There are few things in life more reassuring than having a trustworthy mechanic. In the Indianapolis area, these guys are as good as it gets. They fixed my wife's car and were able to identify that the problem it had was actually a much simpler and cheaper fix than the problem I suspected I had. Goodie on them. Completely took advantage of my son who is going to college nearby. He took his car in to have the battery looked at. They changed out the battery without providing a quote or getting his authorization to do the work. Never gave him an opportunity to choose a battery that was affordable to him and charged him $400 for a battery that sells for $220 at Autozone. Not trustworthy whatsoever. read more

My in-laws recommended that I took my car to Peters after my new car died in the middle of an intersection during a snow storm, and I am very happy they did! I have had horrible experiences with mechanics these past few years and have finally found a place I trust!! Everyone I spoke to throughout the process of getting my car worked on has been very kind, polite and helpful. I ended up having to get my engine replaced due to a part I needed being on a nationwide backorder and a new battery. I have been taking my cars to this gentleman for years!! He is honest and very trustworthy and does an awesome job fixing cars. I have two high end cars and he knows his stuff. When I was in college at University of Indianapolis I would drop my car off when it would break down back then. It's been over 20 years and I still take my cars to him for service. For a year and half I have been given false information on what was wrong with my car. To the extreme it would cost $7000 to fix. ( more than car's value) by Andy Mohr Chevrolet dealership in Plainfield. This business was able to diagnose and fix it. It was less than $800 fix. Super nice owner. Honest. read more

Edited post...... Biggest mistake ever! Owner was beyond rude! Told us that we called him a liar and that he would hold that grudge until the day he died! Finished our conversation with the owner telling me "F**K YOU B**CH"! Tried to talk to the owner's son over Facebook messenger and he told me that I need to let it go and move on! SERIOUSLY???? That's how you treat your customers? The owner can hold a grudge until the day he dies (his words) for something that didn't even happen but I need to "move on" when he says FU B**CH? I have asked many times and he WILL NOT acknowledge that saying those things to a customer is wrong! And now after a couple days, the son, Nigel Peters is denying that he told me to move on! (I have the FB chat to prove he said that) He tried to get my FB post/review removed (and failed) and he accused me of slander and harassment for stating the facts. Decent place to get your car worked on. If you are in a bind, most times they will be able to work you in sooner rather than later although it will almost always take you dropping off your car in the morning and picking it up once its been worked on. Have had my car fixed here twice for wheel bearings and to fix an oil leak and both times they did a good job. Not the cheapest place by any means, but the job will get done and as far as I can tell Dave, the owner, is an honest and good mechanic. read more

Had to have my engine replaced after I thought I was getting an oil change at Wal-Mart. Basically they drained the oil and didn't fill it up. I was told I would have my car back in a week. 2.5 weeks later I finally get a call about my car after everything was fine. Then my engine was squeaking and had the belt checked out at firestone and it came back good. I take my car back to have the squeaking noise fixed, they do all the work without even asking or telling me about what services need done and then want to charge me for new parts that came with the "new" engine they ordered for me. Point blank, this is the worst place to have any mechanical work done at. Their lot looks like a junk yard and the owner is a complete dick and it's his way or No way. read more

My 99 Mustang needed a new throw out bearing in the transmission. I priced 3 other shops locally and all of them wanted almost $300 for parts and labor. Dave and the guys at Peter's had it in the shop the next day and done that afternoon and only charged me $150. They have done other work for me and every time they go far beyond par and give the best and most affordable service in town. You can catch these guys out at the Speedrome on the weekends not only sponsoring cars but also racing in multiple classes and events. So if you're like me and your car is your baby you can feel safe with it in their hands considering they know domestic cars inside and out and with a car as modified and overhauled as mine I wouldnt want anyone other than a race car mechanic working on it. I recommend them to everyone, you cannot find friendly, down home, honest service like this anywhere else except maybe a small town in the boonies, but certainly not in Indy. read more

First of all, let me say that I would never take another vehicle of mine or recommend anyone to Peter's. He called me and told me someone was trying to repossess my vehicle which I am grateful he did even though my car is paid for. It's a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic with a engine of 65,000 miles. My receipt says that I started being charged 8/19/16 when i brought my vehicle in on 08/01/16. So, for 19 days my vehicle sat outside not getting worked on and I was patiently waiting for him to inform me about the cost and labor. When I first brought it to them I told them all I wanted was a timing chain bolt removed and the timing chain adjusted. Week after week for a month I was calling and asking the status of my vehicle. Each time I called they told me that they have not checked the car after having it for a month. After having my car for a month, I spoke to him on the phone, he informs me it needed a water pump and a distributor I said "Let me know how much it will cost to do the job and what parts I will need because I have warranty on all my parts." But instead, he failed to call me to inform me he was going to put the new parts on or how much it will cost. So he worked on my vehicle and added charges on my invoice that I did not agree to. When I go to speak with him about the work he had done, he informed me that of all the work he had done was on the invoice which totaled over a $1000.00!!!! Which was supposed to be a bill of $300.00 like I had expected to pay. So, in order for me to get my vehicle back I had to pay that $1000 which was very unfair and unprofessional for me to foot that type of bill, when I did not okay the job. When I addressed him about the work he did without my permission, I didn't get no response back. So I asked for my keys and left his facility. So I went home and looked at the bill and he had the audacity to charge me for a storage fee starting on 09/01 at $25.00/day, when he had my car for a whole month before he had started working on it! So i don't recommend him and if I would have had a personal lawyer I would have taken legal action. But since I can't I will express my emotions on here and hope no one else gets ripped off by this place. My invoice says 350 5.7 when it is a 4.3L engine. Which let me know he didn't know what he was doing. My car still sound like crap. He did a HORRIBLE job. It still backfires, so I paid $1000 to have a mechanic store my car. read more
