I can't believe it's taken me so long to review this place. Peter Pan Mini Golf is a staple of Austin's awesomeness. It's great that this place has been in business for so long (65 years as of 2013! DAY-UM) and kept a lot of the same creepy statues over the years. There are some new additions as of this year as well. Neither course is particularly difficult and they're fairly standard, but this is a fun and inexpensive way to spend 1/2-1 hours. It's also BYOB (just no glass), which is awesome! I think this might be more fun to do with some kids or a big group. The alcohol drinking amongst patrons definitely increases as it gets later in the evening. They take cash only I think, but there's an ATM on premises. It's only $6 for 1 course or $9 for 2 courses (but only $4 for 1 course and $7 for 2 courses for kids 5 and under). Ignore the Yelp hours, they are wrong. They are open every day and pretty late at that, until midnight Mon-Thurs, until 1 am on Friday and until 11 pm on Sunday. read more

What a wonderful fun place to spend some time! Prices are good, you can bring your own beverages (just no glass), it's challenging and quirky at the same time - what more can you ask! There are picnic tables outside if you need to rest between games or if some in your party want to play both the easy and hard course and some just want to socialize. Either way, you are covered. Great place and good clean fun for all ages! I came were with a group of twelve people and we were able to get a discount :) mind you it wasn't earth shattering, but hey, unexpected discounts are always welcome in my world :) There is usually a line, especially on a beautiful sunny day, but it moves quick! It's byob friendly so bring a small cooler of your favorite beverage. But remember to keep conversations PG, there are little kids around. It is cash only so be sure have what you need :) or have generous friends who can spot you if you "forget." And when you finish, be sure to check out the food carts across the street. Heck yes. Peter Pan Mini-Golf is fun for the whole family, whether your "family" is an actual family, or just you and a bunch of your friends having fun on a weeknight :). One of my favorite things about Peter-Pan (in addition to the BYOB, of course) is that they split the East (Easy) and West (Harder) courses up. What this effectively does is split the families with little kids and the non-families into different sections. End result? Everyone has tons of fun and isn't all-up-in-each-other's-business. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was full of moms, dads and kids running around having a blast (and a birthday party!) on the east course, and the BYOB crowd having fun together on the west course. It's a really great experience for all involved and no drama. The course isn't going to by on the PMGA - pro mini-golf assocation, - tour anytime soon, but that's part of the charm. I came here with a group of 6 others and had a great time. If you're looking for something fun to do on a weekday evening I would totally recommend Peter Pan. The prices are fair and while they only accept cash, there's an ATM on site to handle that. Somethings to note would be in making sure your party isn't too big otherwise there will be major congestion inbetween holes. On that note while it is BYOB, drunk folk make traffic in and out of the different holes hard so take note. There's also a hard/easy course option to help out with beginners. The possibility of sweating here is huge. No matter what. It's a small enclosed outdoor area with trees everywhere so check the weather ahead of time because it can get real humid up in there real quick. If anything there's plenty of cheap food options nearby to go to cool down afterwards. Overall the only situations that came up was a faulty hole that trapped someone's ball but it was told to us that it was a rare occurrence and had the "lost ball" charge voided. Another place that I've gone to ever since I can remember. Peter Pan Mini-Golf has 2 courses, each with 18 holes. In my experiences, the East course is easier than the West course, but they're both pretty fun. It's fairly cheap, too, like 6 bucks for one course and 9 for both. An awesome perk of this place is that you can bring beer with you on to the course. Only it has to be in cans, no glass. Also, as this is a family friendly environment, don't be a drunk fool. This place was very enjoyable and the atmosphere was great! Just a heads up this establishment is BYOB, but all cash and cans. Overall really great experience for a Friday night. It is kid friendly but not stroller friendly so if you have an infant you will have to use your strap carrier. We took on the west course which is said to be the "challenging" course. Overall great experience the only downside is that they don't have enough parking upfront and it is a pretty tight of a space to turn around in. BYOB Mini-Golf?.....fantastic! We planned a "Keep Austin Weird" Themed Day when my parents came and this was a great fit for the day. There are two courses you can do, East and West. One is harder than the other. Both are filled with creep-tastic old sculptures that are knock off versions of Disney characters. They all are a little ugly making it a perfectly, weird game of mini-golf. The sculptures mixed with the BYOB and fun golf holes make this a great way to spend a couple of hours. The price was nice and low too. Cheap date! This place can get CROWDED. It is not fun to play with 3 groups on your butt so time yourself accordingly. We got lucky and started while others were eating lunch (they have picnic tables by the way), so we did not have anyone waiting on us. Pee before. The bathrooms were the worst I have ever seen. Men were using the drain in the middle of the floor as another place to relieve themselves. Yuck. Have fun! read more

Parking at times can be a bit of a pain as the lot is small. The price you pay is super affordable and worth it for a full night of fun. I'm deducting two stars. The biggest issue was the lack of care and the 'not my problem' attitude of the attendant. The second is cash only. Regarding the cash issue first, I get that it costs money to even be able to accept credit/debit cards. But this is 2017. No one carries cash. Instead of the business paying for it - the customer has to pay $3 atm fees? Come on man. And if it means you charge $9 instead of $8 for a round of minigolf - guess what? You're not going to lose a single customer. Back to the attendant. He was just was in NO hurry to do anything. He didn't ask if we'd been here before, didn't ask if we knew what we were doing. Barely said anything as he took our cash and handed us some clubs. We also got one snowcone. He overfilled it w/ juice - so the instant it left his hand it was leaking all over the counter, splashing on the ground, and was virtually uneatable/drinkable without it getting everywhere. When we asked for napkins, you could hear his audible sigh that he was going to have to something. Just terrible customer service. Otherwise - we enjoyed ourselves. Pretty fun! Age groups vary, some younger than 5 will get bored easily. But that seems to be the nature of the game (or the kid). Pretty affordable for groups or couples. SO no worries there, it's in a great part of town, too. It seemed to be a popular place for basic entertainment, They have a few large picnic tables, it's best to bring your own food and beverages. There's not a lot of parking at all, so I'd recommend going on off peak hours. Some of the "sculptures" are funny or cute, some just down right creepy. Try it out. read more

This place was super fun! I'm glad it was open late at night when there wasn't much else to do with the kids. There was only one worker and he didn't seem too happy to be there. We had never been there and we were a little confused and he didn't explain anything to us! He just saw three of us handed us the clubs asked for the money and said easy that way hard that way! He didn't make sure we got balls or score cards or anything! But besides his lazy attitude it was super fun but on some courses the balls got stuck inside we thought we lost it but it was just jammed! overall it's a fun place to come with friends i would love to come back! read more

I'm a big fan of miniature golf so I was excited to play a round at this historical establishment with a couple of friends. Unfortunately there is quite a lack of variation from one hole to another, mostly you're just trying to get your ball through a slot underneath a goofy statue, with the hole being on the other side. That's it. There are no waterworks or robotic features to speak of. The greens are relatively well-maintained, however one green has a huge sinkhole where balls just get trapped coming out of a pipe. I did not really enjoy my time here. I wish I had gone to a different place. read more

We took our friends kids here and I would say it's pretty family friendly, some pretty interesting artwork at the holes and you have two separate courses. I went to Peter Pan for the first time last night and had a fantastic time. Here are my observations/comments: --Parking. My friend got a spot in the very tiny lot, but I had to park across the street behind the Jack-in-the-box. If you've got a group of little ones, drop them off first, then let the adult cross the road. Barton Springs is very wide and busy there. If you're not reasonably agile and/or brave, you might even have to walk up to the cross-walk to make it safely across. CAUTION: Parking under the big tree WILL result in pigeon bombs on your car. --Payment. PPan is cash/check only. It's super affordable, but if you don't bring cash with you, you're out of luck. There was a hand-written sign on the window with [very lengthy] directions on how to get to the nearest ATM, so apparently it's fairly common for patrons to arrive cashless. --Equipment. My putter and ball were in perfectly acceptable condition for what we were doing. Putters are "blade" style, which allow for right or left handed play. I also saw the smaller kiddos were playing with a smaller size made especially for them. TIP: Don't be the aging, Tiger-wannabe frat-guy who brings his own putter from his golf bag. It won't make one bit of difference and you'll look like a tool when you get spanked by a 12-year old. --Playing. We played 18 holes on the "West" course. TIP: "real" golfers, leave your game at home. When I first started, I was trying to apply real-world golfing skills so I could play my best (i.e., WIN). But after 2 holes, I realized that real golf had absolutely nothing to do with hitting a banged-up ball on old, leaf-ridden astroturf against uneven concrete barriers. My scores improved significantly after I stopped trying to read lines and angles, etc. and just focused on getting the ball in the general vicinity of the cup. If you can two-putt 4 or 5 of the holes, you'll be in good shape. Another tip: Watch the people in front of you. There was a kid ahead of me that was playing really, really well, and I definitely lowered my score just doing what he did. --Pace. In the first 10 minutes of playing, I thought it was going to take forever to get through the course. There was a big family of 6 in front of us and they were NOT in a hurry. I even considered asking them to let us play through. But then I quickly realized that was ridiculous. No one should be in a hurry playing mini-golf. Instead, use your wait time to be with your friends and/or get involved in others' games-- we found ourselves encouraging the youngest daughter from the family ahead of us and cheering when her older brother got [yet another] hole-in-one. The group behind us did the same thing to us and by the time we finished, we felt like we all knew each other. That light-hearted atmosphere was one of the best parts of the night. TIP: This isn't real golf. Leave your watch at home and go make some new friends! --Course condition. I noticed that previous reviewers were pretty hard on the condition of the course, and I was concerned about it being a dump. It wasn't bad at all. It definitely showed signs of age, but I didn't even notice it as I was having so much fun. If you're too much of a prince/princess to have fun here, then you shouldn't be playing mini-golf in the first place. I would suggest those types go to the Arboretum and play chess at Neiman Marcus. --Patrons. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at PPan. Everyone was laughing, cheering and having fun. The course is small so you're often walking very close to other groups. I found myself talking to and watching lots of people while playing. I liked that. We played around 7pm and there was a mix of younger kids/families and a very large group of college girls with a pretty hefty cooler of alcohol. The nice part was that no one got out of hand or too loud while we were there. I did see one guy try to throw his ball rather than putt it, which wound up bouncing all through the course and into others' games. TIP: Don't be an obnoxious douche-bag when you go here and everyone will have fun. --Bathroom Facilities. Try your best to hold it if you can. While perfectly adequate to take care of business in a pinch, it's definitely not a place you'll want to spend much time. I'd liken it to how I feel about restrooms in any older, outdoor sports facilities like a baseball fields, football stadiums, etc.--gross, but glad it's there. Bottom Line: An affordable place have good, clean fun. I loved this place and can't wait to go back. Highly recommended! read more

So much fun fun FUN! but not too much fun to go to if it's the high 90s with 98% humidity at midnight and you're trying to get your drink on while playing some mini-golf. I liked to pass out! For those who require perfection in every aspect of their lives, putt putt included, you probably wont enjoy yourself here. I choose not to be so critical when i want to have a bit of fun. I mean c'mon. Peter Pan has been here for like 50 Years OK. Its not gonna be Agusta National with its perfectly manicured course. And so what if has a few wrinkles in the greens or an age spot or two on the giant dinosaurs. Your supposed to be enjoying yourselves. So i got to play host to my son, daughter and our niece here and it turned out to be a big hit. I love how kids can have fun almost anywhere. We started out keeping score but that lasted like 2 1/2 holes. Then we didn't care anymore cause whats the point. They were giggling, running around, cheating...you know...having fun ! I am thankful that there still is a Peter Pan putt putt to get the kids away from their video games and ipods...And if your not careful...you just might have fun and enjoy yourself as well. read more

3.5 stars. We went to Peter Pan the other night after dinner for a little entertainment. We arrived about 10:45pm, just before they let the last groups start. The park closes at exactly midnight (they turn out the lights) so we felt a bit rushed to finish in time since the group in front of us was going especially slow. All in all, it was still very fun and we did finish (with less than one minute to spare). How in the world could it take 1 hour and 15 minutes to play 18 holes of mini-golf you might ask. Simple. Peter Pan allows you to bring your own beer and play as long as you want. On the night we went, it was crowded. There must have been 100 people on two 18-hole courses, some toting coolers. The atmosphere was celebratory, but not rowdy. There were children having fun as well as college students, parents, grandparents, etc. The course itself is pretty fun, but dated. We played the course that starts out on the McDonalds side. I like the vintage look of the course, and that actually made it more fun for me. Most of the holes are pretty straight forward. Some are very challenging. I got a hole-in-one that I still cannot figure out how it happened. The price is right at $5 per person. It is only $2 for a second round of 18 holes. Bottled waters are $1, which you will want to buy if it is 100 degrees, like it was the night we went. I think it is cash only, but they might accept a check. If it wasn't for the fact that this is the only putt-putt around and the BYOB factor, this place would earn a lower rating. read more

Fun!!! Went to Peter Pan for the first time after Sunday brunch. Please note- mimosas help your game! A couple things to know before you go (reiterating a lot of what other Yelpers have already said): 1. Small parking lot. Drive a small car and hope for the best, or park across the street on Lee Barton Drive. 2. Cash only! 3. They told us the west course was more challenging, but I disagree! Both courses are fun (play both!). 4. It was crowded on a sunny, 75 degree afternoon, but we never had to wait for the people in front of us to go for too long. Plus, we were there having fun, chatting with others (or laughing at their mini golf abilities), and watching what others were doing to figure out the best way to play the hole! 5. You can BYOB! 6. Yes, it's an old course, some of the characters are falling apart (beware of the Hitler pirate, the evil bunny, and the stoned turtle!). But the green was new and fresh, so it didn't impact our game.
