As a patient of Dr. Chen I just wanted to say that I enjoy coming here. I've been a patient here for a few years now & I wouldn't go anywhere else. I love that he's a private office because you get to have an appointment time reserved just for myself unlike other offices where they see multiple people & you wait for hours. Another thing I love is that they actually follow my insurance plan again, unlike other offices & I appreciate that because nobody likes financial surprises in my opinion. I like that he does his own cleanings because if there's a cavity or issue who better to catch & diagnose the problem other than the dentist himself. When I first started coming here I had pain on one of my molars for years & I went to MULTIPLE dentist to find the solution & no one was able to find the issue until I met Dr. Chen. He's very knowledgeable, observant & comprehensive & I've never felt like he diagnosed treatment I didn't need but if I ever felt confused on treatment that was needed he was more than happy to show me my X-ray & educate as well as elaborate. I myself had orthodontic treatment & to see your smile transform is such an experience. My self confidence boosted so much. I felt like a brand new person. BUT braces aren't for everyone because not everyone is born with the same mouth & set of teeth. I enjoy the Dr. & his lovely staff & will continue to be a loyal patient. read more

Dr Chen has been my Dentist now for the past 10 to 12 years. He is pretty much the cream of the crop when it comes to Dentists. He is patient and explains everything pretty well. I've referred numerous patients now to him and still more to follow. His staff is pretty friendly. He gets busy at times so it is hard sometimes to get an appointment with the office when it is convenient, but to me that means he is good because others want to see him as much as I do to get their Dental work done. read more

I have been taking my 3 kids here for a while. I am not too crazy about the dentist himself doing the cleanings rather than a hygienist as I feel they are rushed and not very thorough. Typically, we are told without getting xrays that the kids don't have cavities, but to me that is not a good way to tell if some are on the verge of popping up or if a tooth is decaying or infected. Also, Dr. Chen ALWAYS says one of my 3 kids need braces when they have perfectly straight teeth. I have never been told that before at any other dentist. I moved here from the Bay Area about five years ago and needed to find a good dentist. Because he did cleanings himself I thought that I chose a good dentist. He seemed knowledgeable and seemed to give you insight on his thoughts of your teeth at its current state. His cleanings were about half an hour long. Every time I left there I felt like my teeth were cleaner than when I arrived, not exceptional but good enough to come back. Every time I left his office though, I left feeling like I never did a good job cleaning my teeth or that my teeth was going downhill and there was no saving them; I am not kidding when I say there was always something negative he'd tell me about my teeth and I took ownership, thinking he knew best. Fast forward, I was pregnant during the pandemic and everything/where was on lockdown. I missed my cleaning with him I believe twice so I knew the next time I went back there was more cleaning to be done than usual. Went back after baby, my cleaning was half an hour I felt like he rushed through it and my teeth weren't that clean, (still felt the plaque that would normally be scraped off there). But I understood since I hadn't been back for so long. Instead of suggesting I come back for another cleaning, he automatically referred me to a periodontist based on me being pregnant and losing calcium?! (this maybe true but he never ran any labs/test to show this). He basically said that I'd be seeing a periodontist for the rest of my life bi-annually, along with my regular cleanings with him?! This was the straw that forced me to proactively do research before committing to his suggestion. Making a long story short, I decided to try another place for a second opinion and cleaning. After my experience at the new place today, I must say I'm never coming back here again. My experience was like night and day!! How did I stay with him for all these years I've been in LA? I didn't know better. Based on just the cleaning alone, my new place was so thorough and no stones were left unturned; they finished the job Dr. Chen didn't have time to finish. They gave me hope and a renewed sense of what a professional and honest dentist should be. I guess this was all a blessing in disguise. So thank you Dr. Chen, but still getting one star. O!! And funny he told his patient that one of her kids needed braces (review below) because he gave me a whole explanation as to why braces don't work. So referring me to periodontist, referring someone else to a orthodontist. I find this suspicious. You can draw your own conclusion. read more

Dr. Peter Chen has been my dentist since 2008 and I have recently switched my 16yr old daughter to see him. Having the school intellect isn't enough when you're dealing with people who hate or fear the dentist to begin with. I am 47 yrs old and he is the only dentist who's help me tremendously as far as feeling good when going to the dentist. He does a phenomenal job. I told him, "He does magic." I can tell a million and one things he's helped me conquered my fears and to better, healthier teeth. I no longer have any excuse not go to the dentist. In the past I put off going for as much as 5 years. Compare to how I was before Dr Chen where I used to hyperventilate, I am relaxed and it's wonderful. My trust is complete for Dr. Chen. I don't know how he does it, thinking of the extra things to help his patients. Don't take my word for it, see for yourself and try. read more

What I mostly love about Dr. Chen is that no matter whether he's cleaning or filling or repairing or whatever...it NEVER hurts during or after. I went for a new patient exam and cleaning today. Dr. Chen and his staff were very pleasant, nice, and I did not feel rushed there while I asked Dr. Chen many, many questions about my teeth problems. He does the cleaning himself because he likes to "examine" every tooth and be aware of any problems. I thought that was nice considering I had never heard of any dentist doing cleanings. I believe he is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. His staff was very helpful in calling my insurance company and straightening out what I owed out of pocket, etc. Some offices, don't explain to you before hand and then you just get a bill. My one criticism is that the did not floss my teeth after they were cleaned--not a big deal. I don't know if that is the "proper" thing to do. I only know that all other cleanings I have had in the past, the dental hygienist always flossed my teeth at the end which I really liked for a "thorough" clean. My teeth felt great and clean however, and I intend to come back for my future dental needs. I am only giving 4 stars because I've only had 1 visit. read more
