David R.

I've been a patient of Dr. Baratian's (or "Dr. B" as his patients affectionately call him) since July 2014, and I can honestly say he's the best dentist I've ever had (I'm in my mid-60s). This is actually my fourth review for his practice (on Yelp)- that's how impressed I've been over the years! Dr. B's practice has grown tremendously; he even moved to a larger office to accommodate more patients. Yet, he's still maintained that same warm, friendly approach that drew me to him in the first place. He is exceptionally skilled- I consider him more of a specialist than your average dentist. He's already successfully placed three implants in the back of my mouth, and I was back today to begin the process for four front implants. While I admit dental work makes me nervous, I completely trust Dr. B's expertise. What really sets Dr. B apart is how he handles the unexpected. During today's appointment, he encountered some unforeseen complications that required extra time and care. Rather than rushing through or putting a band-aid on it, he took all the time necessary to ensure everything was done right. Yes, it probably threw off his schedule for the day, but that's the kind of thorough, patient-focused care that makes him exceptional. I noticed one reviewer mentioned Dr. B running late and having to wait; --honestly, after today's experience, I completely understand how that could happen. When a dentist prioritizes doing the job right over staying on schedule, sometimes appointments run long. I'd much rather have a dentist who takes the extra time needed than one who rushes through important work to stay on time. I'd also like to compliment the entire staff at Modern Dental. They're incredibly well-trained and genuinely friendly--a surprisingly rare combination. I believe a practice's staff reflects its leadership, and Dr. B has built something special here. Everyone from the front desk to the dental assistants makes you feel welcomed and cared for. The office is always spotless, the communication is clear and honest, and the overall atmosphere puts you at ease (as much as anyone can be at ease at the dentist!). I can't recommend Modern Dental enough if you're looking for a new dental practice. After more than a decade as a patient, I can confidently say you won't find better care or a more caring team elsewhere.

Trying to reach the office number for two days, is there another working number or website? Main number just rings no one picks up.?

310 370-0301.

What insurance do they take?

I work for La County, and I have Delta Dental insurance, and they had no problem getting authorization for all my dental work.

Do they wear mask when they do procedures? Was there during pandemic. I asked a male assistant(heavyset, dark)to wear one. He left instead and never came back. Dr. B came & not…

Yes they do wear masks, every time I have gone they wear a mask and are very professional. Every time I have been there Dr. B is always wearing a mask, and are understanding for making appointments.

Do they do teeth whitening?

Yes. The deep cleaning makes a difference too.

Are you currently open for a dental bridge?

Yes. Their bridge work is great. Worth every penny and was very reasonably priced. I chose them after 2 consultations.

Do they do Bridges?

He specializes in all complicated procedures so I'd say yes .. Great work

Amazing Dental Office!…read more My first time coming here, and it definitely won't be my last! The whole team was amazing. From the front desk girls to the dentist himself, everyone was so kind, honest, and incredible. I'm someone who's afraid of the dentist, but this whole team made sure I was well taken care of and was honest about the entire process which made me feel so comfortable and relieved. I've had negative experiences with dentists randomly raising the prices in the end and being dishonest about their services, but not this place!! They were transparent from the start and NEVER told me I needed something more expensive just for the sake of it. This place is simply amazing. They are super caring and the doctor is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. I recommend this dentist to anyone who's afraid of the dentist, anyone who Needs a simple check up and clean up (like me), and anyone in need of anything more! Five Stars Aren't Enough for ARTSCI Dentistry!…read more This is my third visit to ARTSCI Dentistry in Redondo Beach, and I'm more impressed every single time. If I could write a glowing review after every appointment, I would! For the first time in my life, I actually look forward to going to the dentist, and that's all thanks to this incredible team. This place is beyond top-notch. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the positive energy. Everyone greets you with a genuine smile and a great attitude. Angela, Alexis, Michelle, and Skylir make every visit welcoming and seamless, and they truly know how to take care of a patient. And then there's my wonderful doctor, Dr. Winiarskyj. She is beyond remarkable: skilled, caring, and someone you can completely trust with your smile. The office is spotless, the equipment is state-of-the-art, and the level of service is outstanding from start to finish. You can tell this team takes real pride in what they do. If you're looking for a dentist, stop searching. This is the place to go. I'd give them 10 stars if I could, but five will have to do!

We began with a digital patient intake form on the MyChart platform, which made it easy to complete. I hate filling out intake forms by hand because it's hard to write small and nearly for an entire set of intake forms. (Maybe my fine motor control isn't so good?) Second was taking X-rays. Xrays usually hurt a lot for me because I have extra bone growth extending all around my lower jaw outward from my teeth laterally toward my tongue. So biting down hard and all the way on the cardboard film holder makes it dig into the tissue that covers these growths in my mouth, and that hurts me a LOT. NONE OF THAT HERE!!! They have a 3-D machine that rotates on a vertical axis around the patient's head, like a baseball catcher's helmet but far away from the face so it's not bothersome. It rotates all around and gets much better images plus avoids the older, painful process.

Failure to refund $3,877 of that $5,300 for work they never did. - Opaque billing / no receipts for procedures - Dodgy / poorly maintained anesthesia equipment. - Dentists apparently more concerned with driving Porsches than conducting honest business transactions with patients. - Friendly staff, clean office in an upscale strip mall. -Did I mention high pressure upselling / death threats yet? Keep reading.... MY REDONDO DENTAL EXPERIENCE: I chipped a molar. I wasn't in pain, but figured I should get it looked at by a dentist. Redondo Dental is located near me. The office appeared clean and the reception staff were polite and friendly. After the initial "free exam", I was told I needed a root canal and crown for the chipped tooth - and a tooth next to it (upselling) by Dentist Caroline Shelly. When I asked how much this would cost, Dr. Shelly vacated the exam room as though she'd just eaten a rotten Chipotle burrito. "That sucks!" I thought to myself "But that's what she gets for eating at Chipotle..." I was left splayed out in the treatment chair as I contemplated this, still wearing an exam bib. Suddenly, the office manager / closer Lizeth Duran entered for the money shot. She slid a computer screen in front of me, and said the cash price for the procedures was $10,000, but that she could "help me out" if I bought dental insurance from her vendor, and if I financed everything through a company called Care Credit. Then it would "only" cost me $5,304 - which I could pay off over 2 years with zero interest if I paid in full by the deadline. Normally, I only expect to encounter high pressure sales tactics when purchasing used cars or negotiating with hookers. Most dental practices refrain from such tactics. Not Redondo Dentistry though... Apparently Dr Shelly's exit was part of a financial ruse =( I get extremely anxious in dental offices, so my capacity to evaluate the scam / financial offer in front of me was diminished. I was not given the mandatory disclosures that accompany credit agreements / loans. I was only shown a screen with the bottom line number and told to sign. Pushing dodgy upfront financial agreements on anxious patients with broken teeth is beneath contempt IMO. It tells you everything you need to know about the ethics of the dentists who own this practice though. I do not blame the staff . They are employees who work for the dentists. I suspect the dentists direct Ms Duran to use high pressure tactics with every patient. The credit agreement I signed meant my credit account was debited the entire $5,304 IMMEDIATELY. This was not disclosed to me by Ms Duran - or anyone else. It gets worse: When I went in to get the root canal done, the endodotist was unable to complete the procedure - supposedly because I couldn't open my mouth wide enough. That expereince was quite unpleasant. I found the endodotist Dr. Leiza Walia quite high strung. She berated me for not being able to open my mouth wide enough, saying I "wasn't cooperating" after giving me the most massive head numbing novacaine injection ever. I was head-down feet-up in the chair, choking on my own spit Dr. Leiza saying "OPEN!!!" and "BREATHE!!!" repeatedly. Finally she says: "If you keep fighting me we are gonna have to STOP and you'll LOSE THE TOOTH!!! DO YOU WANT TO STOP??" Hell yes I wanted to stop! Stop BERATING ME! I couldn't open my mouth any wider! After that traumatic experience, I unwisely decided that since I'd already paid $5,000, I might as well get a deep cleaning / root scaling done. As part of this proceedure, I decided to try nitrous oxide sedation because of my extreme anxiety. When the hygienist Lizbet (who was wonderful) tried to administer the anesthesia, the nose canula thingy wouldn't work properly- it simply wasn't supplying enough oxygen to keep me alive. I don't blame the hygienist. It's not her job to maintain anesthesia equipment. Malfunctioning equipment like this can actually be life threatening. It is supposed to be maintained by qualified technicians. The deep cleaning required 4 visits. They tried to charge me for sedation at each visit, even though I told them I didn't want it after the first attempt. Oh, yeah.... Dr Shelly told me my broken tooth could be "fatal" if not extracted. Even though it wasn't infected and I wasn't in pain, my molar might murder me at moment unless extracted. I'm amazed she was able to keep a straight face, but many dentists are psychopaths... CONCLUSION: I've been trying to get a refund since August. I've spoken with staff or the office manager 4 times now. In person. I was promised a check "within 2 weeks" over a month ago now. Still no check... Beware Redondo Dentistry. Shady outfit. Don't let them anywhere near your mouth. Or wallet. You've been warned.
