On Saturday October 10, 2015. I dropped my dog off at 11:45 for a 12:00 grooming appointment at the Yonkers location. I was given a 1 - 2 hour window to pick her up. At the 2 hour mark I called to see if she was ready for pick up and was told by a Leslie that my dog was not ready, and was not yet given a bath. I immediately went there and saw that my dog was still sitting in the same place I left her, tied up to a wall, frantic and in distress with countless amount of loud noises around scaring her. All the groomers there with the except of Suzette were all looking at me unapologetic, with no explanation as to why no one called to inform me that my dog was unable to be seen in a timely manner. The groomers at Petco with the exception of Suzette are inhumane to animals, unprofessional, lacking of compassion and down right should not be able to care for animals. The Manager Laura, went to her with my complaint all she could offer was a complimentary grooming appointment...like that would solve the way her employees treated my dog. I've been a faithful customer of Petco and there services for 7years now and I was very appalled and livid as to how they treated my dog. This was an eye opener as to how Petco treats animals and I will not be returning to this store or any other Petco for that matter. I will be getting in contact with the corporate offices to voice my disgust, total let down and the inhumane way my dog was treated. read more

I still go there constantly but there been alot of issues and there slacking alot. I mean everytime i go for grooming and look around there always a fish or 2 dead or the lights r shut off and there fished are under observation, they claim to have axolt but you have to order them and when you order them they dont call you to tell you your order in glad they didnt ask me for money and i not get my salamander. There pee stations to pick up after your dog no hand sanitizer, no whipes or anything from the station to clean up after your dog and there stocks are low on item, no hamsters for me to look at like that either, but when i call costumer service to complain they leave me on hold and hang up after 33 mins read more

I had drove to petco on 2350 Central Park ave and the groomer Robert refused to provide services for my babies and I had two appointments set for my dogs on different days this guy refuse to Services my dogs and was the second visit I even explained to there manager and still Robert refused to cut my dogs I don't know what kind of business refuses money in a pandemic and don't have no control over there employees!! My dog got skunked this past Sunday. Petco came to my rescue. The grooming department without hesitation gave me an appointment for the same day and de-skunked him. They did an excellent job. Everyone in the grooming department was really nice and helpful. The groomer also recommended some products to use in the house to get rid of the skunk smell and these products really worked. read more

I tried Petco recently because I experienced Chewy slipping in shipment reliability and customer service (Chewy customer service was abrupt-bordering on downright rude when I tried to get an issue corrected). I found Petco to be great on prices for cat litter and they offered free same day delivery. I was able to buy 84 pounds of Everclean premium cat litter for $38 and they delivered it to my door 4 hours later for free. It was especially impressive as they brought it to the fourth floor rand my bell . I believe the Mount Vernon, NY store services my area-so kudos to them. This is the second time I ordered from them and they are consistently excellent!! read more

They did an "ok" job with my dogs hair cut. BUT it took four hours and she looked like she was in such distress when I picked her up. She was shaking and frantic, unlike her. If I could give zero stars I would. This was by far the most dreadful grooming experience we've had by far. Our appointment was for 1:45. We arrived a tad bit later BUT BEFORE THE 15MINUTE GRACE PERIOD they give. When we arrived I stated that we had an appointment for 1:45 the groomer and person at the front desk were whispering RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Amanda rudely stated she wasn't going to groom my dog while whispering. They then waited until after the 15min grace period to state "unfortunately there's only a 15MINUTE Grace period we allow. We can't groom your dog and the groomer that was originally supposed to groom your dog isn't here anyway". Amanda was so rude and unprofessional. Petco chose the groomer for my appointment and never once sent an email or text saying the groomer didn't show up. They waited until I got there and waited until after the "15 minute Grace period" to tell me they weren't going to groom my dog SO RUDELYYYYY. I will never return to this establishment. I will continue to go to Brittani in the Gun Hill Road Petco she is so sweet and professional. They even send a text when a groomer isn't available after the appointment is set so they can accommodate their customers UNLIKE IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT. read more

So, I'm currently searching for the corporate offices and or their phone number to issue a formal complaint. The 2350 Central Park Avenue store in Yonkers, NY is a joke. From Israel the manager to Robert the groomer. It's like a tag team. To put me on speaker is so unprofessional, having two men talking at the same time, who manages these workers? It was my 1st grooming experience there that was the worse I've ever been through. I never expected the day to go as it did, it shouldn't happen. I normally take my pup to PetSmart, not far from this location. My pups groomer was in an accident and has been out. I decide to give Petco a try, never again! First off, I had scheduled the appointment online weeks prior. Then, I decide to call two days before the actual appointment. No one answers the phone but the machine says someone will call me back the same day. That never happened, not even the following day. I had wanted to describe what I wanted for my pup. I pay more for his grooming for an "express cut". PetSmart has accommodated me with this service for many years. The reason for the "express cut" is because my pups trachea dropped some years ago (he's a Yorkie). All I do is bathe my pup the night before his appointment and the groomer at PetSmart just takes him in and starts his grooming. That's what "the appointment time" is for. Though I pay a little more, I'm so glad PetSmart steps up and isn't scared to groom my pup, it's not the end of the world. I just don't want my pup to be put in a back room or crate. He can get anxious and start to throw up or gasp. PetSmart is aware of this and has never not groomed him. They're not "chickens" like Robert at Petco was today. So after wasting my time driving to Petco, on time, I wasn't able to get my pup groomed! Who has time to drive back and forth for nothing when dogs are easily annoyed on most car trips. So after I left the store, I called them back to speak to Israel, the manager. That was another mess. He had my appointment mixed up and wrong, after I told him that wasn't the issue, he needs "listening ears"....he didn't resolve anything for me. He comes up with this "7 point" exam that my pup didn't pass? That's when I stopped him. No one ever even looked at my pup! Robert was on his behind sitting behind the counter. He would have had to stand up to look down at my pup since he was on the floor. So I already knew that Israel was dishing me crap. My pup isn't a car that a mechanic has to go over check points in certain situations!! That store has a lot to learn and not wanting to make money from a willing customer is out of this world. Back to PetSmart I go where there are "BRAVE WOMEN" groomers who aren't scared to take my money! By the way, my pup is in great condition other than his trachea dropping some years ago which I paid over $5,000 for his surgery. He is well taken care of. I wouldn't leave or even take my pup to any groomers if I thought they couldn't groom him. Shame on both Robert, the so called groomer and Israel, the so called manager. read more

I took my yorkie there as a last resort because his groomer is on vacation and they had availability. However the service was horrible I caught the groomer yelling at my dog and being nasty. Our rescue dog had a rough life before he came to live with us. I was worried about taking him to be groomed because he doesn't like water and had been abused. But he is a large dog (close to 80 pounds) and I had difficulty getting him into the tub, so I finally shopped around for a groomer. After visiting several grooming businesses, Jeri at Petco was a breath of fresh air. She was so kind and helpful. She listened and understood my concerns. She scheduled an early morning appointment so he would be the only dog, she even arrived early to help him acclimate. Andre really loves dogs and talked to me about the special needs of rescue dogs. This location was the worst experience ever. I had my dog groomed. They told me it would be three hours, but it was 4 and a half hours already with no phone call. I arrived at this location and there was no groomer to be found. Just my dog barking in the back. I asked the cashier girl to help me get my dog and she was polite and spoke to a manager to help me. They told me they were trying to text the groomer that was on a lunch break to get authorization for my dog to be released. I demanded my dog and the manager never came out. She kept sending the cashier girl to deal with me and that's unprofessional. I see the groomer strolling in and I told him how much longer on my dog. He told me five minutes. It had been almost 5 hours in groomer for a small Maltese. I told him I want my dog back now, so he grabbed my dog up in his hands and gave it to me, not on a leash. My dog was still WET after 5 hrs. This is disgusting and want to go to corporate with this because it's unacceptable. read more

I loved Kelly! I took my 8 month very shy and timid shih tzu in to get groomed. At first he flipped out so the lady recommended we come back tomorrow so we could have someone socialize with him and warm up to. Kelly did exactly that. The next day not only did she get him to warm up to her, she squeezed us in for grooming after she was all booked. Which made me tear up. Never have I seen such trust and reliability. Shadow is going through stranger danger phase now and we're working on it. Kelly was wonderful and she deserved a nice tip. She recommended we brush his teeth weekly, and have us come in for his ears to be cleaned as well as nail clipping. I really loved Kelly and her determination for trying to groom Shadow. I took my 8 year old Shih Tzu to there grooming department. My dog contacted a viral infection from this place!! He had all his immunization shots up to date and died two weeks after contacting the virus. I took him to the ASPCA who confirmed the virus. I am still grieving his loss. Don't come here!! My poor baby was in excellent health and regular vet visits. Comment to Petco Customer Service: You should look at how clean your facility is... yes. With that said, my dog is gone, $6,000 in medical bills and he is gone. No one can bring my dog back. Don't waste my time with an email. Look into your facility is what you can do. I have bought supplies here and also scheduled my dog for a grooming session. My dog was clean and his nails were clipped. They let him air dry as the dryer was stressing him out. I appreciated how they informed me and kept me up to speed when I kept calling to see when he could come out. I take my dog get her nails cut at other Petco locations. I was at the Pet Valu in the same complex so I decided to get her nails cut here. When we arrived the woman asked what we needed and I said a walk in nail clipping. She rudely said "have you been here before?" I said yes at other locations knowing. (she asked this because Petco requires you to bring your dogs shots the first time you get their nails clipped) but why did she have to ask so nasty. Whatever I let it go. Then she tells another employee that their is a walk in nail clipping and the employees rolls her eyes and looks at her watch. This did not make me feel like I wanted to leave my dog in this persons care. She started doing the process on the computer but does not say one word to us. She basically didn't direct a word until we started walking out of the store saying "don't leave I'm going to be done very fast" well if she would of talked to us she would of known that whenever our dog gets her nails cut it's better we are not in the same room and she gets really agitated and crying wanting us to come save her. In the end we got our dog quickly and I just wanted to get the hell out of there and never come back. read more

Just brought my Pomeranian for a bath and shave "boo" type cut. The ladies working were super sweet with my little guy and he looks great! Even put a little Halloween bandana on him. The only downside was that it took 2.5 hours. Not a big deal as I went and ran errands but it was a long time for a 7 pound dog. read more

i was running late and needed some fish food for a beta fish and knew that petco would have it and from the really bad reviews dealing with dog grooming i am glad i dont have a dog of my own . next to kohls and plenty of free parking which is the norm on central ave . plenty of assorted pet foods , supplies , acessories , etc. i was able to find a gal working the fish food area and kept it simple by just giving her a note with the type of fish food needed . place is fairly large , clean and organized but dog and cat area smells a bit. no lines and checkout is quick , dont know if prices are the same as other pet stores but no time to check . giving three stars cause what i needed was in stock , gal was friendly and helpful and checkout was quick . i assume for folks who have pets besides dogs and cats they will be able to find what they need here . read more

We have been going to this store for grooming for years. We have always been satisfied. Our usual groomer is no longer there so I should have known better. We new our dog had a couple of knots but he was not full of knots. They didn't just cut him they shaved him to the bone - he looks hairless. We have terrible allergies. I tell them over & over please no perfume. Theyhighlight no perfume. Not not s he hairless , he smells like he was drowned in a bath of perfume. June 27, 2020, I've brought my daughter and her dog to be groomed at 9 AM. I pulled up front, my daughter picks up her dog, carries him into the car on her lap, as soon as I make a right out of the parking lot, there's blood all over my daughters brand new pants and shirt, I immediately pull over and noticed the dogs left paw is bleeding. I go back to Petco, Tamika (The Groomer) immediately denies any wrong doing, I ask to speak to the (The Manager) Pat. Pat comes to me and goes onto telling me a story of,"she has 5 dogs and they bite their feet". SO? So, we know where this is going, she doesn't believe what I've told her. The dog obviously has gotten his nail cut too short is why he's bleeding. They both deny that, after a heated argument, she recommends I go to The Central Animal Hospital 317 Ardsley Road Scarsdale, NY 10583. Had to wait 1 & 1/2 hours to be seen. The nurse comes out and says the nail was cut too short. I get a letter from the animal hospital, go back to Petco to speak to Pat. She says, "Petco cannot reimburse my daughter for her pants & shirt since the damage wasn't done in the store, I've also requested the grooming fee be refunded, Pat denied that also". What she did offer was $20 off the $75 Grooming that I paid for and to pick out some items in the store and she'll give a huge discount. I had to just test her and see what the discount would be. Not that I was going for it. I bring a dog pillow, she offered, $20 off the $50 dog pillow. So yes Petco Customers, Pat The Manager offered $40. No apology of what happened to the dog, or accusing us of lying in her professional way. We should've been refunded for the grooming and my daughters clothing!!! After all this was done it was 4 pm. This all started from picking up my daughters dog at 12:30 pm. Mind you, my daughter just graduated high school the day before on 6/26, this ruined all graduation celebration plans for that day!! The outfit that she had on was a graduation gift from her Aunt that she bought on 6/26! This was an perfect example for my daughter of me teaching her why the protest on Black Lives Matter exist! The knee is on our necks everywhere! I told my daughter, look how we were spoken to, I'm a 53 year old man with my daughter! We have no reason to lie of how our dog was hurt! Received no apology, recognition of them being wrong, no refund or compensation of my daughters clothing! Thanks Petco!! I've been a customer of Petco since my daughters dog was born 5 years ago! Sure the prices are better than the competitors, but don't go there for the sake of your fish. Aside from being unprofessional and elusive, if you are lucky enough to catch a staff member running by, don't expect expertise advice. I went at 11am and the only two ppl there were the cashier and manager. I wont get into what the managers advice was for my tank, but l later found out at Petgoods that l would have killed all my fish had l replaced my entire gravel as Petco said to do. This experience at PETCO was amazing and I'm so thankful and relieved as my pets are like my children. Imagine in February we went to a different groomer, my dogs ( a three y/o 8lbs Havanese and a one y/o miniature 12lb Poodle) Were groomed in another salon. I was told to bring them at 9 am they ended up in the place for 9 hours, I kept calling but was told they weren't ready and when I finally picked them up they didn't look like they had anything done but being fluffed and perfumed and the cost was outrageous and also they both came home with diarrhea. Petco gave me an appointment that fit my schedule, they took my dogs in on time and gave me a time frame when they would be done. They were ready within the given time frame. They both looked beautiful, cuts and groomed exactly what was discussed with the groomers. I was very happy with the entire experience needless to say we found our new groomers! read more

Leslie is the best! She and another girl took amazing care of my 14 year old dog when I brought him in for his last bath (he was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks earlier). Brody LOVED to get groomed and she did an amazing job. I'll be forever grateful to her for making him so happy. The girls even refused to charge me or take a tip!!!
