I recently visited this Petco store to buy refrigerated dog food for my pet. I normally do not check expiration dates closely, but this time I happened to look at the items one by one before paying and noticed that one of the dog food products in the fridge was already expired. Thankfully I caught it before purchasing, but it was concerning to see expired pet food still being displayed for sale. Pet owners trust stores to keep products safe and properly monitored, especially refrigerated food items. I hope the management can improve routine checking of expiration dates to prevent this from happening again and ensure the safety of pets. read more

I'm really disappointed with the grooming service at PETCO lately. Been taking my dog here for nearly two years and sadly the previous groomer left. While the new groomer seems nice and does a decent job, but the pricing and management make no sense. I used to pay no more than $60 monthly for the service and now PETCO pushed me into paying extra for their "VIP" service because they said my dog took too much time. Ok fine, but then now they started adding even more charges every 15 minutes just to brush my dog's hair. Isn't brushing supposed to already be part of grooming -- especially when paying for VIP service? Now each grooming visit already comes out to over $100, and that's AFTER the Vital Care Premium discounts are applied. When I brought it up to the manager, I was told my dog took too much of the groomer's time and they couldn't service other dogs at the same time. That explanation honestly makes no sense to me. Why would one groomer be handling multiple dogs during the same appointment anyway? Shouldn't the groomer focus on finishing one dog properly before moving to the next? I understand some dogs take longer, and I don't mind waiting if my dog is being cared for correctly. What I do mind is feeling constantly upsold and hit with surprise charges after already paying premium prices. Definitely not the experience I expected. read more

Very clean and well organized and stocked store, probably the most organized Petco that I've been to. The state of the feeders were pretty good too, I usually see lots of dead crickets or dried out Dubia roaches but from what I saw, everything was good. I also really liked that this location had lots of toys and other non-pet supply goods for people who want to get gifts for humans or to pacify a child with something inanimate rather than irresponsibly getting a living creature, so big kudos to Petco for this! Reptile enclosures when I went were clean and I liked the size and the healthy look of the crested gecko they had when I was there. I also saw artwork for some of their aquarium pets so I do love that bit of individuality and creativity that make the shop more genuine and less of a big box franchise. Solid pet store! read more

We took the Fundamentals Class with Jared (6mo+) for our 11-month old puppy. He was attentive and flexible. His knowledge and skill set was very helpful with easing our new puppy rescue woes! I've been going to this grooming place for years but my regular groomers left so I decided to try another groomer. I took my big dog to get groomed and i told them to just use the longest clip they have for his fur and the shaved him so short and it was so choppy. Then I took my little dog to get groomed a week later because I pre booked their appointments months in advance. So I decided to give the groomer another try but the fur was very short again and they cut my little dog right under the eye which I don't care about the fur being short because it will grow back but cutting my dog is not okay. So I will not be going back after years. I need to find a new groomers who cares. By the way my old groomers from the same petco used to take 4 hours which I didn't mind because they took their times with the hair cut and were patient with my dogs because they are old and can not stand for long periods of time. But now the new groomers finish in an hour and 15 mins and it showed they don't take their time and they don't care about your dog. Also the groomer said my big dog was bad because not standing for him when he needed his hair cut but he was rushing the hair cut to finish fast and my dog can't stand for that long because his has arthritis and hip dysplasia which they knew about because I noted it and it's on their file. read more

just came in to buy cat litter and bro at the cashier stand interrupts the customer he's helping to ask me exactly what i came in the store to get in a very patronizing manner- I am no thief and that's the angle he seemed to be going for. I bought 3 of the Good Lovin' Dog Chews brand water buffalo beef straps from this store. Each shrink wrapped package contains 2 beef straps. This is my first time buying them in the shrink wrapped packaging, previously they were sold open (no shrink wrap) with a product label wrapped around the beef straps. When I got home and opened the first package roughly 30 black bugs spilled out on to my counter top and floors and they quickly took off in all directions. I'm not a bug person, I have a real big fear of bugs. And it took me several hours of anxiety ridden effort to try and track all of them down. I made a few calls to the store to let them know what happened. They said I could bring the packages back for a refund. In one call they stated that these bugs seem to "form inside the packaging when the items haven't sold for a while" I was also told it was common place for the store to clear and clean the shelves when these black bugs appear. No where on the packaging does it caution product may contain bugs. I returned the packaging in store to a staff that was rude. It was right before closing and the girl on cash register 1 was talking with a friend while a line of 15 people wait. Eventually another cashier opened up as the line shuffled to this new cashier the former kept her conversation going. When it was my turn at the register I was asked to stand to the side so she could clear the line of customers. I wasn't exactly thrilled to be waiting longer to return these bugs. I was then told Petco would reach out to me. They did, and basically they told me they were unable to help me because I didn't have the product number on hand. I brought my rescue dog in for one-on-one training with Jared, and he has been absolutely amazing. Jared is incredibly patient and was more than willing to help with my dog, who has some social issues due to his background. With Jared's guidance, I've learned how to better work with my dog, and I've truly seen him flourish through the training. I highly recommend their training services. I'm giving a 5 stars because of Tiffany, she was immensely helpful, I came into the store kind of lost and she sensed that and asked me if I needed some help, I told her my situation with my uncles neglected dog, not only did she recommend a brilliant diy solution for my problem, but also asked if I needed anything else, she made excellent recommendations from a brush, to healthy snacks for the dog to preserve the coat, she also had a lot of knowledge to spread about animals! She found me shampoo in a heartbeat, and was really kind to my uncles dog. I'm thoroughly impressed by her outstanding customer service. Quick shout out to Andy who checked my items out at the front, signed me up for discounts with my info, displayed genuine curiosity and complimented my uncles pup! Very friendly and playful staff. The most terrible place for dog grooming. I paid $130 for dog grooming combs. After bringing the dog home, I found that the groomer didn't even bathe my dog. Firstly, I found that the ears were completely not cleaned. Then I found that the hair was still not smooth and the anus was dirty. The groomer only did a haircut. Never go there again. read more

My elderly, senile mother made an appointment here to have her little dog groomed. She told me 3:30. I picked the dog upband when I got to the grooming room, there were 3 girls there, standing together doing nothing. They ignored me for a few minutes. Finally they acknowledged that I was there I told them I was there to have this dog groomed. They were kind of snotty when they told me I was late. I asked if they could still take her and one of them said no. I've been in customer service. In management. If I had, had workers this lazy and rude, they would have been fired. I watched and they were empty for over 30 minutes. Maybe they're just minimum wage workers and really don't give af. It's too bad. This little dog really needs it, I've got the owners credit card and was prepared to tip well. I'll find someone else. I wouldn't even try these people again. read more

We happened in here by chance: having had dinner at Sizzler with the kids and walking to Yogurtland. We just put a deposit on a new Frenchie puppy after meeting him at the breeder, so we were excited to get "Hershey" some swag. In addition to buying the requisite toys, sweaters, harnesses and the like, we also got some good advice from the staff working there. The two sales people we met were well versed in Frenchie's and agreed to continue the puppy food our breeder was using and recommending. They also gave good advice on when to microchip our little guy and the obvious caution walking him since Frenchie's are, sadly, routinely jacked from their owners. The place is on the darker side, more likely the paint than the lighting, but the parking is good and the clerks are better. It's unfortunate it's so out of the way for us, because my wife and I really liked the staff working here. If we have to head out to meet our breeder again or if the kids want to go the Sizzler near here rather than Fullerton, than we'll have an excuse to come back. Been shopping here for years, literally for everything I need for my dog and cat. I am a Vital Care member for both my cat and my dog, and even have a Petco Credit Card. Loyal Customer here! Yesterday evening 10/25/23 @ around 7:45pm, for the first time.. I encountered a problem with my dogs food. I was pouring out the last of the bag and a chunk of food + mold came out of it. I was disgusted and immediately took the food and the bag to Petco to let them know. This is the Purina Pro Plan Specialized Sensitive Stomach 35lb bag. I can't remember the employees name, but I went in and explained what I had found.. I said I did not have a receipt however, I use my rewards # for every purchase and asked them to look it up. Her immediate response was I only had 30 days to return. I was actually shocked at her response. I didn't expect an apology from her, because it's not her fault the bag of food turned out to be bad, but I also didn't expect her attitude... this could really have made my dog sick. She made it seem as though I was just trying to get a free bag of food, but come on... for the amount of money I spend here... do you really think I would do all this for 1 bag of food. She questioned me endlessly, and it wasn't until I realized the exact date I purchased the bag that she acknowledged the date, even though it was on her screen already. (I only remembered this because I got home from vacation that same day and saw that we were out of food so I rushed to Petco) I bought this bag of food just a few weeks ago - October 9th, to be exact. I added the date and time above because if Petco reviews these at all.. I believe the woman I dealt with may have been a lead or manager and may need some customer service training. 2 Stars here because this is the first time I've had an issue with an employee with a poor attitude, they're not all bad. on Wednesday July 9 I took my dog dolly for shampoo and cut within an hour I received a call from the groomers states she couldn't finish dolly she didn't bath her she sent her home with the worse hair. cut they nipped her and didn't tell me sent her home didn't cut her head left patches of cut hair all over her body, they advised me to take her to a groomer however PETCO advertises pet grooming the person there has no experience this was the second time she complained about cutting dolly's hair becareful I advise you NOT to take your pets there ! dolly has been going to petco co for over a year ! and this is the treatment we get ! read more

So, I don't usually like to rip on a business, and I'm pretty easygoing, so it takes a lot to piss me off, but my recent trip to this Petco highly upsetted me, as well as the other 7 customers behind me in line. Picking up a bag of dog food, getting in line at the only check out stand opened. Ahead of me was a couple talking to the cashier, talking about they're little puppy, then talking about puppy training, what will it do, what are the pro's & cons, how much will it cost.....and so on........and so on......and so on!! Then it was time to sign up for puppy training, the cashier had to leave to go somewhere and get the form, help them fill out the form. At this time, some of the customers behind me started looking for another employee, to see if they can open up another check stand, they couldn't find anybody else in the store. Getting back to the couple, so when you hear them start talking about their past experiences with dogs, and they start laughing, my blood starts to boil. So when all of that was done, we all thought finally. But no, it was now time to pay for their purchases. A total of 18 minutes before that fiasco was completed. You think I was pissed, you should of heard the the people behind me, moaning & grumbling. To make thing worse, the cashier never apologized for the delay, and said she didn't even noticed the long line......hello, space to earth, is anybody home??? VERY small Petco. No fish department. I drove 20 min to get there. I saw no information that stated there was no fish.

I've been here a handful of times. Every time I stop in, all of the employees seem annoyed. I always tell myself that I'm never going back but I find myself wanting to give them another chance...up until recently. I had to pick some food up for my pup and ordered curbside since it was a ways away and I didn't have much time. When I arrived, I notified the store I was there through the app. I waited so long and no one came out, I was running out of time(I was on my break), so I decided to go inside. The store was slow. 1 customer at the register, and 2 cashiers. I walked up to the available register and a younger looking, dark haired guy was behind the counter. He didn't seem busy, just standing there. I stated that I had been waiting for quite some time and no one had brought my order out so I decided to walk in. He proceeded to grab the mobile device in front of him, chuckle and say, "Oh, okay (chuckles again) can I get your order number? (More chuckles)". I was already clearly annoyed because I had been waiting forever while the store was practically empty and now, I didn't understand why this person was laughing at the fact that I had been left waiting. ?? I decided not to say anything at the time because frankly, I didn't have the time to deal with his unprofessional attitude, so I took my order and left. I am a newer dog mom and will never waste my time at Petco again. I will shop at PetSmart or chewy.com, where they have much better customer service and don't seem annoyed or laugh in your face. Visited my local Petco store to buy some gadgets for my new pup. My hubby and I walked in - no greeting [all good] and began to look for crates. We walked around the store a few times, searching and we found them on top of the shelves where the dog food is at. There was an employee in the next aisle scanning inventory - paid no attention to us - no biggie, but just note that employees here will not go out of their way for you. My hubby pulled the box down from on top - two boxes - to compare the crates. I looked it up online and saw that it was on sale - Reg 120$ but online, it was for sale for 50$ - so went to the cashier to check the price and the cashier scanned telling us it was 120$ and we told him if he can match the online price and he did!!! I totally did not know Petco would do that, but note - you must tell the cashier because the employees won't know....so it seems. This is by far the worst Petco around. Whittier and La Habra are worlds away from this one. The staff is unfriendly and hard to find. Checkout is confusing. I had to move 3 times, and I had 180lbs of litter in my cart. What is going on here???? And let's not talk about the parking- horrible. Also, while leaving with my 180lbs of litter, my cart got stuck in the door going out...an employee was walking by and didn't even offer to help!?!? But a customer who was standing outside further away then the employee ran over to help me. This place needs help. read more

The groomer hurt my dog by going to deep when they saw his skin was sensitive. Never take ur dog to petco in West Covina. My poor baby is hemorrhaging because he is 12 years of age and they groomed him too deep to the point it gave him internal bleeding! Handel older dogs carefully! Please. read more
