Very rude customer service. The cashier ERIC is very rude. I came into the store to buy a treat for my dog I also asked to us the rest room, he laughed and said there's a BevMo next door. I also told him that I don't appreciate him being rude and that I was going to leave a bad review for there customer service. He laughed again an said go for it. In my opinion if your not happy with where you work then don't work there. If you can't be courteous to your own customers. At the end of the day no customers means no business. Now, they want you to get the Petco app or you can't use your coupons or any rewards without it. Terrible customer service. I will never be shopping here-- or at any Petco location-- ever again. I purchased a somewhat expensive item at this location, and then received the same item as a gift. I was unable to get back to the store within the return window, so I knew I probably wouldn't get my money back. I went back to this location to see if it was possible to at least get store credit, and honestly if they had said no I would have been disappointed but not upset or surprised. The manager told me they couldn't process the return in the store computers unless customer service unlocked the transaction. The manager had a bad attitude when he told me this, but i chalked it up to the holidays and the store being busy that day. I called customer service, spent 30 minutes on hold, and was told I was good to go. I return to the store AGAIN and was told the transaction wasn't unlocked and that I had to call customer service AGAIN and and return to the store AGAIN, which is absurd. At this point they should be offering to call customer service to straighten this out for me -- they weren't even busy. Long story short: if they had told me up front I couldn't return the item for store credit that would have been fine. But don't make me return to the store 3 times and call customer service multiple times on a ridiculous wild goose hunt. I've been a good customer and have spent a lot of money here, and I expected better treatment. From now on I'm only shopping at Chewy.com. read more

I came in last night, super last minute because I was planning on getting a cat. I was super lost but Corrine saw me (and I should've asked for the spelling of her name) she came right over to rescue me. She went over the litter options for me, which I opted in for pellets, she also went over food information and showed me a better treat option too for my brand new kitty. She was super informative and helpful, she went above and beyond her customer service duties and assisted me with the items to the car. She explained the rewards that Petco has when you sign up. My adorably playful and rambunctious kitten was in need of a new, durable scratching post. We set out to petco and found just what we wanted, however the price seemed a bit steep. When googling the product later, Petco's website popped up advertising the post at 41.99. Great! In stores it was priced at 69$ and cut down to 59$. When seeing such a drastically different price online, I though perhaps I had been looking at the wrong tag or they forgot to show the newer marked down price. Got back in the car and drive back to petco, excited by the prospects of making my kitten's night. Quickly grabbed the post, pulled up the product online on my phone, and went to check out. Showed the lady at the cash register the price difference, expecting her to match what is advertised online. She said -& and I quote "I know we do price match but I don't think we do our own store" -_______- ..She called the manager. Manager ERIC arrived and was rude as ever. I showed him the website. Dumbfounded, I asked, "Where on here does it say this is an online only price or deal?" (Because it doesn't. Anywhere.) His response: "it's online." AGAIN, are you kidding me. I've never dealt with a corporation that would do this. He said "We can have it shipped to you for the online price, will take 6 business days" ..this doesn't work for us because in our apartment situation, there isn't a good place to drop mail. We asked if we could have it delivered to the store and we'd pick it up then. Of course no cigar. He said the charge up was for SAME DAY CONVENIENCE???? I have NEVER. Never. Went in at about 8:30 to get a few tiny guppie fish for my aquarium and when I found the ones I wanted I asked for assistance at which point it was 15 minutes before they closed. I waited 10 minutes for someone to help me then they said they stop selling pets 5 minutes before they close but I could come back tomorrow. First of all I'm already here now and it'll take you like 5 minutes to get me my fish, second I've already been waiting 10 minutes for someone to assist me, and third, there were literally people shopping in the store still. It's not like I was the last customer in there and they were waiting for me to leave. I get it, you want to go home, I work in the service industry and I hate when people want to order stuff after we've closed or come in right before we close but like I wouldn't have affected the time they left at all. They could've helped me they just didn't feel like it. And on pride month?? I'll be getting my neon tetras elsewhere. Hint of humor but true nonetheless. read more

Just Remodeled!!!!!! I had no idea this store was being remodeled. It is the closest to me but I would normally go to Unleashed on victory for the Self-Wash. This place looks amazing now and they added a Self Wash station with 3 tubs, each with their own blow dryer. If you normally go use a self wash at any other location, you know well that you normally have to rush to dry your dog because there are normally 3 tubs and only two dryers. I can't wait to take my dog for his first wash there. There is also a clinic now in there. Probably for the days that they do low cost vaccines. Pretty nice! The store looks so much bigger and really clean. It did take me a while to locate things being that I'm not used to the layout yet. read more

Unknowledgeable staff who doesn't want to help you. Was there thirty minutes trying to find fish medicine and staff would not help. Saw a few dead betta fish in bowls and betas were thrown on the shelves, cart and stacked disgustingly. The fish here look sick and purely maintained.staff will it move away from the register counter unless forced, and when asked for help they are put out. Medium sized petco but Is not stocked well on supplies and workers seemingly are uninterested in animals. Wish there were more pet stores in this area to take this place out of business. My least favorite petco so far and I've lived all over southern CA. read more

Staff were friendly, but aquatics was neglected. Tanks are riddled with ich and fin rot (livebearers specifically) courtesy of their vendors, so make sure to quarantine and treat any new fish purchases. Hold on to your receipt! read more

Took ten minutes for someone to help me while waiting for the station, and when I finally got the towels and shampoo needed, the man who set me up I guess just... left? So when the dryer wasn't working properly and I needed extra towels, no one could help me. I was told all the grooming people went home for the day, and so I took my very wet dog home. read more

Oh the joy of washing the dog! The new doggy self-wash at our local Petco makes bathing our sweet boy quick and easy. And Petco does all the clean up afterwards. It's "no frills" compared to a more expensive doggy spa, but a great and convenient service. Pay in advance at the checkout counter and for only $10, you'll get a basket filled with bottles of doggy shampoo and conditioner, massage brush, slicker brush, and clean white towels. You can bring in your own doggy soap too. There are 3 washing stations, each equipped with a flexible water hose and sprayer, wall mounted blow dryer, and a vinyl apron to keep you from getting water logged. It's easy to get a big dog into the bath and there's a wall harness to keep them safe and secure. The self-wash is spotlessly clean, and I saw an employee sanitizing a previously used station. This is a two part review: Part 1...I became the proud owner of a Cavalier King Charles this June, her father is a therapy dog so I knew I wanted to start her right away with AKC S.T.A.R. and AKC Good Canine Citizen training, I walked into the Sherman Oaks store and Jay the assistant store manager, who used to be a trainer was more than happy to help me and explain Petco's puppy/dog training process...fast forward 8 weeks and my little Tilly just graduated from Puppy 1 and is moving into Puppy 2 classes, we LOVE Julie the trainer, she is very well versed on dog training and has helped us with everything from proper harnesses, to potty training to biting and chewing, I am very pleased with my puppies training thus far and am going to keep on going! Part 2: We are having a difficult time handling our puppy when it comes to grooming as she is teething and bites us at every chance she gets...so per Julie's recommendation to get our pup better used to being handled we called up Adam at the grooming salon and brought our pup in this past Sunday. Not only is Adam the nicest guy you can tell he absolutely loves dogs! I asked if they could only use oatmeal bath and no perfume, grind her nails and take a little off the behind to make #2 time less messy he took notes and when we picked up our Tilly she looked like she just walked off the showroom floor! she looked beautiful! and of course like most "children" who are very well behaved for strangers, she was a perfect angel for Adam and the staff and no one lost a finger!...Oh and did I mention...$15 bucks! that's it $15 for a puppy bath, coat brushing, nails grind & ears cleaned! I love the remodel of this store, they seem to have more inventory now, bigger selections and I can always find a staff member somewhere in the store to help me...I give a big 5 stars to the Sherman Oaks PetCo! read more

Not sure who could ever have a bad Petco shopping experience but apparently there's a first time for everything. I bought cat food at a different location and was told "If your cats don't like it just being bs k the food at least 50% remaining". Great I thought, my cats ended up not liking the food, no problem I'll just exchange it- should be easy... . I called THIS location before arriving at the store, the associate says "The food bag needs to be 75% full". Okay that's a BIG difference than 50%, either way I wasn't worried because again, my cats didn't like it and so they didn't eat it. I come to the store to exchange, put the cat food up- an associate calls the manager (apparently only they can handle it) before calling her he tells me "Cat food needs to be 75% remaining" again- no clear understanding of if it's 75% or 50% between stores, but again I'm not worried. He weights the bag, 3.9 pounds remaining from a 5 pound bag, calls the manager and tells her "yeah looks like there's less than 50% reaming". WTF?? Does this associate not know basic math??? The manager "Daniella" comes over and when I say she's literally the embodiment of "old and bitter" trust me I'm not lying. This Woman looks like she's rather be setting cats on fire instead of being at her job, and she's the manager! I tell her I don't have my receipt, before I can finish my sentence she cuts me off and says "there's nothing I can do but give you store credit" How about being quite and letting customers finish their sentence first???? I told her "That's fine because I don't want my money back, I want the cat food that i our up to be exchanged for." She gives the most ANOYED "oh okay" face and does the exchange. I mean how on earth can a team of people make Petco, a store literally filled with cute fluffy animals a bad shopping experience??? The attitudes, the lying on the phone on a customer, the disrespect towards a customer. Insane. Avoid this store if you can, I recommend the on in Ventura by the FedEx. read more

Adding to the rest of the 1 stars for the grooming department. They're lazy and don't take the time to take care of your dog. Instead they just completely shave them unevenly, don't brush teeth or trim nails (even tho you're charged for it) and put the blame on you for not "keeping up with grooming". Fammia kept saying we should have groomed him sooner when I had stated multiple times, he was extremely sick and had life threatening surgeries over the last month! My goldendoodle walked out looking like a wholeass different dog, all his hair completely unevenly shaved off, INCLUDING HIS FACE, because they claimed he was excessively matted. I have photos showing his face wasn't completely matted and could have done with a teddy round cut to cut some hairs that were matted due to a number of barium vials he had to consume for his scans. We haven't had this issue at any other petco, but goes to show it was my fault for booking here. Chris was the one who handled the grooming and so much for the initial consult that went out the door. Nothing was followed. My dog did not need to be shaved to nearly his SKIN. read more

I just wanted to give a huge shout out to MARGE for always taking care of everything we need when it comes to our guinea pig. Unfortunately I wasn't able to keep it for personal reasons but MARGE helped my family and I out every single time. She makes our visits quick and gives us all the information we need for our guinea pig. You can tell she really knows what she's doing and she cares about her work and customers. This is review is only about the grooming dept. My dog (black lab mix), Hannah, has been coming here for years. The staff here is ultra friendly and my dog loves coming here. She's probably the only dog that scratches the swinging wood door anxious to come in for a bath. (I know - crazy!) They truly make my dog smell and look good.
