When I shared that I still very much wanted to work with Steve, she later went out of her way to find us an earlier date than originally offered after I asked to be notified of any cancellations. Right from the consultation, Octavia was friendly and reassuring and helped us understand that our dog was just a little special to no fault of our own. After discussing our concerns, what we hoped to get out of training, and our schedules we opted for the 24 session home and train package. Given mine and my bf's work schedule, we initially thought we would only attend a few sessions a week and have Octavia work with our puppy for a majority of the time. However, that quickly changed and Octavia worked with me and my literally ridiculous work schedule to make sure we found something that worked for all of us. Working with Octavia made us realize the training is as much for the dog as it is for the human. She didn't push any strict rules that I've seen other trainers mention, such as not allowing the dogs on furniture, and really factored in what would be practical in our lives as dog parents and what we wanted. As with all things, it takes time to find out what works best for each dog. Octavia was very patient in explaining and walking us through everything. She was always open for questions and answering whatever concerns I had about my dog even if it wasn't directly related to our training session. It's been almost a year and finding Octavia as a trainer has been the best thing that could happen to our family. What other trainer could you find that will shed tears with you from seeing your dog go from being unable to walk without tugging on a leash, to being able to walk at a heel off leash in just a few weeks (with still plenty of sessions to go!). Not only does she care and love our dog that she trains, she also extends that warmest to our other dog. My puppy Yumi, now 17 weeks old, has been through Harmony School from 9-12 weeks, which came with 4 group lessons, and 1 private instruction. She's still going to school once a week to help give me some much-needed relief, and I'm hoping to start private lessons soon after my travel plans. Shanni and Brenna were instrumental during those first brutal two weeks with Yumi. I had major puppy blues - stressed about making sure she was okay, stressed about accidents, and desperate to set her up for success. This stress, combined with virtually no sleep (taking Yumi out every 20 minutes when awake and sleeping near her the first few days to soothe her), was a recipe for doubt and regret. I was that pet parent who would call frantically about any diarrhea or accident, text essay-length questions, and send way too many videos and notes about the schedules and patterns I'd observe, obsess over, and worry about. This incredible team met every single concern with patience, understanding, and practical solutions. The first time I dropped Yumi off at school was the first time I'd taken a break in a week - it was much-needed relief that allowed me to reset and find a routine that worked for me. Instead of fighting against her nature and her age (she's just a toddler!), I learned to work with her and celebrate every victory. The resources and support I received have set both Yumi and myself up for success. Yumi has grown into a beautiful, confident, and sweet-natured pup. She's well socialized, sleeps through the night from 10-7am, tries her hardest to not jump when greeting others, and can now be left alone for 3-4 hours at a time, which has been huge. She's still a working dog with tons of energy, but Shanni has guided me through how to tire her out mentally via shaping, soft chews, increasing difficulty in fundamentals, and teaching me how to actually train my dog. Her guidance helped me learn to see Yumi for who she is instead of who I want her to be, and how to debug and break down behaviors to address instead of treating undesired ones as 'issues' (like barking, digging, or jumping on people). It's been such a joy and privilege raising Yumi, but I definitely wouldn't have gotten here without Shanni and her team - the true village supporting my single pet parenthood lifestyle. He encouraged me to create healthy boundaries with Mango and offered practical solutions, along with dietary supplements, to support her emotionally and physically. Our trainer, Tom, was patient with our dogs who were a little shy with some of the obstacles. He gave them time to try again, and believed in them to do better next round. After the session we discussed training goals and he was also very knowledgable about how to help our pups be able to do the tricks, task, obedience commands we are hoping for. The only bummer is how expensive it is. We want one of our pups to learn herding, but they don't have that as a workshop yet. The only option for now would be to do private lessons. Hopefully they introduce new price plans in the future that maybe offer more bulk discounts or discounts for off peak hours, etc. We're really hoping to bring the pups back!

We honestly can't believe the difference we've seen in Sienna since working with Lori and her team…read more We've put a tremendous amount of time, money and effort into training Sienna, since she was a puppy. From basic and advanced obedience to agility and calm down classes, with multiple trainers and programs, we tried just about everything. While those programs helped build a good foundation, none really addressed her reactivity. We were often told it was typical Border Collie behavior, but as she got older, it progressively worsened and eventually turned into aggression. She reacted intensely to dogs, children, people, bikes, squirrels, and just about anything that moved. Once she became fixated, nothing seemed to get her attention back. After researching and consulting with several trainers throughout the Bay Area, we found Lori. Her 20+ years of experience with obedience and behavioral challenges really stood out. She was knowledgeable, honest, and direct from our first consultation. We were hesitant about a board-and-train program and initially had reservations about balanced training methods, but decided to trust her experience. We're so glad we did! Throughout the program, Lori shared videos of Sienna's progress. We sincerely appreciated each of the videos. Each time, we were amazed at how much she had improved.  Lori's facility is also professionally maintained, clean, spacious and has the right equipment setup, along with the proper 24/7 supervision. They even have shade canopies throughout! Her team truly cares for the dogs and clients.  One thing we really appreciate about Lori is that she doesn't sugarcoat things. She's straightforward, direct and will tell you what you need to hear, even when it means recognizing mistakes in your own training habits. You must be coachable to mesh well with her program and be the best you can for your pup. We learned that some of the methods we'd previously been taught were actually contributing to Sienna's reactivity. Lori helped us understand how to communicate with Sienna differently, and it made a tremendous difference. Sienna also absolutely loves Lori and her team, which means a lot to us. After the board & train program we brought home a noticeably calmer, happier, and more confident dog. During a follow-up session, Lori took us into real-world situations around playgrounds, children, and basketball courts, all things that previously would have triggered Sienna. We couldn't believe how well she handled them. We recently took Sienna to Los Gatos Creek Trail, and she walked calmly beside us, passing people, children, and cyclists without pulling, barking, lunging, or showing aggression. Not a single reaction to bikes passing right alongside us! For anyone who knew Sienna before, that's an incredible accomplishment. We know there's still work ahead and that consistency is important, but Lori and her team have given us the tools and confidence to continue helping Sienna succeed. through her program, we've seen more progress than we thought possible. We are at a point we can trust Sienna walk with us off leash in a controlled setting, with the right tools and supervision, but understanding this will still take heavy work. We're incredibly grateful to Lori and her ENTIRE team and would absolutely recommend her to anyone struggling with serious reactivity or behavioral challenges. The first year with my golden retriever, Luka, was extremely hard. He was a mouthy dog who had zero boundaries at home or outside. He would get excited or frustrated and grab/bite onto my shoes or clothes daily. Walking him became an impossible task because he was extremely dog-reactive, and he dragged me a couple of times while trying to chase another dog. Walking him also became a two-person job, with someone always on the lookout for other dogs so we could turn the other way. He also began to resource guard and snapped at my dad twice.. I had already spent thousands on another trainer and didn't have much success. I began to feel like this was just what life with Luka would be like forever. It got to the point where I felt scared of him, and the life I was giving him out of that fear wasn't fair to him. So I decided to try and get help one last time. I found Lori's page and after reading the reviews I became hopeful again. I took Luka in for an evaluation, and Lori recommended their board-and-train program. I can't thank Chelsea and Lori enough for everything they've done. I've learned so much about Luka, how to manage different situations, and how to better understand his behavior. We had training lessons throughout his board-and-train stay and afterward, because we are the ones who need most of the training! Chelsea did an amazing job with Luka. At home, Luka is unrecognizable in the best way. We can actually go on adventures outside without being terrified that we won't be able to handle him. After my initial conversation with Haley, I was able to successfully work through the separation anxiety and cat reactivity on my own, then had a series of training sessions to address the dog reactivity. Before training, walks with Sophie caused me so much anxiety - we had to stay far away from any dogs to avoid the embarrassing meltdowns. Going on any trails near dogs was out of the question. With training, swapping her collar and lots of practice on our own, we now regularly walk busy trails and beaches and have fun! Sophie can now pass 10-20 dogs on Los Gatos Trail without issues.
