Do not get your animals groomed here. If you do make sure cutty is not the groomer. She admits she has a low skill level and can't handle grooming most dogs. My dog is 6 years old and has been to multiple groomers and as soon as he came back after she groomed him he was timid and scared and didnt come out of him kennel for almost a day. Please don't let her hurt your animal too! I then went to another groomer and they told me i didn't have to go back to them but to please never go back to where i went before because they could tell my dog was mistreated and abused the last place he was groomed. read more

We have come here frequently to get our dog groomed and had great experiences. Most of the groomers have been consistent, friendly, and reliable. The last time we went for a grooming however, we were very disappointed. Our dog was basically shaved completely, which is what we asked, but there were random long tufts of hair on his head, legs, and body. He was very uneven. He did not smell like he had had a bath or had his ears cleaned. Grooming is expensive and time consuming, so I called the store to explain the situation. I spoke with the store manager, Aaron, who was extremely friendly and understanding. He quickly told me I could come in for a refund, and that their policy is 100% satisfaction. There were no questions asked, and I felt much better about the situation. I will definitely be coming back to this store for grooming, but will ask for a different groomer and be extremely clear about my expectations. read more

This grooming department here is horrible.I brought my 17 week old Yorkie poo here to receive her first trim. The experience was tremendously horrible. This was her first grooming appointment so we were excited to see how she did and to get her trimmed up. Before arriving I called to make sure they knew I only wanted her to be trimmed and bathed. As I loved her new fluff from just receiving her curls. They assured me that would be fine and there would be no issues as she was just a puppy.I went onto the appointment dropped my puppy off and when I returned my dogs hair was completely shaved near bald. I was devastated to say the least and was greeted with little to no remorse. I was stunned. I went and retrieved the manager myself and upon arriving he did apologize and offered to refund me my money and that was it. Not only me but my dog was devastated. As she was still a puppy and this was her first cut all her curls and hair gone. She went from looking like a puppy to five years old.I will never use their grooming service again and would recommend anyone to stead clear. read more

I had the worst experience ever, the groomers are the worst people who don't know how to handle complaints or listen to what you like and needs, but continues to ask you. I have a yorkie and I'm always a happy person and these people are absolutely horrible at their job. I came in this time for just a bath and ear trim for my yorkie and a bath for my other dog. They continue to bully me about not liking their previous grooming job when all I'm asking for is baths. To top it all off I called the goomers to let them know I'm running a little bit behind about 10 minutes before apt and they said it's okay. I got there 13 minutes late and they talked to me for 8 then look at me and say "oh and your late 20 minutes," super disrespectfully. I'm never that one person to go and comment anything negative but when it comes to my dogs they are my kids. I'm absolutely never going to the groomers unless they get a new staff. The store manager is amazing. I have to give it to her. I talked to her about my frustrations and she was more than amazing the first time and even now as I try to give them another chance because of her. "Cutty" (salon manager) and Zoey have been at this location the longest and have both bathed my dog. She's a nervous baby and they're always so gentle and reassuring with her, I don't trust anyone else to bathe her or do her nails. Whenever we walk into the salon she's so excited to see them both and is more than happy to walk into the back with them for her baths! I can't even get her near the bath tub in our own home! Thank you both for taking such great care of my baby girl! My family appreciates it. I was here looking at hamster stuff for my hammy and there was a woman who was looking for a hamster for her kids. The sales associate misinformed her that it was ok to house two Syrian hamsters together. It is a known fact that Syrian hamsters are solitary and they will fight and injure or kill each other if kept in the same cage. It was unconscionable. She also told her that it was ok to house both in a cage that would've been too small for even one. Just very disappointing as I've shopped at Petco for decades. The groomers have always been good with my little man and I don't trust anyone else to get me the results I want, I know he can be a handful for nail trims so I really appreciate their hard work with getting it done for me. I had a great experience in the stores today! I've been in a few times before for food and litter, but I needed a few more items today. The store was clean and well laid out, and when it came to checking out, pur cashier Noah was a rockstar! There was a big sale and additional coupon on the website today and he patiently went through and matched all the prices for us! He was so helpful and friendly, and I know it can be frustrating and time consuming to do price adjustments. Terrible customer service, over-priced, & ridiculous policies!   I have never posted a complaint about any business but my experience at the Northgate Petco in Seattle last weekend was beyond frustrating. Our family has shopped Petco over the years for dog, cat, fish, frog, mice, & even tarantula supplies! I went in last Sunday to purchase dog food & planned to purchase a new beta fish. You'd be surprised how much personality these amazing fish actually have. Anyway, after looking through each & every sad plastic beta container, I finally pick a female who seemed to perk up when I stared into her death trap of a dish.  I think to myself, "This is the one I'm going to rescue." and placed her in my cart. The sales associate in the fish area seemed busy & much more concerned controlling the water on the floor from maintenance of the live aquariums than helping customers but I approached him anyway & asked if he could give me advice for choosing a new tank for the beta I just picked out.  Though he was rushed in his answer, he did walk me over to the recommended food & said any 1.5 gal tank should do.  So I wandered down the aisles for another 45 min & did my own online searching to look up ratings/recommendations & check prices at other locations via my phone.  Amazon & other online retailers had the same tanks for much less, savings varied depending on size but I decide to choose one in the middle & figured I'd ask if they price match at the counter. I finally get through the line & after ringing up my items the cashier informs me he can't sell both the beta & the tank together as the tank needs to be set up in advance in case it leaks.  Seriously? I just spent over an hour in your store searching the perfect fish, tank, food, gravel, décor, etc and now you tell me about your policy? I don't recall this level of scrutiny in my prior beta adoption but maybe things have changed. Through experience, I do know this is standard when setting up a tank with multiple fish but for a single beta? Would have been nice if the sales person I asked advice from would have mentioned it before I wasted my afternoon though. And why are there no signs posted anywhere within the store or online that provide this helpful tidbit of info? "Ok fine, I'll skip the tank then and get one cheaper from Amazon", I tell the cashier as I'm wondering, 'does Petco sell a lot of leaky tanks or something?' and 'what's the process for verifying an established & properly functioning tank for customers who did get the policy memo in advance?' The clerk then tells me he can't sell just the fish if it's going to remain in the same container for more than a day.  Um, really?  Perhaps I'm naïve in my assumption that there's no way all these betas are sold to pre-qualified owners before they die alone in a dinky plastic tub without a family to love them. "Well 2 days max via Amazon but how is sitting on your shelf any better than my shelf in the interim?" Clerk sticks to policing policies & doesn't budge. Ok, I appreciate the concern over the well-being of any pet but now I'm irritated because if he only knew the great lengths of extreme care our family gives to any type of animal & I just wasted all this time. I ask him to cancel my purchase of everything in my cart except the dog food & he's clearly annoyed. Well guess what buddy, I'm annoyed too but I maintain composure & thank him as I make my exit. Petco, you just lost hundreds of dollars in sales over a $2.99 fish whom would have had the best life ever & loved beyond belief. I relayed this feedback to your customer service line later this same evening but again, the individual was clueless when it comes to customer service & didn't even ask why I was cancelling my Pals Rewards membership or why I wanted to be removed from all email/mailing lists. My ask is you revisit your policies & improve your employee training, but for now, see ya "Pal". P.S. Yep, I've researched with other local pet stores. Your policy is extreme & ridiculous. read more

I took my dog to get groomed here and the whole process was SUCH a nightmare. When I made my appointment they told me it was at 8am. I told them I had never taken him to get groomed here before and the woman I was speaking to neglected to tell me that the store doesn't open until 9a.m... I went to open the door at 8 but it was locked, no one came to let me in. I looked inside and could see no one. So I decided to take my dog on a walk around the building while I called them to see if someone was there in the back or something. They took forever to answer and when they finally did, the woman I spoke to was very rude and snooty and made a snarky remark saying "well..I've been looking out for you".... Obviously not since I knocked and no one came to the door.... After all of this nonsense, I finally get inside and sign up for the stupid rewards program, give her the rabies paperwork and then she goes to put her hand down and pet my dog and he starts barking. He's not that well trained, but he has NEVER bit ANYONE EVER and just gets overly excited when he meets someone new. I asked her to squat down and give him a treat first before trying to touch him. Instead of giving him the treat she just held it one hand and tried to touch him with the other and he obviously barked at her again. She didn't even give him a chance to warm up to her. Then she instantly was like "nope, I'm not grooming your dog".... I told her if she just gives him a few treats and let's him warm up to her for a few minutes he's always fine and calms down. And she was just like "no I'm not comfortable". I get if your scared and don't want to work with a dog, that's your choice. But at least know how to provide decent customer service and offer me something as a customer to make it right. I got up early to come in, wasted gas and time to drive there and she didn't offer me an apology, no coupon, no nothing. Woukdnt even look at me when I was said "really that's it?" Worst experience I've honestly ever had. I would give them 0 stars if I could... It was absolutely ridiculous. And keep in mind that this wasn't some young person who didn't know what they were doing. She was at least 45. You've been in the world long enough to know how to treat a customer... I have been going to petco grooming for over a year now. I used to go to Kirkland and switched to this one around November 2020. I recently brought my dog, Theo (standard poodle) in for an appointment when Tim refused to do my dog. He was all ready to go before I let Tim know that Theo had tangles at the top of his head and his top of his head is prone to matting.. and to not waste time on that portion of him if he does not have time or if Theo is getting uncomfortable. I brush my dog frequently but he has spots that are more prone to matting and it usually takes me about 10 mins to comb his top of head at home. I explain this all the time to groomers and they NEVER have an issue. Tim refused to do my dog after I had scheduled an appointment at least 2 weeks in advanced and drove 20 mins to get there. He refused all services including just doing face, feet and Fanny. Again for clarification, my dog is not neglected and all of his other fur is perfectly fine to comb.. NOT a neglect issue here. I openly talk about my dog before he goes in so Theo has the best experience and there is no frustration on groomers part. Tim seemed like he was looking for ANY excuse to get out of dog grooming. Very lazy and incompetent. Very unprofessional. Will not be returning. Very upset for my wasted time and I will not be returning to petco grooming again. read more

This Petco location is across the street from Northgate Mall in the same building as Best Buy and Target which makes for some convenient shopping opportunities. The layout is pretty standard compared to any version of this story you could walk into. They offer a wide variety of products for pets of all shapes and sizes although they do tend to focus on the mass marketed brands and not the higher end, healthier options like some of the independent pet stores. There is no shortage of people on staff to help you find whatever you need and the cash register area gets you checked out and on your way as quickly as you would hope. read more

Rate for grooming weren't even close to what they quoted me on the phone and before the appointment. They performed services not requested and charged me for them. They mislead me about how they would trim my dog. (I asked if they would use shears around my Yorkie's head and face, instead they went to use a power shaver/trimmer.) The groomer said she wouldn't trim my dog because he was shaky and stressed. (Had I known about the electric shaver, when we discussed his haircut for 5 minutes prior to appointment, I could have told them that.) When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager, Ryan, he was condescending and rude to me. He suggested that the groomer did not cut his face because she was scared for HER safety. I explained I didn't like the discrepancies and he told me I should bring my dog back for aggression training. WOW! Nothing about this trip was good. Including triple the price I was quoted 2x today. That's what I get for going to a BIG box store in a town teaming with awesome independent stores. Now I know why I was literally the only person in the store! read more

When I got there, they looked at my dog and said she is considered too "long" and would be charged medium pricing which can range from $52-$70 for a 10 lb dog!! how ridiculous. They said she would only be considered a small if she was a yorkie and 10 lbs. My dog met that requirement but because she is a bit longer than a yorkie, she is considered medium. I never had this situation before and this would be my 2nd horrible experience with Petco. The first time they charged me for a small and now they said shes a medium? He comes up to us and was super aggressive and defensive when speaking to us like we were coming there to attack his fish. Note: me and my friend who was with me have been owners of fish for YEARS! My BF and I went into this location for the first time the other day and were browsing the beta fish area, the reptile area, the fish area, the small animals area, the bird area, and NOT ONE SINGLE ASSOCIATE approached us and asked if we needed help. NOT ONE. And, approximately 3 of them had passed us, and even a MANAGER did as well! LOVELY! I decided to purchase a couple few fish. Went around to the register and the cashier was helping one lady, so we were the next in line. The cashier was just flapping her gums having a grand ol' time with the customer. After a few minutes the conversation was dying down... but the cashier was still not letting the customer know she had other people to help! I had to squeeze in to put my stuff on the counter directly in front of them so they both would get the hint as to how rude they are being completely ignoring us! And as I have said before, THERE IS NOTHING I HATE MORE THAN ASSOCIATES NOT VALUING THEIR CUSTOMERS' TIME!! And on top of that, when I asked for a [reptile box] carrier to put the fish in, she was completely dumbfounded as to what that even was. I took my 18 year old Pommie to this location to be groomed on May 13, 2015, Cutty was the groomer who butchered my dog! After 5 hours at the Northgate Petco, I go to pick my dog up and he looked as if they cut his hair with a lawnmower. Cutty then tries to say my dog bit her several times, which I know is BS because she had no bite marks plus my dog has no teeth! I requested a short haircut, my dog is returned to me looking like a shaved rat! Very unprofessional and stinking rotten attitude to boot when I said that I was very unsatisfied and refused to pay. I WILL NOT BE BRING MY DOG HERE TO BE GROOMED EVER AGAIN. Out of a possible 5 points, I give them 1, because I can not give them a negative. If I could give a negative rating, it would a -99! Took my dog to the grooming just for a bath and brush. I felt like the staff (in grooming) were walking around like robots...awkwardly took my 10lb dog from me. It was like she never held a dog before. He is super calm and not wiggly at all either. Once i came back, hours later, they told me that he had a couple mats to shave out. I said okay and was charged an extra amount, but I figured since they got all the mats out it's okay. Petting him in the car, he still had mats and I was able to brush out myself! The location is easy to reach, well organized, and have pretty much of what I need. Every week they have this puppy playtime which is very helpful for socializing and once a month a VETCO comes in and offers cheap vaccinations. I go here a lot and I believe the workers are usually very nice. Only thing is that sometimes there are no people around so I have to wait and look for someone who would help me. read more

GROOMING SALON - PATRICIA (a story) I feel terrible that I have to use the store's Yelp page to write a review for their Grooming Salon, because the rest of the store is wonderful. I went here on 6/17/2017 for a bath and nail clip that I had scheduled for my short-haired dog. PATRICIA the Groomer quickly took my info and then dragged my dog into the grooming room as I stood slack-jawed. It was as though she had never worked with animals in her whole life. I shook it off thinking maybe she was just nervous and would be better with my dog when I was gone. I waited 2 hours with no call before calling THEM and they informed me that my dog was done, but that her nails weren't clipped because my SENIOR DOG WHO NEVER BITES "tried to nip Patricia." No. "Patricia tried calling you but the line was busy. Do you want to come get her now or..." they asked. "Of course I do!" I said, unsure of how one can deduce that a cell phone line is busy since it has call waiting. I figured it was because she called the number from my rewards profile because she never asked me what number to call. When I got there, the other groomer (who had previously injured my dog's nail, but was at least apologetic) was there and apologized for the inconvenience, gave my frightened and shivering dog a complimentary treat bag, and sent me on my way. But PATRICIA, who was busy in the back torturing a small furry thing on the grooming table, barely looked at me. Patricia: If it is busy, you can be QUICK AND ACCURATE without being RUSHED AND DANGEROUS. I have every reason to believe that PATRICIA was a talented hairstylist for people (maybe), but her manner with animals and generally apathetic attitude toward her job at Petco is disturbing and dangerous. I've been very impressed with the customer service that Petco has provided to me. I recently adopted a puppy from a kill shelter in California. some of the products have not worked out and Petco has replace them free of charge and offered a better suggestion. the puppy training classes are on par, with a well-defined schedule and excellent trainer. I really appreciate the personal care and attention they have given to my puppy Cali. I would recommend the Northgate Petco above and beyond any other Petco I have visited. the trainers are understanding capable and willing to work with even the most difficult of breeds. they have decent prices on specialty products and will tailor your needs to your puppy or a grown dog. so in the future shoes Petco Northgate and request puppy training and they will specifically align the training to your dog. read more

I had used this Petco grooming a few times over the last 2 years and been well satisfied with the services rendered and staff interactions. This time I was sadly disappointed to the point that I will not return. The gal checking me in was borderline rude and quite condescending, even going so far as to "educate" me that a puppy cut is a term used exclusively for poodles and I needed to use her terms to describe in great detail what I wanted. While I'm not a professional groomer, I was told that term by the first groomer I used, and in the subsequent 10 years, have never had a groomer not understand what I wanted when I used it. I took my dog for a groom a few weeks ago. Let me just say when I got there, I stood around for ten minutes trying to find a groomer. Then, when she showed up she never smiled and was quite rude to me. It took them TWO hours to groom my dog (bath and nails). My dog was the only dog there! When I picked him up, they charged me more than what was quoted over the phone. After all that, I took my receipt up front to pay (I had to ask where to pay, the groomer didn't explain that part) and the cashier lady was horrible. Not one smile or a simple thank you. DO NOT GROOM YOUR DOG HERE! Today my wife took in our pomeranian chester to get groomed. We got a call 30 minutes after dropping him off, they said he was at the vet but is fine. They would not tell us what happened over the phone so we had to call the vet to find out why. All the Veterinarian told us is that he came in with a missing, bleeding toe nail. After showing up and asking the groomers what happened they just told us he backed up and hurt his nail. I kept asking more questions, that they didn't want to answer. After poking and prodding with the groomers who gave chester to us, it turns out he was not secured, backed up, fell off the table, hurt his paw and it would not stop bleeding. We are now at home with a half shaved dog, in obvious pain with a bandage that won't stay on. We have to play nurse to our poor dog who was left at petco for a grooming, and got dropped off a table, taken to the hospital by a stranger, all while employees would not tell us what really happened. Do not go to the these incompetent groomers. You will regret it. I will be taking Chester in for x-rays to ensure the damage is not worse from him dropping off the table. IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG LIKE YOUR OWN CHILD DO NOT LEAVE HIM WITH THESE POORLY TRAINED, NEGLIGENT GROOMERS. read more

I have been bringing my dog to Cutty for grooming for four years - and have never had an issue. My dog is a mutt, and because I can only afford grooming every few months she is often matted up and filthy. When I pick her up she is clean and happy and doesn't seem traumatized at all. This might be because I always get a very simple haircut, the complaints about Cutty seem to come from people who have very specific grooming requirements - I can't say for certain if Cutty can do fancy haircuts, but my dog loves her and I've never had an issue. Maybe she's not good at fancy haircuts, but for a basic wash, blow-dry, and shave-down she seems completely competent. read more

About a month ago I took my 14 yr old Pomeranian in for a hair cut to be cut down to 1/4 inch in length. The groomer told me that was not possible and told me he could do it to 1/2 inch in length. Furthermore, when it came time for me to pick my dog up, the groomer was not even halfway done with my dog and my dog looked butchered, the groomer also overcharged me by $15.00 ! SHOPPERS BEWARE, DO NOT LET THE MALE GROOMER TOUCH YOUR DOG, CAT OR ANY OTHER PET YOU MAY HAVE, HE HAS A VERY BAD ATTITUDE AND IS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. ALWAYS ASK FOR SHAINA ! ! ! ! :-) I will continue to shop and to bring my dog in for grooming, but the male groomer, you are not to handle, touch my dog in any way ! PETCO NORTHGATE - If you want to have your Schnauzer's eyebrows butchered and ear seriously injured (I can share photos) - I highly recommended this place. I cried when my husband brought my dog home this evening. I used to take my dog for the past several months and the previous manager Mandy used to do a great job. That has changed. I spoke with the new manager (Rebbeca) and asked if she had experience grooming Schnauzers and she said yes - 7 years. I showed pictures of how I wanted his eyebrows to look. One of the worst petco's I've been to in forever! As I was waiting in line for the cashier to help the customer ahead of me (apparently she didn't know how to put on a coat on her dog), it took a bit too long considering the fact I was holding a 50lb sack of dog food in my arms, and there was only one cashier, I decided ok I'll put my bag on the counter while he takes his time helping her, while I did that the cashier rudely told me that I had to wait my turn to check out and in my mind I was like she's done checking out, and there's nothing on the counter. So I took the bag and went to wait in line "four steps back" and as I got there he calls me up, and tries to talk to me about respect, and how he was helping her and it was rude if me to bump in, when was a check out section a customer service section? But all in all I don't think I will go here again, I feel like there's no one working in the store, no one is anywhere to be found to help you with things, unless you ravage through the store to find someone. read more
