Angel (pet groomer/stylist) is great! He did a great job on my pet's nails. He was knowledgeable and was able to help with other issues my dog was having. So i dont know if im writing my review in the right place but this review is for the vet services at the Petco on Alaska Way. We have a 7 year old male cat that my boyfriend has had since he was a kitten. In the past my boyfriend was homeless and was able to get a mobile vet non profit service to administer vaccinations at no cost. But now that hes not homeless anymore he doesnt qualify for that service and the apartment we moved to requires proof of current vaccinations, we cannot find his record as it is packed away but we know he is overdue his vaccinations. So i found the vet clinic at pet co after a quick search online and made an appt. Because this clinic had availability on my boyfriends day off, a coupon for a free office visit and the services seemed to be competitively priced although the pricing was not readily availabile and hard to find on the website and the receptionist quoted even different prices when we arrived for his appt than what was listed online. The "clinic" was a makeshift area set up in an open space with a small screen in a corner of the store with a couple of folding metal chairs available. The owners of the dog that was in front of us in line even though we had an apt. were allowed to stand next to their dog as his vaccination was administered and a deworming medication fed to him which he promptly spit out. The tech laughed, made no attempt to see if he would take any more of it and told them "well hopefully he got some, and did not spit out all of it."When we got called up we warned them our cat did not like strangers and the last time he got vaccinations took a swipe at the vet and we were right there holding him. They brushed it off grabbed his carrier and took it behind the screen and would not allow either one of us to be near him. The older vet assured us she was "good with cats". They open the carrier while its on the table and the older woman who claimed to be good with cats with bare hands held a towel up for about 5 seconds like she was going to smother him, did not seem to be a good technique to calm a terrified cat down. I did not see them do it but i guess they attached him to some kind of halter which only served to upset him more. The tech then observed that he was growling and if he continued to be hostile they would not be able to continue and administer the vaccinations. He lunged and swatted at the tech as she tried to remove him from the carrier while holding the towel up all this occurred within about 2 min at the most, frankly even though she claimed she was good at calming cats down literally made no attempt to soothe him or let one of us be near him to reassure him before she gave up and told us she wouldnt be able to treat him since he was so hostile. And perhaps we should try a mobile service as he seemed to be feral and unsocialized and she was not able to work with him. She quickly left saying she needed a bandaid. The other tech then forcfully stuffed him back in his carrier and told us they would not be able to administer the vaccines and there would be no charge for the office visit which was funny because we got emailed a coupon for a free visit and the receptionist told us they did not charge an office visit fee anyway when we checked in. My boyfriend had to stop her telling her to at least allow him to remove the halter they had attached to him before putting him back in the carrier because we would not be back and we did not want to keep the halter.. Its like they purposely did not try with our cat because they felt like we should not be there to try to get routine care for our cat because we had mentioned we had been homeless and got the vet services from the nonprofit and were not good enough to be there. The comment about how we should seek out care for him from a mobile unit instead was especially unprofessional. She did not even try to win him over like wed just found him and brought him in. We have had this cat for 7 years from a kitten and although we were homeless for about 4 years of his life my boyfriend kept him inside a tiny home he lived in at a sanctioned homeless camp ran by the city. He was never allowed to go outside and he sought out vet care for him his entire life. Plus if we had been able to hold him im sure it would have gone much better as he is not like that with us. For someone who claimed to be good with cats she did not try very hard in my opinion and was demeening and unprofessional. We do not recommend this vet clinic and will find somewhere else that actually does have professional experience working with animals. read more

I live on vashon and rarely come to west Seattle but needed an aquarium filter. Bought a high end filter but when I brought it home it was clear someone had returned a broken one. When I called to ensure another one would be in the store when I come across the water to return it the manager (who had initially answered the call--nothing was escalated) could not have cared less. He could not guarantee a filter would be in stock and would call "if he remembered." Worst worst worst customer service. I will now just return and buy else where. The groomers all look miserable and overworked. One even tried to diagnose my dog with no vet degree in sight, while my actual vet never mentioned the said diagnosis. The work is overpriced and subpar and they don't seem to have a real connection with animals bc there's a long laundry list of things that supposedly happened every time I pick up my dog. Mind you, this only happens when I go to a Petco groomer, but private groomers always seem to manage. read more

For grooming services only. I've had excellent service with them and terrible service as well. On one side we had a late appointment one a day we wanted to leave town. I called and asked if they could take my large dog in early so we could leave sooner. They worked with their other clients and were able to find one that could switch times with me. That effort allowed me to hit the road about 4 hours before I otherwise would have been able to. On the other side they called me 5 days before his grooming session to say the groomer was out indefinitely and they were cancelling my appointment. I hate to write a bad review.... but today I found an apt within about 1 hr at WS Petco. I was little late, but the women at grooming decided to take someone that was early and then proceed to tell me I was too late. OK, but there were no groomers working. So we set another date. My older 10lb dog was told last yr she has a heart murmur. Petco told me I needed a vets approval to bring her there to get groomed. So I got a vets approval letter and when I showed up with it they said sorry we changed our policy few weeks back. The manager explained that due to several deaths, they could no longer accepting vets OKs. Really!! Deaths!! I have had my dogs teeth cleaned and several grooming apps since diagnosed, without problems. I'm sure they have some good groomers and people who love dogs but customer service like this is not to be rewarded. read more

Grooming and training services to cover pretty much anything you might need. Cons: Inventory seems to be shallow. It is hit or miss on if a given product will actually be on the shelf if you walk-in (Strongly suggest you buy online for in-store pickup if you need something specific to avoid a wasted trip.) Website is a mess for booking pet services and phone calls to book can take forever due to limited staff that seem to be very busy with all the pets. Do not book here, I booked an appointment three times now and all three times they have been canceled last minute this last appointment I waited two months for and they called me 30 minutes before my appointment to say that the groomer called out and there's nothing they can do. While I understand that people get sick and emergencies happen it is on leadership to try and find solutions and not just say too bad you waited two months there's nothing I can do. When a customer comes to me with an issue at my store I don't throw my hands up and say sorry bud you're on your own, I hope to find a solution. I'm so angry with the groomer who work with my doggie! In the beginning I told a girl at least two times I had cut short her nails 5days ago, she only need cut hind paw. There is nobody care with her when I pick up, there is no worker stay there just leaving a billing write her name. My doggie is screaming and when I finally find a worker help us pick up, they looks like want we pay money and leave as soon as possible, I feel so weird and when I look at her paw, it have little dry blood I think maybe just a little. Until She back home we found carpet have many blood! I just see her paw have serious injured! I even can not stop that! So when they cut nails never check is it could be cut?????!!!!! I have been waiting for roughly 2.5 months for my dog to be seen. Over the course of that time Petco has rescheduled and cancelled 3 of my grooming appointments. Often with less than 24 hr. notice. I get we are amid pandemic, I get we cannot be in-store but when I visited your stores for clippers after my cancellations, they were also out of stock at all my nearest locations. So imagine my frustration come June 29th, after waiting thru each of those cancellations when my dog was turned away again when I disclosed he had CBD prior to his appointment. If this is your policy, STATE IT CLEARLY. You sell the very CBD I gave my dog in your stores. He was given the recommended dosage. I drove 45 min. and lost a half day of work to be told "it's company policy" -- that would've been useful information during any of the email and phone communication prior to my visit. I won't be shopping with Petco any longer and the suggestion I reschedule to amend your lack of communication is infuriating. read more

Funny how Petco only replies to compliments and not customer complaints, this store really needs new leadership and needs to clean house with store manager Chris which is incompetent and has no sympathy for dog owners or there pets, my dog was apparently banned from grooming which is a joke with out is knowing and being aware after leaving multiple voice mails and being ignore, left notes at grooming department and was told that my dog is not allow, we'll take out business else where and have the balls to call your clients and let them know why your banning them. PLEASE save yourself and your pet heartache and do not get them groomed at this location. I took my two golden retrievers to them for a shorter cut during the summer. They came out SHAVED to the skin which I never have done to them in the 12 and 19 years they were with me. One wound up with razor burn around his privates and the other is having a hard time growing his beautiful coat back in spots after 6 months. They did know it was their mistake and gave me back money BUT that is just not enough for what they put me and my babies through!! I called them recently to see if they can at least give me a discounted price on fish oil supplements for max's coat and the answer was NO. Told me to call corporate or legal if I want to do that. Then wouldn't give me phone number - Jason, manager, said "look it up on line". Hopefully max's coat will grow back but I am hoping this post saves others when you thought your pet was just going in for a grooming and trim! read more

We had a bad experience trying to get our 6/mo old rescue puppy groomed here a couple weeks ago. We left extensive notes on the intake form about our pup who is extremely traumatized and shy around humans-needing people to go very slow. The groomer obviously did not read the intake at all or disregarded it, and came quickly at him to put his collar on. He snapped the first time, and instead of going slower, or trying a different approach w treats they just said something like "no none of that" and continued to try to push the collar on. The puppy snapped again and the groomer said they wouldn't be able to take him because "he was biting and a liability, maybe he could come back another day" even though he obviously had not bit, just snapped to give a warning that they were moving at too fast of a pace! Writing this so anyone else with rescues or shy dogs knows to take grooming elsewhere- we had a much more positive experience. Part of grooming is reading the intake on the dog you're working with as well as accommodating their needs OR telling the owners that you are incapable/not willing to work with dogs like that. read more

Loyal customer of this store who will now NEVER return. After being upsold VERY aggressively and deceptively, I didn't even get an apology when I tried to return it the flea collar I never wanted. I was told I was buying flea drops, the employee didn't let me hold it, see it, and was talking so fast and at such lengths I ended up throwing away $80 to just get out of there (I was so trusting). Of course if I had spent that money on longer acting flea drop medication I would have been thrilled. Instead I got a collar I can't use and can't return. And really that isn't that bad. But the way she and the manager treated me (rude and at the same time really defensive but in an oddly aggressive way) makes me think there is something odd going on at this store. It also now means we now drive to Burien to petsmart. So far, everyone at petsmart is super honest and up front. read more

This Petco is pretty accessible via the King County Metro bus line and the Rapid Ride line - there is a bus stop literally right in front of the store, as well as the Rapid Ride stop a few blocks down. You really need the Pals Rewards card to make it even remotely worth coming here for pet supplies. There is also something kind of strange about the prices in comparison to the online prices. I think the prices in the store are more expensive and sometimes going to the local pet stores might be a better deal. But I go here whenever I have rewards vouchers or 10%+ coupons to make the prices seem more reasonable. Their lineup is interesting because they carry what is generally known as "junk" brands (iams, Friskies, etc.) and the all natural and/or no grain brands that you can find in local pet stores (Wellness, Blue Mountain, etc.) I feed my cat Soulistic food, which is the Petco-brand for Weruva brands (same company, just different labeling). read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I had an appointment for nail clipping for my 12 lbs, 14yrs old dog. I was asked for proof of rabies vaccination which I showed to the groomer, however she didn't like the format in which I presented the proof of vaccination although it was clear it was my dog's proof of vaccination, the employee told me it was not their policy to accept that proof of vaccination, I asked her to show me the company policy that stated that, and she didn't show me anything, but denied me the service. Never get your dog groomed here. Understandably, due to covid it can take up to 3 months to schedule a dog grooming appointment here. What is not acceptable is after waiting months for a scheduled grooming appointment for it to be cancelled AFTER you show up at the scheduled time due to the groomer calling out. This has happened MULTIPLE times at this location. Seriously, save yourself 3 months of waiting for an appointment that will be cancelled the day of and at the appointed time. I've had excellent experiences with the staff at WS Petco. Everyone has been kind and friendly. Jean is our dog trainer and is very knowledgeable, good hearted and supportive. Jazmin has improved greatly. Brandon is an excellent groomer. He is conscientious, patient and caring. "Jazzy" is very excited when she sees him. That is a good sign! She comes out with a darling puppy cut, well groomed and smelling wonderfully. read more

This time they canceled our appointment (which had been rescheduled 4 times!) just before my husband walked in with our now matted dog. Went to Petco in West Seattle an early morning, few customers in the shop. Andrea helped buying a fresh water tank of 50 gal and all accessories. She was very helpful and knowledgeable of aquatics with 25+ years of pet store experience. During second trip with more customers in the store, there seems to be too few sales people that are knowledgable and that actually can assist you in time. Suggest to visit off peak hours if you can. Fresh water fish assortment and quality is good for start up tanks, but not great if you are looking for high quality fish. read more

This Petco doesn't even deserve 1 star. The customer service here is absolutely awful. Employees don't greet or pay attention to who walks in the store . I walked in with a can of baby formula in my hand from a previous store I went to and the cashier was bent over on her phone at the register. When I went to leave the store she stopped me and wanted to see what was in my hand but quickly realized it was formula. This is only 1 of many issues I have had at this store with incredibly RUDE employees . I will not shop here ever again! read more

I bought some items here the other day and the cashier had trouble with the card reader and asked me to insert it a 2nd time. Today I noticed that they charged me twice for the order, so I went in to get a refund. I showed the woman my visa card statement online. She proceed to hassle me about it for the next 5-10 minutes, questioning me and asking for other receipts. I had no idea what she was talking about - I had just the one receipt. She acted like I did something wrong instead of them. No apology, just attitude you could cut with a knife. Really horrible. I will never shop there again. Their selection is terrible anyway, and their stuff can be more expensive than the local independent shops, whom by the way offer excellent service and no attitude returns. Customer service...as numerous other reviews stated here already, clerks who think they're Knowledgeable but are not. Power trips, aggressive. Seems to be a common report here about this store. Even if they are could stop to find out what a customer level of training is before they try to humiliate in front of your neighbors. She said she had 2 years training, I've had 40. I should have known. Had problems with staff there before. Last year went to get training collar my professional dog trainer said to get. "Knowledgeable" clerk didn't want to sell me because she didn't think I knw enough. She didn't use them therefore no one should (and you sell them why?) A store with a pile of 5 or 10 dead fish in tank shouldn't try to judge if I will take care of a goldfish. Ps: have to go see bank to make sure they didn't complete charges. read more
