My son gave me a Samoyed dog a year ago when he moved out. In the past he took the dog (Nova) to the groomer every now and then somewhere in Puyallup. Well now Nova is my responsibility. I was not going to bring her to Puyallup from Burien so I looked for another groomer. I went to Pet Smart in Burien. They schedule Nova for the following Friday (today 3/27/2026) at 2:30. They knew the type of dog because they asked the questions. They quoted $90 - $120. Got home, called the son asked him what he had paid in the past, he said about $200. Today I arrive at Pet Smart at 2:25. They take one look at Nova and say this will take about 5 hours, we don't have enough time cause they over booked and they are closing today at 6:00, because they are having their floors redone. Sounds like bullshit. If your quote was low just say so I would have gladly paid more. It is a lot of work and I am willing to pay or you could have got it started and schedule another day to finish the job. So since they did not call to tell me they overbooked (bullshit) and they proved to be unreliable I went to The Wash Dog in White Center. I had the Nova with me and they booked me for this coming Tuesday and are charging $275 + the tip that I will give. These employees at The Wash Dog actually seemed to care more, but I guess when you are a small business you probably try to provide better customer service then a big box store. I highly recommend you pass on Pet Smart and try The Wash Dog in White Center. I will let you all know how it went and post a picture of The Wash Dog results, next week. read more

This review is for the grooming salon. We have had nothing but EXCELLENT grooming experiences at this PetSmart Salon. We always use Michelle and she is INCREDIBLE with our two Long Hair Chihuahuas and has excellent grooming skills. She is always attentive to our needs and listens to us in knowing what kind of cuts we want for our dogs. They always come out smelling good and looking great! Five stars for Michelle! The staff there is always friendly and kind and getting an appointment is not too hard. The customer service has been excellent. In the summer time, there can be longer wait times. We have never had any problems, and I highly recommend the Burien Petsmart for grooming, and get Michelle if you can! read more

My dog Chile and I love PetSmart in Burien. It's because of their grooming shop which has always done a great job with him. Chile has a favorite groomer. Her name is Nikki and she is an absolute pro. Chile's jaw is wonky and she takes that into account every time I take him in to see her. Nikki asks me about it before I bring it up. She must take great notes. Come to PetSmart in Burien. Try to score a grooming session with Nikki. If you can't book her, we've had great experiences with other groomers too. Also, be sure to tip your groomer! I've always had a great experience at this Petsmart, used to go here when I worked in the area and they'd always help me with whatever I needed. Went back in today because they had some great online deals so I did a pick up order. I always run around the store to check out new or clearance items and found some great pieces of wood and a really nice tank! The cashier and manager were super helpful, even brought me a cart to the back and offered to help me bring it to my car. Also chatted about reptiles for a while and they seem super knowledgeable. Their crickets were also in amazing condition and weren't stinky like most pet stores I've been to. While this one's a little out of my way I think I'll be shopping at this location more often :) read more

I take both my dogs here and they always come back looking picture perfect! My dogs don't always behave well and they have really worked with us on strategies for a successful visit. This was my second visit the the PetSmart groomer. The first visit a month ago was fine. No issues. Today was different, for some reason. I brought my 2 dogs in for grooming today. After they had washed one of the dogs, I received a phone call telling me to pick her up because she was anxious and stressed in the kennel. Asking if they could at least dry the dog they said no. In the time it took me to drive over there to pick up the dog, they could have at least dried her. Instead, I was given a wet shedding dog. I don't want my dog to be stressed, of course. But what I don't understand is why they didn't finish the grooming when they saw she was stressed in the kennel. Instead, I was given excuses for why they couldn't continue. The same excuse over and over: "If a dog is stressed, they have to be picked up." That was all they would say. No other explanation. When I arrived I was given the same excuse and I said "I don't want excuses, just give me my dog." I was given the dog and I waited outside until my other dog was finished. When I picked up my second dog I was told that I could not bring my dogs there anymore. I said "Yeah, no shit." Then the groomer said "Have a blessed day!" That just pissed me off even more. If a customer is obviously upset about not receiving a service as planned, the last thing you should do is push their buttons and exacerbate the problem. The reason for the dog's stress and the reason for not continuing the work was not communicated clearly...or at all. I will not be going back there. Yes, it is cheap, but we get what we pay for: a large corporate entity with inflexible rules and staff who aren't trained in talking to humans. At least they didn't charge me for the service. Think twice before taking your pet to grooming their policies are unclear if you don't have a perfect dog, they will ban you from their facilities. They don't have proper equipment to take care of elderly pets. very disappointed. I've been a customer for over 15 years and they tell me now I'm very very, very disappointed their groomers seem to need more training if they can keep one. read more

Have had some wonderful grooming with my 4 dogs over the yrs but this weekend's experience with one rude groomer who didn't want to comb out or shave my very slightly matted dog was the last straw. I told her if it's too matted then shave. She called me 1 hr later rudely stating I must come immediately and pick up my dog. I was on the Eastside and pointed out my dog can't stay this way o needs to be shaved down. C was either inexperienced or lazy-my dog was left ungroomed for 5 hrs. Ad my other 2 dogs took near 5 hrs to groom!! The grooming manager was unprofessional and rude. On Sunday morning I realized I desperately needed to get my Shih Tzu Marishka groomed, and her regular place was booked up for the next 2 weeks. I hate calling places, and was trying to find something I could book online. PetSmart was the only location I could find that accepts online appointments, most others are just a request for a quote or a call back. I picked the earliest available appointment for Monday and hoped for the best. Due to an unforeseen scheduling SNAFU no groomer was there to greet us, but a very helpful manager got us checked in while on the phone with Michelle the grooming manager who drove into work to save the day. Once she was in she called me to confirm how long to keep Marishka's lashes & ears which is a key detail on a Shih Tzu, and offered us an upgrade for the inconvenience of the morning. I wasn't even that worried about waiting a couple minutes in the morning because it's December and people get sick - that's life, but it was so nice of her to go out of her way to make up for it regardless. I was so happy with the results when I picked her up, and also the speed of which she was groomed. There have been times at her regular groomer she's been there for upwards of 6 hours and it can really stress her out. She looks amazing, and Michelle was so nice I've decided we'll only be going to PetSmart from now on for: the ease of online scheduling, fantastic customer service and the speed of the grooming session. read more

She tried taking him out from his kennel he was so scared he was barking at her instead of making him feel comfortable nd get her trust she denied the service. Saying my puppy bit her & he wasn't cooperating. She couldn't work with him. I told her well your not doing anything besides pulling him. Justin a groomer at Burien Petsmart mutilated my Cavatzu! Where do I begin? I was told that Justin was very experienced with ShihTzu grooming when I brought my dog he seem to be paying attention-when I picked up my dog, he cut her tail, which I told him don't cut the tail. He did not trim her claws at all. He burned her arms and legs with the grooming tool. He burned her skin on her stomach. He cut under her arm is where that thin skin hangs down. He must've use the scissors and just cut it so there was two gaping wounds under her arm. I don't know what he did, but he twisted up the top of her tail so badly I had to shave it and ruined. The whole look at the Dog hotel will never look the same because the Cavatzu look at droops down and I never ever ever get that cut and he cut it off. my dog she is ruined. She will not see a groomer again. I will not trust another groomer again. He destroyed my dog he destroyed me. I'm still dealing with her itching and her biting her tail because that she bunched up the first so badly into knots and mats and I can't even describe what he did so she keeps chewing there, she's just barely healing up now, but her emotional scars will be forever. The service here is impeccable!! It seems like I've been going here more than LA fitness next door... lol.. but anyway, I wanted to talk about the last 2 experiences I had here. Recently our 100 gallon fish tank had a water leak and I (who don't know anything about fishes or the aquatic supplies) had to urgently get here before closing to buy another tank to save the fishes! I don't remember the guy's name but he was stellar. Helped me get everything I needed and understood I wasn't trying to break my bank in the meantime. Only helped me get the needed necessities so thank you for that! Last night I came back and Brandon assisted me in food for a chow chow that I was buying for a friend. Mind you, I only know the standard "pedigree" brand and currently only buying "blue buffalo" for my little puppies lol. Worst grooming experience! My fiancé checked our American Bully in and they were rude! Worst customer service. We normally take our dog to Petco In SouthCenter. We just moved are this dog grooming was closer so I thought to give it a try. Bad idea. I will not recommend PetSmart for anyone to take their pets here. Ok this particular location definitely needs some customer service skills. The grooming area be so passive aggressive about our dogs. And the only reason I shop here is that it's close and they do a good job on the dog's hair cut but this last time we went was just to much drama about bringing our little dogs. And just getting sick of it. I'm gonna have to start taking my dogs somewhere else if this doesn't change. Yes my dog barks when he is here getting haircut but so do most. Like they put on a big front when we come in oh how cute and lil our dogs are then at the end be so passive aggressive about them. It's one or the other. I took my moms dog to get groomed today and they turned us away because he has to wait 48 hours after his rabies shot. I told them it has literally been 48 hours I took him in to get his shot at 1:30 pm to the vet on 7-1 then I made the appointment for 7-3 1:30 pm. Literally 48 hours. So I called corporate and told the lady she said right 48 hours so she called them and they said I said two o'clock 30 minutes difference that is why she turned me away. Which was not true the groomer said they couldn't see him until the Fourth. They are liars not to mention there were 4 other appointments for 1:30pm besides me so obviously they over booked. Having a double-coated pooch, I have been hesitant to have him groomed for summer weather. With much nudging from my boyfriend, I finally decided to do it last year. I asked for a puppy cut, and gave some directions for his tail, ears, and face that I wasn't quite certain about. It took about 5 hours...and he turned out mostly how I wanted. This year, I decided to have him groomed again at Pet Smart, but at a different location. I was greeted by Michelle who carefully listened to what I wanted. She told me it would be around 3 hours and would call me when he was ready to be picked up. To my surprise, she called me in 2 1/2!! When I arrived she brought Rigby right out and he was PERFECT! Exactly what I wanted! He looked so handsome, and he was equally just as happy as I was! When I took him home, my boyfriend couldn't stop saying how great he looked! Michelle, thank you so much! I would like to say that this is a turn around review.. meaning that I did not have a great experience initially I brought in my 8mo old 90lb Great Pyrenees puppy, so not a easy fur situation.. We came at a time when there was only apparently one groomer and a whole lot of bookings I was quoted a time frame 1 to 2 hours for just a bath, I didn't get a call but came back at the end of 2 hours and was told it would be another hour... long story short I left with a wet dog after walking around the store for half hour I work long hours and have to be up at 330am So all of this I can get over but when I was told by an associate that I can buy for extra $ an express service and that a just bath can typically take as much as 4hours.. well okay however I was specifically quoted 1 to 2... And really not the best time to tell someone that they can (or should have..?) spent more for express service.... So now to get to my reason for a well deserved five star rating and why I will be back..!! To support this local location. I received a call a couple of days later from Nikki the grooming salon manager she couldn't have been more professional and nice! We spoke though the scenario she of course apologized.. I completely understand the time frame expectations, and I very much feel that she listened and proactively addressed the situation. I feel welcomed no stress they take care of my puppy (large and fluffy as he may be!;) Cassie the groomer was absolutely excellent! She was quick efficient and thorough in her grooming. I support this grooming salon due to Nikki, Cassie, and others, and feel that they are very well worth another look to try them ..for those of you in the area that may have been dissatisfied in the past they are very proactively making a turn around with new management etc to this location. read more

This grooming department is a disgusting mess. They hire incompetent individuals who are incapable of performing basic elementary job duties. I prepaid almost $800 in grooming salon appointments back on June 22nd at 9:18AM at their 20% off discount that expire in 2027. Now these people can't find all of the prepaid baths that I paid for, even though I have the receipts AND the charges on my credit card. They are unable to honor what I paid for and unable to refund what I paid for so they told me to "call corporate". I'm calling my credit card company and having the charges all removed. Not only has this been a huge issue, they treat the dogs terribly, they say one thing and then do another, they had all 4 of my dogs mixed up in their system, not a clue how to fix the notes that THEY put into the system, and provide horrible customer service, they could care less about you or your pet. They also do not dry your dogs, and being that I have huskies, they've now created hotspots on 3 of them multiple times, no matter how many times I've asked them to please make sure the dogs are dry before I pick them up. I would absolutely NEVER bring my dogs to this disgusting facility again. There are plenty of other options for groomers in the area. And because of this mess that this grooming facility caused, PetSmart as a whole has now lost a very long time loyal customer who has dogs, cats, chickens, and fish. read more

I have gotten my pom groomed a couple of times here with Vine, and she's the best! Pomeranian's aren't the easiest to cut and he has two different coats on him. Strong Arm up-sell. My dog has a well controlled seizure d/o. The cashier offered a rapid groom to decrease stress so as to not evoke a seizure, which we declined. The dog has never had a seizure in +20 life time grooming sessions. I signed up for a grooming at the Burien Petsmart about a month ago and when I went to drop off my dog, I was told the grooming was cancelled because the groomer could not come into work. What really annoyed me was that there was another customer there who clearing had a weekly grooming appointment for her dog and whose appointment was not cancelled, while I had waited for an entire month for availability. It would be much better customer service to have the weekly customer miss one week, instead of cancelling an appointment for a customer who had waited 4 weeks for a grooming appointment. They said they could reschedule for 10 days later, which was the best they could do even though the other customer also had a grooming appointment scheduled for the following week. So the other customer was going to be able to have her dog groomed 6 times between the time I had called for a grooming appointment and when my dog was finally going to be able to be groomed. I asked if at least they could trim my dog's nails, which was desperately needed since I had waited for a month for an appointment to be available and was told they didn't have any time right now because they were short staffed but I could come back later. I was going immediately into work so I couldn't go back. But again, if they were so short staffed why were they available to groom the customer's dog that clearly had just been groomed a week prior. And why was her pristine looking dog that had not even gone 7 days without a haircut more important than doing a 10 minute nail trim so my dog would feel so much better. At that point, I just walked out because clearly my dog and me are of no importance to them and weekly customers are the priority I will never go back. What a dissapointment. They need to get their priorities straight. read more

This was my 2nd grooming Burien Pet Smart visit for my standard poodle. This last visit was with the manager, Michelle. She said appointment would take 3.5 -4 hours since my dog was large. Appt was 11:30 and at 3:00 she called and said they were so busy with walk ins that my dog would be done by 4. I let her know that I was not pleased that the appointment was taking so long. Then she added that 1 of the blowers was down.... I was there at 4 and I waited til she finally finished at 4:30! Being manager, I assumed she should have had better time management and take care of the clients who bother to make appointments!
