Christy is an absolutely fantastic trainer whose insights, knowledge and poise can help you and your dog understand each other, work together, and find bliss. My dog is a high-energy shepherd/lab/pitt mix rescued from the humane society. She was anxious, had trouble on the leash, and had trouble with other dogs, not understanding their signals AT ALL. Then after a bad experience at a kennel, all her problems seemed to go into high gear - she'd start lunging and barking at dogs 100 yards away, for example. Last October, Christy met with us for several hours and did a complete assessment of my dog's behavior, needs, and emotions. Unlike the other trainers we'd seen, Christy went straight at the heart of the problem - that my dog needed more activity, confident leadership, and opportunities to socialize with other dogs. She gave us solid, actionable advice on how to help my dog feel more confident (and how to help ME feel more confident! Turns out, that was the key) as well as a ton of insights on dog psychology that had me going, "OHHHHHHHH." I took a LOT of notes during that meeting! (She also recommended some great books that have really made a difference, too - ask her for recs!)
Since that time, my dog has improved so, so much. Her on-leash skills are a lot better, and the reactivity is now an uncommon occurrence. Her greatest success is that she has gained a ton of communication skills with other dogs at the dog park, and she's communicating more with US now that she knows that we know what she's trying to say. We still hit some snags every once in a while, where I'm just concerned over whether I reacted correctly, or what I should do next time. But that's where Christy continues to shine, as she is available by email and is so so great about responding quickly with just the right combination of key points, insights, and reassurance that - once again - I can immediately USE and see results. Her instagram is also a great resource - I love seeing her stories of her dogs and other dogs she's rehabbed, and they get me thinking of other things I can work with my dog on, or remind me about what I really need to focus on with her (respect and leadership and activity!)
I seriously cannot recommend Christy enough. She knows what she's doing, and she helps YOU know what you're doing, so that you have the confidence to help your dog know what SHE is doing - and as a result, everyone is secure, confident, and HAPPY. Thank you, Christy! read more
