Celeste was especially wonderful, going above and beyond to help my daughter choose her new pet hamster. :) We visited frequently leading up to "adoption day," and every time Celeste took time to chat with us and answer all my daughter's questions. I'm very disappointed with Petco overall. I went to the website clicked to only show me same day delivery, ordered same day delivery to get items for my dog since I recently had surgery and I'm unable to drive. One of my three items (treats) only made sense if delivered with one of the other items (treat dispenser) and that was delivered. The other two items are pending shipment. I only clicked the same day delivery option for all of the items. I called customer service to cancel and was advised they would request a cancellation-I never asked for them to be shipped but I have to request cancellation? I know this seems unhinged but I'm now paying double what I would have paid if I ordered the same items from Amazon. Never again. read more

When my friend has to call me and BEG me to go to her house, get her a spare uniform, and bring it to her because the ASSISTANT MANAGER JOSH won't let her go home and change really quickly after getting COVERED IN GUINEA PIG BLOOD, that just shows me how little they care about their employees. I have bought my hamsters and supplies from petco, I've met the staff here and it has been a great experience, but having employees at work walking around in animal blood is a biohazard and heartless. This location is amazing! About two weeks back Joe took a frantic call from me, my Siberian cat had fleas and I was in tears! Joe calmly explained my options over the phone and eased my panic by promising to be here when I would arrive at 8:40. Sure enough, he was there with the best and not unreasonably priced options. We discussed the best natural options for sprays and what might be best collar or drops etc. Today my house is 95% better due to his helpfulness and the products petco carries! I stopped in again today and lo and behold Joe was there again! He helped me grab some more spray and some toys to keep my Kitty in a better mood! However, my cashier, Katie, asked me what kind of animal would use my choices. She confidently told me that the enclosure I was purchasing was not a good choice. Came in to get some dog food, it was supposed to be an in and out visit. When I went to pay I saw a huge cat condo tower on clearance. It was marked down by 50%. I mentioned how cool it was and my cat would love it but was still a little too expensive. The manager went above and beyond to get me additional discounts which I caved and bought it! He helped me try to load it into my car which did not fit. Hahah I had to go home and get my truck because it was so big, he then walked back out and helped load the cat tower into my truck. I was looking for a particular item that was for $9.99 but accidentally picked up an item for $14.99 instead. when I told Tyler I meant to pick up the $9.99 item he walked back with me and saw that it was not stocked correctly and just sold me the $14.99 item for $9.99 instead! he was really great in understanding the situation and taking responsibility for the mis-stocking instead of making me eat the cost. great staff; I'm very glad I live right by this petco! you know I'll be there all the time. read more

I had the best experience here! I called before coming and a Victor answered the phone. Not only was he extremely helpful over the phone, when we arrived he stayed over his shift until we were completely checked out. He was very knowledgeable and helped carry our supplies to the register. We were then greeted by Hailey at the register! She was also very knowledgeable and smiled the whole check out. The puppy stage 1 training experience here was absolutely ridiculous. Not only did the trainer seem like she didn't want to actually be there other than to rush through tricks and puppy play time, she also dropped by dog at one point and didn't apologize at all... yet the whole room went silent. You pay $100 to be in a small, confined room, in which you have to walk through a filthy corridor with garbage all over it to get there. If you want your dog to actually learn obedience, this is probably not the place to come. Everything you learn here you could easily pick up by watching YouTube video. The only nice thing is that your pup gets a certificate and a gift bag upon completion of the course, which was very thoughtful of Petco - of course, that's included in the price of registering though. read more

Since moving to Richmond, we've loved our experience at this Petco in particular. We've done training with Ron and have kept those good behaviors over the years with our pup, Hope. Also, the staff in the grooming areas are so professional and help in any way to make Hope feel at home (she gets a little nervous when we have to groom her). Our two German Shepherds, Chance and Kyra, love Ashley.....they are generally very clingy and difficult with strangers....she just has a way with her that clicks with them....our third is a terrier/collie mix and we had another groomer at midlothian bath and trim her....the trim was all wrong and a pet parents OMG!!! Moment...I took her to Ashley who as always took care of her as if she were her own pet....Olivia looks adorable every time she comes out now....I'm a protective and pick pet parent....Ashley is awesome!! read more

I LOVE PETCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use to live right near it. I use to ride my bike up there, go to the fish section and bang on the glass until the fish gave me attention. I love loo t king at all the friendly pets there, they're more friendly than the staff, one dog even sniffed my butt. This is the only place that accepts me when I get on all fours barking and pretending I'm a dog, it's who I really am, and no other establishment accepts me for who I am other than this petco store. I really do hope one day EVERYONE can have equal rights, even those of us who have an inner dog side. Absolutely love the carytown location. The staff is super friendly and assist anyway possible. My girl Iris loves going there. Many of them recognize her when we visit, and they give her treats. They also do a great job grooming her, and the groomer even have let me be present/watch to give tips and learn how to do it myself. The store is physically small and I've never been able to find everything on my list here. They are VERY friendly and loving. It is clear it's not just a dog cleaning factory even those it is a chain store. They are so good to my coon hound- he is 4 years old and we are his 4th SPCA owner. We are keeping this angel. It's very important to me to keep any trauma to a minimum- they clearly care very much.
