I was in desperate need of a place to wash my dog for the dog show. They were more than accommodating. They allowed me to come in and wash my dog and here are the results.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING A GROOMING HERE FOR YOUR DOG! We made the mistake of booking a grooming session here without reading the other reviews. This was the only Petco location that had openings 4 days in advance and there's a reason for that. The customer service was almost nonexistent here and the groomers were not friendly at all. We knew upon talking to her that the grooming would be subpar and we were right. We would've left, but gave her the benefit of the doubt. Upon receiving our dog, he was patchy, his tail was trimmed unevenly, and his paw pad were not trimmed at all. It was the most careless groomings we've ever had. The groomers seemed like they didn't want to be there and it truly showed with our dog.

    Blood stain.

First time here, last time here. Avoid grooming and Spa at all costs! Took our dog here for a nail trim and express glands removal (expression). To start off, turnaround time was no longer than 10 minutes (talk about attention to detail). Anyhow, so we arrive to what appeared to be a shift change of some sort. Mr. Justin plops himself down in his desk chair as we are some type of inconvenience. Knowing us, we should've left at this point. No "hi, hello, how are you doing, nice dog, cute dog, etc., simple attentiveness were a none). We request such services and hand over our dog with a disconcerting look on each other's faces and depart for payment. No longer than 10 minutes later, Justin arrives and hands us our dog and states that we should probably see a veterinarian for further gland removal and walks away. Note, his nails were trimmed with the utmost lack of attention and care. To add to it, we then also noticed blood on our shirt. We return to the Spa where all three employees were just what appeared to be hanging out, and we appeared to be an inconvenience. We voice our concerns regarding his nails and the female employee looks at the other with a "whatever" look and says, "well maybe his nails grow that way"...wait what? Excuse me? We've had the dog for 8 years. You're kidding me right? Justin then says he'll re-attend to him (why? It should've been done right the first time) and then makes a forward advancement towards us...we leave. Upon leaving we ask the cashier (who was new, very attentive and caring I must add...kudos to her) to speak to a Manager. An Assistant Manager or "other" personnel comes out, listens to our concerns and says, let me call the Manager; at this point we leave. Whoever reads this, this pandemic is no excuse for the lack of care and service (as it was noted by yelp to please take this in to consideration when placing a review). If these employees (minus the cashier - the one Star is for her) give two sh*ts about the service they chose to provide and are just collecting a check and/or just going through the motions; then that just adds on to today's and the future of today's society. It's sad. Oh and yes, to anyone that wants to be a smart ass - know it all; as this whole new generation has become; yes, we should've left. That's our fault right? SMH

We rescued our Josie last year and this was the first place we went to to get supplies. The staff was SUPER friendly and was willing to answer any first-time owner questions with a smile and empathy. We took our Josie to another Petco for grooming because this place was booked. Comparing that Petco to this one is night and day. This Petco might be understaffed but whoever is there are friendly and always willing to help and answer questions. We took Josie for grooming this weekend because we're not happy with our regular groomer. Josie just gets a bath since she has short hair. Mari took care of Josie and she was so sweet! Just like every other employee at this spot, she was so friendly and willing to explain. Josie came home smelling like Christmas cookies and had a great time.

Cats. Don't get me started. Oops, too late. So I haven't been in this Petco location for at least several years, until today. I used to visit frequently when I was donating to a cat rescue that held adoptions here. As a result of all that rescuing, I ended up with a cat. Or, more accurately, the cat chose me. Originally he would eat just about anything. Over the years he became picky. So picky in fact, that now he will eat only one brand of wet food. And more recently, only one flavor of that brand. Wait, it gets worse. Apparently the manufacturer of that flavor of that brand must have changed the formula, because now he won't eat the stuff with the latest July 2020 expiration date. He will only eat the April 2020 expiration date. It's true, the new stuff even looks different - proof that Mr. Picky is not simply playing me. So I am driving all over creation, to every Petco & Pet Food Express, buying up whatever is left on shelves with the April date. It's ridiculous. Today, here, I was able to score several packets with the April date. When the April food runs out, Cat will undoubtedly go on a hunger strike. So I am buying myself some time until I can figure out what to do next. The friendly employee on duty listened to my dilemma & understood cat pickiness. Meaning he knew I was not completely crazy. Yet. As far as this Petco, except that they now offer more "healthy" pet foods, it hasn't really changed over the years. Only my cat has changed. My next stop will be the San Pedro Petco. As I drive around in the cold, what is the cat doing? Why, he's sleeping on the couch burrowed into a warm comforter, until dinner time. Being a cat guardian is not for the faint of heart. Because cats rule, in more ways than one. The good news is that I have only one cat. But obviously I love him.

Like any parent and dog owner, we were heartbroken and overwhelmed, not knowing how to move forward safely. After reading so many incredible reviews about Brian across different forums, we decided to reach out--and I'm so grateful we did. Brian helped us understand Hudson (our dog) on a completely different level. He took the time to explain the fears and anxiety driving Hudson's behavior and gave us practical tools to help him feel more secure and confident. Instead of just addressing the behavior itself, Brian helped us see what Hudson was experiencing and how to support him in a way that actually works. Over time, we've seen such meaningful progress. Most importantly, I now feel so much more comfortable and confident with my daughter interacting with Hudson. That peace of mind is something I truly can't put into words. If you're dealing with a challenging or scary situation with your dog, I can't recommend Brian highly enough. His knowledge, patience, and ability to help both dogs and owners understand each other is truly remarkable. We're incredibly grateful we found him.

He is deeply knowledgeable, his approach is thoughtful, and he truly speaks dog. Brian has worked with an incredible range of dogs and behavior challenges, and it shows. No matter the question or concern, he always had clear, grounded guidance that made sense and actually helped. Brian came highly recommended by our trusted vet, and finding him changed everything for our family. When our Miko turned 8 months old last summer, she suddenly began attacking her brother Rufus with no provocation (no food, toys, or attention) and developed territorial behaviors at home. Up until that point, they were best friends, with Rufus patiently playing with her and teaching her dog manners. It was terrifying and heartbreaking, and at our lowest point, we even had to confront the possibility of re-homing Miko after losing our other dog, Luna, suddenly during her spay surgery last year. Since then, my husband and I have been training and exercising them religiously, spending 3-5 hours a day between the two of us, and Brian was there every step of the way. He was endlessly encouraging and validating, especially on the hard days, helping us stay grounded and hopeful when things felt overwhelming. What truly sets Brian apart is how much he genuinely cares and his extensive experience with dog training. He has always been incredibly generous with his time, offering phone consultations during training and even long after sessions ended. You never feel rushed, judged, or dismissed, just fully supported. We're beyond grateful to say that Miko has now reached 6 months with zero aggression, and the two of my dogs play together again both inside and outside of our home. If you're struggling, losing hope, or just want someone who truly understands dogs in your corner, Brian is the real deal.

They built a structured routine for our puppy which set the perfect foundation for good habits and positive behavior. Our puppy learned many things from commands such as sit, stay, proper walking, come here, lay down, place, house. I think the most important thing built though was the potty training and the socialization provided. Puppies NEED early socialization to develop into confident and friendly dogs. We have happy to see our puppy grow (and still growing) into a friendly, brave "teenager" puppy. Friendly play style! A Doberman is a high energy and demanding dog breed. Normally I would train our puppy fully on my own as I did with prior Dobermans I had in the past, but due to demanding work hours and obligations, I am so grateful for the opportunity The Puppy Academy provided during these critical socialization and learning periods. They train and interact with the puppy all day until I pick him up after work. Then I can continue with following their training methods throughout our time at home and on the weekends. It made it so easy! I wish I had the Puppy Academy all along for my prior dogs too. I'm impressed with the friendly staff and how well they did with our puppy! Even though our puppy has completed the program and graduated, we have still seen ease with the teenager/adolescent phase and training on our own again because of all the Puppy Academy set up for us. During that visit, Justine explained the Gold Lifetime program ($1,895) and said she would come to my home about every 2-3 weeks for continued training. Based on that explanation, I decided to purchase the program. However, the first session under the program lasted only about 30 minutes. When I asked about the next visit, Justine said future sessions would be done through FaceTime instead of in-home training. During the initial lesson, I clearly explained that Happy does not pull on the leash. Despite this, Justine brought a metal collar designed to prevent pulling and tried to put it on Happy, which was confusing and disappointing. I also explained that because Happy is a small dog, I wanted to learn proper heel training so he could walk safely beside me. Instead, Justine said it was fine for him to walk behind me. I do not feel this is safe for a small dog, as he could easily pick something up from the ground or encounter larger dogs from behind. As a result, I paid $1,895 but received only one 30-minute in-person session. My request for a partial refund or reassignment to another trainer was denied. I am sharing this experience so that other customers can fully understand the training approach and contract terms before committing. Clarification: The three-hour visit mentioned by the trainer, Justine, refers to the separate $300 initial lesson, which I paid for in advance and which actually lasted about 2.5 hours. The first session under the $1,895 Gold Lifetime program lasted about 30 minutes. Update: The owner responded claiming I "refused to book lessons." Attached are text screenshots proving the opposite. When I requested in-person visits every 2 weeks, the trainer replied: "I don't work that way" and offered only FaceTime instead. I did not refuse -- the trainer refused to provide the service I paid for.

Beans started the program at just 4 months old as an Australian cattle mix with *insane* amounts of energy, nipping behavior, and some early signs of separation anxiety, so we knew we needed the right structure and guidance early on. We enrolled him in their 12-week program with the goal of getting him flight-ready, and the transformation has been amazing. Within just a few weeks, Beans had locked in all of his core commands, and he was crate trained within the first week. They also helped us work through his separation anxiety, which has made such a difference in his confidence and our day-to-day life. The structure and consistency of the program made an immediate and lasting impact. What really stood out, though, is how thoughtful and personalized their approach is. They didn't just train Beans -- they trained *us* in a way that fits seamlessly into our lifestyle and how we want to enjoy life with our dog. They truly understood his herding instincts and gave him the right outlets and structure to meet those needs. On top of that, he learned all the right social cues and now plays incredibly well with other dogs. The biggest highlight? People constantly tell us they've never seen such a high-energy puppy be so obedient. That's a direct reflection of the foundation LoveUrK9 built with him. We're so grateful to the team for setting Beans up to truly thrive -- to be the funny, goofy, smart, and driven dog he naturally is, while also giving him the structure he needs to be such a good boy. Couldn't recommend them more. Thank you Toya, Kevin & Blake!

Let me tell you guys something Love Ur k9 is literally the best dog school in South Bay Los Angeles. Before this, I tried one school that's a franchise chain where they don't allow you to say "no" to correct bad behaviors which does not work. I also went to a behaviorist who was very good but some unrealistic expectations for dog human coexistence. I was desperate as my new puppy was biting us to the point of bleeding and does not listen or walk well. Love Ur K9 the only one that is practical and yields massive positive results. This is the school where you send your dog to the school like a kindergarten and then you pick up your dog at the end of the day and the master trainers will review with you the training that they've done so that you have homework to do at home and train your dog continuously. Everyone here from the owners who are Toya & Kevin to all the employees such as Blake are so competent. Kev is a certified AKC evaluator. They are loving friendly and dog living. In my opinion, loving your dog does not mean letting them do whatever they want, which is like spoiling your kid, and then it will cause him to get into trouble. From this school, my dog has learned to respect humans. Listen to commands sit and walk properly go to place and play well with other dogs. Some nice to haves: Toya Leo provide an in-house class where she will evaluate the situation at home. Under her guidance, we transformed our living space from one that is only catering to our dog and giving her way too much space to one that is more balanced where she has her own room and space and we got our living room back. Toya also hosts free park classes for current informer clients. I believe the quality of a school is reflected in how well-behaved the dogs are in the group classes. This is the only one where every dog is for the most part, attentive and following commands so all the dog parents and dog friends your dog will meet are gonna be top-notch. Also, there's a very cute graduation ceremony and a free training leash Lastly, the training facility shares the same space as our favorite dog daycare center called Down Dog Lodge.

We worked with Tim to help with our dog, Rocko, and it was truly life changing for our family…read more We have a young toddler, and Rocko was resource guarding me, which was causing aggression toward her. It was scary and stressful. Tim helped us realize that training is not just about the dog. It is about teaching the owners how to create healthy boundaries, provide structure, and respond appropriately to each situation. That perspective alone made a huge difference. Since implementing what Tim taught us, Rocko is calmer, more respectful of boundaries, and much better around our toddler. We now feel far more confident and comfortable with the two of them being around each other. Tim did not just help train our dog. He helped us become better and more confident dog parents. We are incredibly grateful and highly recommend him to anyone dealing with behavioral issues or wanting a healthier relationship with their dog.

Tim is an exceptional dog trainer and an absolute natural with animals! He genuinely 'gets' dogs…read more Bean had trouble with leash-pulling and at times, large dog/squirrel reactivity. It was also difficult for us to get his attention with commands during walks initially. From the very first session, it was clear how patient, intuitive, and skilled Tim is. My dog Bean is 6 years old, and Tim showed us that age is absolutely not a barrier. Just as importantly, Tim taught me how to be a better handler. He broke everything down in a way that was easy to understand, empowering, and encouraging, and gave me real, practical tools to help Bean become a better listener and walker. With continued exposure, Bean has made tremendous progress, far beyond what I expected at this stage, and it's all thanks to Tim's guidance and expertise. Tim's calm energy, deep understanding of dog behavior, and genuine love for animals make him truly stand out. Bean is happier, more confident, and better behaved, and I feel so much more confident as a dog owner. Thank you Tim!!
