    Dead beta fish at Petco Oceanside

    Petco in general is not bad but this place, Horrible manager and associate that work there seem to care a lot about some fish and not others. Dead beta fish and other fish sitting at bottom of cups and tanks definitely would not buy my fish here.

    I worked with Lisa on training my goldendoodle. She was very professional and so helpful. You can see she loves dogs and wants to teach the owners how to keep their dogs in line with the right signals and words for the dog. I highly recommend training at the Petco and especially Lisa.

    Thank you Christina!  You turned a ruff morning into an pawesome afternoon!  My mom said we've found a new groomer!

    Cannot say enough about Christina, in the grooming salon. After an exhausting morning, at another PETCO location, Christina saved the day!! The groomer at that site, did not show up for our appointment!! I called Oceanside PETCO and thankfully, Christina was able to squeeze us in. She went above and beyond to satisfy us and was extremely patient and kind to my little sweetie. We just found our new groomer....

    On Thursday 8/04/22 I went to the Petco store in Oceanside on Long Beach rd . I was in there for about two hours trying to get my two dogs new collars, leashes & some other accessories. I received very little help from staff. They appeared very disinterested, I mean if your on the floor & I keep coming to you 3, 4, 5, 6 times for assistance. It is your job to recognize that hey this customer needs help with our products let me support them. So I left the store frustrated & empty handed. On Friday 08/05/22 I went to the Petco store in Baldwin on SunriseRise high way. I was in there approximately 3 minutes looking for two dog collar leashes & some other accessories. A store representative name Alfred came right where I was and assist me in not only selecting what I needed but made sure I was satisfied. He measured the collars on my two dogs, picked out matching leashes. Then we went over and he explained to me the different varieties of dog treats. Alfred was so polite and informative. While on the check out line I saw Alfred giving that same attention he gave to me to several other customer on the floor. I spend over $200.00 in that store. Alfred should be the poster child of how a employee engages with guest that come into a establishment. He also should get a raise for his exemplary work & no I don't know him, I just met the guy in the store that day. Alfred you rock!!!

    They discriminate against handicapped pets. My dog had an appointment for a dog grooming service. When we arrived, we were told he could not be groomed due to his birth defect which his knee is out of place causing a slight limp in his right back leg. He is not in pain, he runs, he walks, he stands on his back legs without issue. He is a happy, playful dog with an awesome temperament. Even though he was groomed at this location previously having the same handicap, Erika would not groom him. We told them he has no problems being groomed and we would sign a waiver if needed. Just in case they thought we would say they caused his defect. I was completely disgusted and hurt for my little 4.25 pound Yorkie. There are too many caring, kind, and understanding groomers to send my pet to a place that discriminates against handicapped dogs. They are supposed to be the place where all pets go, not just pets they deem worthy. I can only imagine the treatment for those pets who have a missing limb or a little wheelchair. Horrible!

    My cat-house from Petco was left in the rain, not EVEN in a bag. I understand that it is an outside company, in this case Door-Dash, making deliveries. However, I did call the store and spoke to the manager. He stated that he was going to give DoorDash a call but still no call back from either of them.

    The the entrance is in the back off the parking lot.

    All animals have diseases please avoid. I have seen a lot of pet stores in my life sell sick and neglected animals and I'm still in shock.

    This petco did such a great job grooming my dog. The employees were very friendly and his haircut looks adorable, definitely will be back!

Cookie was loving but she had a TERRIBLE nipping problem (along with other issues). She had gone through 2 trainers already and nothing was working. With a 7 year old child in the house, Cookie spent most of her time in her crate. I just could not risk my daughter accidentally getting hurt. Cookie went with Danny for 4 weeks and she came back a whole new dog. Before Danny, cookie was never allowed to roam the house. I am forever grateful for Danny's patience. He would send me updates, pictures and videos on Cookies progress. He even followed up with another lesson to show my dad how to properly handle Cookie at home. Thank you Danny! You saved Cookie.

When he left, he was biting the furniture, not listening at all to commands and having accidents all over the house. He came home so well behaved, but still with the same cuddly loving personality. Danny and his wife were very kind and patient and treated Charlie like part of their family!

    I did it.. I got a Covid Puppy!!! Who's life got turned upside down when we had to go back to work…read more I'm not sure who had more separation anxiety me or him. Beach Buds is amazing! I drop off My Sergeant (5 month old rescue puppy) before work. I get to check in on him all day via the live cam. I watch him playing with his friends & seeing that the employees really enjoy the dogs. Watching to make sure everyone is happy. When I see my puppy playing with confidence & socializing with all dogs big and small. I feel so proud. He is happy & well exercised. My nights after doggie daycare are more calm & I get to really enjoy my great puppy who has just had the best day!!!! PS They even have drop off service. It rocks !!!!

Coming in here, she definitely wasn't the easiest one to work with....and still isn't. She won't typically go potty inside because she's afraid of getting in trouble but is also picky about where she goes potty outside. She also loves to sit in the window and watch for when I come to get her, but of course then she doesn't gain much from the daycare experience. My dog is just plain NEEDY. In the beginning, she didn't seem to engage too much with the other dogs, maybe only briefly. But now that she's had about 15 days total there, she's got her friends. From my point of view, it took her 10 days of going before she learned to love it, she's always a hard sell when it doesn't involve mommy. Now she runs to the door to go inside, no second thoughts about going in. I know she clearly really loves the owner, Derek, which isn't a very easy thing for her to do. Most of the other workers are caring and friendly, I've seen some that pull a little too much on her collar, but it's a bit more rare. I love the options of 7-7, so if I have longer work days I won't feel guilty if she is there maybe 10 hours or more. Drop off and pick up are pretty easy, parking can be difficult in the evening of course. While, yes, they do not have a large space nor a large yard, I know my girl gets a lot from doggy day care. She comes home absolutely pooped from her day, she's better about going potty at the daycare (sometimes she still holds it), and she continues to have positive interactions with dogs of all sizes. I think it's important that small and large dogs spend time together so they can learn the dynamics of greeting, playing, or just being present together under supervised care. The website for booking is easy to use and you get an email reminder on the day you have a reservation. Aside from the cameras where you can stare at your dog for all too long, you can also follow their Instagram or facebook for some sweet shots of your pups while you're at work. Maybe one day they could end up with a larger location, but overall, I think there's a lot for a pup to gain here...as well as the owner. Nothing like having a free evening not having to walk your pup!

This behavior increased and we began having expensive vet visits and, finally, were considering rehoming her. I had had Saint Bernards since 1979, often multiples and have rescued hundreds of them for rehoming but I have zero training skills with this type of behavior. A friend from my vet's office highly recommended Harold for his work with her Great Dane, so I gave him a call. He recommended a 2 week stay with him. Now, let me tell you, I was 100% AGAINST doing off premises board and train and I made my feelings clear to Harold, who remained very polite and explained to me the whats and whys to this type of training. I was still skeptical, but felt I had no other choice, so I let him take her. I was so worried. Three weeks later, she came home and when the other dogs in house immediately started barking at her as she entered the house (the were behind a barrier), something miraculous happened....Blossom totally ignored them and continued walking next to Harold and went to the room we designated for her to decompress with her crate until she could readjust to our home. She knew her commands VERY well and was very quiet, but still as lovable, and when she was walked on lead, she was perfect!! We continued with Harold's classes and she continued to listen beautifully to both my husband (who is her favorite person) and me. Watching the other dogs in the class was just amazing. EVERY SINGLE dog did everything you see in his videos. Sure, there were a couple of renegades who did not obey 100% of the time, but there were in training and learning new skills. Harold's entire staff is really fantastic. They are friendly, professional and very committed to the success of you and your dog. Thank you, Harold, for give so many wonderful skills to both Blossom and my husband. He needed training as much as Blossom and you taught him to have both fun and responsibility with and for her. His interactions with our other dogs have vastly improved as well. Has is truly talented and has a very special gift with dogs and very organized process.     I'm writing this as someone who was close to the situation and saw the aftermath of this training…read moreexperience. My best friend's Cane Corso was sent to Harold for a 3-week program. Before that, he was a well-behaved, extremely loved, super friendly, and social dog. When he came back, he was underweight, scratched up, and had developed behavioral issues that weren't there before. He was not the same boy that we entrusted Harold with. We later learned he had been given anxiety medication during training, without a proper veterinary evaluation. Not long after, he had two bite incidents, which made rehoming impossible. Less than two weeks after returning home, he had to be put down. This situation caused a lot of pain. We all miss our sweet baby boy. I strongly recommend asking very specific questions about training methods and medical decisions before working with any trainer.

    What a terrible grooming experience! If I could give zero stars, I would! I had an appointment…read morescheduled for about a week and received a call the day before the scheduled appointment saying that the groomer my dog was scheduled with, which I selected any groomer as this is not my regular grooming location, had called out and they could not accommodate the grooming appointment. They asked if I can reschedule for another day that weekend after which I said I could not as we were traveling and needed her groomed before we left. They then rescheduled her for the day after her originally scheduled appointment. The day of the grooming was a nightmare. She had a 3pm appointment. We called to see if we could drop her off a little before the appointment because we had to be somewhere else at the same time and was told yes. My husband got there 20 mins before the appointment and waiting for 20 mins for the groomer to come to the front. The groomer never arrived and he had to leave. He went back shortly after 3pm as was greeted with a long line. After waiting in line for over 10 mins, he finally made it to the front and was scolded for being late. My husband told them he was waiting in line and was told that they would check the camera, which I thought was extremely rude. I received a phone call from one of the groomers 15 or so mins later saying he had taken over the grooming appointment, not the one my husband spoke with at drop off, and wanted to go over the hair cut. We asked for a long cut and he said she was a little matted and would need to cut it a little shorter than a long cut. We said it was ok because we've experience this before with her normal groomer, a different Petco location, and figured she has a lot of hair and it wouldn't be too short. We were also informed the appointment would take 3-4 hours. By 7pm we still hadn't heard from anyone. We thought to give them time as they seemed really busy that day and our regular groomer usually calls if they were running behind. We called 7:45pm only to be told that our dog had been ready, they were closing at 8pm, and that I had been called several time. I received not one call since speaking with the groomer around 3pm. My husband goes to pick up our dog and she was completely shaved! I was furious when he came home. This was completely unacceptable and unnecessary. We will NEVER return here for grooming! Thankfully it's just hair that will grow back but it's still cold out and for my dog to be practically bald is devastating, especially since she is meeting family for the first time.
