It's not the small price increase as we can understand that, it's that they no longer provide de-mating service in case it's needed. So it's now become a wash, trim, and bandana for more money and less work. After using them for a year and being very pleased, we might as well go to a standard wash, trim, nails place for 1/3 of their charges. Sorry that we had to part company in this matter but now for $120-130 every two months vs $45 there is too much of a disparity in fees. I see that the owner states that we cancelled twice .... That's different and a new tactic since you set the schedules and cancelled on us. You didn't set our next appointment during the last visit and that was months ago! We no longer will be using your services and don't appreciate the changing story. 1 STAR -- MY HUSKY WAS INJURED, CUT, BLEEDING, AND REQUIRED VETERINARY TREATMENT AFTER THIS…read moreGROOMING APPOINTMENT I have waited to write this review because I wanted to give PetSmart corporate an opportunity to properly address what happened to my Siberian Husky at the PetSmart Green Acres/Valley Stream location. It has now been approximately a month, her coat still has NOT grown back properly, and I am still waiting for corporate to provide an appropriate resolution. This was not simply a bad haircut or a grooming service I was unhappy with. My dog was physically injured during this grooming appointment. She had cuts around her vulva/genital area and her butt/rectal area, and these areas were BLEEDING. I had to take her to my veterinary job afterward so she could be evaluated and treated. That alone should demonstrate how serious this situation was. My dog's groomer was Jules, and the store manager I dealt with afterward was Karina. I WAS RUSHED THROUGH THE PAPERWORK When I arrived for the appointment, I was NOT given an appropriate amount of time to actually sit there and carefully read through the grooming paperwork/contract before signing it. Jules told me that they were busy, and I felt rushed through the process. When someone is leaving their animal in another person's care, especially when signing paperwork authorizing services, they should be given adequate time to understand exactly what they are agreeing to. THE PRICE WENT FROM APPROXIMATELY $151 TO $246 I had selected a grooming package that was approximately $151. After discussing the service, I was charged approximately $246. Jules mentioned a "shave down" in person and said there would be an increased price, but I was NOT adequately informed of the extent to which my Husky was actually going to be shaved. There is an enormous difference between hearing the words "shave down" and understanding that your double-coated Siberian Husky is going to come back shaved to the extent that mine was. Had the actual extent of what they intended to do been clearly explained to me, I would never have knowingly agreed to this. MY DOUBLE-COATED HUSKY WAS SHAVED EXTREMELY SHORT When I received my dog back, I was horrified. This is a Siberian Husky with a double coat, and her coat had been shaved down dramatically. I work in the veterinary field, so I am familiar with animals being shaved for medical purposes and with different levels of shave downs. I specifically tried to explain why I was concerned about what had been done to my dog's coat. Instead of acknowledging my concern, I felt completely dismissed. When I discussed this with store manager Karina, I explained my veterinary experience and what we consider a medical shave down. Karina responded to me along the lines of: "That may be what a medical shave down is in your world, but this is what it is here." That response was incredibly dismissive. The terminology was not even the most important issue. The important question was: Why was my double-coated Husky shaved this severely without the extent of the shave being clearly communicated to me beforehand? EVEN WORSE -- MY DOG WAS CUT AND BLEEDING The damage to her coat was NOT the only problem. My dog had also been CUT in extremely sensitive areas during this grooming service. There were injuries around her vulva/genital area and around her butt/rectal area, and she was bleeding. I cannot emphasize this enough: I brought my dog in for grooming and left with a dog who had cuts and bleeding around her private areas. Because I work in the veterinary field, I was able to bring her to my job afterward to have her evaluated and treated for the injuries she sustained following this grooming appointment. I should NEVER have had to seek veterinary treatment for injuries after bringing my dog in for a routine grooming service. At this point, this was no longer simply about whether I liked the appearance of her haircut. My animal was physically injured. KARINA'S RESPONSE: "WE CAN'T GLUE THE HAIR BACK ON." When I tried to address what had happened and explained my concerns to Karina, I was met with a response that I found incredibly insensitive. One of the responses I received was essentially: "Well, what do you want me to do? We can't glue the hair back on." That comment has stuck with me because of how dismissive it felt considering the circumstances. No, obviously nobody can "glue" my dog's hair back on. That is precisely why appropriate communication and informed consent BEFORE dramatically altering a dog's coat matters. And again, this wasn't ONLY about hair. My dog had cuts around her genital and rectal areas that were bleeding and required veterinary attention. CONFLICTING INFORMATION ABOUT JULES' QUALIFICATIONS There was also conflicting information regarding Jules' qualifications. I am writing this with an extremely heavy heart and with complete honesty. We brought our dog,…read morePenny, to Planet Pooch twice after her initial trial, and on her second full day of daycare (12/29/25), she was aggressively attacked. Penny is what we jokingly refer to as a "spectator dog." She does not actively play; she prefers to roam, observe, and cuddle with the staff. With that said, her being attacked (photos attached) came as a huge surprise to us. We understand that dogs will be dogs and that they explore and play using their mouths. We are also fully aware that in a daycare environment, minor scratches can happen during play. What we are most upset about is that Planet Pooch either did not see our dog get attacked, which is inexcusable since staff should be supervising the dogs at all times to prevent situations like this, or they did see her get bitten and chose not to take appropriate action. We frequently checked in on Penny while she was at daycare and were repeatedly told that she was fine and that there was nothing to worry about. However, after picking her up at the end of the day and petting her at home, we discovered a large, bloody gash on her neck. The bite was deep enough that the veterinarian stated a separate incision had to be made to open the tissue pocket created by the bite in order to prevent infection and possible abscesses. We are thankful we found the injury when we did, because we cannot fathom the pain and serious consequences this could have led to if left untreated. While Planet Pooch did agree to cover our dog's initial medical expenses (there are additional follow-up visits we will need and pay for), this does not excuse their lack of supervision or their failure to communicate with us so that we could have taken Penny to the emergency vet immediately instead of finding out hours later. We were told that new procedures would be put in place to prevent this from happening again. I sincerely hope that any dog parent who continues to bring their dog to Planet Pooch holds them accountable to ensure these promises are fulfilled, because we will never be bringing our dog back. I cannot recommend this facility to any dog owner. If you do choose to move forward, I strongly suggest being vigilant and thoroughly checking your pet before and after drop-off. I hope Planet Pooch is proactive and treats this as a serious learning experience for the staff and owner. Unfortunately, this came at my dog's expense. I truly hope Penny recovers without any lasting aggression, fear, or trauma caused by this carelessness.
