Terrible. They don't carry all brands of pet food that they do at petsmart. However, This is not the big problem. Cashiers are not well trained and it takes more than 20 minutes to return a couple of cans of food. This has happened already several times. I am def not coming back. read more

Yikes! Went in to look for some live aquarium plants. No one in the fish department to help, plants on the rack were dying or dead, dead fish in some aquariums. Went and got the manager who said the professional aquarium person was out for the day. The whole fish department needs a makeover. Poor fishes. read more

As far as a pet co, I gave it a 4 star due it has good cricketts, other then that, I can give it a 1 star. Some what rude employees, the dude with the beard, as about as much of a personality as a raw hide bone. The tanks are horrible, most of the fish I looked at had ick, a parasite, not good. Common reptiles, and rodents, place has a funky odor, for not having many animals? If you need good cricketts, this is your store, any fish should be avoided. Brought my dog into the shot clinic. This was the most unorignized place iv ever been at. And the employees are rude to customers and their pets and one employee walked around like she owned the store and was demanding and rude to customers. Very disappointed in this pet co. Multiple employees on a "smoke" break, two employees in the store. One was not even able to stop from "texting" while talking to customers or standing by the register. I have worked in retail for many years and this was totally uncalled for. If your helping customers don't be on your phone at the exact same time. Wanted to buy some reptiles but refuse to give my money to a store that has made me this upset. read more

I came to find bird food. The store was very clean and it was easy to find what I was looking for and they had a lot more variety of brands and types of feed then I've seen at other stores. I was easily able to find a variety that didn't have shelled sunflower seeds. The clerks were nice and friendly. It seems like a good store. read more

Grooming service is horrible. Have tried to get my 2 dogs groomed here about 4-5 times. But I have only succeeded 1 time. I usually get the nails of my dogs trimmed and buffed, which they advertise as a "walk in service". Whenever I walk in, I get denied because they are too busy. Then they ask me to call. Next time, I call and they said they are all booked up and to not bother bringing them in. Guess they just don't want my business. Maybe they shouldn't advertise it as a walk in service. read more

This place SUCKS, and has been bad for years! You can hardly ever find anyone to help you and if you want to get a fish, you better have full documentation of your tank size and exactly what is already in the tank. To be safe, you should probably just take a water sample, sign a liability waiver, and provide documentation, id, and a photo of who is going to take care of that $6.00 goldfish you are trying to purchase. You WILL get fully questioned about your situation and if the employee that finally gets around to helping you doesn't like or understand your situation, they will try to convince you to buy less fish and even then, when they convince you to only put 2 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank, they will try to sell you a larger tank and might even radio up to the front for the cashier to silently hand-write on your receipt that the refund on the one $6.00 goldfish you bought to go with the one other goldfish in your 10 gallon tank is VOID. This place is ridiculous and going down hill. There are hardly any employees probably because there are hardly any customers! I don't see them staying in business much longer. It's like watching CompUSA go down hill and take it out on their customers. The manager and other employee said the goldfish can get up to 8 inches long. OK, so let's suppose it does get that big, it will take years and a larger tank could be purchased at that time! I didn't buy an 8" fish! I bought a fish with a total length of about 3" and there is only one other fish in our 10 gallon tank! I'm done with this place and won't put one more dollar in their register! There is another store with many more employees and many more fish to choose from called PetSmart right down the street and nearly every PetSmart has better Yelp reviews than the Petco Stores! For a manager to sneakily hand-write that a refund is void without EVER MENTIONING ANYTHING ABOUT IT is plain FRAUD! I had to read what the manager wrote on the receipt to even know about it and I would have returned my entire $40 purchase immediately if I hadn't spent the past hour looking for an employee to help us and waiting for my kids to pick out overpriced trinkets to put in their tanks! read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!!!! Beware!!!!!!!!!!! My friend got here dog groomed here and her dog came back clipped, bleeding, and her dogs paw sliced! Like what the heck!!! This is animal abuse!!!! And on top of that she only paid for a certain thing and they charged her for all these things that she didn't even want! Her dog is now at the vet being looked at for broken bones, infections and everything. Poor baby is depressed as well. What type of hell house is this place???? They always do a great job grooming my shepherd. It's about $35 without a coupon for my 90 pound shepherd and they do a great job. She loves being groomed and they don't seem to mind her at all. The staff outside of the grooming area is friendly, as well. read more

After the reviews of this place I'm surprised it's still in business. We walked in and there are about 7-10 employees on the clock right now. They are huddled in two groups side talking. They didn't greet us, ask during our 45 minutes of shopping if we needed anything or even say anything when we were at the registers and left. NOTHING. Zero. There was only a handful of customers during this time and clearly the store is overscheduling in comparison to the volume running through. Will not be back. read more

So today I was very excited to take my puppy for her first hair cut at petco. When we first walked in we were addressed right away. That was not the issue though. I have a Maltese and Shih Tzu mixed puppy who is approximately 4 months old. The groomer (Rachel) and I discussed keeping her fluffy with a small trim, nothing too short. The groomer kept calling her a he, even after being corrected throughout our conversation. I allowed them to take her anyways and was told that it would take 3-4 hours for her to be done. Upon, receiving my dog I noticed that not only was she not fluffy she also looked like a completely different dog. Her hair was the length of a pug puppy. Not at all what we discussed. When I asked Rachel what happened to her being fluffy in a very rude tone she said, "well it's a little too late for that now". I was a little taken back by the statement because this is your job and you should take caring for someone's dog very seriously. I requested to talk to the general manager because Rachel's behavior was unacceptable. The general manager had the same attitude towards the situation as if it were okay for me to have a totally different dog. The general manager resulted in giving me a free haircut but what good is that going to do. I refuse to shop at this petco ever again. The service here was terrible and quite frankly I could have done a better job myself. read more

Signed up for Adult Dog Level Training 1 classes with Katarina. This is our first dog and she was amazing in helping us train him. He is a heeler/collie cross. Very active. Was 8 months old when we started and it is amazing what he can do now. Wish we were here over the summer as would definitely go to the next level and continue training. Sam now sits, comes, stays, lies down on command and she was also most helpful in helping us purchase leases, harnesses required for walking that made it much easier for us. Best decision we every made to go there. read more

worst Petco I've ever been to. I went to buy a gold fish and they had more then half the tanks shut down and there was a dead fish being eaten by another fish. not very appealing. no one asked us if we needed help. we went to pet smart on Hampton after this Petco and we got the help we needed and they had a great selection of fish. don't go to the Petco on power and baseline! read more

Overall very satisfied with this Petco. They stay well stocked and always have clearance bins going with good stuff at deep discounts. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about dog/cat items and take the time to engage in conversation with the customers if nothing much else is going on in the store at the time. There seems to be good turnover with cat and rodent adoptions here, can't speak for the fish or grooming areas. Always an enjoyable visit and a nice outing for the dog, too! read more

I went in the Petco store in Brooklyn, NY trying to get some goldfishes. Guess what? The employees of the goldfish department were asking tons of questions about what and how we are going to set up the tank. I told them I have ten years experience about goldfishes before but I didn't have them for quite a while. In my opinion, they were asking many questions irrelevant or unnecessary regarding goldfish and I don't need to justify whether how I am going to have my goldfish. . Ultimately, they didn't want to sell goldfish. They even suggested me to just get the tank first and after two weeks than get the goldfish. I answered them, I have many different tanks at home already from the previous goldfishes I've used to own many years ago. It seems like is a gimmick that they just want to sell aquariums and tanks rather than goldfish because of the price. Imagine the price of a typical starter kit tank, or any tank in general comparing with the price of the goldfish. Actually I was thinking to get two more new aquariums for my children to have as a starter set with just a few goldfishes inside. Petco is terrible. Not recommended if you want to get goldfish for pet. Their real intention is not to sell goldfish. Their intentions is to sell fish tank instead. I am sure many customers have this terrible experience with the goldfish department about just to buy a few goldfish. This place sucks. !! read more

The health and care of their fish is horrible. I got a few bettas from here, and all of them have lived to a max of 3 months. How is it that my Petco betta has a 10 gallon filtered, tank with everything a better fish may need and he lives 3 months, but my old betta from pet smart was in a 5 gallon tank with just a filter and he lived for 5 years? read more

I spoke with 2 separate employees as well as the manager who were all unable to help with my salt water purchases. This is one of the older PETCO stores and through no fault of their own, this demographic area can sometimes not be the best. That being said, the store really works hard at making the most of what they have. The store is smaller than the newer stores but the employees are creative and use every bit of space to display what they have effectively. I have had the opportunity to work with the staff in grooming and they are top notch in ability and actually care about their 4 legged clients. I have also spoken to other employees within the store and they take their time to answer any questions that you might have from food types to the animals / fish that they sell. I have been most impressed by the job done with keeping the animals and fish clean and fed with fresh food and water. No unhappy pets here! If I could make one suggestion, there needs to be more staff on in the store at any given time. I have seen those folks running back and forth between helping customers on the floor and then the cash register. Thanks you to all for all that you do! Keep up the great work!
