First off, Kimberly (the manager for Grooming Dept.) is amazing. I've been utilizing Petco's grooming services - for years- in both Florida and Connecticut. I've never met an employee that evidently cares about what she is doing as much as Kimberly has shown. Now a days, it seems less and less people care about their job... she does. Do not bring your dog here. The vet appeared highly uneducated regarding ivdd and would not administer a heart worm test even after advising her in detail as to my dog's condition. I am not sure if they have actual vets on staff or if they are all techs. No one was knowledgeable and that is quite concerning. They are ill equipped to provide even the basic care to your pet. I walked in the other day with zero expectations. You never know with a retail place. I have walked in all kinds of retail spots, often no customer service people, place is disheveled; a general sad feel. This Petco didn't have any of those things. I walked into a store that had alot going on. The place had alot of aisles full of stuff but was organized. There was a big bird cage, a spot full of ferrets and a wall of fish. Despite all that, there was no "pet store smell". No one really helped me in the aisles but I went to the register and a gal there helped me find a couple things. After a little searching I did get some good deals. Once at the register I qualified for additional discounts which was greatly appreciated. I actually got talked into a membership thing. It was free and came with automatic discounts. I was impressed enough with the store that even after I had my things set I wandered around to check it out. It's hard not to just watch ferret act like knuckleheads for at least a few minutes. I'm glad this spot turned out to be good, make sit easy for me to stop in next time I need supplies. read more

Zero customer service. I was one of 3 customers in the store, had over $100 worth of merchandise in my basket, kept trying to get someone to help me pick out a bird... When I'd "excuse me" to one of the staff, who walked past me multiple times, they'd literally look the other way pretending not to see/hear me. I put my basket down and walked out. I'm not going to beg someone to take my money. Retailers complain how online shopping is putting them out of business. Maybe if they trained their staff to... I don't know... He did the opposite and then was extremely rude when I expressed my disappointment. Do not ever go here if you want a good grooming or positive customer experience! Finally, A PETSTORE THAT TAKES CARE OF THEIR REPTILES! I was so unbelievably happy to walk in and see that their ball pythons were properly housed and shedding fully! It's a rare sight in petstores! Today I walked in to get my service dog groomed. As I waited in the waiting room I could hear a dog yelling very loudly. I didn't think much of it, it's normal, and they are behind a reflective glass so you can't see anything. It starts to sound like a monkey screaming the dog is getting so loud. All of a sudden I hear the groomer screaming at the absolute top of her (I think) lungs at the dog to shut up. That's when I decided to walk to the front, let the guys working up front know why I was leaving, and left. Two weeks ago I was there and when I got home I realized the food I bought was a year expired. They were very apologetic and fixed the problem, so I guess there's that. I will never be back, ever. read more

Love this petco. The store is kept very clean and organized. They offer grooming and training services. It is best to call for an appointment if your dog needs grooming because they get pretty busy. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you sign up for a petco card you get substantial savings on purchases like dog food etc. With my petco card I save about $4 per bag of Royal Canine. This location is horrible!! Do not use them. Took my two dogs( a small Yorkie and an Italian greyhound) one for grooming and one for just a bath! She quoted me 20 some dollars for the bath and then charge me 41+ just for the bath. And $48 for the bath and grooming. I called them and asked them about the charge for the bath only and they said that that what their price. What a rip off! Not to mention the fact that they were trying to give my dogs away to some man who called and asked about them on the phone! When I called and spoke to the manager she was not very helpful. The lady who does the grooming Priscilla was also not very helpful. Will never use this place for my babies again! read more

I have been shopping at this Petco for about a year now. They are always super friendly and knowledgeable! Last July I bought a fairly expensive set of pet shears as I wanted to clip my two dogs and three cats myself. When I went to use them the forth time 6 months later they wouldn't cut. I went back and the on sight groomers not only diagnosed the problem, they told me how to avoid it in the future, and gave a new part at no charge, even though the fault was clearly mine. These people are great at what they do and are truely passionate about pets and outstanding customer service. I doubt Amazon would have treated me the same! Two thumbs up Petco!!! read more

i shop here all the time but i may change locations now because of what happened this morning. doors were wide open at 9 am and i was completley out of dog food and as i was grabbing some, a lady from the front was yelling to tell another worker they werent open. they then proceeded to tell me the store doesnt open till 10 but the groomer opens at 9 and kicked me out of the store. i understand not allowing customers in before opening but if the doors are wide open and a customer walks in dont make them leave. you should at the very least help them with the 1 item they NEEDED to purchase if thats what they were there for. i understand people come here for fun but i had my dogs food in my hand at the front (meaning i had what i needed and was ready to leave with my purchase) and they still made me leave without letting me buy dog food. i understand this isnt required but it shows how much these people really dont care about the customers that shop with them. i felt very embarrassed even though it was their fault i went in thinking they were open which they admitted to. read more

I must say after over a year of coming to Petco at multiple different locations Including Petco's in California where we moved from. We haven't received service as good as we receive from Lighthouse Point Petco location specifically from Karina. She is very good at what she does and not only that, she treats every dog like her own child. Our Mr. Bentley came back very happy and she took her time to take out all of his knots instead of just shaving him all the way down to bald like another Petco did once. She also has a great sense of style and left the Fur on his head a good greater length from his body so that he looks fashionable and not like A scary Rat. She took her time to call us during the cut to update us on how he was doing and called us hours later once we were already home to make sure we were satisfied with everything since she was on lunch break when we picked him up. We are giving Karina five stars. And making her Mr. Bentley's official hairstylist! read more
