Totally inept staff that shouldn't have been handling the issue I raised in the first place. A manager should have been called and wasn't, therefore an uninformed, inept front desk person took it upon herself to handle an issue she was not qualified to . Rude, non-solution seeking, sassy, belligerent, unhelpful. The manager was not able to hold back his anger when I spoke to him about the issue. All he wanted to do was pounce and defend his ill-tempered front desk person. There was 0 attempt to hear me, as the client, out. TOTAL MISMANAGEMENT from start to finish. I was really anxious about my dog playing with other dogs while traveling. The employees were all so understanding and patient with my nervousness. I must've asked about a hundred questions, and called a few times lol, but I never felt like a burden. They were all so happy to help! They were also super transparent with pricing and explained everything in detail. I watched teddy on the webcam during group play, he looked very happy. I've used them several times and the experience has been great--my dog seemed happy and the staff is friendly. However we annoyingly had our recent "reservation" declined for July 4th weekend. Our dog sitter got sick last minute and we needed last minute boarding. I received an email from Pompano Pet Lodge titled "Last Chance to Book" at 7:45pm. I immediately went though the online booking process which took 15 minutes--not a great interface and thought that was taken care of. Then I get a call at 9:30 the next morning telling me my reservation was declined? I was annoyed and tried to suggest that they not let people book online for dates that they are full bc it's a waste of time. The worker didn't seem receptive to my suggestion and/or didn't understand why that would be annoying. It's even worse bc they collect a deposit in full so it's not like you can book two kennels and cancel one if they both go through. So, the lesson is to be sure to call and book your reservation especially if it's a busy weekend or last minute. Hopefully the business will take my suggestion to tie their reservation system in with their vacancy information bc I do think they take good care of the animals. read more

As my flight landed in Houston I received an urgent message to call PPL. They told me that my dog was attacked, unprovoked by another dog there. PPL did all the right things, took my dog to emergency care and brought him back to PPL when he was better. The Operations Manager kept in constant touch with me during and after his initial vet visit - everything about his condition, meds he was being given, how was eating, follow up visits to the Vet, etc. After my dog was home I contacted PPL with a few concerns and questions I had but did not receive any responses. This was very disappointing as their customer service had always been so great. As soon as the new General Manager heard about my disappointment in their customer service he contacted me and resolved all but one of my concerns right away! That one concern was over a burdensome corporate policy which is out of his control. And, is the only reason I rated PPL 4 stars out of 5. Big thanks to PPL for taking such good care of my much beloved dog and assisting me! PPL has assured me that the dog who attacked mine is no longer welcome there. read more

TLDR: These people will take care of your fur baby with tender love and care. ___ I travel a few times a year for work, and when my friends can't take care of my pup, I have to put her...somewhere. I looked on Yelp for somewhere that would take Zoe in for a few days and came across Pompano Pet Lodge, not too far from my house. Now. Zoe isn't easy. She was a rescue and has crippling anxiety. When I have friends over she shakes uncontrollably. When it's thundering she zooms into the closet and doesn't come out for hours. Even when I go pet her, she grimaces just a little, even after having her for 8 year. So naturally I was a little hesitant to leave her with strangers. The folks at PPL took such good care of her. They walked her daily (I could watch her on the webcams) and when I went to pick her up they mentioned she didn't want to play with other dogs, so they brought her into the office and she just laid at the feet of whoever was working the front desk. A little love and closeness (and bacon) is all Zoe wants. I'll hopefully not have to leave her more often, but next time I do, there's only one place I'm taking her. read more

The facility is OK, until you go to sign their agreement. The owner agreement basically states that during hurricane season if a storm occurs, they hope the building stands up to the storm and the dogs will be left unattended. How this is not considered willful neglect is shocking. Other facilities we've looked into state our pup would be evacuated to a safe location at our expense. I have used this service a couple of times the last time over the Thanksgiving holiday, something seems to have changed. I walked into a different atmosphere the clerk although polite telling me my dog was permanently banned from group play conveniently on the last day because he would not leave his sisters side they are a bonded pair when I say conveniently on the last day because I paid $17.00 a day for extra play time. Permanently banned seems to be the new term there as I witnessed Leo not my dog be banned for humping another dog it seems to be a control freak attitude. I will never go back there my dogs came home smelly and it seemed like they hadn't had a drink of water for days. I paid over fourteen dollars for their services that I don't think were rendered. Was very happy with my dogs stay at Pompano Pet Lodge! It was her first time ever being boarded and they took extra measure to make sure she was ok and sociable with other dogs. I happened to log into the cameras when they were walking her around the play area for her temperament test. Once they realized she was ok and was taken off the leash, the dog handler stayed with her and knelt down to love on her to make her feel comfortable. I enjoyed watching her on the cameras everyday! There are doggie daycare places, and then there is pompano pet lodge. This place is an incredible spot to take your fluffy one for either day care, boarding or both. The facility is huge compared to other places nearby, the prices are reasonable, and most of all... The staff are AMAZING. They absolutely love the animals brought to their facility. They will pay attention to your pooch even if there are 20 other dogs. Dog specific daily reports keep you in the loop on your pups behavior, they will even let you know who your dog's best dog friends are. While my pup, Mazzy, gets an occasional correcting, they are very quick to diffuse any situations before they escalate (they use distractions meathos such as a spray from the hose, which works 90% of the time), and they include that in the report. I have 3 dog daycares closer to my home than this one, and I still (and will) make the extra trek to make sure my pup sees the level of care given by the wonderful staff of Pompano Pet Lodge! read more

My dog is like a daughter. A very important girl, so I have to be sure she is in a clean and safe environment when I travel. With that said, I became a 1st time customer of the Pompano Pet Lodge on March 12th. For the past 7 years, I have only used Bark Ave. Pet Resort. About a week before my scheduled pet stay, they called with bad news. They were shutting down within days -- a casualty of the South Florida economy. "Mary" has only been to Bark Ave, so this was new to her too. Before I booked here, I searched for reviews and ruled most of the other options out. My veterinarian suggested I call Pompano Pet Lodge. Before doing that, I searched the web for reviews. Pompano Pet Lodge had 6 good reviews (none on Yelp) and no bad ones. Next, I called to see if they had availability, which they did. I then decided to make a surprise visit the next day. When I arrived (with Mary and 2 friends) we were greeted in the office and offered a tour. Mary stayed in the office, while a staff member took us around to the different areas. The place seemed very clean and organized. There were indoor/outdoor runs and a smaller area with just indoor space. Outside, there were several areas where they walk the dogs and a huge area with pool for the Group Play. All of this was behind two sets of fences. I decided to book the "Pampered Pet Package" in the in 4X26' indoor/outdoor run. The cost was $28 per day and for that you get the run and either two 15-minute walks, or "Group Play" for one hour. In addition, they offer additional walks, etc. They also allow you to bring a bed and two toys. I arrived a little early on the 12th, so that she could get acclimated before the staff closes up for the evening. This was suggested by the staff. Apparently, they all leave by 6pm and return the next morning early. Mary seemed fine with me leaving her there, which was a good sign. I called once while away and got a good report. The staff keeps a daily record of how each pet is behaving, how they eat, etc. When I returned was well and Mary was happy to see me. I'll be bringing her back! read more

We've been taking our two beagles to the Pompano Pet Lodge for several years now and they do an amazing job. I initially brought them here since they are down the street from my job but each time we've picked them up I'm confident in how well our "kids" (at least for now) are taken care of here. It may be a tad pricey compared to other lodges but they genuinely care for each of their clients. When we were out of the country last year we were able to log into an app they have where you can see your pups play via their webcams, plus they will give you detailed reports on what other pups they played with and such. It's truly like a vacation spot for dogs and you can tell all of the employees truly enjoy their jobs. Highly recommended! read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I have brought my dog her a few times when I have no other option because I am going out of town or something. The staff seems nice and seem to be animal lovers. I was told that my dog looks like a pit bull so will not have access to the pool or group play and instead would get individual walks each day. After my last visit they urged me to follow the company on snap chat. Where I have seen several dogs that LOOK exactly like pit bulls and are in group play. I adopted my dog and was told she was boxer and bull dog. The pet lodge told me a lot of times when you adopt they lie to you because they want you to adopt the dog. I offered to take my dog to the vet and get DNA testing and if she is proven not to be a pit bull can she participate in group play. I was told no because she looks like a pit bull. Here is my problem my dog is part of the family and interacts with humans and other animals every day for multiple hours a day. I paid almost $500 for my dog to be isolated for a week. When she came home she was depressed and sulking around and wouldn't even eat. I would have to sit with her just for her to eat. My dog has never shown any aggression towards humans or other animals. I can understand her not being allowed in the group area of there was an incident but there was never one. And if the "insurance company" won't allow them in for group play they I feel there should be allotted time for her to have access to the pool and the hose games they play with the other dogs. I am going to attach a picture of my dog and of another dog that I feel looks just like a pit bull and is clearly in group play In defense of the pet lodge when I originally voiced my concerns about seeing other dogs on snap chat that looked more like pit bulls then my dog a manager called me back and said the dog I was referring to looks like a boxer to them. Smh and she would give me a discount next time I bring my dog in. I asked could I pay extra for office time or some kind of human interaction because she is a family dog it seems to have traumatized her being isolated so much. And I was told no because of the insurance company rules. It's not like I don't pay or this is a cheap place $500 is a lot for my dog to stay in a cage and you let her put 3 times a day!!! read more

My dog loves going to daycare here! The first day they had a trainer focus on him and make sure he was playing happily and safely. Since they are so aware of the dogs' relationships and there are always multiple trained staff members walking around they are able to have a lot of dogs out at once and huge indoor and outdoor play areas. It's also perfect if your dog is timid because they will remove him/her from the group but instead of just keeping them in a kennel they set up separate playtimes and offer training. This is a good fit if you are looking for premium pet care. It's a bad fit if you're looking for the cheapest option or if you need a vet on staff. My schnauzer Jack has gone here for daycare and boarding for the last six months. He'd give it ten stars - he can't contain his excitement when we pull up to the facility. I watch him on snapchat run around like a maniac all day chasing dogs, balls, playing with his handlers, and jumping in the pool. He comes home happy and totally worn out. As the human paying for it, I am happy because it's much easier to care for him. He doesn't have separation anxiety and he is socialized around other humans and dogs. It made it easier to train him and gives me peace of mind when at work. The staff is the best attribute. The handlers are energetic dog lovers. The office staff is professional and efficient. It's been great getting to know everyone over the last six months--there is not much turnover which must be a good sign about the quality of management. They work hard to make the pickup/dropoff a quick exchange. The facilities are kept very clean--but it's still a dog park with a pool--so my pup needs more frequent baths. I boarded two large working dog breeds here for an over the weekend vacation. It looked like a good place online but I was deeply disappointed when I came to pick up my dogs. I purchased the highest tier of boarding for my dogs that allowed all day play and 5 walks a day. However, I am highly doubtful that my dogs were walked. As soon as they brought my dogs outside, they immediately peed like they were not taken out to walk since at least the previous night. Why were my dogs not walked and properly cared for when I spared no expense for my babies. This is not acceptable when your dogs are like your children and you spend top dollar! Furthermore, my dogs behavior were strikingly different then when they are both physically and mentally worked. I don't know for sure but I suspect that my dog may have been given a tranquilizer or sedated. Moreover, be sure to check your belongings when picking the items that you leave for your dogs. One of two dog begs were missing for 10 minutes as an associate when to look for it. I have no relation to another customer who observe that her dogs were not walked either so I suspect that this facility has systemic problems and routinely does not take good care of dogs. UPDATE: Within hours of taking my dogs home, one of my dogs started limping. Upon examining her paw pads, there were legions and a little bit of blood. She's also wheezing like she has kennel cough. read more
