Do NOT use this salon. My pet was very distraught after her visit. They seem to not have much experience with animals and seem very hesitant to handle even a small shih tzu puppy without trepidation, which the animals clearly feel. They also won't accept pets that have been prescribed sedatives- pretty ironic since the first visit we had here, the salon tech herself recommended "something to calm her down" for next time, since they were unable to complete a basic cut on my small dog. When you are down here getting bubble tea at Cha Boba - because that is the number one reason to come to League City and believe me I go to League City for that exact reason on a very regular basis - you can also get some expensive cat food and cool little cat toys that are hard to find anywhere else, from this location of this awesome pet chain. I was in League City with my dog going to a different pet store. Decided to pop into PetCo to see if they had any Goat Horn Chew Treats because my dog LOVES them! They keep her busy for two or three hours. I have only been able to find these at PetCo stores so I think they must be exclusive deal. The store was nice, everything you would expect from this chain. More like Vetco total CRAP. This place is such a scam. They bullied me into giving them permission to over-vaccinate my dog even though she did not physically need extra vaccinations and I had proof that she didn't need it. They threatened to withhold all medical treatment and overall were really nasty about it. Even though I told then many times I did not want that vaccine, they did it anyway, without my consent, then forced me to pay for it. I'd go elsewhere unless you want the same thing to happen to your poor fur baby too. read more

This review is for grooming. My poodle came out cute as a button. My groomer had a death in the family and I called 4 places to get my baby tidied up for thanksgiving. Petco was overbooked and they still smooshed me in. I also forgot my proof of rabies and the lady at the desk was very nice and patient whiled I looked for her records on-line. Considering they were very busy, she could have just walked off. My girl was done early and the groomer did exactly what I asked for. Price was the going rate. This place was SO messy you couldn't even tell what the cost of half the items where! And the amount of dead animals was horrendous.

I have been a faithful customer at Petco for the past year. I have purchased 3 conures from here and many supplies. I was given a price for a bird on 4/5/23 so I wrote it down and spoke with my husband about it, and it is now 4/7/23 and they will not honor the price due to them saying it was a glitch in their computer system... I was on the phone while in store with their Corporate office and have had an ongoing issue with them not giving me my pet perks because they had created 4 accounts for me when I've only given them one phone number when I come in and one email address. Now they are saying I can't use my perks because they are all expired. Now I have spent over $3000 in just birds and much much more in supplies, it is not my fault (the customer) that they can't get their system straight and it's not my fault that I've never received these rewards to even be able to use either or I would have used them! The lady on the phone was absolutely useless and just didn't care about pleasing the customer whatsoever. As I'm talking on the phone from the store I had plenty of customers around me wanting to see and hold my bird; so they knew exactly what was being discussed and they also chimed in about the customer care there as well as the ridiculous pricing. So moving on, I wasn't able to get the price which was quoted to me to be $372.37 out the door with all the discounts and perks that I was supposedly given and after having to sign up for their program which gives me 20% off of all my purchases. So actually after paying for the bird at $430.82, I get home and there is no band on my conure! But on the paperwork there is a band number on 2 separate documents... hmmm I don't think that I will be spending any more money with this company going forward. I will say 1 positive thing though about this location, the employees for the most part are extremely friendly and helpful. read more

never come to this petco location!!!!!! the grooming salon is a complete joke!!!! they are rude and lazy!!! when dropping off my dog we were late due to an accident and told they could not take us but when looking at 4 groomers all on their phone do absolutely nothing i find it hard to believe we couldn't reschedule for another time slot!!! and when the young man with blonde highlights told me "well we are leaving early today so..." i am so extremely infuriated on how i was treated and would of feared retaliation on my dog if i even had left him there! point of the story the poor mans customer service was null and void and needs to be reassigned to another department!!!!!! i will be telling my story to every pet owner i know!!!!!! read more

I took my Pomeranian here and they butchered her hair. I am beside myself. The groomer kept saying that my dog was trying to bite her. Mind you (she has no teeth). She also kept saying that my Pom was extremely matted and the only spot she was matted was on her back side! I had paid for the spa package and added the additional to get her nails painted and that wasn't even done. She made up for it by giving me a 25% off coupon and still costing me around $51.00. It still doesn't make my baby look any better. She looks awful. Her hair is uneven, and I was still charged. I will NEVER bring her back here again. read more

This petco is getting 4 out of 5 stars. Everyone there is so helpful and knowledgeable. They make my shopping experience wonderful and because of this i go out of my way to shop here, even though there are other petco's closer to me. The only reason this petco doesn't get the fifth star is because of one manager named Maria. Every time my family and I go there, she has an attitude and is just rude and disrespectful. I've seen her belittle employees in-front of myself & other customers. She acts like she doesn't want to be there and it ruins the experience for people. read more

My dogs looked great, had no issues (irritation, nicks etc) and seemed happy. My only issue was the cost - their prices have gone up much more than inflation which surprised me. I showed up to the appointment and was told that it was cancelled and that I did not show up for my last appointment. The person who I talked to on the phone did not cancel the old appointment and did not make the new one either even though I was told that appointment was not possible. My specialty dog food is always in stock. I'm here about every two weeks to refill my food and dental bones and each and every time while I am still in the isle an employee will ask if I need help. This place refused to sell me small $3.99 fish after learning I was in the process of buying a fish tank for the new fish. My wife and I took our 5 & 6 year old to the store to look at the different pets and such. After talking with the kids, we decided to tell them we were gonna get 2 fish as a new and first pet for them. They got super excited and picked out 2 small fishes (even gave them names :(...so we searched for fish tanks, gathered the rocks, even picked out some fish tank accessories. We let one of their employees know we are wanting to buy 2 small fishes and he starts asking me what tank are they going in, how big is it, and let's me know I need to have my tank set up 3 days prior to buying the fish. I let him know, well im here with my kids, we're buying everything we need now and would like to take the fish home. He starts telling me well u need to have the tank set up prior. I cut to the chase and ask him "ok are u refusing to sell me the fish?" And he lets me know that he can't sell me the fish. I was completely stunned and ask to speak with a manager, but a "team lead" walked up that wasn't any help either. The employees and team lead failed to let me know that they will not sell pets if they feel where they are going is not a suitable for them to live. Which I can understand, however my complaint is that if you're so high and mighty about animal rights, why are they in the business of selling animals for pets? Oh, when it comes to making a dollar off of each animal you sell, you want to make sure you can make a dollar but act like u care of where they end up. This company is literally commercializing fish, dogs, birds, cats... etc to make a dollar but want to be animal activists at the same time?!? Get out of here with that BS!! You're company is literally based off of making money off animals but want to fight for their rights. Yeah ok!! "Let me make my dollar first, at the same time save face to make sure they go to a good home"...went over to pets smart across the Frwy and spent $200 on some fish and a tank. Went to Walmart, bought "fresh water" that is boxed up for fish tanks and is already prep and the fish are doing fine. Never again. Please read the reviews on here for this grooming salon. I wish I had. The groomer who was supposed to groom our dog and with whom we left her apparently went home ill. These things happen; however, we were never notified, and our dog was passed on to another groomer, and the dog became stressed. Grooming is stressful as it is without changing people midstream. The dog was supposed to be ready at 2 PM. The appointment was for 9 AM. At 1:19 we received a call to come get her. The groomer cut her halfway and determined she was too stressed to finish and left her undone. Why didn't she call when the first groomer left? I would have gotten her out of there. This petco used to be awesome for aquatics, one of the best places around even beating out local stores, they would get all different species of freshwater and marine fish that nobody else could get, they would have tons of tank ready driftwoods and plants, snails, a dragon tank that took years to culture some of the corals they had in there for sale, and since the two employees that ran it are no longer there it has gone down hill, hair algae and diatom blooms in all of the marine tanks, bleached out corals and the drag tank was completely empty, the 3 corals that they did have would not be safe to put in my tank due to such poor health. I will have to find another store to shop at for my aquatic needs. It's sad that this petco used to be the goto store for hard to get frags and fish. read more

I love the layout of this store and my kids love to go in and look at the aquariums while we're shopping for our dog items. They always have great stuff and the location is very convenient to my house. We had the pleasure of trying out the vetco vet services for puppy shots recently and that was an awesome deal! We purchased one of our birds from this store and we love him so much. When we went back to the store, though, we found another bird who was a young hatchling, just barely old enough to be there for sale and his wings had been trimmed by a butcher. They were cut back so short it was horrible and the bird was terrified. We wanted to buy him just to get him out of the store and away from that treatment. We made our displeasure evident to one of the managers, and when we returned the next day to buy the bird, they informed us that he had been sold. I don't believe for a minute he was sold--I think they transferred him to another store or god forbid did something to get rid of him so that we couldn't file a complaint against them. My biggest regret is that we didn't buy that bird and rescue him right then the first day--but we had another bird and we needed to make sure we could make accommodations for the new bird... They have regularly had birds there who stayed for several weeks or even months, and this bird was brand new and they want to convince me that he sold the first week they had him? I don't buy it. They lied to me and they were not taking good care of their birds. It makes me really wonder about the care they give to their other animals. In addition to this, they had cockatiels in a glass cage with no perches at all... they were all just waddling around on the bottom of the glass enclosure. That's no way for birds to live! I really, really wish Petco and places like them would stoop selling live animals... they can still make a huge profit selling pet supplies, but they need to give up the live animal sells. There are so many animals in need of good homes, there's no reason for them to buy breeding animals and sell them. read more

The chinchilla looked really sad though. He needs more cubby holes to hide in since he is nocternal. He looked super stressed. Theres enough cubby holes to put him in right 5 fr away. I like that they have a large variety of animals, but they could stand to make a lot of improvements in their stores. We were there for 20 minutes before we saw a single employee. Wasn't even anyone at the register. Once we did see one, we had to find them to tell them that the baby chameleon they were housing was laying dead in the middle of the tank. There was a vacuum that has been left in the middle of the aisle in front of he ferret tank, overall just dirty and unorganized. When I walked in to the fish area, the price stickers were all over the place, couldn't tell which ones went where, and some were in places that the fish weren't even being housed. Bathrooms were disgusting. And then the girl at the register was just wearing a plain v-neck grey tshirt. Only reason we knew she worked there was because she had her name tag on.
