We were actually rejected by 2 other places! and I was very upset and worried no one would take my baby, and then I found this place! Ends up he didn't have any aggression issues after training but he is left with severe anxiety. This place is very attentive and takes extra special care of our babies. Plus for aggressive dogs, they do have a no-contact / touch option to let them in and out of the kennel. And they have radios / TV if your babies need that sound to soothe. I wanted to assure the pet owners of the exceptional care and attention they'll receive at the Clear Lake Kennels in Webster, Texas. The best kennel in the town is devoted to the care of your dogs. The staff is sober, loving, decent, and joyful, and they provide the best service. They're definitely the angels. The facility is clean, hygienic, well-equipped, and well-stuffed. Their fees are also very reasonable. We kept our chihuahua while we traveled overseas for 5 days. We were worried about her, as she wasn't feeling well and was very weak to walk properly. Melanie, the manager/owner assured us they also have some fragile dogs, and Naomi will be doing fine under their care. They kept our refrigerated food to feed her daily twice and provided her with treats and other foods we left. Melanie is very nice, cheerful and friendly. She regularly texted me to send updates on Naomi, sent me photos holding her gently, and videos talking to her affectionately and showing how she's eating, walking, sleeping, and doing outside work. Other staff are also very polite, sincere, loving, and took great care of her. When we picked her up, Naomi was, in fact, better than before when we dropped her off there. I wish this facility got everyone's support to exist and expand because the selfless work they do every day, taking superior care of dogs when dog owners are in need, is a sacrifice. I have 2 American Standard poodles that required a groomer that understand the breed and the different types of hair cuts that any individual can/could imagine. I have found that groomer, her name is Katie Weldon and is a professional on every level. She listens to me on how I want my poodles groomed as I have them done differently from one another. I have tried several other groomers before I found Katie, and so glad I kept looking for the groomer I wanted. She brushes their teeth and files there nails and makes them beautiful!!! First time taking my 3 fur kids there. Have used other kennels before and was not crazy about how my fur kids seemed coming home. A family memeber suggested this place and we decided to board our 3 fur kids. Staff was very sweet and welcoming at drop off. We had asked they all 3 be groomed before coming home. They were actually ready to be picked up ahead of schedule and my dogs seemed great. They seemed very well taken care of while they were there. Will be using again when we need to board them again. Rude employees and owner. Snobbish and strange. The guy behind the counter kept complaining about all the staff to me, the owner came in and was so snobbish I just wanted to get my dog and leave. They all seemed more concerned about some free food than taking care of my pet. It took an hour and a half for a puppy trim which is just potty parts and eyes, clip nails (which they made him bleed) and paws. They knew I was waiting and blamed my dog for having too much hair! We left our dog here for 4 days and the staff is very friendly and nice. Didn't really get to see the area where the dog stays (which we should have) so I can't review that. They waive the last day of boarding if you get your dog groomed which is nice. Only thing was, when you drop your dog off, they ask if your dog wants 'play time' but don't really say if they will charge you for this. After I asked, they said it was $15 for 6 minutes of 'play time.' That's just highway robbery for 'playing' with a dog. This should be included for $24/day. read more

We brought our pomeranian in for grooming. Michelle was able to help us figure out what our dog needed for the heat, and (very nicely) educated me on some misconceptions I had. She also did a great job getting a couple mats out and fading it into the rest of his fur without leaving awkward bald spots. This place is amazing. The owner Melanie really seems to care for the fur kids. Whenever people pick up their dogs, she is able to give them a comprehensive summary on how they did. She allows me to come back to see where my pup is going to get housed which I have not always found universal practice with kennels. I have a difficult shiba and she agreed to take her on without hassle and my pup comes back happy from them!! Really great staff, very professional and they clearly love what they do. I was nervous about boarding and haven't boarded our dogs in 3 years after a bad experience elsewhere. From the moment I placed my phone call I knew this was the right choice. The prices are very good, the place is clean and well kept. If you have big dogs or several dogs, they have 4 huge "suites" but it sounds like they book quickly (our Great Pyrenees and 85 pound mix breed stayed in one of them). When my husband went to pick up our dogs, the staff alerted him that one of our dogs didn't want to eat or go outdoors. I'm so thankful for the honesty and how observant they were. Before we picked up our dogs we had them both bathed. I'm sure several of you can relate to paying for a bath and picking up a dog that's obviously clean but doesn't smell very nice. I would like to give no stars. They had my cat in a tiny box all day, I brought him in at 10am and picked up 5pm. I told them flea bath then board him comfortably until I get there. That was not done, they placed him in a tiny box that he couldn't even stand or turn around in. They over charged us for a wash. When my husband picked him up at 5pm the staff was extremely rude. They are all over the place, unprofessional, and lack of knowledge. I treat my cat the same way I treat my 2yr old son and what they did was unacceptable. I advice you to take your pet anywhere but here. What they did to my cat was a type of animal abuse. We will never be back and never recommend this place. I used to be one of those people that said I would never board my dogs because I thought it was so mean. Well, having several dogs and I found that I can't always travel with all of them. Thankfully I found Clear Lake Kennels! I am VERY particular with my dogs. I want them to be SAFE and what I love abut Clear Lake Kennels is they have really knowledgeable staff. I compete competitively with my dogs and I trust the owner because she has such a well known reputation among professionals. I went to Europe and people knew of her and my local vet actually had really good things to say about her as well. The staff is good about noticing if a pet is anxious and how to make them more comfortable or how to tell if they might not be feeling well. For me this is very important, because I want my dogs to be happy when I am gone! They have indoor - outdoor kennels which I really like. I know if the dogs have to be walked by hand, it sounds good in theory, but if one worker has to walk 20 dogs by hand, the last dog walked has to wait a lot longer than if they just had their own yard to use. When picking a kennel, I like that they have a huge generator to provide AC if the power should go out. I think they said they have French drains so they didn't even flood during Harvey when highway 3 was under water. (In my mind, I just assume an apocalypse is going to happen because I hate leaving my babies so I want a place that is prepared for the crazy things, cuz then you know they can handle the every day stuff). read more

We LOVE Clear Lake Kennels. We've had our dogs with them for both boarding and grooming for 20 years. They have a great set up to board, the dogs get their own room, beds off the ground. You can have them take the pups out to the huge play yard and play with them, with doggie ice cream treats afterward. They also do top notch grooming. We've had Shetland Sheepdogs groomed there and there's never been any problems with the wash, brush out (and omg, is there a lot of brushing on Shelties) and they always look great. It's a treat for them to go to "doggie spa" and see their friends. When we lost one of the Shelties due to illness, we got a card in the mail with condolences. They had seen my post on Facebook and sent it. That's how Clear Lake Kennels is, they're family. read more

I've been taking my dog here for over a year (about 12 kennel stays/yr). They know Ziggy and I by name. When my dog gets here he is like "see ya". He loves it. I think he enjoys seeing the other dogs. Its good stimulation since he is an only child :) This place is clean and inexpensive. He has only come home sick once and I just chalked that up to the fact that he probably caught something like your child might going to school. It cleared right up. My only complaint (and its not really a complaint I guess) is that they keep the place so clean my dog smells like the cleaner they use. I have to give him a bath as soon as he gets home. I'm not sure how this would affect their service of grooming dogs before they come home after a stay because I can tell you I would not want to pay to have my dog groomed and come home smelling like cleaning solution. I am writing a post for Clear Lake Grooming in Webster TX. Years ago I had a Scottie and took her there for grooming and was pleased with the service and the Scottie cut, so when I got a new little Scottie, I naturally returned expecting the same, big mistake. Not only did they not do a Scottie cut, more like a Schnauzer cut and botched to boot. eyebrows cut different lengths, cut on left ear, ear cut and body cut not for a Scottie, although they pretend to know what they are doing. Needless to say, I have learned my lesson. I will never return and will caution all of my friends with pets including my trainers classes to beware, I called them on it and never heard a word in response. read more

EVERY groomer I have met there is talented and patient and I have seen the scruffiest matted dogs turn out beautifully. Oh, and they're extremely clean. I usually take my dogs to the Pink Poodle in League City for boarding and grooming but they are closed for business. So I brought my dogs here to board and groom and what a mistake. The first red flag was that I didn't have to bring proof of vaccinations. They asked who my vet was when I dropped them off, they noted it in the computer and I was out the door. It doesn't matter if they verify it later, my dogs were already there and I was gone. At the time I thought it was kind of convenient but when I picked up my dogs I saw the problem with there process. My dogs both had flees and one had a visible tick. The groomer did a horrible job, I think her name was Kathy or Katy. My dogs both looked like Ray Charles had groomed them under the direction of Stevie Wonder. When I called back and spoke with the owner she was completely useless. She says the groomers are contracted so there is nothing she can do...WTF....You have them in your business and you collected my money not them, so I think there is something you can do. She said that they can make me another appointment to have my dogs re-groomed in a couple of weeks.....You must be crazy lady, if you think I would bring my babies back to your business. If you don't care about your pets and they have no vaccines take them here. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS AND DON'T WANT THEM CATCHING GHETTO DOG DISEASE....PASS THIS PLACE UP. read more

We have been taking our dogs here for several years for boarding. However the last 3 times over the last year they have came home very sick. When we picked them up last we were told that several of the dogs had been infected with Canine Cough or Infectious Tracheobronchitus. They said that so far our dogs and all other there did not show any of these symptoms. However they would not allow our dogs into the building when we picked them up during a blinding rain storm due to any possible contamination chances. We had to stand out in the rain to receive them which was a big red flag that they were already sick while staying there 4 days. Sure enough our two small babies are extremely sick and we are having to take them to the vet. This is the third time our dogs have gotten sick with the same symptoms. The last time was over New Year's Eve an we ended up in the 24 Hour Emergency Animal Hospital after the smallest one had bloody diarrhea, shaking, and was lifeless. $1000.00 later with an IV giving her fluids and antibiotics she slowly got better. Now we are back to where we were in January with two very sick dogs. Clear Lake Kennels has a contamination problem and has had it for a very long time. I will never recomend this place to anyone with small animals. We will be seeking a new place for all future boardings. read more

My brother in law made a boarding and grooming appointment for his dog and a boarding appointment for my dog the night of my wedding. My husband and I had recently had our dog groomed and didn't need the additional grooming. There was a mix up at the kennel and our dog got shaved and his dog did not get groomed at all. Talk about a shock the day after your wedding! The only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 star is because of the way they handled the situation. I used to take my very large golden retriever to Petsmart. They are over priced and not friendly and never do the extras that CL Kennel does. Plus my dog is a big baby he gets scared easily.
