It's a bummer that this is the only pet store close to me. The store constantly looks like it's under construction with pallets of product in the isles. But the worst part is how crazy slow they are. There's literally 3 employees helping an employee check out (who was apparently on the clock) while one slow as molasses guy is checking people out. Their Vetco services is well organized and thorough. Friendly staff. The groomers are so nice and friendly- they'd have to be special to get my fur baby to trust them and groom her. Crazy story time! My family and I were on the way to the water park when we almost hit a kitten in the middle of the road. I told my boyfriend to pull over and I went into a bush to grab this little guy. We went to our nearest petco to grab the essentials. We ended up spending two hours at this petco because the wonderful manager named Chris was helping us get our new little buddy into the vet. He spent two hours walking us around the store finding the perfect product for our little guy. Then went out of his way to call a bunch of locations to get us into a vet today. Brought my dog to get a new toy before we went to the dog park. The store was a bit messy so we quickly picked one out and waited in line to pay for our items. As I'm about to pay one of the coworker's tells me I need to go pick up my dog's pee. I assured him the pee was there before we arrived and I had to pull my dog away from smelling it. The coworker insisted it was my dog since he passed by and didn't see it before. I told him once more it wasn't my dog. I don't have an issue cleaning up after my dog but it's very insulting to accuse customers to clean a mess they didn't make. The guy at the register advised me that this shouldn't happen and it's actually their job to clean it up. Regardless, this experience has made me feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, and discriminated (as there were other customer's with their dogs). read more

I am so mad at this last visit to Petco. I took my kids to get a couple of new fish. There's only a couple people working and a line at the register so we waited and looked at the fish for awhile. After a bit, we walked up front, the lady at grooming acknowledged me and I asked if we could get someone at the fish department when it's possible, no rush. She said yes, let the guy know who also acknowledged me. So we go back to wait. About 10-15 more min of waiting, a lady shows up with her kids waiting as well. Ok, she saw us, knew we were waiting, I thought. The employee finally came to the fish dept and the last stated talking to him. He saw me, he knew we've been waiting for a long time. She knew we were waiting first. He didn't even say a thing to me, helped her instead and just left us waiting even longer. When he finally got back, he's trying to apologize for the wait. I told him that wasn't ok to help that lady first when he knew we were waiting for a long time. He knew we were there and that she came after us. I told him I don't care if the fish are only¢30, that's not ok and not a reason to just ignore us and keep someone else. And it's not like we were not visible. We were literally 4 feet from this lady when he came. All in the same area. The ONLY reason I waited so long was for my kids. But now my kids as well as myself feel like crap because this guy decided to not say to they other lady to hold on because we were first. And that lady was so rude, it's just amazing. She not only taught her kids that other people don't matter but showed my kids that people are jerks. The guy tried to say he'll help us checkout even if there's someone in line. I said no, I'm not going to do that to someone just like it was done to us. The guy wasn't rude with his words but with his actions. I'm done with this place. One too many times there's been big issues here. read more

I have been frustrated with this store before but just accepted it. But not this time. I drove over to purchase a few cans of wet food for my cat. Because of the vet care they have completely remodeled the store. So I had no idea where the brand I usually purchase was. I was having trouble finding it and there were 2 huge carts full of product blocking a good portion of the cat food. I finally saw an associate and asked where the brand was and she pointed "there", right where these carts were. I'm not talking like shopping carts, I mean flatbed palate type carts. Nothing I could move and when I muttered, well how the "h3ll" am I supposed to access it. She completely ignored me and walked away. I am done with this store. I should have taken a picture of these carts. Oh and this was on a Saturday early afternoon!! Awful store. read more

If I could select a negative number I would. We heard good thing about the grooming. So we schedule an appointment for both our PUPPIES. I mention because of the event we encountered. First I gave the correct bread of puppies we have and their birthdates.... Grooming listed them as schnauzers. Wrong. We show you on time for the visit and the grooming clerk who did not have a name badge appeared to have an attitude and accused us of giving the in correct details about our puppies. Inappropriate. We attempted to explain about our Puppies and their behavior which should be important to a groomer. Laveen was the first to get taken in however a leash was placed as a noose around her neck. We expressed she is anxious the clerk did not appear to care. The clerk in fact began to raise her voice along with choking and dragging our puppy. Then she stated, "are you sure she has been to the groomers." With a raised voice. Next my husband attempted to express Laveen is nervous. The clerk raised her voice exclaiming she does not have to listen to him and that he needs to listen to her. Again she continued to choke and drag our puppy. My husband requested to give our puppy back and we would go elsewhere. What a horrific experience. This all has been reported to the management. read more

Took my dogs in for nails trims and took the receipt to the register and was charged for only 1 nail trim but 3 material fees. I didn't notice as the cashier didn't tell me my total and I used apple pay. The groomer checked my receipt because she said the new people are ringing things up wrong, she found the error. We went to the register to fix it and the cashier didn't understand what she did wrong ( I worked at Petco before...its not rocket science scanning barcodes) anyways the groomer called the manager over to help because she had other dogs to get to ( but stayed at the register the entire time even after the manager came over) . They tried to explain to the cashier what she did wrong and how to process a refund and the whole interaction between everyone was chaotic!! I asked them to just charge me for the service I didn't pay for the first time. That was obviously too complicated as the manager tried to argue with me and say he cant change grooming prices. Who asked you to is the question? I said just charge me the $20 she initially was supposed to. He then tried to explain it to me again that I was overcharged $1. Idc about the $1 refund. Why are you arguing with me over a $1 bro????? He had an attitude but maybe he should spend more of his energy on training employees properly instead of arguing with someone over a $1 I been said you can keep! Im sure there will be other transactions today that will make your registers short so youre welcome for the dollar. read more

gotta love that everytime I call in to talk to someone they hang up the phone on you. great customer service from this store, love not being able to get answers from you clinic. even though I went in and got my puppies shots, and they gave him food something that made him sick on the table. so just overall seems like this store needs to figure a few things out. cause now my dog is having serious problems and I can seem to get a single person on the phone. read more

Ive seen really good reviews from this petco compared to others and i was excited for me and my dog to have a well experience although i was beyond disappointed. I had an appointment for my dog at the groomers and the lady who was going to attend us automatically said, "absolutely not". All because my dog barked at her once. Of course he was going to bark, it's a defense mechanism. Just because my dog barked and was shaking she stated my dog has "an aggressive attitude" and knows he will bite her. Lady didn't even try to calm him or make him feel safe. I understand about your safety but it's also when doctors have a fussy child they are working with, they don't just decline them. No, they work with the child and the parent. Of course, I'll take my service else where, where they make my dog and i feel welcomed and safe. read more

I was paying all my stuff at 7:55 pm while other workers are rushing to go home she decided to take her time, explained me how my vital plan works and benefits I get even when it was pass 8:00 pm she waited until my app opened... not even rushing... thanks to her I ended understanding more about my apps and where my money goes.. without counting that she has a freaking awesome personality.. you MIGHT NOT LIKE THE STORE CUZ I NOTICES doesn't have a good reviews but if you have any questions anything!!! I don't understand the bad reviews I read. I couldn't help but to laugh and the extremely apparent attitude Ms. Mollie was throwing out. I mean who thinks you can get into a good groomer with no notice?? I have to say that poor planning on your part does not constitute and emergency on my end. Please, please drive far away to get your dog groomed... Id hate to run into you and your "tude" on a beautiful day. I have been bringing my dog to this store for years now. I like many others suffered a lot during the economic down turn as I worked in the finance industry. When I lost my job one of the groomers was grooming my dog at store cost and not taking a profit. I had no idea she was doing this, I just though she was giving me a great discount, until recently. She never said anything to me about her working for free ( I of course tipped her, but still, she took a huge cut in pay), her main concern was my dog. She wanted him to look good, but more importantly feel good and be healthy, to make sure his nails were clipped so he didn't suffer and to ensure his ears were "plucked" of fur to make sure he didn't get any ear infections amongst other things. Things have turned around of course and I am happily paying full price plus a minimum 30% tip at every visit. My groomer, Shaun, (sorry If I spelled your name wrong girl!!) is amazing. She absolutely LOVES all of the animals that come into her shop and treats them as if they are her own pets. The proof is in the pudding. In a recession she chose to work for pennies for me, and never said anything to me about it. Like I said, I just found out how much she financially sacrificed for my pet to make sure he was taken care of. Everyone in grooming knows my "lil one" by name and they genuinely seem happy to see him when we come in. He actually gets excited when we pull in to petco. When he sees Ms. Shaun he's more than happy to leave my side and go get some love from her. And of course they do a GREAT job. He's a mini Schnauzer and he always leaves looking like a show dog! Lastly, he has diabetes. And there is an associate there who is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the disease. She really loves animals and has given me so much helpful info that has helped me cope with his disease. She even went as far as to bring in her extra syringes (her baby passed away recently and he had diabetes) for my dog. These people really care about animals and their owners lol. So go visit them!! read more

Let me first mention, I do not have a problem with the organization Petco. I have been to several of the other Petco stores located in the Phoenix Area and they have been just fine. However Laveen Store is another story... Here is my experience: I placed a phone call to Petco to get my dog groomed. I was told there was availability today (Sunday). As the employee continued to ask me questions and I was placed on hold several times (several minutes each). Once I answered the last question the employee then states that he can fit me in on Wednesday. Of course this comes as a surprise since I asked if there was availability today and he had said yes. Therefore why would I wait until Wednesday? So the next thing out of my mouth is I really like to get him in today and you said you had availability. He asks me to hold on again and comes back with no explanation. I said this is ridiculous you either have availability or you don't. I call back and speak to the customer service person. I tell her the She offers to get my puppy in today and I said no I don't think so not after the scenario that took place. I don't trust them with my puppy. She says, (and let me quote this) "They are professional" HA!!!!!! Well I guess I am an idiot since the way I was treated was rude and I won't take a chance with my puppy. Here is my favorite line from the customer service person...then why are you calling? story and tell her why they lost my business. I explain she needs to know about how her employees are acting and maybe can do something about the situation. She states well he is new. I said.....OK but that doesn't explain why they did that. Well let's see, It is probably a good idea that you know what is going on in your store and get it fixed otherwise you will continue to lose good customers like myself. She said well you said I can't do anything for you. I said that's probably why you will be out of business and out of a job. There is only one pet store in Laveen and I prefer to drive up to Dysart or 75th Ave versus going back to your store. Don't you think you need to tell the District Manager or Store Manager so you can get it fixed. If you don't know about how your customers are being treated you can't fix it. Obviously this customer service person needs to go through training too. She must be new. LOL :) read more

I enjoy taking my dog to Petco to get groomed. My miniature schnauzer's groomer Phelicia is an awesome groomer. She listens to my needs and wants. She takes good care of my baby and is very pleasant to speak with. She's very attentive and asks if all looks good during pick up. If I want her to trim some more she gladly takes care of it right away. She is a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Phelicia for any grooming service. read more

I love Petco!! I go for their Saturday vaccines, dog food and grooming and honestly keep on going back with my two dogs. The staff is always helpful and polite. I have even received Petco customer rewards of discounts for grooming and free vaccines. My dogs love their whole heart food and I will forever keep coming to this location. It's clean, helpful and worth every penny. Groomers are awesome with my older dogs and if there is a problem or a accidental snip, they will let you know. read more

I called two weeks in advanced to get my dog a groom and bath. Of course two weeks had passed, I called to check what time is my dog's appointment. The grooming service told me, is this only for a bath? I told him, "No. It's a groom, bath and nail trim." The guy said, "we don't have a groomer. They no longer work here." Then why would I call to book an appointment. NO ONE told me that there was no groomer when I called two weeks ago! AND no one call a day ahead for my dog's booking! I only come here because it's close by home. My dog is long over due for a hair cut and bath. I'm never booking with this place again. read more

I have visited other Petcos in the Phoenix area and have always had a great experience. After taking my pets to get groomed at this location for a couple of times I was not satisfied and would tell the staff about what I was unhappy about. They would then do fix what they did wrong. The last time I called to schedule an appointment I was refused service due to the fact that I was never happy with the service. I was refused service due to the fact that I demand my money's worth. It seemed the heavy set woman was the one that wrote in my file not to service me anymore. Very bad experience. read more

I went here to get my maltipoo be taken care off. I should have learned from a previous experience on the same company @ a different location. When we came in i wanted to get her a groom and some toys. I was shocked when she got her haircut. It was not even close to what i call good looking. We do grooming with some of our own equipments with hwr but wanted to give her the special treatment. It didnt end up well.
