The response I received was very generic and didn't address my concerns at all. I'm not questioning whether policies exist I'm questioning what actually happened to my dogs during their grooming. This was the first time I've ever picked them up from any groomer and seen them visibly shaken. That's not normal. Instead of a real explanation, I was told to call a number. That doesn't build trust. Pet owners deserve transparency, especially when something feels off. I stand by my original review and do not recommend this location. Dog grooming. Frankie has gotten the whole treatment and the result was spectacular. More specifically I use these professionals for nail trimming and buffing. They are very assertive and skilled.They seem to have an intuitive sense of how to trim back the nail as far as possible without any damage. I took my dog to get groomed and she has gotten baths before at petco but not at this specific location. I took her in for the first time today and she was nervous and scared. I signed her up for any stylist but definitely won't do that again. Renee attended my dog but called me as soon as I got home to pick her up because my dog was "too anxious" and it was a busy day so she couldn't "deal with it" all of this was said in a rude tone I did not appreciate. A lot of stuff was on sale; there were 3 racks near the restrooms. There was so much I didn't have enough time to look at everything. I guess since this is the closest pet store to me, I popped in to get something for my kitten. The only thing that was a little strange was the cashier pushing the membership and asking me if I'm a newer customer? I guess I don't like sales/retail in that regard. Clean, organized space. However when searching for a specific dog food (Orijien) I couldn't find it (pet stores have many brands of dog food). I went to the store to support a local business even though they are a corporate chain. Unfortunately the manager was literally standing in front of the brand while talking to a sales rep of some sort. No offer to help after my challenge to find the correct type of food. I ended up walking out and going back to Amazon where it will be shipped around 5:00pm the same day. Hate to say it but Amazon is often less expensive and quick and efficient. I took my dog for a cut and bath appointment. First of all I noticed that they added 5.99$ service to my bill without asking me. I usually pay 61$ that day i paid 66.99$ and I checked my receipts to make sure that I wasn't mistaken. Second of all, the service includes an ears cleaning. If I could give a zero star I would. I am extremely disappointed in PetCo and how they have handled or better yet not handled this situation. As you can see below in my previous review I was so happy and my pup was happy. So, I keeping taking him there. Gabby is the one again to take care of him but this time it was so horrible. First we noticed she cut the hair off his tail even after telling her over and over not to. We apologized and said she had to because he went poop when they were washing him... Um mm okay? You couldn't wipe or rinse it off? She also said it wasn't a nervous poop. Now, I get him in the car and you can smell poop. He must have stepped in it because it is now on the seats in my car, my pant legs, my purse, and on my moms stuff. So, I grab him and look and there is poop and Gabby cut so close on his tail you just see skin and it is bright red. We get home and my mom calls and the manager gives us our money back and was very nice and said to come see him when we are in. I now buy clippers and shampoo and do that myself but I asked Petco if they could just clip his nails. At least I am able to watch the whole time. They said I will need to get vital care and you pay $20 a month for it. So, I said fine. I get it and take him in to get his nails clipped. Then the next time I call nobody answers so I leave a message. I get a call back from a girl who says I cannot take my dog there anymore that the last time he was there he was experiencing too much stress and all this other stuff. I WAS SHOCKED and upset. I called back to talk to the manager in grooming and she was the one that told me that was in the notes. I said the last time he was there he just had his nails clipped. She said oh yeah then it was the time before that. I don't know why they let you bring him in the last time. I said first of all why was I never told about him experiencing any stress and why after that did you guys push this vital care on me that I have been paying once a month if he his even allowed to go in? She was no help and had no answers. My mother and I now go into the store to talk to the head manager of the store and it is now someone new but she was in a meeting. My mother calls the store another time and is finally able to speak with her and let her know what was going on. She told us that they should have stopped immediately after my dog was showing signs of stress and call me. They didn't do either of those. Then she said she so sorry and she was going to look into what happened and give us a call back. That was in July and till this day we have never heard back. They wouldn't even help me cancel my vital care that they had me buy. I am so disappointed in Petco right now. read more

I really found myself loving this particular Petco when it was in it's old location. I was excited for it to move over to Imperial Hwy, this was much more accessible for me on my way through town. The store is new and clean, laid out nicely with items easy to find and seasonal items displayed proudly. However, I find they are out of my dog food quite often. I've noticed that the shelves have a lot of open spots where they either need to fill or they are not selling that particular item any more. Not sure what is going on, but it is frustrating. I knocked Petco down a star for this new location because the staff are so obviously lacking any personality or happiness now. It's almost humorous how disinterested they are in their customers. How do you not attempt to smile back when a friendly customer is talking to you or smiling at you??? Good move for location, but very, very bad move with every person staffed that I've run across in here. Plus, keep those shelves stocked! I may make the longer trip to a different store from now on. I had a terrible experience today with the groomers at Petco La Habra. I arrived for my 1:45 appt at 1:52 (my bad for being 7 min late but they do have a 10 min grace period). Renee, the groomer, who has worked with my Wheaton Terrier for the past year, said that since he's the last appt of the day, and I'm late, she couldn't give him a haircut. She also said that he gives her a hard time during haircuts because he moves a lot. She then got her supervisor out, who re-iterated the same thing. I said "if you don't have enough time to do a haircut on the last appt of the day, why didn't someone notify me in advance?" Supervisor: "you made the appt online so we don't have your phone number." Me: "You do have my phone number. You called me 2 days ago to confirm the appt." I left and called later to speak with Sherry, the store manager, and that was even worse customer service. It seems like it gets more and more unprofessional as you move up the management chain at this store; it's supposed to be the opposite. Sherry said "if a groomer doesn't feel comfortable or safe doing a pet, we don't require that they take them, and you were late on this appt and she was extremely stressed from a bulldog she had earlier and didn't feel that she could do the haircut. And you've been late in the past." So many excuses/reasons were coming out of her mouth. Me, trying to figure out what the ACTUAL issue is, I said "if I had arrived on time, would you have taken him?" Sherry: "umm, yeah, probably, I believe so." Me: "so, the issue is the 7 minutes late". Sherry: "No! The issues are all the things I'm explaining to you." Me: "so, if the issue is NOT the time, and the issue is that my dog is too difficult, I think that should have been communicated to me in advance, so that I can cancel the appt and not waste anyone's time, including my own." Then she sounded irritated and started repeating how Renee was stressed, I was late, blah, blah, blah, etc. Long story short.. it was a very bad experience and I don't want to deal with any of those people anymore. Life is too short. And there are a million other dog groomers out there. It seems like Renee was having a bad day. My opinion is that if she hadn't had that difficult bulldog, none of this would have happened. Nonetheless, I don't feel like my patronage is appreciated and I feel disrespected, so I've found a new groomer and I suggest that everyone do the same. I just bought a pack of wax worms two days ago. 19 are dead, one was already a moth and dead, and I found two cocoons. This was the best looking pack out of the few they had. Always a great experience here. It's a neighborhood sized Petco and smaller then some of the other's I've been to. Which I love because I can find everything I need effortlessly. Been coming here for years for dog food, grooming supplies and other essentials. Most recently, our family adopted an adult German Shepherd and we needed all new items to accommodate a bigger dog. I found everything I needed in under 15minutes with the greatest of ease. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. This is the last time I trust PETCO for a GROOMING specially this location. I arrived at 12:20pm for my 12:30pm appt for a nail trim/buffing, upon arriving we were notified that the groomers are behind by the TeamMember Spencer, completely understandable and she went ahead and notified grooming through the loud speaker. 15 minutes later we asked for the staff for the groomers again and finally someone came out, this female groomer went ahead to tell me I WAS LATE, I corrected the groomer and let her know I was on time but told they were behind and that I was also told she was notified of us waiting. The groomer took our dog and provided the service we wanted and she let us know he was biting her and gave her a rough time which is weird because this is the first time a groomer tells us this after we've been coming to PETCO for over a year for this service, I heard my dog crying more than the usual but he is a overdramatic dachshund but I checked his nails and visibly saw bleeding on three of his nails. This is completely unacceptable specially since the groomer didn't even bother saying anything to us I understand she was busy but she cut not one nail too short but 3 of them and his finger looks like it was buffed maybe if she payed attention more my dog wouldn't have tried to "bite" her. read more

Do not get your dog groomed at this location (La Habra Petco). If you do choose to use this facility do not use the groomer names TAMMY (or Tami). I spent 15-20 minutes describing the cut I would like for my dog. When I picked him up I almost started crying. His cut looked absolutely ridiculous and all of the hair on his ears was shaved off. When I called the store manager he offers to give me 25% off my next grooming appointment!!! Now is the time to laugh if I wasn't so upset about the disappointment about the job done on my dog. 5 star experience. We have had Marmelaide for 4 years. We picked her up when she was a tiny less than 1 inch long. It has been 4 years since then. She is a great looking fish about 3 inch long. We have had to move her to a bigger tanks twice. Because we had to travel for a while we wanted her a nice home. Fortunately, this Petco is kind enough to adopt her back. She is now back in an even bigger and better home with so many friends. We feel blessed that Marmelaide would have a bigger and better future. A super nice Store Manager, Spencer told me that she would make sure only customers with a big enough tank (100 gallon tank) would be allowed to bring Marmelaide home. Knowing this, we feel so happy knowing the next 25 years Mermelaide would in better hands. This type of assurance is what has helped us to decide to surrender Marmelaide back. This also gives us much more comfort in the future if we decide to pick up more fish, knowing that if circustances change and we are not able to take care of the fish, a loving home at Petco, with loving staff are always waiting there with wide open and loving arms.
