Friendly, convenient and my large dog was well taken care of! Taken in on a last minute appointment!

The staff here is incredibly kind and patient with my dog, which I truly appreciate. They do a fantastic job with the basics--shampooing, nail trimming, and tidying up the fur around the paws was spot on. However, the overall grooming style wasn't exactly what I had requested. While they are great for hygiene and maintenance, I'd recommend bringing very specific reference photos if you're looking for a particular cut. read more

Letter from owners: Hello Linda. As per last review you posted regarding our services on June 20, 2022, Hello! Kim's Grooming will no longer accept your dog for our services. After a long thought, we have decided on this after seeing your review on our communications. We apologize for not being fluent in English, and to resolve this issue, we came to a decision to no longer accept your dog. We believe you can find other groomers who speak better English than us here in America, and since it seems that our poor communication to be big issue to you, finding other places may be a lot more better for both sides. We are aware of your next appointment and we will be cancelling your next appointment. I hope that you will be able to find a groomer who can satisfy your needs. *** It's unfortunate that this business will not take responsibility for hurting my dog's paw and blame it on the heat when I make sure to alway take my dog out after 7pm when the ground is no longer hot especially during the summer. Its very upsetting and insulting. Ive seen plenty of other posts with the same complaint as mine. They have price gouged and I've been up charged plenty of times in less then a year of coming here because they considered my puppy full grown at 7 months, inflation, because my dog was tangled too much (but isn't that what grooming is?) Now they state she is still a puppy and her paw is going through growth. I am a barber of 10 years. I know when I see something wrong and there is skin irritation. Let's be honest please, this message isn't about communication. It's because Hello Kim Grooming has failed over and over to be honest, provided bad service, and decides to cut customers off because they are being called out for it. I will gladly take my business somewhere else. I found this online, please beware! Why does my dog keep licking herself after grooming? Clipper burn or razor rash is not uncommon. It usually manifests itself with red, raw skin, with or without bumps. It may cause the dog to lick or scratch the area. This ailment is caused by clipping the dog very closely. read more

We were referred here by a good friend of mine. We just adopted a family dog and was really knotted. He has separation anxiety BUT as soon as I walked in he was calm and the place was so clean! They are very nice and I felt really comfortable leaving him there. When we picked him up he looked like a completely different dog. I'm so happy for the haircut and pricewise they are affordable! I will definitely bring him again and highly recommend read more

I've never left a bad review on Yelp or on any other platform, but after today, I really have to do this. Today I received one of the most unprofessional voicemails I've ever gotten from a business. 7 months ago, I first brought my dog here after liking how they cut my dog's hair. I probably brought him here to be groomed like about 4-5 times if not more, and every time I picked him up, not one complaint or issue was brought up to me about my dog. Now, a week before my dog's grooming appointment, I receive a voicemail and text about refusing to take any more appointments for my dog because he "sits down" too much when being groomed. HE'S OLD. He's almost 14 years old. What do you expect him to do? It's your job to know how to handle dogs when being groomed. Not only that, but why wasn't the "issue" brought up to me after the first or second visit? And it's not like they didn't charge extra for my cocker spaniel's weight, because they did. It's not like they didn't know his age. You literally fill out a profile for your dog, detailing their age and everything. I'm just disappointed in the lack of communication and crappy treatment of a customer. If they only know how to handle Malteses or other small breeds, they should just say that. And honestly, if you have a medium sized dog, I would not recommend you bring him/her here. They're apparently not equipped for handling it. I guess this is what you get for going to a place where there are no professional groomers. At the end of the day, this place lost a loyal customer. read more

The description of the website says they "do all breeds, big and small" yet she tells me they don't do huskies. - With no explanation. Why not? Too hairy?? Too stubborn? Which is fine, its your business. But why not charge more for dogs that require more maintenance? Regardless of a husky or not. I have two huskies. One that is quiet and very easy to groom and not very hairy. The other is fluffier and louder. They are all different. Please don't deceive customers and describe your business to make it appear as providing a service that you do not. Also, someone posted a picture of a husky saying that it was groomed at this business. If this is a new policy you have where you discriminate against certain breeds, have at it. Its your business. But you should update your website. read more

Such a friendly environment. They actually care for your pet, it's not just a business to them. The gentleman was very thorough explaining pricing and their services. They did an excellent job and we will definitely back next month! My Chase is about 25 lbs, 8 months old and this was this very first time at groomer's. They made sure he was comfortable and he look very happy post grooming. They styled him with a bandana and gave him a treat to take home! Highly recommended! FYI, call in ahead. I called on Wednesday and I was not able to get an appointment until the following Monday. read more

I love my Dogs like they are my kids. I would not trust just anyone with my Dogs. Kim I trust! She has so much patients with my Dog. He has anxiety when I leave him and he often come in with tangled hair because he has bad allergies so he's always scratching. Kim is always up to the challenge. She spoils him with treats and sends him home with some. I allow Kim to do what's best for my dog because she is a absolute expert and I trust her. Her and her husband are so kind to me and my husband and she is so kind to our dogs. The place is always clean and the dogs always look safe and comfortable. She does get booked with appointments to book a week in advance. read more

Grooming style: 5 stars; did exactly as I had asked and I was very specific about what I asked. Transparency: 1 star; did not honestly reveal that they sliced his tail. I understand small cuts may easily happen as dogs move around, especially because I usually groom him myself every two weeks, but concealing such information calls to question various ethical concerns. Background: 2 y/o Mini Schnauzer, has extensive experience being groomed (has been groomed by this specific grooming salon previously as well), and I admit he's yappy whenever people come and go. Had my dog groomed yesterday and he came back acting a bit off (wouldn't bark at all once he got home for 10 hours and kept sitting/standing and staring off into space). I figured maybe something happened at the groomer's but my mom, who picked him up, said she EXPLICITLY asked how the session went and the groomer said he was whiny but all else was fine. I figured he might have had an off day at Kim's Grooming and waited to see before making any assumptions. I realized he was licking his tail often, but again gave the groomer the benefit of the doubt because I know his tushy tends to get itchy when the smaller bits of fur that is shaved off falls in that area. He continued this behavior throughout the day today and would occasionally whimper when laying down, so I looked at his butt/tail area and found UNDERNEATH his tail that a layer of skin had been SEVERED OFF. Knowing how (admittedly) dramatic he is and would have shrieked, there is no way the groomer didn't notice he had been cut. I just wish I had been informed so that I could tend his wound instead of watching him lick his butt/tail area thinking he just had a post-groom itch. Hoping my giving Kim's the benefit of the doubt doesn't lead to an infection on his tail. The lack of disclosure of his wound is what is upsetting and makes me question whether the cut is the only reason he looked off/traumatized and didn't bark at all. Really makes the ethics of this establishment questionable. Great attention to detail with directions and a cute cut, but I would rather go somewhere I know my groomer will openly tell me there was a little mishap, which is more than understandable. Sucks to have to watch my fur baby stop mid-step and lick his tail + whimper. read more

Hello Kim's Grooming - Presumably, a layer of skin was cut off. Result after 24+ hours of licking and me giving the groomer the benefit of the doubt. - Pet Groomers Near Me - La Mirada, California

It's frustrating how the owners complain every time I leave my dog with them. I'm a paying customer, so I don't understand why they complain about my dog being noisy and stubborn (that's a lack of their skill). Also, they seem to change the price every time I visit ($55 to $65 and now $70 within 8 months, lol). I wish they would pay more attention to details like the length or style of my dog's fur during grooming. Whenever I try to mention these points, the owners' expressions sour, and they don't even smile. I really don't recommend this place AT ALL. I will look for another grooming shop. read more

Too bad I really liked Claire...but the guy in the front I cannot take. Had an emergency and was not able to bring my dog on time so I called apologizing and if I can reschedule, he books me and then sends me a text message saying: This is Hello kims Grooming Next time you cancel, please contact us 1-2 days in advance. We only receive reservations, so there is a lot of damage. I replied I am so sorry but had an emergency and it was last minute and that is why I want to reschedule other day or if possible 1pm same day. He replied again - The reservation time is 11 p.m. and there is another dog at 1:00 p.m., so it can't be made. If you call 10:55 and set another time, you can't. I just canceled the appointment. I don't know how else to explain it to this guy, so inconsiderate. read more

Amazing dog groomer! I've been to so many different dog groomers, but this one really knows how to treat and take care of their dogs. Luna was so happy and safe here compared to other places. Her paws are so so clean. I had no idea her paws could look like this. Her teeth, ears, butt, and eye areas are also fantastic! Normally dog groomers don't do a great job there because they are more sensitive areas. But they did great! Also love the collar they sent her home with Price is the same as all groomers but with much better service! read more

I loved my first few visits to Hello Kim's! I have a 75 lb lab mix and was genuinely touched that they treated her so well the first few times. During our last visit it appeared that they were upset that I was there. When I picked my dog up she didn't look nice and clean like she usually does. They charged me much more than I had ever paid so I was really taken aback by the service and the lack of quality but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday I made a future appointment for my dog but received a call today from someone who was very unprofessional stating they couldn't find my chart but when they finally found it they said they changed their policy and no longer groom large dogs so they canceled our appointment. I guess they just deleted us without any warning. If you have a dog they will accept, I highly recommend Hello Kim's. They are skilled and were usually very kind. It's just disappointing to receive bad treatment because *they* failed to communicate their own policies to existing customers. Today I felt like an inconvenience instead of a loyal customer who sang their praises. But what are you gonna do. I truly wish them all the best and success in the future. read more

I took my puppy here for his first grooming with me. I wanted to find a place where he would not be traumatized going to the groomers and was so happy to see he was fine afterwards. His fur was soft, ears cleaned, nails trimmed nicely, and all appropriate areas trimmed for hygiene. The cut was also super cute. The owners are so friendly and gentle. I've moved into the neighborhood about 3 years ago....tried many various groomers in the neighborhood and no one was as good as the one I have been going for years in Koreatown. I've even tried mobile service...i had given up and just went to LA to get my dog groomed. I got tired of dropping her off and killing 3 to 4 hours to pick her up. I said this is going to be my last try and went to Hello Kim's. My impression of Hello Kims: Interior was very clean. Staff was very friendly and nice. Environment seemed like a happy dog place. Open interior let's you actually see the dogs being groomed They also carry some great merchandise for purchase as well. Everything passed. Just needed to verify their skills. They advised 3 hrs but I was able to pick up my Maltipoo within promised time frame. End result....extremely satisfied customer. Definitely going back. My friend also complimented my dogs cut and she will be going to Hello Kim too. My brother who rarely compliments her hair cut was like "whoa she got a nice cut. SO CUTE!" Thank you so much HELLO KIM's! PS book your appointments 1 week in advance. They get booked up real fast read more

They did an amazing job grooming my dogs Miki and Desi. I tried several groomers in the area and was never pleased to a point that I started grooming them myself. I decided to give this place a try when I saw the grand opening sign and was pleasantly surprised. My Morkie is mean and can be a biter so I was worried but they assured me she would be fine and she seemed calm when I picked her up. I used to bring my dog here. He was a regular. He's 11 years old.. the last time I brought him here, he came back with a huge cherry eye (if you look up a cherry eye, it happens with your dog's eye is hit with a lot of force) I understand grooming is stressful, and especially grooming my dog.. however.. under no circumstances should he have come back with a cherry eye. He is a small 11 year old Maltese. There is nothing he can do that could threaten your life to the point of smacking him so hard that a blood vessel in his eye comes out.. I was able to get him treated for it. I do not recommend people come here. (REPLY) my mom also previously stated that she heard one of the groomers yell and my dog. Telling him to STAY STILL. My mom then later told the owner and asked if u could not yell at my dog. I didn't bring it up when I picked him up bc I couldn't communicate with the person at the front desk. There was a minor language barrier as I didn't even understand most of the things he was saying. My mom is usually the one to interact with them but I had to go instead. read more

The first couple experiences were amazing. The owners were friendly and the price was reasonable. But since last couple years, they started to charge extra fees of $10 to detangle our poodle mix's fur. I've never seen the groomers charge extra fees for extra combing. The prices also went up almost by $20 and they keep telling us "you should come more often so that his fur can be taken better care of." And we've tried our best with flea care but they would always say like "I found fleas on his belly, you should give him some flea treatment." Everytime, single time we visit! More like scolding. I'm off to a different groomer with better service and price. read more
