I purchased my Maltese from Petian eight years ago, and they've been grooming her every three weeks since. Bella was a sweet and happy dog when I first got her, and she's even sweeter and happier today. It's clear that Jay sourced her from quality breeders and took good care of her before she came my way. Jay and his wife always do a fantastic job grooming her. She comes back calm and happy, and it's amazing how they manage to replicate the "Puppy Cut" so well each time. It's an absolutely adorable cut, and regardless of the condition I bring her in, she comes back to me pristine and perfectly groomed. They're definitely experts. (Also, I'm almost always late to the grooming appointments but Jay is so sweet and accommodating and has never turned me away. I will work on my tardiness but honestly this man is so amazing!) I also really like the selection of pet items that they keep in their store. I've purchased two potty pads/pans from them, and they've both held up very well. I also purchased three water/food bowls, three leashes, two collars, and two harnesses from them as well. The prices were all very low, and the items were great quality. I always ask Jay about his recommendations before purchasing too, since he definitely knows more than me! And if you still aren't convinced about this business's kindness and character, I have one more thing I'd like to mention. A few weeks before Christmas, I told Jay that I was moving to an apartment for college and would be taking Bella with me. He helped me pick out a few new bowls, a harness and leash, and another potty pad for her. I made a grooming appointment for her the day before I was set to take her to my new apartment. As I was leaving, Jay disappeared. I figured he had another pup he needed to check on, so I just took Bella to my car and prepared to head out. Just as I finished buckling her in, I saw Jay run outside with a beautiful little red harness in his hand. He gave it to me as a Christmas present for Bella and he said he hoped she would like her new home. I was so unbelievably touched. Jay and his wife don't just groom dogs; they see them as family. I've been bringing my boy Coco in to get grooming from Jay at Petian for the past 4-5 years. Coco is pretty finicky, and instead of battling with him at home (especially for his nails) we trust Jay and his team at Petian for all of Coco's grooming needs. Pretty recently Coco was skunked and it was bbaaaddddd!!! I called Jay in the morning and he was able to fit us in the same day. He did his magic and got the skunk out, at least 95% gone, to the point where I didn't notice, but he said that in a day or two the smell would be even less noticeable. We usually let Coco's hair grow out and then take him in for a summer cut. Jay's skills are top notch, the summer cut comes out consistently smooth, like SUPER SMOOTH, every time. I usually try to schedule appointments a day in advance and sometimes when I call he doesn't pick up, but I assume it's because he's busy taking good care of other fur babies. Jay always calls back, an appointment is made and Coco comes out clean, fresh, and most importantly happy! Came here today to get our dog Lexi groomed. Read all the reviews and was not too sure how it would go. This is the second time we came. First time was good but this time was even better. Lexi came out looking fresh and clean and was jumpy and happy as soon as I walked in to pick her up! She didn't seemed stressed at all. They cut her look exactly as my wife had requested. For $45.00 they do a cut, bath, and clean their ears and cut their nails. This place is Korean owned so granted they more and likely specialize in toy dogs and other breeds that Koreans like: Yorkie's, Shitzu's, Poodles, Pomeranians, Maltese, Maltipoo's, etc... When i first took my dog to this groomer, he came back with a swollen eye and rashes all over his body. I didn't think that these conditions were from the groomers but an allergic reaction from something else. I recently took my dog again to this groomer and when i picked him up, his left eye was completely shut. My dog seemed unusual and discomforted. When i asked the groomer about his eye, he said if it doesn't get better by tomorrow come back and he'll give us some antibiotics because antibiotics are expensive at the vet. I thought it was unusual for the groomers to have antibiotics on deck, which led me to think that this wasnt the first time this happened to pets that's been grooming there. read more

So i have been taking Chowder to Petsmart grooming for years and haven't really had any issues. So when he was ready for a groom I called them up and they were all booked. I was looking on yelp and came across Petian. Initially I was really nervous about taking him to a new place, but the reviews were reassuring. So I bring him to the little shop and the owner doesn't speak the best english so I had a hard time conveying what I wanted. Thank goodness I'm obsessed with taking pictures of my little man and had the perfect one on my phone. I showed him the short cut with a mohawk and he said no problem. He also told me that Chowder had some matts and he might have to cut his hair all the way down. I am very meticulous about his hair because we have had issues with matts in the past. I nervously left Chowder and was afraid I was going to get a call saying he was freaked out and had to come get him. (Which has happened in the past as well) About 4 hours went by and the owner called me to say Chowder was ready. He brought him out and I was blown away. This was the best hair cut Chowder ever received!! There weren't any straggly hairs, the mohawk was impeccable, all the way down to the point of it on his neck. Anything printed on a calendar counts. We were drawn to Petian for a variety of reasons which include but not limited to their: awards, website, pristine shop conditions, and of course the yelp reviews. The husband and wife combo were very informative, genuine and for the non-koreans out there, their English was fluent. Activists may condemn pet shops but one thing I have noticed about Petian in particular is they never carry their inventory (6-8 dogs max) for long periods of time. A month max. Most importantly, I have yet to hear a single complaint from the 4 individuals I know personally who purchased puppies here. Meaning, the owner's projection about adult weight and size were more or less spot on. Upon finalizing my purchase, the owner offered to bath and groom her. Maybe that's the norm but I was completely taken off guard. Then, he threw in her 3rd set of shots for free...It didn't end there. To top it off, he gave me a free bag of Royal Canine! At which point, the wife rolled up a newspaper and took a swing at her husband. My cue to leave. Kidding of course, but I was genuinely touched by the hospitality of the owners especially when I went in expecting nothing. Can't think of a better place to buy a life-long friend. I called the phone number Yelp provided on a Sunday and it went to their voicemail. I did not leave a message but the owner called me back right away and I was able to make an appointment for today. I was skeptical since my puppy didn't have much hair and his face was such a mess that I wasn't sure how a full grooming session would make him look. Nevertheless, I took my puppy in since he was in desperate need of some cleaning up around his face area. The results? My little boy is now a man! Lol. He looks so grown and dapper with his new haircut and smells wonderful. They clipped his nails too which is great since he won't be able to scratch his little brother when they play together anymore and I am too much of a wimp to cut his nails properly. The reason for the 3 stars is because the owner did not give me a good vibe. I get the language barrier but it doesn't require somebody to be fluent in English to be nice and welcoming towards their customers. Stumbled upon this place while looking for a groomer when I got my first girl, Kali. They had just moved into the neighborhood and since we hadn't found a groomer for Kali yet, I decided to take her there. The store is very well kept unlike many groomers that have hair flying everywhere! The store is owned and run by Jay and his wife. At first, I thought Jay was unfriendly, but I think its more about the fact that he's an introvert. He's not one to strike up a conversation first, but will always answer all questions to the best of his knowledge whenever asked. You can tell that he and his wife truly care about the pets that come in to their store. They've always been knowledgeable whenever I need a second opinion before taking my pets to the vet and such. When you walk in, you see the most adorable puppies! Since I had just gotten Kali, I promised I'd get one from there a couple years later once Kali was well settled in. Flash forward 6 years, finally made good on that promise and got another precious princess, Sage, from them. Jay and his wife were accomodating because although I purchased Sage the week before Memorial Day weekend, I asked if I could take her home a week later because I wanted the long weekend to get her adjusted properly and such. Even after the purchase, Jay has always been a text/call away regarding any questions I had about Sage. Whenever I take my girls out, people always comment on how cute they look and that they look like puppies (despite Kali now being 8 and Sage almost 2). They always make my babies look adorable (although they're always precious in my eyes of course XD). They also have tons of cute accessories, clothing, shampoos, bags, beds, etc. I always feel like I should hide my money from myself whenever I walk in there cause I feel I want to buy one of everything! Wow, 8 years later and they are still my favorite groomers. They have been accommodating when my schedule was crazy and it was hard for me to stop in. When I go pickup my dogs I have seen how gentle they are with the dogs they are working on. I haven't found anyone else to give a cute style to my shih tzus. I always like the cut better after a few days. My girl is getting old now and they advised us to be really careful brushing her out because in older dogs it can cause problems. Over the summer they were temporarily closed for about a week while the owner went to a groomer conference or convention to learn more and I think it's amazing that they stay up to date with knowledge. There is always plenty of parking. I think that now more than ever it's important to support small businesses. Aside from that, I never did like the inconsistent results from going to groomers at the large pet chains. We've tried other small groomers locally and didn't like the style so I continue to drive about 30min to get my babies all cleaned up read more

My experience was a while ago, but I feel the need to warn owners about this place. It was by far the worst grooming experience my dog and I have ever experienced and if I could give a zero I would. My dog ended up with red eyes, like the kind you get when you get choked, cut and the guy charged me extra for a difficult dog. No apology, just rude, condescending remarks. I wish I had pictures. Check out the other one star review with pictures. Petian doesn't reply to ones with proof. You'll notice in all the one star reviews about this place some common things - dog gets injured, rude overpriced groomer, a LONG condescending response to the one star review. Someone please tell me what is the point of this business writing me a 5 page letter on how it was ultimately my fault or my dog's fault they got injured at your salon? Why not just apologize and try to get the business back? Because my dog didn't go in looking bruised up or scared out of their mind. Who did that to them? I can't wait for the business to write me a long response to this review. Because that shows how defensive they get Bc they never want to own up to what they did wrong. Why get defensive if you did nothing wrong? Why nitpick at someone's traumatizing experience and try to rationalize it in a way that it's not the groomer's fault? Why not try to improve and be a better business and show some sympathy to people who trusted you with their furry best friends? Because they don't care about your baby, they care about money. If you have a dog that doesn't move or breathe when getting groomed sure try this place out at your own risk. But if you love your dog like your kid, seriously, please go elsewhere. AHHH what can I say.. I found this place through yelp because of all their good reviews. And I have to say.. the reviews are right! (the good ones at least) and here is another one to add to their list! I was in search of a lil baby to bring home and forever love. SO one night.. I search pet stores and ta- daaah! Petian comes up. Now, before anyone starts saying "its better to adopt" "don't buy from puppy store" and all that negative stuff.. I want you to know, I considered adopting, & when you do not have your own place and are still living at home with parents... its alot harder than it seems and I am going to leave it at that. (look into adopting & you will know what I mean with all the requirements and guidelines). Maybe when I have my own place later on, then I will adopt. But anyway, I looked on Petian's website & they only had 6 puppies listed. 5 maltese puppies and one yorkie. Petian only carries teacup & toy size pups. But I read through reviews that Jay (the owner) does not have more than 5-6 puppies at a time so that these lil cuties have room for them-self and are more comfortable also so that they can care for them more. (you can really tell they love their pups by the way they take care of them.. when I brought Toby home, right before we left both Jay and his wife? (i think..) gave him lots of hugs and kisses, it was so sweet!) So I browsed his list of available puppies and one caught my eye. He was the last on the list and the oldest as well. I immediately called to make an appointment to meet him. Jay picked up right away and an hour later, I was at his store meeting what could be (& now is) my little baby boy. The store itself, is very clean, all of the puppies personal area were very clean and well kept. They all looked super adorable and healthy. I wish I could just take them all home! Jay and his son was there to help me and explain any questions I had. They both knew exactly what they were talking about. Toby, my new baby boy, was very playful, sweet and just perfect. Jay showed me all his health records and even showed me his PUREBRED paperwork. To those who says he gets puppies from puppy mills.. that is not true. I have the paperwork to prove it. Jay's friend is the breeder and has all the paperwork to go with each pup. Alot of times you go to places and says the pup you are looking at are purebred but have to proof or paperwork to go with it. Jay has all that ready in hand. He is also very honest about each pups health and visits. He wasn't hesitant to show me different pup records so I could get a better understanding. Luckily my Toby was healthy and had no problems! It's been 3 days since I brought Toby home now and everything is going well. The first night, like Jay warned us.. its going to be a little hard because of a new environment.. and it was.. but after day two.. his potty training is on track, he is doing his business outside and he is very easy to take care of! I didn't think it was going to be that easy! lol There are also lots of good reviews on Jay's grooming services.. even though Petian is quite a drive for me.. To be clear, this is a review of the grooming services at Petian. I have only had my dog for six months and have taken her to two grooming shops: first to the Petian in Fullerton and second to Blue Ribbon in Tustin. After bringing my dog home from Blue Ribbon, I regretted not taking her back to Petian. I found Petian on Yelp and took my dog there because of all the reviews that claim they're the best. Well, they definitely charge like they're the best! My dog is 25 lbs and the works plus a summer shave set me back $65, before tip. The other place only cost $45 pre-tip but her fur began to grow back unevenly within 10 days after the cut. When I took my dog to Petian, her fur looked great for months. She was nice, fluffy, and clean. Petian is pretty strict with their schedule, so you'll need to make an appointment in advance. Not sure where I'll be going for the third cut. I want to give my local shop another shot since it's within walking distance but I feel like I'll just end up regretting it. 4 stars instead of 5 simply because they cost so much more. read more

The owner sounds grumpy on the phone, a little less grumpy in person but thats because he's old school. If you want your ego stroked for bringing your dog here, then this might not be the place for you. It's rare that Yelp is correct about a business with a smaller review counts but I'm lucky to have found this place. I've brought my dog here for 5 years and everytime he looks great. How great does my dog look? So great that I travel 20 miles each way to this place or I take appointments on a weekday at some random afternoon because they're always busy. I once made the mistake of taking my dog to a groomer closer to home in Irvine, needless to say I won't be experimenting with groomers again. While the gentleman is old school, he's also honest and kind. Once, I was delayed in picking my dog up after grooming. When I walked in, the owner sternly told me that I need to pick him up on time, because my dog yapped a lot. Was I butt-hurt? No, because I know my dog and he yaps. I apologized and was on my way. Another time my dog had an ear infection I didn't know about. The owner gave me a heads up as well as putting in some the infected ear.
