There are spots where he shaved closer than others (see pics). I would like Petco to offer some compensation, but I know I could only expect the passive, "Thanks for letting us know..." blurb. Absolutely the worse place to get your dog groomed. My last visit cost me an extra 250.00 because my dog came home infested with fleas! He's never had them before. I had an amazing experience at their vetco clinic inside petco. They gave my puppy vaccines and sent us home with some flea tick and heart worm medication. Definitely will be back. I even called to try to get the vets personal practice because they were so sweet with my dog and helpful read more

I was disappointed this location can't retain good groomers, every time I was setting an appointment my dog was scheduled with a brand new groomer. Management seems to not care anymore and is willing to decline business for big dogs. I can't trust my dog to have a comfortable grooming experience here, so we will not be coming back. read more

My mini poodle really needed combing out (lots of matting) and always requires lots of TLC. They said he was too matted to be brushed (which has NEVER) happened and gave him an uneven shave where parts of his skin show through. The groomer also nicked a mole on his back, which bled lightly but will heal. Hopefully, our new groomer will be more observant. Lazy, and you can tell they're were "shortcuts" in the work. We brought our other pup, a Cairn Terrier in at the time. Usually, he just needs a trim. He usually comes home with properly trimmed hair, never shaved. This time? SHAVED, including his face and tail, which has NEVER happened. I AM SO ANGRY. We will NEVER be taking our dogs there again (and we've got another one whose appointment WILL BE CANCELED IMMEDIATELY). Kind of a 50/50 experience, hence the three-star review. What I mean is, people who work on the floor seem to be polite and courteous, even friendly. But the people behind the cash register seem miserable, if not aggressive and angry. I've literally had a few cashiers at this store glare at me -- for what reason, I do not know. (Glaring at a paying customer is probably not a good business model.) And since the shopping experience always ends with the cashier, I've decided to forgo this location and go elsewhere. Called yesterday. Come in after 3:00 to get my dogs nails clipped. Never said you need to bring the rabies showing it was currant Guy in a very rude way say did you bring your Rabies shot certification with you. I was like huh ? Said nope can't do I didn't know I had to bring it.. Went back in after I thought about it I had done shots there for Sadie Mae . Nice girl check and they had done shots but not the rabies . Guy at the start never said anything but you need a rabies shots. Nothing about the other ones we paid for. They could have asked if they could call my vet to verify it. That part never crossed their minds. My 7y.o German Shepherd does not going in to do the shots. She is a service dog seeing me taken away by paramedics , fireman , and police when I have seizures. If we're just talking about having a place to get all of your pet supplies, where you can actually take some of your pets inside the store, I'd probably give this a higher rating. But we're not. Petco is a place where you can also go to buy live pets and I have a real problem with the conditions in which these animals are kept. The fish are an overcrowded tanks far above the recommended population for the Bio load creates. At one location, Lancaster, I even saw a pile of dead goldfish inside one of the tanks. I get it, fish die and it's not always their fault. I have bought fish from there, center.street) that passed away within a week from a fungus. When I went in, and told them about it at first they didn't want to refund me until I mentioned that it died with a white fungus and then the aquatic center personnel had a knowing look. Later admitting that many of the bettas that were there had the same one. I chose not to get another fish from there and I went to the Keizer location instead where the aquatic manager said the same thing was happening with theirs yet they were still being sold. I recently went in to the Kaiser location to look at bearded dragons. I was devastated to see that there were too many in each small tank, far smaller than the recommended tank size. there was a sandlike substrate which is known to cause impaction in bearded dragons and the humidity was too high and the temperature far too low for the species. It was really difficult because I know the special needs they have for UVB and for heat and without meeting these standards they are at risk for metabolic bone disorders. this is not only uncomfortable for the animal but it adds an additional expense to the adopter. it breaks my heart that a place that touts itself as a leader in pets and pet supplies would encourage these sorts of conditions. I know it's not the staff's fault and that they can only do what they're told but corporate should have higher standards for animal welfare. The care sheet on many of these animals is incorrect, recommending enclosure sizes that are far too small. A goldfish should not live in a bowl. A betta needs more than a 2-gallon tank let alone the tiny containers they store them in. I understand there are limits to how they can store their animals with having so many, but if you can't do it correctly you shouldn't have as many. I think everyone would be understanding if they had fewer animals and housed them appropriately. This would also set an example for the types of enclosures and environments that these animals need so that they aren't adopted and placed in the exact same situations. I'm pretty devastated. When it comes to a pet supply store it has everything you need, But I certainly can't justify adopting an animal from them knowing how they'll treat the next one that occupies the cage. read more

I was trying to give management an opportunity to speak with me before posting this review, but despite three requests for a store or grooming manager to contact me, I have yet to be contacted. I had the most horrible grooming experience at the Keizer Petco. After injuring my dog with an obvious clipper mishap, they contacted me to report I would have to pick my dog up as "he has an open wound and we cannot complete his grooming." I arrived quite concerned about my dog, until I saw him and his "open wound." It was fresh and clearly a clipper injury, the "professional" whom I trusted to groom my dog was no where to be seen, and another groomer went on to say "the injury was found while she was drying him." My poor dog was not only injured, his coat was butchered and he looks horrible. I am still in shock that my dog was injured and looks horrible. I asked to speak to a manager and was snapped at by the groomer, mind you I was very upset, this is after all, my fur family. I them called the store to get no support from the assistant Mananger. I requested a manager contact me and as of this evening, have heard nothing. Oh, they did say that the hack job and injury to my dogs leg was free of charge. Really?! I would have reacted all together differently had the groomer been accountable and honest. This experienced was absolutely unacceptable. I plan to contact the corporate office tomorrow. We took in our 6 yo Dachshund in for grooming. He is long haired and very active. He was in desperate need of some TLC. Their process was very straightforward and their staff super helpful and patient. Bailey did his grooming and she did AMAZING! We will definitely be going back and could not tell you how much we appreciated how gentle she was with our boy. She did a custom cut on him and she knocked it out of the park. I was optimistic to give a better rating based on the first call I made but when following up to make sure they still had the food I requested set aside before I made the trip they were beyond unhelpful. They were rude, no customer service and no care at all to find said food. Since I had already planned to stop by I made the trip and when I went in to find and purchase the food the same clerk from the phone call, was flippant and completely disregarded me. If it were for the immediate need and every other store not having the food I needed (Denali Dinner cans) I would never have come here. The one star is only because I didn't have to pay for the haircut. Apparently the groomer thought I said to shave my pet.. I asked for them to shape his face. While they were apologetic they refused to admit they butchered my dog. I have no idea who would think this is a good cut. I would have been less pissed off of his cut was even, it was so choppy and their excuse was that he didn't get a bath and that's how it looks. Normally I don't feel right writing reviews for a place where I haven't actually gotten service, but that's kinda the point - I was turned away without receiving service. We just adopted a 35-lb. Basset hound mix from the pound, bought his first bag of food from Petco and got a booklet with coupons for new dog owners. I took him in to redeem a coupon for a free nail trim, as I've never cut a dog's nails before, much less taken one to a groomer. The girl taking my information asks what we're feeding him, raises an eyebrow when I tell her the brand of dog food we now use, and then proceeds to tell me, albeit politely, why she personally doesn't like that brand. Doesn't really seem like that's any of her business, nor does it have anything to do with a nail trim. She then proceeds to recommend several brands of dog food sold by Petco, and I told her that's funny because we bought one of those brands from Petco when we brought him home from the pound, and it made him gassy and gave him loose stool. This girl sits with my dog for a minute or two, but he's skittish and backs away when she tries to put a lead on him (not sure why he needed a lead as I had him on leash the whole time). She passes him off to another girl, who sits with him for about five minutes. Nothing seemed to be happening, and my dog was still skittish, so I said I'd never been to a groomer before, wasn't sure what procedure was, and I offered to pick him up and take him back and hold him for her. This girl says they have to do a 7-point inspection first before they trim his nails (where am I - Petco or Valvoline?) and if he's that scared (again, after maybe 10 minutes by this point) they won't do the inspection or trim his nails. She said to bring him back after he was more socialized and when they weren't so busy. Guess I'm finding a different groomer or doing the work myself. My bf and I went in tonight to buy 1 fish! There was one employee in the back putting cat food away. I know this because I used their restroom and it's in the back by the kitty food section, anyway then when I was done I asked the cashier up front if we could have someone come help us at the fish section. She asked if we had a tank set up and water running. My bf and I said yes. She said ok, and that she'd call someone over. 15 mins later...nothing. I look at the registers and the cashier was busy mopping. Another employee comes out to join her and begins to vacuum. While we stand around like idiots. There was one lady and her kid there besides us. That's how long we were waiting...I began to study our surroundings. We eventually walked out. This was @ 5:19pm when we walked out. I can see why this store has a 2 and a half star review. Awful customer service. Very expensive items I can find at Petsmart AND Petsmart price matches, Petco does not. The few times I've been there the store was mostly empty. My dog was sick and I needed a thermometer to check his temp. They sell thermometers there with no disposable covers, nor any lube. I guess I am just supposed to put the thermometer in my dog's behind completely dry and have no cover on it. *eyeroll*. I went to the register and asked about this and the man at the front called someone to assist me, he said someone would meet me at the aisle. No one ever showed up, I stood there for 10 minutes. The store was not busy, hardly any customers there. So I decide to check out. My dog was barking at another dog and the dog trainer of the store was nearby and came up to us. I've never had an issue at Keizer Petco! Yes, Petco prices are high but most pet stores are! I've always had friendly service there also. I've had my Pomeranian groomed there and Tabby did a wonderful job on Cassie, although again grooming is quite expensive. I only have her groomed on special occasions because of the price. They have the variety covered -- and, this is the first chain pet / pet-care store where I've seen so many of the brands we commonly buy -- which is good to know. But you can get pretty much all the higher-end dog foods and supplies online for a lot less and with free shipping. And even more choices. It's not like this is some little mom-and-pop pet store that really contributes to the local economy in a big way and so deserves our small purchases to keep the local running smoothly. So why would I pay them this much more for the same goods? They were having an obedience class while we were there -- and that seems like a good service/product to offer. Go for that. She was nice and called someone to the tanks. I stood there at the tanks for 15 mins no one showed up. There was literally no one helping people on the floor. The fish tanks were nasty, I felt bad for the fish. A little window clearer on the out side of the tanks would have went a long way. After 20mins of waiting I walked out. While this store is nearby, I have a difficult time giving PetCo at this location, more than 2 stars. The manager does not stand behind their return policy when the product does not stand up to the expectation! In other words, he uses every excuse as to why he can't .Bottom line, if you want a refund, you may as well forget it!!! Will never patronize PetCo in Keizer Station again thanks to a very "one way " manager. He will miss the money we've spent there. Went here for a betta fish a couple years ago and ended up rescuing a beautiful poor little fish that barely had enough water in his cup for his big fins. He was sitting sideways. Long story short, I had him for almost two years until he eventually did die. Bettas are really pretty fish and when properly cared for, can live for quite some time. Unfortunately, PetCo doesn't seem to get that because ALL of their fish, but especially the bettas, are in awful living conditions. Both Salem locations are the same way, but Keizer Station takes the cake for being the worst out of the two. I don't even think anyone works in the fish department. The tanks are filthy, dead fish and all. The bettas are even sometimes dead or halfway there. Its sad to see poor treatment on the most helpless animals. I'm still in the market for a new fish, but I want a healthy one and one that is with other healthy fish and in good living conditions. read more

I was told on many items they don't put the price on the each rack and if I didn't like it to call corporate office. I asked mngr if she could pass it on to the corp office and she said no I had to do it. I stated isn't that your job and she yelled I don't like the way your get out and never come back so I called her a bitch and left while she was still screaming at me on the way out.
