I scheduled my dog to have her shots there and was surprised how run down this store is now. The floor hasn't been deep cleaned in a very long time. The service was subpar also, the vet didn't perform the wellness check that I paid for. She just gave her her shots, when I mentioned I thought she was supposed to be checked first, a quick listen to her heart was performed. Her return visit was done at another location that provided good service in a clean environment. read more

the associates here do not care about the animals and they're all kept in horrible condition. none of them are remotely helpful and generally rude, especially the associates that have been there longer. The store is rarely restocked in the fish section. Even relative to the normal petco experience this place is garbage. read more

There was 2 girls at the register and honestly they were just so rude. i had to wait 5m to get checked out because they were just talking then another guy assisted me at checkout when i got annoyed. when i left the store they were also on break so when i went into my car i noticed i might've dropped something so i roll my window down and one of the girls said "who tf is that" and i said what. moral of the story DONT SHOP HERE. they need better employees instead on them sitting on there ass. terrible customer service read more

Didn't acknowledge me while I was paying... just gave me my receipt and didn't even say goodbye or even greet me. Very rude. Wouldn't recommend coming here for the best customer service when paying. Now that I we own fish in my house I have to search for the closest Petco to me and this was the winner. I live close by 3 but this is the shortest distance with traffic. And guess what??? It's right next taco a ColdStone. Definitely a plus for a foodie like me. Not as attentive as the location in Long Beach but who could top the woman over there? They would have to clone her and put her in all locations! Anyway there were 3 employees 2 young ladies and a young man. One of the young women helped us out with questions on fish; and they other rung us up when her buddy was taking a bit or time at the register. The store could use some organizing but maybe they just got a shipment or something. Customer restroom was clean. I'll be a regular now so let's see how things go. read more

Came into Petco to get some things for my dogs and I was extremely disappointed with the customer service they were two girls behind the counter no one came up to greet me or ask me if I needed help when I asked if someone could help me from behind the counter they both shouted what can I do for you I then said I don't want to yell can someone come here? A girl came over and said what can I do for you I thought it was very rude and I felt uncomfortable shopping there I asked her for an item and the first thing she did was say how bad the pet Co. brand was and a Nother brand was better I found that to be really odd and not very loyal to the store that was paying her! They don't seem to care about the place at all! Really Bad Customer Service!! So unless you know exactly what you want or you are going to go in there and shop alone and not need help I would go to a different Petco!!! read more

Very convienant location for me. I don't interact with the staff much but on the occassion I need to, everyone I've dealt with were very nice and helpful. I shop there for cats and fish and they always have everything I would need. The actual fish section is somewhat small but so is this store. They have a free parking lot right next to the store. There are a decent amount of parking spaces but it's tight. Be careful parking and backing out. I don't use it but they have a dog washing station here too. Occasionally they will have stuff going on in the back of the store for dogs. Once in awhile they will offer cat services here too(neutering, shots, etc). read more

I like going here. However, today was a bit different. The Indian lady with the glasses at the register was very annoying to me. My dog was here to get shots and peed on the floor. She told me "Your going to have to clean that up"! She kept telling me repeatedly to clean it up. I told her repeatedly that i will. Couldn't she have the decently to wait until I calm my dog down!? My dog was scared cause he knew he was getting shots. I have no problem cleaning up after my dog. I have been here quite a few times as well as other petco's and never have anyone told other owners to clean up a bit of pee or anything after the dogs repeatedly. The way this Indian lady kept nagging me was very unprofessional and rude! Maybe she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or have men or women issues. Either way she shouldn't bring it to work. Had a very bad experience at Petco I am set up an appointment to get my cats their shots they're both 7 months old a boy and a girl the boy is very frightened very scared he's not used to being outside or around people and the girl complained that I had two cats and a carrier that's against the law I didn't know that you know it's a goddamn crime and she can't weigh them together she has to wait one of them by themselves but my cat needs another carrier cuz God forbid if she did her job and took the cat out of the carrier then maybe she could do her job the right way but unfortunately she couldn't then she opens the carrier so my cat runs out cuz he's scared now we can't get the cat we got three people trying to get the cat the cat is not violent she's very skin and frightened so the guy comes up to me and tells me all you want to buy a carrier cuz it's against the law to have two cats and a carry I said no I don't want to buy a carry and I'm not going to buy a carrier I came to get to get shots not to buy a carrier next thing I know the cat's underneath the bookcase or whatever the hell it was and then they're trying to get the cat out the cat's in the corner and she's not violent she's just scared there was no place for her to go the guy tells me that if he can't get the cat he's calling the ASPCA on me first cuz I don't have two carriers I have one and second because my cat they can't catch him meanwhile they got the door open the lady is looking at animals that are right near the door I mean I don't understand Petco how's these incompetent people get a job where did they get these people from the homeless shelters because they don't know what the hell they're doing if you were Pet People you would have just did your job way the cat and that would have been it no it was a whole big process because like I said is incompetent people you got kids weighing the pet scene that don't even know how to pick up a cat you got old people trying to sell you a carrier cuz he thinks some you know he's going to get extra money from me oh he's going to call the ASPCA on me cuz I got two cats and a carry case I never heard of such incompetent shit all due respect saying how how awful that was and Howard Beach Petco it is the worst one I've ever been to I knew I shouldn't have went I should have went to the one that was far away I would have had no problem but unfortunately I got a terabyte by cat right now scared to do anything and he was like devastated and in shocked what they did to him and then they just picked him up and threw him in the carry case and didn't even care I just took my carry case and I said I don't need this and I walked out of the store how would Beach Petco is the worst Petco I've ever been to In My Life I should have known better cuz everything in Howard Beach is a nightmare if you have to go to a Petco go to any Petco except for the one in Howard Beach incompetent people work there thank you very much incompetent people and Howard Beach Petco and you can call the ASPCA on me you can call the Board of Health you can call the police department I did not nothing wrong you people are incompetent and sick in the head going to call the ASPCA on me because I had two cats and a carry case really if I'm so incompetent and such not a good person I wouldn't be taking my cats to get shots in the first place Petco and Howard Beach get a life get a job and get real people to work in a real place instead of scaring your animals to death cuz those are respect I could take you to court and call the ASPCA on you for not handling the pets the right way and have people working for you that don't know what the hell they're doing read more

This petco is okay. When they run out of things they tend not to order it back readily so I end up having to travel to other petco locations which kind of defeats the point. I have a reptile and they seem pretty lackadaisical about the stock for those products. read more

Usually would give this store a 2 but the staff member Robin helped my and my husband beyond belief. Customer service there's days is absolutely horrible, but Robin was kind, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to assist us. Really great place and clean store. Came in with my friend to purchase Goldfish at a decent price. Associates were helpful and parking is located at the left of the store. Never going back to this petco. I've spent hundreds of dollars here on dog training, hundreds more on food and toys for my 18 month old pup, and today after going to the park and expecting to be able to use the dog baths as I have dozens of times previously they actually refused to let me use the dog bath. The reason you may ask!!! Well apparently when a dog trainer left they shredded all the paperwork including rabies paperwork for all customers that had used that trainer, so they don't have my paperwork on file anymore, there fault not mine, and even though my dog has fresh rabies tags on her collar they said that wasnt good enough. For anyone from petco reading, you should know there are other places for food and baths and to spend my money. Zero stars for the new management. read more

They are selling expired dog food. Beware. I was there yesterday to get my dog food. There was 1 bag of my brand left. When I check the expiration date it have expired since March. This has been sitting on the shelf more than 6 months after it expired. This is unacceptable. Who knows how many bags were sold ok this expired dog food. read more

This place is convenient for neigborhood folks plus I always seem to find the toys my cats like here. The staff are friendly enough and helpful enough - although not spectacurarly so. The lines can be crazy long too - especially on weekends. They usually also have local rescue and adoption groups here on weekends - so that is nice they do that for the animals and the community. Even though they may be on the small side compared to a lot of other Petco's I have been to - they still have a decent selection. Definitely worth it - especially if you are local. read more

I entered my dog who had social issues to their dog training and their trainer Jen is a god send. I knew the first session she was a great trainer because my dog fell in love with her which is rare for strangers. Jen knows exactly what she's doing and works with you on your time and patience. I met a wonderful person Deisy The dog food that we wanted was unavailable at that location in the large bag Deisy went and looked throughout the building and did not find any she found some smaller bags and was able to help us she was so kind to take the time out to help us and get the food that we wanted for our dogs and I thought that was very nice I was very happy and I love going to the Petco store in how Howard beach to get food for our dogs and other supplies that we might need. Hate this place.i wish i didn't have to give any stars. Went here after getting my pit bull who was alrdy 6 months old so she was pretty big. I went out of my way to walk all the way there with her which is over a 2.5 mile walk. when I got there i asked to speak to a trainer and if I can bring her in. they said yes and i met with a trainer, he didn't come near her, saying she would be too difficult to train and would interrupt his classes and if i wanted any classes it would have to be private which would have been fine if he didn't judge her within the first few minutes of meeting her. while we were talking some girls with a tiny yorkie puppie came up looking for a harness her pup couldn't get out of, he had no problems petting their dog, getting his attention afterwards was nearly impossible. Oh and speaking of harnesses he said we shouldn't have my dog on a harness because the spike collar that we initially got her with would "keep her in check". anyways once he turned us down i went to the register to ask to speak to anyone about pet insurance, i waited for over a half an hour and decided to just leave. No one offered any help, none of the employees wanted to come near us. I know about discrimination when owning a pit, but i thought in a place of all types of animals we'd get the help i was looking for. read more

Back in April, I was given a rescue dog and went to this petco for the vet co services. The vets were nice and the whole waiting and everything took about 1.5hours which isn't bad considering the amount of people. A few weeks later I started the dog training with Jen and she is the absolute best! She is so knowledgeable and can really help pet owners with their concerns. It was very obvious that Jen cared about the animals and made my anxious little fur ball feel great. He would even get excited when he heard her voice! I would recommend anyone thinking about dog training to see Jen because she is amazing. If she ever leaves and becomes a private dog trainer I'd definitely hire her ! Also the over all customer service is amazing! The staff are all very nice and willing to help in any way that they can. With the exception of one staff member who I think is the new manager, she hovers a lot and is always up selling training packages, the rest of the staff is just amazing and love animals.
