I have my dog's nails done here. No, not a pedicure. But the nice folks in the grooming department do the grind down nail treatment for him. They are very sweet with him. I don't like them to take him to the back to hold him while we wait his turn. You don't have to let your pet out of your sight. I don't. I don't want him in a kennel with other dogs. Even though they do require shot records to make an appointment. I will not let him stay there without me. Not because I am worried. But he's my baby and I don't know them and he doesn't either My only complaint us they tend to have staff that takes a LOT of breaks and I gave had to wait 15+ minutes for them to return for my appointment. Still they get the job done for $15. This is a Petco. Plain and simple. We get our dog and cat food here. I get refills of their in store cat litter buckets. A bargain for the big refill at about $11. Lots of toys, treats and all the stuff you need. Buy a dog bed, a kitty condo or some white mice or ferret food. Maybe a parakeet or some fighting fish. Let me preface this by saying I am pretty lenient in my expectation of customer service. I realize that its pretty much a nostalgic memory now days. But this location takes it to a new level. This entire store needs to watch that cheesy customer service video they show all retail employees during orientation. These people are flat out rude and unhelpful. I've had 2 different employees tell me "I don't know" on 2 different occasions. Really?! And don't even think of asking for a suggestion or a question about a product. Forget about it. When I arrived,Tasha was groomed, tow nails done, complimentary pink bandana and 2 little matching bows! GABY WENT THAT EXTRA MILE, I'M SO PLEASED. Awful experience. Attempted to return guinea pig that died within 3 weeks of purchase within 30 days that I had purchased for my daughter in Pasadena on way back from event. Store manager, Ali, refused return stating was "their policy" not to accept returns of small animals and I'd have to take back to other store because it would "mess up their inventory." Could not show where policy was on receipt. 888-824-7257 customer service had me on line for 45 minutes and was unable to help, suggested I go back to Pasadena store or to this location to talk to other manager (which Ali lied about being the only manager present to me). Ali had also given customer service a different reason why return refused stating they had no room in freezer for keeping and disposing of guinea pig. I'm disappointed enough that we had to have a conversation with my four year old today about her dead pet, I am disgusted that I am having to do a charge back on a credit card because a store manager invented a policy to refuse a return and then their customer service number did nothing. Service at Petsmart is much better, and the guinea pig we purchased from them the same day is healthy and doing fine--just purchased the replacement from Petsmart today as well. Picked up a fish from here today. The sales lady was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. The store had a little bit of a funky smell to it... but what do you expect from a pet store? So far the fish is still alive. But it's only been a few hours... At least they have a 14 day return policy if it kicks it before then! read more

I've been going to this location since I got my puppy. I must say that they do have a large variety of pet needs. The only downfalls with this location are that they are not always stocked up on pet cleaning supplies. I have been back at this location a couple of times now to get a deodorizer for the carpet and floors and they still have yet to bring it back. They are also super expensive. It's like the Whole Foods of pet needs! Lol I find the exact same items at Walmart target and H-E-B for quite cheaper. Besides those two reasons they do have a wide variety of pet needs and some that you may not be able to find at your department stores. read more

I'm not sure what's going on lately but this store has been nothing but trouble. I've bought my dog in for a walk in 3 times this week and there's been no grooming each and every time. I've even confirmed the day before and still no groomer. They told me I could use any other location since my info follows us to any location and they didn't even have the correct info! They don't have the most recent up to date info on my pet for some reason even though I bought the paperwork DIRECTLY TO THEM. Me and my husband came here twice this week for the fish, and we had great experiences with the store and the staff both time. A guy and a girl( sorry should have asked their names) were very nice and helpful to us. The store is the nicest Petco I've been to. It's very spacious and clean. I feel bad that they have bad yelp reviews but maybe that was from the old management. Hopefully they will do better in the near future. read more

I just got my rescue dog on Thursday, July 3rd. He is the sweetest thing! But....he was dirty, had lots of spiny thorns and lots of dirt on him. I washed him on at home Thursday and made an appointment for Friday at noon at Petco. As Dan (my hunnie) and Rudy (my new dog) and I arrived, the associates were very helpful and guided us through our grooming services. I felt very confident that they would take care of rudy and make him all clean and flealess. Since the wait is usually 3-4 hours, my hun and I killed some time. After 3.5 hours, I got a call and Rudy was ready! I was excited to see him and to kiss him all over since he was going to be clean. When I picked him up, he smelled very nice and looked happy! However, he still had some stubs and dirt stains stuck on his fur. I was hoping he would be cleaner...yet he still looked dirty to me. Well, he was quite a mess when I turned him in, so I'll give them another chance. I'll play with Rudy and send him to Petco again ( in the next few weeks) just to see how they do on a second try. Either way, they cleaned the "funk" out of him and kept him happy. They get a 4 stars from Rudy, Dan and me!! read more

All around bad service. I took my dog here for the first time to get a bath and haircut since I moved on this side of town. I dropped her off for her appointment at 1 pm and they said they will call me when she is ready to be picked up. They called me at 4:21 pm and left me a voicemail to say she's ready for pickup and that they close at 5 pm. I called right back to let them know I was on the way and another employee and answered and said that was fine. when I was down the road (now 4:50) they call me back to tell me they didn't do anything to my dog! Not even a bath or nail trim, NOTHING! She said, "your dog cried when I tried to take her out" I asked her why didn't they call me earlier and tell me that and she said she did call me and I didn't answer. (That was definitely a lie because I only had one missed call from them and I called them right back.) they had my dog in the kennel for FOUR hours when I could've went and picked up up hours ago!!! I think I'm more furious that she bold face lied and said she had been calling me! I understand you couldn't do anything to my dog because she was scared but you had her sitting in the kennel for 4 HOURS!! I will never be coming back here. read more

We call the store and we were told there were no groomers in and they dont come in until 9. We have had several appts in the past at 8 at this same location. I wish I could give this place a ZERO. I give them a four stars for good manners, friendly, people person, and being helpful but I wouldn't buy small animal pets here. My guinea pig at first didn't notice the small bald spot which I was told seems like missing hair that's it. But I was skeptical. I read about it possibility of being fungal infection related to mites. When I got pet back after vet check I didn't think twice until I got home. I spent more hours doing a much more thorough related to guinea pigs- skin lesion-fungal infection- and mites and they are related! Mites isn't easy to tell at early stage . I notice different areas of skin lesion like dandruff spots on my GP with hair loss underneath the hair in surface - mostly on back and spotted on leg as well. I feel horrible that I will have to return this baby and wished I waited to adopt another make for my GP instead of not educating myself enough & went to buy one at petco. I have worked for this store for over a year.. the manager always chamge .the store is always nasty.. they dont take car of their animals are never taken.care of properly. Alot of their produts on the self are expired and people buy the produts without knowing. And Shanna and Anna are very rude amd snobby. Every time I purchase "Fresh pet vital" refrigerated food from this store it either already has mold growing on it, or it turns grey and sticky/slimy within a few weeks. Their open faced refrigerator they sell this food does not keep the food at an adequate temperature and it is causing quite a concern. I called Matito, the store manager today, and he argued with me and told me the refrigerator was adequate and there have been no other complaints. He kept talking over me and would not let me express my concerns. When I took the first batch of food back the end of last year, the manager at that time told me that I was NOT the only complaint and that the refrigerator really DOES need to be a refrigerator that opens and closes properly, not one that is open all day. I will not shop there again until this problem is addressed, even though this is the closest per store that carries this food! I am concerned that other dogs will eat this food and become sick from it! I sure hope they fix this problem!! read more

I have had a horrible experience lately and I wanted to share so future customers can be aware. My dog Bentley has recently taken the dog training class level 1 and I wanted to further his training by getting him off of the treats. I've purchased the dog training class level 2 for my dog for $119. The first level was really helpful but the second one not so much. I've recently encountered a problem with Petco when we showed up late last week. Our appointment time was at 10:00 a.m and the store also opens at 10. We use to show up early but we could not go inside because the store was closed and our dog would go crazy waiting. We soon decided to go in a little later and we have done it numerous times. We would come in no later than 10:10 and his class was for 1 hour so he would still have 50 minutes. When we went for his 4th class of level 2, we came in at 10:08 a.m and the trainer told us she could not do his class because her manager said we were over 10 minutes late. I was upset because we were not notified this would happen if we showed up late. My sister and I tried to talk to the manager because we signed a contract and it was not in there and it was not verbally stated either. The store managers name is Mackenzie and she was coincidentally on a phone call when we asked to speak to her. So that day I wasted my gas and my time. On Tuesday I asked to speak to her on the issue over the phone and she was so rude and kept talking over me so I told her "don't talk over me." When it was the end of the conversation she asked me "Is there anything else I can help you with" and instead of letting me answer, she hung up. I am 17 years old and I don't care if you are older I want the same respect I gave you and she did not give that. I talked to the trainer this week and she said even if you are 1 minute late she still does not have to give the class, but the manager said if you are over 5 minutes late the trainer can cancel the class. See two different stories, so who is telling the truth? Supposedly it is a policy for the trainers to know but not the customers. If I paid for the class and if I'm late it's on me and I want whatever time is left for my dog to learn. My dog Bentley's first birthday was the next day and he came home sad which is not okay. The manager also likes to pet my dog during his classes and she said all this stuff behind our backs. This Petco is full of deceit and lies, I do not recommend this location. Petco has lost my business because of this and I recommend PetSmart because nothing can be worse than this service. read more

Today at 5:30 pm at the 10911 Westheimer "Vetco" clinic hosted by Vet D. Cristman, My well behaved trained service dogs were refused service by D. Cristman after three smaller breed dogs began barking, growling, and snarling at the glass enclosure door that My two waited at the door for microchips. Twice the dogs inside escaped their owners control and ran at the glass door barking at My dogs who again did not respond to their energy or Cristman who repeatedly waved her arms around in the air as she walked away saying "I can't deal with this today." "I'm the vet and I can refuse service and I'm the vet for all Vet Co locations." She asked Me to remove My dogs from the glass which again is G L A S S. If We stood back 15 feet or 20 or 30 the dogs inside the enclosure would yet be visible to all in the front of the enclosure, the right of it, and the side of it as again it is see through glass not opaque. Breed ignorance and discrimination is unpleasant any time it occurs but it is solidified as reprehensible and saddening from those who profess to "Care for Dogs." I would not suggest this Vet Co service or Vet D. Cristman for any breed service any day at any location. It is 99 degrees today in Houston and zero stars is Kind but one has to be given for a review. read more

Terrible service!! The groomer cut my dog's ear without bothering to tell me and totally botched his grooming. Claimed that he tried to bite and was aggressive. Mind you, this is a small, 6 pound Yorkie. No wonder he didn't want her to touch him after cutting him! It was suggested I get the vet to provide something to sedate him, which was ridiculous. I knew something had happened to my pet because this was totally out of character. He has been professionally groomed his whole life. I had to postpone my trip because he was half cut and his coat left in terrible condition. I carried him to his regular groomer the following day only to find what had happened. He was as calm as always and there were no incidences of aggression as claimed at Petco. Never take your pet to the Westchase location for grooming! They obviously lack experience, patience, and knowledge. The groomers there should be fired!! read more

Can't stand coming here, but its the closest pet store to me. There is never anyone by aquatics/reptiles ready to help. I always have to wait at least 15 to 20 minutes until someone finally shows up, even after an employee from a different department pages someone to help. If I could give this Petco zero stars I would if I could but unfortunately I can't. I became a rewards member as soon as I started shopping here for my dogs, unfortunately as I started to spend more and more money I wanted to know what the status of my points was so I could obviously cash out on my rewards. Well they tell me in the store that they're not allowed to tell me my points. OK that was fine so I called customer service to find out that there was no information for my rewards account under my name but under somebody else's name with my phone number linked to it. So I'm thinking That whoever created my pals reward account in the store at this location did not enter any of my information my name my address nothing they literally used my phone number to connect it to somebody else's account. So I spent almost $200 at this Petco location to find out somebody named Juan Carrion was using all my points by having my phone number connected to his account. I have called customer service twice to fix this problem and they have but what bothers me is the manager at this location Shannon literally did nothing to help me not even admit that they were wrong and is trying to make it seem like I made a mistake. But what's funny is I didn't create my account they did at the store location when they were checking me out and asking me if I wanted to become a rewards member, Yet she did not admit it and will not explain who this person is and what ties they had to the store even if they don't work there obviously there somebody's friend family member or loved one to have the connection to the store she did nothing to help to admit that it was therefore and they were wrong not a coupon not a sorry not anything this Petco location will not see my money anymore or my business and I hope people do not spend their money here either because it is not a cheap store you're better off getting Amazon prime account and shopping at whole foods for your dog food. HORRIBLE !! Still upset I tried to give this place the Benefit of the doubt from there other reviews but they just prove the other review right ! Anyways I booked an appointment for my Saint Bernard for Friday at 12pm I put my phone number and also my boyfriend number so they could call us for any reason. I live in Hockley TX and you probably wondering why would she make in appointment to this location. Well I booked it there because my dogs and I will be house sitting for my parents so they live on this side of town. My dad came with me to help me with my 160lb dog in and out of my car. Any-who , I get there and I obviously see someone in the grooming room and he comes out totally ignoring that my dad and i are there and then sees the dog and says " oh are you here for a grooming ?!" I said "yes " then he says "nobody called you the girl called out because there was an emergency " I was upset no one had called me I got there an hour before my appointment. I drove all the way over here not sure if I could find another location. No one help no one there said " oh I'll call another location and find you a appointment for driving all the way over here " no " we're sorry no one called " or " can we help you take your dog back to your car " nothing so disappointed with this place. To think I was giving this place a chance and not listening to these other bad reviews. I do not recommending take your dogs here at all. read more
