Zero stars Robin (pink hair ) was horrible went in for a fish it's my home store. When she walked up huffing and puffing made sure to fix the ladder before even acknowledging me. Sat down and didn't say anything I pointed to the tank I wanted and then mentioned a few tanks had multiples of fish dying, and most tanks showed signs of ick, fungus and etc. stood up and and said well I just got here I don't know anything. I reiterated I'm just pointing it out. Just as well the mice have ringworm. She slammed the ladder around to walk away and said well guess what you can't buy anything Everything's closed off. Then continued talking rudely to me . As someone who works in customer service this is not ok, I was having a great time visiting Siren and Dee Dee. I normally visit frequently but today that will change I left my Merrick dog and cat food with toys and walked out as she still continued to fuss. Totally unacceptable. If I could give zero stars I would. Just a heads up the mice had ringworm and majority of fish in tanks had ick and or clamped fins. Let's not forget all the dead fish that were in the tanks . Yes I am fully aware it happens but in my history with Petco it's policy to remove the deceased fish. Just like it's in the policy to greet and connect, engage with customers. read more

Alexis groomed both my son and daughter, I've been going to Petco for over 7 years and she is one of the best groomers. She took her time, was gentle with both my dogs, and her skills made both look cuter. My little boy is blind so she worked around his disability and my little girl has cataracts plus skin tags over her body so she took care around her skin tags. Elena did an excellent job of trimming my dog, Lucky's nails. This was his first visit here. He becomes very anxious when anyone holds his paws but Elena was very reassuring with him and it went well. I especially liked that I could see them while she worked with him. Most places take your dog out of sight. I will definitely be going back. read more

The store is well stocked and they have great deal (especially during Christmas time). I was most impressed with the sales associate. I think her name is Robin. She was exceptionally helpful. She even helped me read the labels on dog treats to weed out the ones with meat since my dog has a meat allergy. I was so thankful she dropped everything she was doing to help me. I was in a hurry that day and needed the assistance. The original item I found online, is only an online deal; they no longer carry it in the stores. Having to start all over and being in a hurry was a bad combination. Good job for attracting me to this Petco Store on Voss. Because this is the closest store to me for online orders. I was here a year ago to pick up cat shampoo. The store was half empty because they were restocking merchandise. I asked about a water filter for cat water dish I bought at Carter's Pet Market. The store clerk showed me where to find it but nothing was on the shelf. Then, she asked me to come back in a week. I came in the following week. Still nothing. Then, I went to Carter's Pet Market to buy it. I come in here just the other day to check on some cat food prices. This time, everything was well-stocked. But the products were all over the places. I mean, they got so expensive with too many choices. Each price tag has 2 prices, one for Pals Rewards members and the other one is for non-members like me. I just don't understand why nobody ever offered me to join the rewards program. Not a single store wants me to be on the rewards program. It's okay. I don't really care to shop here anyway. This location has an older man as a manager at this store is beyond unprofessional. I'm leaving this review only because I worked as a sales associate and manager in some retail chains and was not impressed with his behavior. I foster dogs from time to time and we haft to sometimes supply the dogs or cats with the necessary items they need. Well upon returning the items I no longer needed because the dog I was fostering got adopted the older man who is a manager rudely asked "what did you do get rid of the dog!" I replied kindly and said "no sir, I fostered the dog and she was adopted. I no longer need these items." I was understanding if the store could not accept them, but they did. The girl who checked me out did an amazing job and actually apologized on his behalf for his poor behavior. That's how customer service should be. I hope she gets promoted because when I was an associate or manager I never behaved in that manner as he did. I need to get my kitty's nails trimmed but I don't want to drive all the way out to Houston Humane services just to save a few dollars. I called Petco to find out their process. Grooming services answered and they were very polite. Gave me the information I needed. Today is Saturday and she said they can do nail trim up until 5 o'clock because the grooming services closes at 5:30. I don't remember the exact amount she quoted but it was less than $20 for a nail trim and have to bring proof of current rabies vaccination. I'll update the review after we get my kitty's nails trimmed there. read more

This location cares very little about aquatics. I asked the fish keeper a simple question about live plans and maintenance and gave me an uneducated answer, "the plants will be ok in any tank, just drop them in there" she said. After asking her a question that involved soil and PH density I decided to brows the tank to see how she put these plants in there. To my surprise, not really, she harmed the fish by affecting the PH values with live plants. The water is also very muddy and more than the fish I photographed were dead. I wouldn't go here if you are a fish lover. This is poorly maintained and disgusting how they don't see so many fish are dead in their tanks. I wish I could give 0 stars. read more

This is my neighborhood Petco and where I go to buy all my pet needs. I like how it smells when I walk in I think it's the dog biscuits hey have in the front haha. I love seeing everyone's fur babies when I come in every time. They carry the Hill's Science brand that my cat has been having since I adopted him from the shelter. The staff here is all pretty nice, sometimes the check out line can be long but I've never waited more than like 10 minutes to be checked out. They do have the name tag machine if you want to make tags for your fur children. There is also an area for adoptable sweet kitties. I like that they stay open to about 9 pm which gives me enough time to get anything if I need to. read more

My husband took my 9 month puppy to get a bath and Ormon O was the stylist. He still gets a bit anxious or scared of the big dryers they have back there. Little did Ormon know but my husband was already inside waiting for my dog to be done and heard Ormon cursing and being an a$$ to my dog because he started pooping because of how bad his anxiety was. Instead of comforting my dog he did the complete opposite and did nothing to ease his anxiety. Will NEVER bring my dog back here again. Just your average Petco. I only come here to get dog food so all the other services that they offer don't really matter to me. One thing that irks me is the prices they show online and the prices they have in store often times don't match. I always get the 35-lbs Purina Pro Plan Savor Chicken Blend and the last time I was here, the online price was $39.99 while the in-store price was $41.99. Yeah, $2.00 don't break the bank, but it's still annoying. As for the staff, nobody ever greets me or asks if I needed help. But that's pretty much any Petco that I've been to so my expectation of service is always down in the gutter. read more

went as a walk-in to have the mini spa done for my dog. Essentially went to get nails clipped but a couple of extra bucks and it included ears cleaned and something else. Waited, waited, and waited. Guy running the cash register called 3 times and nobody. At this point, other customers had arrived to pick up their dogs and nobody was there. Finally called for what I'm assuming was a Manager or Assistant Manager. He retrieved both dogs for the other 2 people and then asked my needs. I explained that I was there for my dog's nails and he told me nobody was there. In the midst of waiting, I learned that if there are dogs in the back, there should always be someone present to look after them. Apparently the groomers had left early, notified nobody, and left animals without a watchful eye. This irresponsible behavior definitely makes me question the safety of the care and practice. Went into to Petco tonight for some fish supplies and hot the plusure of being taken care of by Robin. She was extremely knowledgeable about all the fish we were purchasing. Fast and efficient. Took my baby to Petco for the first time to get groomed and comes back home with his eye red swollen and it hurts him to open it I thought maybe it was soap in his eye I tried to wash it but it still was bothering him . I called Petco to find out what happened but they said everything was fine I'm like no everything is not fine he's in pain. They tell me to take him to their vet and they will pay the bill. So I get here and here's another owner from the same Petco bringing their dog in from the groomers because their ear got cut. Never again will I take him to get groomed. Even though they took care of his bill that ain't he's in pain suffering. He has to wear an E-collar and pain medications for a week . I'm very upset my baby is suffering. I was very disappointed with the lack of help from the staff. I had a grooming appointment for my dog but when I got there the groomer said that she couldn't provide the service for her. This was just by her looking at my dog, without even trying to make a connection with her to make her feel comfortable. I could not understand why they weren't able to take my dog in. Teddy, my dog, was nervous like any other dog would be, but she is not aggressive. In fact, I had taken her to get a haircut once in this exact location and didn't seem to have a problem then. Do Not Use Their Grooming Services - I scheduled an appointment early in the week for Saturday @ 10:45 a.m. Dropped her off on time. This was our 2nd visit. The first visit was with Terrell and when I arrived to pick her up he did say that he was not able to do a complete grooming (she was to have a bath, schnauzer cut, nails trimmed and teeth brushed) He said that she barked at him most of the time. They discounted the price as a result. No a big deal at the time since I figured that this was her first time in and the groomer was new to her as well. 2nd visit on December 15, 2018 @ 10:45 a.m. Dropped off my mini schnauzer with America (groomer) explained what had happened on the first visit. Let her know that this was her 2nd visit and hopefully that it would work out better than the first. America said that she would be ready for pick up in about 4 hours. Called 4 hours later and asked if she was ready and America explained that she was running late and that it would be another hour before ready. These things do happen and was glad that I called ahead. Arrived 5 hours after dropping her off to pick her up. America was wresting with another dog trying to get it on a table to cut nails. From the floor, she let me know that she had not even started working on my dog. Her tone was frustrated and defensive when asked why. I reminded her that I had called hour ago and that she had said that my dog would be ready in an hour. (She never mentioned that she had not started her grooming). She informed that she was very busy and that she was behind. She explained that she has to answer the phones and take every walk-in that comes through the door before appointments. If she doesn't then she gets in trouble. I spoke with the manager and asked why Petco would have such a policy, makes no sense. He didn't know the answer...he isn't the manager for the grooming department. I mentioned to manager that my dog had been her for 5 hours and then America mentioned that most of the dogs back there had been waiting for 6 hours. This is a horrible practice and terrible policy if true. Thinking back to my call, America told me that she would be ready in an hour and she had not even started the grooming process. My interpretation of that statement is rush job! Maybe this is the reason Terrell was not able to complete her grooming on the first visit. I have used 2 other groomers over the years and they have always said she is a great and never had a problem with her or them. I moved and this the reason for new groomer. No 3rd chances for Petco. I do not recommend that anyone take pets to their grooming department. Any company who takes a walk-in over an appointment and thinks it is okay to have dogs in kennels for 5 and 6 hours waiting for grooming is not cool. read more

Normally I take my chihuahua to her vet to get her nails trimmed. Vet hours aren't the most convenient so I decided to try the grooming salon here. It's just nails right? I could wait with her during the process, which is a must for me. The grooming room is extremely tiny and also houses the check in area. I gave my information to the associate over the continuous barking of a dog tied up to one of the table legs. The guy takes my dog and looks around for the proper tools. After asking another associate where he could get some tools, he hands my dog back to me and goes out to the store to find the tools. I'm looking around at the piles and piles of dog fur all over the place and start to get even more nervous. Then they bring out a huge German Shepherd and tie him up with the other still barking dog. Really- you think that was a smart move to bring a huge dog out of the back with another barking dog and my tiny chihuahua? The room is the size of a closet. No way. I took my dog and ran. "It's just nails"? No way would I even let them cut her nails. read more

If you love pets then you will love Petco. The best thing about this store is that they always have discounts and coupons, especially if you have a rewards card. Who doesn't like to save money? Also, there is everything you could think of for your pet right inside of this store. I have a cat, so I don't get to take advantage of bringing my pet to the store, but if you have a dog then you will love it. If you bring your dog make sure he's on a leash. There are treats for your pet, and they will also bathe and groom your pet as well. The staff is very friendly, and I haven't see a pet that didn't like one of the staff members. For this to be a pet store, it is very clean. There are always working going around making sure the isles are clear and the pet treats are swept up from the floor. For your pet, there is a variety of food, toys, clothes, beds, and anything else you think your pet will want. They also sell pets so if you're looking a low maintenance pet, like a fish, this is where you need to be. The parking lot is shared with other stores like DSW and Academy, but since Petco is in the corner, have parking spaces directly in the front of the store or on the side of the store. There is always plenty of parking, so you won't have to fight for a spot. Overall, I love this store and I will continue to shop here for my pet's needs. read more

This place has all your basic pet needs and multiple selections of many items. that makes it nice to have a choice. The cat food selection is really quite large and I like the toy section too. For those who like to dress up their pets there is an interesting selection to choose from. Plenty of cat boxes and litter selections so that is good too. The interior lighting is a little dim making it seem old and dingy. Surprisingly they have a great selection of small animal pet supplies. Definitely better than Petsmart. I was mainly impressed with the variety of rabbit food that they offered. Petco even offered pellets formulated for young rabbits (which I have). Generally I bring my dog to Petco because she sheds like crazy when her hair gets too long. I brought her back in September and everything went well. Her hair was short like I wanted but there were some patchy bald spots but she's old so maybe that's just the way her hair grows. (that's not what the review is mostly about) Anyways, about 3 weeks ago someone called me and said they were having a special on Feb 4th with a half off grooming sale. They asked if I wanted to bring my dog in and of course I said yes. I was going to try to take her over the weekend but I could wait a couple more days. So I showed up at 8:30 (the grooming salon opens at 8 but the store opens at 9 yet no dogs were being groomed in the grooming salon that early) and had to bang on the door till some guy opened it. I went to the tiny grooming area and said hello to the woman (again....no dogs being groomed despite being 'open'). The woman asked if I had my dog's rabies vaccine information and I don't. I haven't been able to take her to the vet yet (my vet is an hour away). The lady said they can't groom her without it and she offered to call my vet but again, I haven't been able to take her in. The lady said I could take her to the vet, get the shots, wait 2 days and then come back. I asked if I would still get the discount and she said no. Why didn't the lady who originally called with the offer say something about this in the first place? She must have had my dog's info handy to make the phone call...I wasted nearly an hour on a Wednesday morning and was late to work. Thanks read more

My first time and last. I took my mini schnauzer today for grooming - bath and de-mat, no shave. Erica did the "grooming" and did a horrible job. I picked up my dog and she was very skittish, nervous, and uncomfortable. It was only when I got her home that I realized Erica didn't de-mat her at all! Her legs, under her chin, and chest were a mess and still matted! Plus, she shaved her stomach area, and a terrible job at that, and left her irritated and red marks on her. She was in such pain, everytime I touched her legs, she flinched. She got a fever after getting home. The staff, groomers were unprofessional, lazy, inconsiderate, careless, and abusive. I will never take my pet there again and will inform everyone I know not to do so, as well. It's disgusting. They should not be in the grooming business. read more

Had a scheduled appointment at 10:30am. Got there 5 minutes early and there was 1 person in front of me. I sat outside the little grooming room as my dog is rather large and sometimes scares others and smaller dogs. After waiting 15 minutes for the person infront of me to be helped/done, and my dog freaking out from being scared, I left. There was a young gentleman working the desk who absolutely cannot do it on his own. I watched him type with one finger, super slow. He either needs to be better trained or someone else needs to help him. took way too long. Sorry to say may be best to have a woman do this. My dog gets very scared, I waited literally until I felt so bad for my boy I just left. will not be ever going back here and will try petsmart :) read more

Horrible. Pitiful. Annoying. Just some simple words to describe stopping at this ridiculous location. Easily the last 3-4 times I've been (simply out of time constraints) that I've been here, there either wasn't an employee ANYWHERE the store (seemingly) MUCH less someone at the front of the store..........you know by the cash registers? Maybe protect the cash in them? Or stop someone from running off with some hamsters, or a ferret, or an aquarium, or ....etcétera.....etcétera. Whenever there is a person up front, there is only one, EVER, and there are other irritated customers wondering around, perplexed at the shoddy service. The poor souls wondering if they'll get to see their families and pets, after a long day on the grinder. Good grief already what in the tarnation is wrong with the management? Is there even a manager? Well I for one don't have 15-20 minutes to purchase a silly bag of cat food. Ya know? I'll take my business to the other pet store down the road, which actually has a designated cashier to ring up......well......... anything. It's a small Petco. My daughter had a pet rabbit and this is the closest to our home that has the stuff we need. We are always greeted when we enter. They have a nice size selection for rabbits and small animals. The only issue is that every time we come for the bedding, it's just one large bag. This time they had one in the back so we bought both bags. The last time, it was just one. I may just see about ordering the one we prefer online. read more

I recently had surgery and was not able to give my dog a bath, so have been going to Petco for the last couple of months. I cannot begin to describe how wonderful Joy is as a groomer. If I have to visit this PetCo, I know I'm in for a lot of waiting. Either waiting to happen upon an employee so I can ask questions and get help, or wait at the register to be rung up. This store has such an unstable amount of foot traffic that it sometimes seems understaffed, and other times seems overstaffed. It's a very clean building, and I have come to understand from some of the employees here that the store recently underwent a renovation - it does shine though, and the shelves are organized intelligently with plenty of room for me to take my dog and walk around. However, it's rather untidy and I almost always have a price issue because items were out of place. The groomers are honestly the saving grace, and the only reason I didn't give two stars. The groomers are always really friendly, happy to answer my nagging and endless questions, and always offer me good advice on products to purchase to keep Frankie happy, healthy, and clean. It's also within walking distance of home, so I have to be biased on that end. Overall, it's not a store to right home about, but it will get the job done if you are in need of supplies. read more

I think I've taken my dog here since she was born. I was so skeptical at first. But I HIGHLY suggest bringing your pet here. They take such good care of my little girl. No dog is happy to go get their haircut. But Shelby does so good. The girls there are so calm and I've never seen a nick on her skin. She gets a very short cut and I know she doesn't stay still. They event checked out her entire body before I dropped her off just Incase they found something I needed to be aware of. read more

Do not utilize their pet sitting services Wag! I booked an online appointment several days before the service was supposed to go into effect. I cancelled the services the same day and was charged for services never rendered. Move forward to four days later and I still have not received a refund from the charges they placed on my credit card. You call Petco and they want to give you the run around and said that it is not their doing. The services are booked on your website and Wag is an affiliate of your company. You should assist in resolving the complaint and ensuring the credit is returned to your customer. I spent the last hour talking to multiple persons without the issue being resolved. Not my favorite place to shop for pet supplies, but as it is close to home I have gone here about 4-5 times and have left with the same impression. Sloppy. I am an animal lover so I love buying fun things, good food and new options for my pets so it really bothers me that a store like this is not very clean and doesn't smell as good as it should. Granted, animals live there and kitty litter boxes and possible accidents happen, but it smells like these accidents have happened a lot here and might not have been cleaned up too quickly. This breaks my heart because there are little souls in there who need our help and deserve the best, and I wonder if they are getting taken care of well. As for the other impressions - the store seems cluttered and not well organized. I ran into a "manager" a couple of months back who said that he was sent there to fix what prior management didn't do right. However, I have seen no real change since then. Supplies that should be side by side are in different areas of the store, shelves are over-loaded with their items thrown haphazardly around and there doesn't seem to be any real order in the store. Location is important to me, but I must admit that I had continued to visit this store to ensure that it continued to see money coming in the door for the little animals who are hoping to find a home. However, it has become too sad to keep coming in so I go elsewhere and instead donate to the Company's adoption site whenever I can. As a side note, and yes it is a personal opinion - please spay and neuter your pets in order to avoid little homeless babies who end up in places like this. read more
