Clean store and friendly staff, however there is an issue with the sale and transfer of pets...I had the recent experience of dealing with a third party contractor named Mary Kay. I am very unsatisfied with my new pet. Manager Christine was unable to get ahold of contractor that sold me the pet and now I have been told by police I have to go to small claims court (over $160) because the contractor lives out of state? What is this world coming to where a business cant take ownership of their contractors? I tried contacting Mary Kay for 5 days straight and no response. They sold me a bill of goods. We had a bad experience at the other Petco location with our dogs ear being cut super low and at this location we just experienced extremely bad customer service. One of the grooming employees (never got her name but she had a rainbow fohawk which is pretty distinctive in my opinion) snapped at us about how she could or couldn't style our dogs cut. I could tell right off the bat she wasn't a people person and her rudeness didn't stop there- the cut was badly done and quite frankly I could have put up with that because fur grows back, but the sour taste her personality left with us? On a Sunday morning me and my daughter went to this Petco to get a ferret. We told them two years ago we bought a ferret from them, and sadly passed away from a heart problem. They had a wonderful verity of ferrets, some from the last litter and some from then new. My daughter found one that she was interested in and wanted to hold it to see if that was the one she wanted to take home. However the store manager said we can not touch it, hold it, and see if thats the one she wanted to take home, till we paid for it. When coming into PetCo today on Marks Street in Henderson my expectations were low. I had been to a PetSmart near my home and not only did they not have what I was looking for but practically ignored me and mis guided to the wrong section. I left frustrated and went back to PetCo. As soon as I walked in the door a nice young man wearing a CDC mask greeted me and asked how he could help. When I told him what I wanted he took me to the section of cat food and explained the different products. I told him that I just adopted a kitten from his store a few days earlier. He not only showed me the product that I wanted but reminded me about the new adoptors discout book that I had been given but l forgot in my car. I grabbed it we went through the book and ended up buying alot more than I came in for but everything I needed. He was so helpful and knowledgeable about the products and kitties. This made my adoption procesd even easier and even one fun. I normally do not write reviews but have to tell the planet about Tyler, his kindness and product knowledge. Top-notch customer service!! I was helped on the phone by Brianna first. She told me they did not carry the exact product I was looking for but they did have similar products, which brought me into the store. Once I got there I found what she was talking about. I had some questions about the different products, found Brianna and she directed me to Lewis. Lewis went above and beyond to stop what he was doing, explain what the product did and suggest things that would help my little 8lb toy poodles upset tummy. I took my puppy to get groomed here. Char was very helpful and friendly. She was very sweet to my dog and helped us out a lot when we checked my dog in. Unfortunately, I took a star off because Cathy(I believe was her name) who groomed my dog was really unnecessary. She told me in a motherly tone "your dog needs to be trained" when I picked him up. And that was ALL she said. Nothing nice nothing polite, that was it. Yeah, he's a 9 month old puppy whom I've had for 2 months and adopted from the animal shelter. I am working on it, but regardless, I didn't ask nor is it her place to tell me that. If you don't like working with dogs of all temperaments, I don't know, don't be a dog groomer. You can't guarantee how or if anyone will train their dog so you should not be a groomer if you can't handle all kinds of dogs, especially puppies. Also, she did a very mediocre job with his grooming. And I paid extra for nail buffing (clipping is supposed to be included also) and it seems she didn't do either has his nails are still sharp and seem to be about the same length. read more

I will not be returning to this Petco, or probably any Petco in the future. I should have just stuck with Petsmart, but they were out of what I needed and I made the mistake of choosing location over quality. The manager is RUDE and condescending to her customers! WOW! I have never left an establishment feeling more like a jerk for trying to help out my pet. I recently got a hamster from Petsmart and was concerned about wet tail because I had not seen a solid poo since they had come home and had a dirty butt one time that day which I cleaned. I then brought the hamster to be seen by a professional about my concern and they told me that it COULD be the very very early stages of wet tail but because it wasn't constant or because she showed no other signs of the disorder that the best course of action would be to give her the wet tail drops. This way if it is the very early stages of wet tail we'd nip it in the bud and no harm would come to her if she didn't have it. Petsmart was out of the drops so I went to Petco. I couldn't find any associate to help me, so I went to the register. The gentleman there was new and said he didn't know anything so he'd ask his manager. She immediately comes out saying "If your hamster has wet tail you need to take it to the vet." I explained the situation and she shook her head at me and said (in front of my young daughter) "we dont carry it because it could die in 24 hours if you don't take it to the vet." I explained the hamster had been looked at and we weren't even sure she had it at all, but she insisted on lecturing me and acting snarky. I later had to explain to my daughter the hamster wouldnt die and I was doing everything to keep it healthy. Thanks for that too. Just because you work at Petco doesn't give you the right or authority to talk to me that way. I have many animals that i take excellent care of (as a matter of fact, I am currently treating my goldfish for constipation... but try and act like I dont know what my pets do and do not need!). If you want to lecture people go become a veterinarian. Otherwise do your job and leave the attitude at home. Professionalism should be utilized even in retail. read more

Penny Lane and I love Petco!! When we stop in here to pick up some of her much needed toys and clothes we get greeted by name by some of the employees that know us! The staff is always helpful and friendly and don't mind if Penny Lane decides to leave them a little present of her own ...happens....we were a little disappointed because the Halloween costumes and toys were promised a few days earlier then they were displayed so we made a few unnecessary trips out but soon we found that they were worth the wait!! I've been a customer and volunteer at this Petco for over 2 years and I have found everything I need for my pets. It's in a great location and it's never crowded although it might seem crowded at the register because they don't staff enough people generally. I am a member of their Rewards program and repeat delivery and this is my One Stop Shop for all my pets needs. I love getting the emails to tell me when things are on sale that way I save money ; food and toys and beds and cat litter and cleaners can really break your budget if you don't spend wisely. Being a volunteer with the cat rescue in store I come in contact with the companion animal manager often and she always has good advice for me for any kind of animal; she doesn't pretend to be a doctor but she always encourages you to learn more and pet health is her foremost concern :-) This is definitely the Petco store I always shop at and refer to others that need to buy pet related items! read more

I never write reviews but what happened today pissed me off. I had a great experience at the Petco in Summerlin but the black male employee with the cornrows who helped me today.. must've been racist or something. I asked him for help in the fish area and the entire time, he treated me like I was a nuisance. I asked for one aquatic plant. (I definitely wanted more but I could tell he was annoyed by me already) Then I told him that I would like 4 of the see through white fin tetras and 1 calico goldfish. This is when he starts to SCOLD me like I'm 5 years old (mind you I'm 5'7 with a slight athletic build, filipino/ Islander girl) "You can NOT mix COLD WATER & TROPICAL fish together" 4x over and over saying the same thing while I'm trying to decide what I'm gonna do so he could shut up and I could get out of there. I decide to just get the tetras and as I'm walking away there's an older white lady an aisle down and I can hear him genuinely, kindly, and respectfully ask her "ma'am can I help you with anything?". Worst! Absolute worst customer service I have ever seen at a pet business. It took almost 3 hours to give my fur baby a bath, de-shed, and trim his nails. After picking him up, my baby which is high energy but super lovable rubbed his nose on the back of my husbands arms while he was trying the put the leash on. The employee was like oh no he (the dog) must have cut you and you have blood coming down the back of your arm. I asked her for paper towels. Before we left, she said that she was going to refer my baby to the vet because he's "high energy." After getting in the car my baby was in the back seat and leaned over the front seat to kiss my cheek. I looked over and he had a big gouge in his nose and was bleeding from his nose. I don't know what they did to him but with the rude and bad attitude employees I can only imagine. If you care about the life and health or your fur baby, do not take him to Petco for grooming. My review is for the grooming area. I'll start by saying I was very pleased with getting an appointment within two hours of having called and I called late in the day. I dropped off my dog and everything went fine. I was told it would take the usual two to three hours. The groomer (Tysha Nutt) called and told me my dog was ready but that she couldn't get some parts on my dog's neck. Okay no big deal. I went to pick up my dog and noticed Tysha was outside having a smoke break. Okay no big deal. I had no reason to concern myself with her smoking. I went inside. I could hear my dog calling out for me. I was sure someone would come out and assist me. I waited and waited, called out to someone but it turned out nobody was there. The only person there was Tysha who was out on her cigarette break. I went outside and asked if anyone was going to help me. She came in and handed me my paperwork. I tipped her $10.00 and went to pay. It wasn't until we were getting ready for bed that I saw a big cut on my dog's shoulder and on her paw where the pad meets the skin. I was furious. This cut isn't a small cut it's pretty big. I will go back to this Petco because it's convenient for me but I will NOT let Tysha near my dog ever again. She needs to go back for more training or needs to find another job if she isn't patient with dogs. read more

we adopted a cat from this location and have had nothing but problems. before we even agreed to the cat we were promised that she had seen a vet shortly beforehand and she was in perfect health which was the furthest thing from the truth. the cat has an awful smell and was making crazy noise when breathing so we took her into our vet. our vet was absolutely horrified by what they saw on our poor cat. he said there is no way any vet would have said she is in perfect health with how bad of a condition she was in. almost all of her teeth are rotted out an have to be removed, she had the most severe case of asthma he's ever seen, and untreated anal glands. our baby almost died just from trying to get xrays taken and had to be put in an oxygen chamber with an iv sedative to help reduce the inflammation in her airways. over $1,000 in vet bills later and she still isnt even close to being done with vet visits in order to get her healthy again. we tried getting medical documentation from the lady that runs the rescue and now they magically have no vet records showing that she ever went to the vet for anything other than a rabies shot. out of all the pets i have ever adopted i have never had such a horrible experience. truly sad what theyre getting away with doing to those animals. read more

Everyone at Pet Co is very friendly and extremely helpful BUT me and my mom bought a teddy bear hamster today from this location and they put the hamster in a tiny carrier box. I honestly felt bad for the poor hamster because it was small to where she could barely turn in it. Not to mention the box's quality SUCKS because it is not sturdy nor thick enough to where a critter can escape. I live 20-25 mins away from Pet Co and the hamster chewed through the box and almost escaped while my mom was driving. Luckily we had another box in the car big enough to put the carrier box inside that box and just in time because the hamster did come out...basically they need to have better quality boxes cause what if a child had the hamster and it escaped? What if someone was alone and driving then all of a sudden it escapes and gets into an accident? Everything is good now but the ride home was hell. read more

Guy asked way too many questions when I said I wanted a few Tetras (3/4" fish), then refused to sell them to me after I said they were eventually going in my turtle tank. He said they had specific feeder fish for that and it was illegal for him to sell me the tetras. . . I've never heard a chain pet store employee talk such ridiculousness-- I'm sure Petco is not coaching their employees to police like this, this guy was obviously taking it upon himself to lay down random, unknown laws and refuse sales. Instead of finishing my shopping, I was annoyed and left with what I had. I didn't feel comfortable with Mr. Busybody looking over my shoulder as I shopped. What's the difference between selling me feeder fish over tetras? They're both live fish. What if I hadn't mentioned the turtle? This guy was acting like I was an undercover cop trying to bust him for selling me 3/4" fish that my turtle may or may not get a hold of some day. This was the 2nd time I've gone into this Petco. On both occasions I was not greeted when coming in. This last time I stopped in to see if they had any grown cat grass and the lady who was only doing a planogram acted like I was stopping her from completing her project. All I did was ask if she knew if there was anywhere else besides the front registers. Yes those of us that are working are stressed and getting yelled at because our bathroom our closed etc but all I did was ask if there was any cat grass. This location is closer than the petsmart to my house which is why I keep trying to go in. We all have bad days but please let not make your bad day create a bad day for your customers read more

So, we took our pup in for a little pampering today. Our Petco PSA, Autumn, was amazing! She was very polite and welcoming us soon as we checked in. She took down the dogs info, and quickly broke down in detail what the package entailed and her recommendations for him as well. She was very knowledgeable and very accommodating right off the jump. Hours later, we get a call from Autumn that our pup was ready to be picked up. Came in looking like a dirty rag, and came out looking brand new. He looked great, and smelled good too. Exactly what we had in mind. Autumn knocked it out the park! She gave us a little report card on how well he did, and it was the best report card I've ever received from a pet place. Very detailed report, and gave helpful tips on grooming and caring at home. Of course, our pup passed with flying colors, A+! I would definitely recommend this Petco grooming center to anybody who loves their pets. I would also suggest Autumn as your pets very own PSA, as she was very good and detailed in all aspects of her work! Hats off to Autumn and the kind folks at this Petco on Marks St! read more

This is one of the Petco's I used to frequent when I lived in the SE area of town, mainly so I could get Halo Spot's Stew dry food for my Blue Russian cat. All Petco's are pretty much the same, and I wish I could go to At Your Service Pet Supply for it, but they don't carry the specific flavor she will eat. She is a picky bitch and will ONLY eat the seafood medley dry food. I have tried giving her other brands and other flavors and she literally yells at me and acts as if I am trying to kill her. I will continue to go to this location, mostly when I am on the way to Costco, but only because they are the only ones in town that regularly carry this brand of food. read more

Some of the staff is very nice and helpful. This makes some visits quick and easy. Other visits... we wait 10 minutes plus just to get acknowledged. We can go to the cashier and have assistance paged for us, no luck. For a chain pet store, this seems par for the course. We go back because they have good prices for the feeder crickets we regularly need. And despite these long waits, sadly, it is still better to go out of the way to this location than some of the other pet stores around our house. read more

After the groomer (Amber) and I both agreed and spoke on the phone for 10 mins prior to our pups services.. we wanted: a wash and trim over her current style and specifically mentioned to leave the puff around her nose and not to mess with her eyelashes and brows too much since that's what makes her unique and feminine *I'll let the pictures speak for themself* She came out exactly how we DID NOT want her to look like, and opposite what we discussed. When I expressed my frustrations, 3 different people (including the store manager Kathy) they all had the audacity to gather around and tell me my dog wasn't the breed I suggested she was... totally disregarding the initial complaint: you didn't style the dog the way we discussed. Then, stood & listened to the groomer try to convince me that the puppy store we purchased her from 3 months ago were the ones that messed up her haircut. WHAT/HOW? It was asked of you to trim her current style- the style we purchased her with and brought her home with, and entrusted you to do a simple trim. But instead you decided to give her the haircut you wanted, cut the exact part of her face I asked NOT to cut. Regardless of what breed (you think) she is, I asked for a specific style and you all took it amongst yourselves to do the complete opposite of what was requested from you. There is definitely a lack skill in following directions & customer service basics. I will NEVERRRRRR recommendation, bring my dog here or patronize any other PetCo in the future. Have been taking my 14 year old Yorkie to Brandy at the Marks and Sunset location for 2+years! No medical issues. Made an appt on the 14th of this Month for today 12/17/2017 @ 11am and upon arriving Brandy greets us at the counter. I explained that Lola had just went potty and had poop stuck to her behind, and at that time she asked me how old she was?(again been seeing "Brandy" for 2+years every other month) To which she the tells me..."I am sorry, we can't groom her, we just changed our policy"...no one ever said that over the phone when I made the appt, and I called 30mins prior to CONFIRM appt! She was unprofessional and extremly rude! But to turn away a 2+ year customer a week away from Christmas because they had poop on their behind is beyond unprofessional! Not to mention the "manager" Sammi who also was extremely rude and left me standing there for 30 mins while her and Brandy collaborated a story to cover their own asses after I told them I was going to report them to corporate! If in fact their policy did change, the professional thing would have been to inform me that this would be the last time they could groom her due to her age. read more

I have never had a problem at any petco, I love petco, but this particular petco I will never go to again unless they do something about their cashiers. I went in to buy a basking bulb for my bearded dragon. The price on the shelf was 9.99, but when I got to the register it came up 10.49. Now first of all I don't care about the 48 cents, I'm not going back for 48 cents. It's a matter of how the cashier acted towards me that I'm writing this. I already know how it works having done customer service for over 14 yrs, complaining to the store manager won't matter. Behind closed doors they get a slap on the wrist at most. A bad review is the only thing that gets noticed. Let me say first off, when I walked up to the register I was told by a cashier who was just standing around which register to go to, and I did. I waited while the cashier and the male she was talking to put each other's phone numbers into thier phones, then I waited while they talked about him bringing coffee and her saying how excited she was. Finally she looked at me and pointed to a register behind her saying, I'm at that register. So I walked around telling the first cashier (who was still doing nothing) that I was told to go to the other register, which she just smiled and nodded. Now I waited at t h at register while the first cashier was talking to another cashier, and the cashier talking to the make was still talking. Finally she came over, rang me up and I told her I thought the shelf said 9.99, but apparantly I interrupted her, since she was still talking to the male, because she said with an attitude and a smhile, "Those are the 50 watt basking bulbs, they are expensive". So if that wasn't bad enough she felt the need to try to make me feel stupid by saying, "Well I can check it again", and she grabbed the bag, pulled out the bulb and scanned it again, as if showing a child how mechanical things work. She then said, "See? It still says 10.49." Why wouldn't it still say 10.49? Did the register magically fix itself? She couldn't be bothered with checking the shelf because she was too busy talking and being on her phone so she choose trying to embarrass the customer? So I just decided to leave rather than get in a heated argument over 48 cents, and also I thought it's possible I read it wrong. However when I got home I remembered I had sent a picture to my husband of the shelf and bulbs to make sure I got the right bulb. Guess what?! The picture shows the price of the bulb at 9.99. Now I didn't get her name before I left but the receipt says Kathy, so I'd just like to say shame on you Kathy, for trying to shame a customer into leaving so you could continue your talk about coffee and exchanging of phone numbers with your new male interest, you give good cashiers a bad name. I've been going to this Petco location since 2019 and I love it when it comes to grooming service and I even had my pup attended his puppy traning here. They've always been helpful however, they disappointed me today bigtime. I set an appointment for my pup at 3:30 pm through the app and I decided to reschedule it at 12:00 pm few days later 'cause I want him to go earlier. I got an update a day before that the time is confirmed via text and email so it was cool I thought all was set and very convenient. So when my husband dropped my pup off today they said "oh you cancelled it. We don't see your appointment" so my husband showed the text and email confirmation they just said "sorry we don't have it here there's nothing we can do about it". How inconsiderate it is that your email confirmation and text will not suffice that you have an actual appointment? This is very disappointing!! What's the sense of confirmation if you're gonna turn down a service and not actually care? So now I'm calling them to make sure that my dog has an appointment for next week so I don't get turned down again but you can never talk to anyone just a voicemail. I hope they step up on customer service because it's getting ridiculous! read more

This one star is only towards one of the I am assuming managers here.. she has short brown hair and is very very very RUDE. My boyfriend and I come to this petco very often I have a 10g fish tank, a 5.5g, and two bettas. He has a 40g, a 29g and two bettas as well so we know our fair share about fish info. No, We actually know A LOT. She recognises us too because we are always there. Anyways every time we come here she has to ask " what size is your tank?!" Or she has even kept me from getting fish because I was "over crowding my tank" which I was not. And this is coming from someone who told me straight up " I know nothing about fish" there have been times when she would refuse to sell me fish because she thinks I don't Know how to take care of it! Same with bettas, my boyfriend was buying his brother a betta and they were asking each other about the betta fix medicine, as she butts in and says " you guys are over thinking this whole fish thing just throw them in water, they'll be fine" like uh no we like to take good care of our fish. There have been a couple more times this lady has made herself come off as a real bitch. If you ever attend this petco make sure LAURA gets your fish for you. She's awesome! I'd give her 10 stars if I could! And she knows so much about fish! I love her! I have read a lot of terrible reviews about petsmart and petco and I'm pretty sure corporate doesn't care and will not do anything so I am solely doing this to warn everyone about this lady. I have a very healthy 10g tank full of platy's and two catfish(: I also have a healthy hamster, two healthy bettas, two Perfect blue shrimp and 3 tetras in my 5.5g. I was helped by 2 different guys that were both awesome and went out of their way to help me- wish I would've gotten their names. They also price matched the sale price online for my specific item, was regularly 79.99 and I got it for 34.99! Had to do a shoot that involved fish, so went here to grab some cheap carnival flusher fish ( no not their real name but , you know which kind i mean) Any who made my way around the store not seeing a soul, it was 12:30pm so it's not like i was early, just found it kind of odd. Made my way to the back of the store to the fish section still no one. Thought perhaps I missed the rapture again or the crew was held up by a hooligan. She gets to scooping then shows me the bag o fish. well this is more than 10 as if it's my fault she over counted. Take II, i finally get my 10 fish and start to walk to the cash register , then she udders "you gotta pay for em" guess she thought I was one of those high dollar fish thieves you hear so much about. Made it to the register one cashier who is shooting the breeze with a regular which is all good but not if you have a long line. Finally the 2nd register opens, the card reader wasn't working to which i figured out after 2 swipes i told the cashier she said well too bad you have to go to the other line i was in a big rush. 2 of my fish bit the dust before the shoot even happened and another one this afternoon. So in conclusion i have been to better places the workers need to be a tad more polite. read more

Yesterday was my first time in this Petco, and it won't be my last. The employees here are terrific! Katie went out of her to help me and my fiance out, and the cashier was a doll. Everyone fussed over my Fur Babies, and they're selection of Fur Baby products was amazing, and both my Fur Babies got spoiled. LOL I made two trips here yesterday, and I'll be making more. read more
