(so now two times no record of his day) .... 7 hours with no snack at all in a busy day of running around is long enough that I'd think there would be someone who knows what's up. Like a note book. SERVICE haa changed at least since winter for my buddy, and I sure do not want him to just be a number....and iso, f you take yours there for day care, be sure to ask questions and hope someone has at LEAST a note in some sort of daily file. Our lab is high energy, full of love, playfulness, and equal amounts of being ornery. That mixed with bringing home a brand new baby wasn't going to work. So we did some research and came across this program. After speaking with Tommy, he took the time to explain the program and why they do what they do. It put me at ease to know that our sweet pup would be in the hands of people who actually care. He will still be loved and cared for alongside his training program. While in training, we got constant pictures, videos, and updates of our pup from our trainer Amanda. That helped put our hearts at ease as we missed him every day! We saw things he was working on with the trainer, how he was responding and even got to see pictures and videos of them working with him in public at public venues that allow dogs. We got to see his progress and see that he was well taken care of and treated with love and care. We chose the 2 week training program with boarding, and even though It was hard to leave our pup for 2 weeks, it was the best decision we ever made!!! When boarding the dogs, they are well cared for. They are kept clean, healthy and have special attention time outside of just training. They also allowed us to come to the facility to work with our pup when his training was over. This was to teach us all the ins and outs of what he had learned, and have the trainers guidance as we worked our pup on the different commands. When we welcomed our pup back home after his training, we couldn't have been more impressed! He was still our sweet and loving high-energy puppy, but he had control! He listened to commands, we were able to create boundaries at home, he no longer jumped on us but could be excited and contain himself. He was a brand new dog, but yet still the sweet, fun-loving dog we knew! Most importantly, he was gentle and easy with our newborn baby girl. We no longer worry if he is going to jump on us as we are carrying her or jump on the furniture when we are sitting with her. Instead, he sits next to us or walks alongside us as her protector. One of the best parts of this training is knowing that we have lifetime support from K9 Solutions. When you do a board and train, you will get lifetime support from them to do refresher courses if needed. It is so reassuring to know that if we need additional help, they will be there for us at no additional charge! If it wasn't for Tommy's confidence in his program and reassurance that our pup would come back the same pup but better, I don't know what we would have done. I could tell the love that Tommy had for what he does and that was all I needed to know. Our trainer Amanda was phenomenal! You can tell she is a pro and natural at what she does! And you can tell she loves what she does! Her love, care, and commitment to the pups she is training is evident and we couldn't be more thankful to her for all she did for our pup! She even did an at home check with us 2 weeks after brought him home to make sure there was no regression! The Tom Rose School is a complete fraud. My partner and I moved across several states specifically…read morebecause the school advertised itself as a place to train directly with Tom Rose. However, when my partner, toured the school last spring, it had already been sold and placed under new ownership and instructors. This crucial detail was never disclosed--then or now. Tom Rose is rarely involved with the school, yet they continue to exploit his name and reputation to mislead prospective students. Meanwhile, tuition has been increased, courses shortened, and important parts of the curriculum removed. The misrepresentation doesn't end there. They advertised Tom as a head instructor however, Tom met the students for lunch the first week and came to the school once to do a demo, and the methods he demonstrated were vastly different from what is currently being taught. Students no longer have access to the Tom Rose Ranch--this class toured it once, and that was it. In the past, students were taught pet first aid and CPR, but this class didn't receive that training. I feel this school has grossly misrepresented itself to both students and the VA. The new owners lack the knowledge, experience, and competence to run a program like this. They advertise job placement and claim to teach business and marketing for dog trainers, but none of this is true. Graduates leave with no assistance finding work, and the business and marketing training is practically nonexistent. The training methods taught here are outdated, excessively harsh, and unethical. The school relies heavily on compulsion training, emphasizing "yank and crank" corrections with prong collars and e-collars. To prevent exposure of their aggressive practices, students are prohibited from recording during class. I've personally seen dogs broken down, with tails between their legs, and many of them are just puppies. Some dogs are malnourished and treated poorly, I've witnessed puppies being subjected to e-collar corrections set dangerously high and other aggressive means of corrections. Whether the dog is a pet, a future service animal for a veteran, or a potential working dog for law enforcement, they are all treated with the same harsh methods. This school is nothing more than a cash grab, riding on the coattails of Tom Rose's name and legacy. It has misrepresented itself to students, veterans, and the VA. If you're considering this school--especially as a veteran using VA benefits--don't waste your time, money, or effort. There are far better programs out there that are ethical, transparent, and genuinely dedicated to dog training.
