I mainly shop for fish, The guy who normally is working in the fish area is amazing and helpful. The fish are priced properly and labeled correctly (unlike Tropical World Pets) The fish tanks are always clean. Highly recommend if you want fish. read more

GROOMING REVIEW: Took both of our Goldendoodles here to get groomed. The first one has wavy hair so it always turns out good and seems easier but the second has more poodle hair and gets mats very easy. Most groomers will basically just buzz him. We were really impressed with the time and care they spent on him. He turned out great for how shaggy and matted he was. Great job! P.S: we did the hot oil treatment for mats so that may of been the difference I will definitely be coming back. read more

I would like to say that every good review always ensures additional good reviews. But sadly, some do not. As i have posted in the past, these guys were my rock stars. It was the first time a big store gave rather personal service. Today that all changed. Things have been closed related to Covid, and i understood. I have had my Dogs scheduled and have had them call me to request to cancel as they were overwhelmed. I have 3 big Akita's and they take time. I again understood and allowed them to be cancelled. I had rescheduled again for today. Recently i had a series of unfortunate mishaps. My husband had to have shoulder surgery and i recently broke my leg Today, my son-in-law stepped in and drove them up. As he arrived, he was asked to step outside as other clients are there (and let's face it.. my Akita's are good dogs but we don't temp bad behavior. Dogs are dogs). My son in law waited outside for about 15 minutes letting traffic clear out. He again informed them that he was there for an appointment. She asked when it was, he said he wasn't sure if it was 12:30 or 1:00pm.(he was filling in for us) she told him he was late and they were "too tight" to take them now. My son-in-law in turn came home. I called the store to try to find answers. First, phone routing system hung up on us 5 times. Finally reached a live person who kept telling me that she was a lowly peon. She has to hunt a store manager down Who can talk to me. Alex "the manager" finally called back. He let me know that he was also in grooming and was tending to other dogs. That is why he couldn't talk to me. But he heard from the other groomer that the Akita's arrived late. And he stated this" Ma'am.. it doesn't matter if you are 10 minutes late, 25 minutes late, or 2 minutes late. Late is late and we are too tight to take your dogs. So there you go folks. Big box is always just that... big box. I have been going there religiously for 10 years now... but will never go back. Not sure how they could be so tight given that my 3 big Akita's were supposed to be on schedule. And were no longer there. I wish i could give a negative zero read more

I'm giving 3 stars since it doesn't seem like I can review just the grooming section. The store is good, clean and the staff and trainers are friendly. I took my dog in for a grooming here for the first time. As this is only my third time taking my pup to the groomer, I know I'm inexperienced at communicating what kind of haircut I want, so I will acknowledge some misunderstanding could be from my end; however, the nice lady repeated back and confirmed what I wanted. When I pick him up later, it was not at all what I wanted. The few people I've shown pictures of him have laughed or said I should have asked for a refund. It's just hair. It'll grow back. By no means is it the end of the world, but when it's pricy (you'd think a big box store groomer would be cheaper), you'd think you'd get better quality. read more

Every time we go here, they never have what we need. We ask questions of the staff and they just blow us off with a snarky answer, like it was a bother to them. So we will no longer be bothered by Petco again, and take our money to Petsmart!! read more

I had to go in here again today because I was there and needed food for the babies. There was not one cart to be found....not one....so I grabbed a hand basket and grabbed up a couple of quick cans of cat food and decided that my dog had enough food in his bin to last a few more days as I wasn't going to lug a huge bag of food around the store. We had to surrender our female rat after her cage mate passed. We were very saddened to give her up but the employees at Petco made us very comfortable by showing us that she was in good hands. They reassured us that they would be able to find her a good home. You can feel that the staff really care about animals in the same way we do and we are so appreciative of that. read more

Gotta love a chain that backs local groups and this place certainly delivers. They let us have a corner of the back of the store for pet adoption events every Saturday. The staff usually stops by to chat and offer a treat for the dogs, so nice of them! I end up shopping here quite a bit since I'm here for 5 hours every saturday anyway. Their prices are consistently higher than Petsmart but you do get quite a few coupons and reward dollars if you shop smart. read more

LOVE PETCO!!!! Our poor lil' guy Truman Dog was having some itching issues. We spoke to Pete at the store and recommended a natural food that was pricey, but guaranteed to eliminate the itching. Sure enough this did the trick. As long as we make sure to avoid giving our dog table scraps we're good. Our Vet didn't even come up with this solution? The store is also clean and the rest of the staff is helpful as well. read more

The staff is wonderful. Kota is a 95 pound, crabby, old German Shepherd. He is not always easy to work with, but the employees here did a great job with him. He came out looking gorgeous. read more

The staff are very knowledgeable about the different pets they have. I was able to return a bag of cat food my cat didn't like and no questions were asked. They were able to point me in a better direction to try different food which he liked better. read more

I usually have an okay experience, but today I went for a couple of fish I'd been planning on getting for a large tank with a few aggressive species. I asked for the larger of the fish and walked away to look for the next fish. The guy had given me the two smallest ones in the tank and when I asked if he could get me the larger ones like I asked he said, "well it's already out of the tank so it's yours." So once you bag the wrong fish, I automatically have to buy it? I got tired of arguing and explaining that they would be eaten in my tank so I went to the front to check out and even the cashier said, "holy cow those are tiny." So i explained to her the situation and she just said, "well you get to watch them grow." So I'm setting up an emergency tank now to let these guys grow up separate from anyone that might hurt them. I should have just turned and walked out, but it's the only store I could find this fish at. But they don't have to worry about me coming back. Or any of my hobbyist friends. read more

They did a good job on my Rowdy. The only thing the groomer forgot to get his hair from inside one paw. I get guess he was getting Rowdy when she got to the 4th paw. Otherwise he was so soft and fluffy and clean. Thank You for taking care of my fur baby. read more

This place is awesome! The staff is supernice & very helpful! I came in here trying to find indestructible cat toys & waterproof toy mice for my brother's cat (Gus). One employee gave me some helpful advice. She told me that there is no such thing as indestructible cat toys, and she found 3 nylon mice that Gus could dip into his water bowl. Just got new puppy and needed some good choices on food, toys, and treats. Connie, one of the sales associates was on her game! VERY helpful and full of knowledge. Gave several recommendations... explained and showed us why certain brands are good or bad. Not a SALES pitch and not the idk answers. It was very refreshing to get this kind of help and we will def be using Petco again in the future bc of the assistance and knowledge of Connie we received. Only thing I would say is the cashier could of been a lil happier she seemed depressed lol read more

This is quite possibly the worst Petco I've ever been in. The difference between this and the Arnold, MO Petco that I normally visit is like night and day. We went in here for the first time to get some mopani wood for our 20G and 5G tanks. We incorrectly assumed that since it was so much bigger, it would be much nicer. That was not the case. This place is a total mess. The isles look like they haven't been zoned in weeks and the floors and shelves are dirty. The aquatics section is a complete disgrace. The tanks are FILTHY and many of them are open on top as the doors have broken off of the displays. The bettas are dying and in horrible shape. The lights are burnt out in most of the tanks and nothing that is actually on the shelf is in the right place. It's CLEAR that the employees here don't give two shits about their store of the animals in it. Even the people running the pet adoptions when we went in were snotty, with one older woman doing nothing but talking about why no one wants one of the cats to adopt (and why they shouldn't want him). At one point, a young girl began removing a cat from a cage and someone asked if she was adopting him. "Uh, NO, he's ours. We're FOSTERING him," she sneered. Just an absolutely terrible experience... I'm torn between going to back to buy a betta just to save it's life and between never returning so that the store doesn't get any more of my money. I would NOT suggest going here if you have the option. read more

I sign up for obedience dog class with "Russ" and just want share the great experienced I had with this place and "Russ" who was very patient and great attitude And helping my difficult dog to know all basic command which I can't believe that My dog can do all of that very well now. I have been in there numerous times for our animals and usually have a decent experience. However, the person who usually helps us must have been promoted to manager and when it came time for our dog to not like the top of the line dog food we bought, he refused to help us return it because we didn't have the packaging-even tho we ALWAYS use our petco rewards when purchasing anything. I am sure they could have worked with us, especially since I am in there almost weekly. I won't be returning to their store. read more

When I need pet supplies, I normally stop at this location because it is on my way home from work. I have a very small gecko that does best on the wingless fruit flies as most crickets sold are too big for him. I stopped by this location several weeks ago to purchase a container of the fruit flies. They had three containers on the shelf. All three were dead or mostly dead. I ended up having to go to another location. I stopped by the Fenton location again last night on my way home from work and again, there were three containers on the shelf... all three were dead and looked very old as the material inside was black. I have to wonder if they are the same three that I saw before. I talked to the person working that department and asked when another delivery would be in and he said it would be at least a couple of weeks. It bothers me that no attention is paid to the live food on the shelf and the person really didn't seem to care about the problem. Thanks to my time being wasted at this location, by the time I reached another store, they were already closed due to closing early on New Years Eve. I ended up not being able to get the food I needed for my gecko and of course they are closed today. Clearly I will just have to go out of my way to go to another location from now on. read more
