It's an OK place. Personally I don't like seeing animals in cages. They were small mammals, birds, and reptiles. Fish in a tank don't really bother me as long as you're being taken care of. The place is pretty well stocked. I wish they had a few more cat toys but other than that they have a good selection of food. Doesn't look like the grooming place is open anymore. read more

Petco is a horrible place. They are unable to take care of their animals correctly, unkempt, and overall a very unwelcoming atmosphere. Each time I step foot into Petco I see unhealthy/stressed looking animals and unprofessional habitats. One, their birds always seem tense and anxious. I went in today and seen a bird pulling off his feathers from his body. Two, their fish tanks constantly have fish corpses in them and the breeds do not match the stickers presented on the tanks. Three, their beta fish show to be depressed, cuasing them to not be able to swim correctly. I have seen many other pet stores in my life, such as tropic waters, that do a way better job of maintaining their animals. Keep in mind, maintaining animals is not just feeding them. It is ensuring their happiness, comfortably, and health. read more

After having excellent grooming for the past 5 years in Green Valley, AZ I made a grooming appointment in Eau Claire, WI. I took my 7 pound mix in on July 9, 2025. within an hour I get a phone call telling me she is at the Eau Claire Animal hospital. The groomer shaved her so close to the flesh that she clipped her dewclaw. when I arrived at the animal hospital I was informed by the veterinarian that her dewclaw was so mangled it would need to be amputated. She not only had her dewclaw amputated but cuts on her body from the shaver. I had asked for a trim as we keep the fur at 1/2 in to 3/4 inch, clearly the groomer ignored my instructions. I have requested a call from Petco and a copy of the store video if they have one. So far no response by them. I just called and spoke with Adam, the young employee who brought her to the animal hospital. I was told the woman is still grooming in Eau Claire. A scary thought! Would I ever recommend EC Petco, NO. Use caution if you take your dog there. read more

Manager seemed irritated from the start, even though Petco offers walk-in services for nail trims. After she finally completed their registration and took the dogs back, she returned both of them as being too difficult to trim. Both of my dogs have been to groomers all of their lives. This store sells animals, such as a bearded dragon for $99.99 ( which lets be honest your mill run reptiles shouldn't even be sold for $30 but that's neither here nor there ) BUT you're keeping them on the floor when they have OBVIOUS health conditions. This dragon, I'll attach photos. CLEARLY has multiple things wrong with it but for anyone inexperienced even they could see THE LIPS OF THE ANIMAL are chapped, ran down, bleeding and sores crossing over the wounds. The animal is inside of a nice sized enclosure SURE but minimal enrichment, no proper basking spot, no proper UVB, no proper hide and you want to sell a VISIBLY sick animal for $99.99? A customer brings it to employee's attention, requests manager and MANAGER SAYS " nothing we can do " customer offers to rescue and rehabilitate animal and INSTEAD you remove it from the floor & put it in the back where it is not receiving adequate lighting, UVB and care? This animal NEEDS A VET, needs to be dewormed, needs antibiotics and wound care medications and you're more worried about making the $$ off of a sick animal? People like YOUR STAFF makes me sick, put the animal first not your selfish needs or wants. I will continue to blast your store and every animal inside and call the local humane society every single day until you do the right thing by this animal and ANY OTHER reptile that is obviously sick. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON PROPER HUSBANDRY FOR YOUR REPTILES!!! read more

Petco return policy states can return most items with 30 days of purchase with valid proof of purchase. Do not try and return any product even within days of purchase without a receipt. They don't have access to look up your transactions on your card like most retailers. They won't accept your bank statement showing the transaction. Bought a $50 product that's defective and we are just out the money. Won't give store credit or anything. Store manager amber was kind and understanding but regional or district manager very rude and not explanatory of the process and didn't care at all. read more

I took my boyfriends dog in for grooming. ( It was at my request as I'm not big on dog smells and she sheds huge amounts of fur daily. ) She is a big dog. Half Golden Retriever and half Chow and has what it is referred to as a double coat. They spent hours with her getting her combed and blown out. She also had matted back legs. ( her coat is beautiful when she is done but a nightmare when it's not ) while it was a bit on the expensive side ( $120-$130 ) it was also necessary and she looked beautiful when I picked her up and she smelled lovely. I recently took my little Yorkie to the groomer at Petco. They have groomed him many times in the past with no issues. This time they said they'd never groom him again because he nipped at the groomer. My little guy isn't a biter and the vets and anyone that comes in contact with him always remark about what a calm sweet little guy he is. I talked to the head lady in that department and she had all sorts of excuses for the groomer, and said that my pup had a few issue in the past with not wanting his front legs touched. I was never told that, and its never been an issue with other groomers. The groomer shaved his legs right down, even though I always leave a picture of how he's to be groomed...and his legs are always to be left a little longer. That may have been the issue, that he simply wasn't groomed the way he's used to be groomed. Their condescending attitude when my boyfriend picked him up for me, the fact that they trimmed his legs very short when they had a picture showing the hair longer, and the fact that he was "screaming" as I was told...leads me to reach out on Yelp and warm people to NOT use these groomers. My sister said she'd taken her dog there a while back and he was so traumatized that he's never been the same. Like I said, I've taken him there before...but all it takes is one bad experience...and a bad one if my little Yorkie was screaming...to say NEVER AGAIN will you touch my dog!! read more

Over the years I had purchased many items from Petco and have been truly shocked at how high the prices at the Eau Claire store are compared to other Petco stores and their competitors. Currently, I will never find out if they lower their prices, as I have completely stopped going to the store. We hope to begin a rescue, as well as foster dogs in our new home and need affordable products as the high prices add up to a dog's life. The animals come first to us, but not to Petco. Sad. Beware that the staff are extremely lazy folk. Went there to get some crickets for my lizard, saw them in the holding cell in the front of the store, asked the store attendant to package them... then I was met with extreme attitude, and was told they didn't have any crickets. I had just seen hundreds of them in the cage! I informed him that I had just seen them, and he said "I told you we don't have any." He was outright telling a "un-truth". He then proceeded to walk over to the dog treats and, I guess, even them out or something. We just went over to Pet Smart across the street, and have been going there ever since for our lizard, fish, and dog supplies. No one deserves the hassle you get from the Petco folks. read more

Me and my dog, Chester, came into the store today so my dog can do his shopping. The store was very clean and attractive to me and my dog. There were several toys for him to choose. The clean up supples were hard to find due to there was no sign to easy recognize it, but the store can do better on that. The service was all up front and very little communication between the customer and the service. The service should work on relating better to the customers. That was one thing the store was lacking on service. I was also looking for goggles for my dog and that was not available at the store. They told me it was available online and they didn't suggest in placeing an order through the store to get it. When I checked out, the server did not say hi to my dog, nor made any friendly gesture to him. She checked me out and thanked me for my business. Most servers that work at Petco usually say hi to both me and my dog. They usually communicate to the customers and their pets. They also try to help the pets pick out a toy. I had shopped here before and recieved that, but this time, me and my dog did not. They need to work on that. The high ratings are on the store itself being clean, organized, and well displayed. The service I give is a 2. Come on servers, next time do better. read more

Inexperienced staff- girl in grooming came at my dog abd tried to touch her ear too fast and surprised my poor little 10lb fuzzball who was already anxious from being in a new place. Didn't even let my dog sniff her hand or anything. When my dog reacted with surprise, the girl said they wouldn't take her and that we should find a place that would muzzle her. We've gotten her groomed for over 6 years with no muzzle, thank you. Maybe you should think about greeting the dog before you just start grabbing her. Never coming back. read more

We've taken our English Bulldog to the Eau Claire Petco 3 times for grooming and are extremely pleased with the results. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Our dog is remarkably fluffy and clean after being groomed and his wrinkly face and ears are super clean. I was very pleased the first time his nails were cut as the Petco tech sanded the edges a bit so they wouldn't scratch our wood floors. The tech also cleans the dog's back-end glands, an unpleasant task, I'm sure.....but to have the vet do this, we'd have to pay around $40 just for the office visit alone. I recommend Petco! read more
