Never have I had a better experience with a vet! These folks care! I can't say enough about how friendly and supportive they are!

Brakken Veterinary Clinic

Brakken Veterinary Clinic

My family has used Dr. Brakken since the clinic opened, multiple dogs, cats & ferrets have lived…read moreentire lives under her care. Though the clinic has grown with time, adding another full-time vet, the service is always personal and complete. Everything is explained fully, options are explored to make an informed decision as to the course of treatment which is best for your pet and your family. The fees are reasonable and the service excellent. You are as involved in your pet's treatment as you wish to be (some people don't like to see blood draws or even claw trimmings--you don't have to if you don't want to.) I'm on my second diabetic cat, and after 6 months we are seeing if he can be taken off of insulin. When my eldest male cat (15) was brought in by a neighbor, deathly ill, I was contacted as soon as they scanned his chip because they knew how important he was too me, and that I would be likely to want to save him if possible. When it turned out that he could not be saved, he and I made the decision to euthanise immediately to avoid prolonging his suffering. The vets and staff were very supportive in helping me make and implement this painful but necessary decision. He was peacefully and painlessly assisted while I held him on my lap and said goody. When my parent's elderly beagle became ill, and we were unable to find a cause for several months, when it became obvious that she was failing her illness was pared down to 2 possibilities, both of which were incurable, I monitored her quality of life for several weeks until it was obvious that she was no longer a happy beagle (a beagle dragging it's tail between it's legs i a very unhappy beagle!) When I took her in to be euthanized, Dr. Brakeen and staff were very sensitive to my feelings and my dog was quietly and peacefully assisted in a quick and painless death. Dr. Brakken always listens to whatever research I've found regarding aliments of y animals, and does a good job of researching anything she's not already familiar. In 57 years of owning pets, there is only one vet I have had who might surpass Dr.Brakken--but only because she was willing to make a 30 mile trip out to vaccinate my cats...and she left practice to teach at the UW-Madison Veterinary Hospital. I wholeheartedly recommend Brakken to anyone who cares about their animals as part of their family--they will receive treatment with every bit as much consideration (maybe more) than your family doctor.

We love our vet. The Brakken Vet clinic has been fantastic to our current and former pets (both…read morecats and dogs). Friendly, knowledgeable care with a great, caring staff. While I wish they promoted more natural care, I trust them with my furry friends. Dr Brakken is very good and gives solid advice. A great, trustworthy veterinary clinic.

Allied Veterinary Emergency & Referral

Allied Veterinary Emergency & Referral

On August 16th, I brought my cat, Fluffy, to Allied Emergency Hospital. Unfortunately, my overall…read moreexperience left me very disappointed, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. We spent nearly the entire day waiting for her to be seen. While I understand the hospital was busy, it felt as though our situation did not receive the level of attention and care it should have. My primary impression was that the focus seemed to be more on financial matters than on Fluffy's well-being, which was very discouraging. At that visit, bloodwork was performed, medication was prescribed, and I was informed that Fluffy had stage 2 kidney disease. However, despite following the treatment plan--including gabapentin and an antibiotic injection--her condition did not significantly improve. On September 28th, we returned to another veterinarian, where it was discovered that Fluffy has a severe dental issue that could have been contributing to her health problems all along. It was disappointing to learn that this was not identified during her initial exam at Allied, despite the significant costs incurred over $1,000 during the first visit, and an additional $350 at the second clinic. What troubled me further was overhearing a staff member raise their voice at Fluffy during treatment. I recognize she can be a difficult patient at times, but she was unwell and undoubtedly scared. In my view, animals deserve patience and compassion in these moments, not frustration. Additionally, throughout the day, communication was poor. I often had to approach the front desk myself to ask for updates, as little information was provided proactively. For a pet owner already worried about a beloved family member, this lack of communication was very upsetting. At this point, not only am I emotionally distressed, but I am also financially overwhelmed with ongoing veterinary expenses, and Fluffy still requires additional care. I truly believe pet owners deserve to feel that their animals are in safe, compassionate hands, and sadly, my experience at Allied left me feeling the opposite. For these reasons, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hospital to others. I hope my feedback is taken seriously, as no family should feel that their beloved pet is treated as anything less than a valued patient. Sincerely, Marianne

When we spoke with the female doctor the next morning she told us that she had to add another exam charge for a whopping $4000.00. I could not believe it. How ridiculous can they get as far as GREED goes. I would not recommend EVER bringing your animal there. What they did there, I could have done for him at home and still had a bank account. Very disappointed. We will never go back. It isn't about animal healthcare, it is all about GREED!! Not to mention that Dr. Lien was beyond rude.
