This "obedience" school was a complete waste of time and more so, our money. The simple things we…read moresaid we wanted when we enrolled them was for our puppies to learn to stay, come when called, stop jumping up on us, stop pulling on the leashes when walking. It took a week for us to finally get them to write us daily progress reports (they normally don't give them until the end we were told! REALLY?!) Now we know why. Our dogs got worse after the classes, and none of what we asked for was at all accomplished! All we heard was, "they had so much fun interacting with other dogs, and playing, and running on the treadmill." We never asked for them to be trained on a damn treadmill and to play with other dogs. I came in one morning and found a dog UNATTENDED and leashed on the tread mill! If it had fallen there's no telling how bad it would have been hurt!! The excuse was it was one of the staff's dogs. So that makes it ok to leave it unattended?! Good thing it wasn't one of mine! One afternoon I had to take them home WET in the car because they were in the pool. No one bothered to dry them, so our car got all wet. We live on a lake. We didn't send our dogs to an expensive obedience school to play with other dogs and in a freakin' pool! They are full of excuses and justifications why our dogs are now WORSE when they get home than when they went. This is NOT an obedience school. This is a scam to take your money, placate and patronize you about how well your dog is learning. They want us to use shock collars with big dangerous probes tights against their necks because they can't do their jobs and train them. Now they don't come when they're called, won't get down when they jump up, won't stop dragging you on their leashes, and don't hardly even remember their names when we call them anymore. They were far more obedient before we sent them to this high priced (dis)obedience school. We paid for them to play everyday for two weeks!Hope I'm not too vague, but I am really pissed off to be taken advantage off by these unqualified scammers!

Barks and Rec took the time to get to know him, and manage his craziness. They are the first place that has not made my dog sound like a menace, and give me a positive report while also being honest about how he does. I love taking him there, and he always gets so excited to go!

I boarded my 2 dogs Lenny and Ozzie on June 9th to the 12th at Dogtopia in Eau Claire, WI. When I…read morepicked up my dogs Lenny had a cough. I was not notified he was sick. After a day at home he began having trouble breathing. My Vet was closed so I took him to Allied Emergency Vet services. Lenny now had Bronchial Pneumonia from kennel cough. Looking into previous reviews at Dogtopia this was not the first time this has happened. Lenny has had to spend 3 days in care on antibiotics and IV's at a cost of over $4000 dollars. So now it has cost me $500 for boarding and $4000 for urgent care. Evidence shows that the disinfecting practices and/or introduction of sick dogs into Dogtopia are a problem. I am very upset that I was not notified of Lenny being sick and now over $4000 in bills for a 3 day stay. I am sure other dogs got sick as well. After speaking with the Manager at Dogtopia all I got was "I am sorry". Not good! Kyle Adams Reached out to Dogtopia in Eau Claire for paperwork that was signed that has disclaimers for sickness contracted at the facility. To my surprise my signed paperwork has been destroyed. Got a copy to show my lawyer and it is currently under review. Dogtopia states that they sent an email on 5/24/23 and 6/1/23 to dog owners about kennel cough (Dog Influenza). Never received either email, but did get emails for conformation of boarding, invoice and on 6/2/23 a Happy Birthday for Lenny. Very curious! Kyle Adams Well the verdict is in and I picked up Lenny from urgent care and the bill was $5300. The Dogtopia paperwork says they are not responsible for any illness contracted at their facility and they are vigilant in cleaning and disinfecting so their could not be any negligence even though in the past cleaning fluids were left out for a dog to drink and was hospitalized. If I would have gotten any type of help other than I am sorry I would not be doing this. As it is you could be handed your dog back dead and and "I am sorry" is the courtesy you get. Kyle Adams

I am a veterinarian in Cumberland just a few miles away from Happy Tails. I have known Bonnie a…read morelong time as she worked with me at the veterinary clinic for several years. She left us to start this boarding facility as it had been her dream to have a pet boarding business. I want those reading this to know that she has loved dogs and cats forever. She taught me how to "baby talk" to dogs and cats at the vet clinic. She searched with me when my beloved Baxter went missing one winter and she cried with me when he was never found. My clients at the vet clinic knew Bonnie and loved Bonnie as much if not more than the veterinarians (me included :) ) My clients at the vet clinic take their dogs to Happy Tails with Bonnie and the owners come back with nothing but positive experiences. They love the one on one attention she gives to the dogs and cats that come to stay with her. Some of my clients tell me how Bonnie has a special room with a couch just for their couch-potato dog. I have tried to use Bonnnie's services in the past but I am a last minute planner and so she usually doesn't have anything available for me-totally my fault as I will contact her the day before I need to bring my dog in for a 3-4 day stay. But this last weekend she had room and boy was my England lucky. One thing to know about me is that even though I could leave my dog at the vet clinic that I have worked at for 10 years and love and trust, I don't because he would be in a kennel all day with minimal interaction. When I have left town with my family in the past I either bring our dog (and cats sometimes) with us or I have friends take him. So for me to take England to a kennel is a big deal. So this was my experience: I contacted Happy Tails about vacancy and talked to Bonnie right away. She emailed me forms which included one information sheet and two very simple/short pages to fill out. Due to timing and logistics, I ended up filling out the paperwork and taking photos of them along with my dogs vaccine records and texted the photos to her and she was happy with that. (I did bring in the hard copies when I picked my dog up). My husband took England in during break at work and he said the check in process was very quick and easy. After the 4 days I picked him up. This was after a busy weekend and the boarding building smelled great and looked clean. No dogs were barking. Yes, that's what I said-NO DOGS WERE BARKING. I don't know if that's normal but still impressive. And yes, I did walk through to see there were at least 10 dogs still boarding at that time. I think they get pretty tired out from playing all day. Bonnie had several stories to tell me about England's stay and his new best friends (Remi and Reba). She does a lot of doggy daycare so she is pretty good at figuring out which dogs will play well with each other. There are two outdoor play areas for the dogs to run around in along with several enrichment toys such as tunnels and slides. The dogs get potty breaks plus a long morning recess and afternoon recess when they play together outside. England is home now sleeping. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful and safe place to take my dog when I go out of town.
