I cannot believe how little Oakwood Hills Animal Hospital cares about animals…read more My 8-month-old Great Pyrenees puppy was seriously ill -- severe diarrhea, and his injured leg was completely non-weight-bearing. He was struggling to walk, and I was rushed and worried, doing my best to get him safely from his cage into the car. And let me be clear: it is not easy to lift and move an 80-pound injured puppy from a cage into a vehicle without causing more pain. That alone took time and care, but I still managed to get him there. When I arrived, I parked in the closest spot I saw in my panic, only to realize the entrance was down the hill. Even with all of that, I still walked in just two minutes past their "10-minute grace period." I understand having policies -- but where is the grace when it comes to a sick, injured puppy? Instead of compassion, Oakwood coldly turned him away. No flexibility. No care. Nothing. I then had to carry my 80-pound Great Pyrenees puppy back up the hill, in obvious pain, because they refused to let him see a veterinarian. What makes this even worse is that when we first set up this appointment, Oakwood specifically told us we wouldn't need to treat this as an urgent care or emergency visit unless it got worse. That assurance is the only reason we trusted them and went forward with the appointment. And when it mattered most, they abandoned us over a matter of two minutes. This is supposed to be an animal hospital. A true animal hospital would prioritize the health of animals over the clock. Oakwood has shown the opposite: their rules and image matter more than compassion, or the lives of the pets entrusted to them. If you love your animals, think twice before coming here. Oakwood Animal Hospital has proven to me -- painfully -- that they do not care about animals. And Oakwood -- please do not attempt to "reach out" to make this right. I have no interest in further communication with your clinic.

After a day at home he began having trouble breathing. My Vet was closed so I took him to Allied Emergency Vet services. Lenny now had Bronchial Pneumonia from kennel cough. Looking into previous reviews at Dogtopia this was not the first time this has happened. Lenny has had to spend 3 days in care on antibiotics and IV's at a cost of over $4000 dollars. So now it has cost me $500 for boarding and $4000 for urgent care. Evidence shows that the disinfecting practices and/or introduction of sick dogs into Dogtopia are a problem. I am very upset that I was not notified of Lenny being sick and now over $4000 in bills for a 3 day stay. I am sure other dogs got sick as well. After speaking with the Manager at Dogtopia all I got was "I am sorry". Not good! Kyle Adams Reached out to Dogtopia in Eau Claire for paperwork that was signed that has disclaimers for sickness contracted at the facility. To my surprise my signed paperwork has been destroyed. Got a copy to show my lawyer and it is currently under review. Dogtopia states that they sent an email on 5/24/23 and 6/1/23 to dog owners about kennel cough (Dog Influenza). Never received either email, but did get emails for conformation of boarding, invoice and on 6/2/23 a Happy Birthday for Lenny. Very curious! Kyle Adams Well the verdict is in and I picked up Lenny from urgent care and the bill was $5300. The Dogtopia paperwork says they are not responsible for any illness contracted at their facility and they are vigilant in cleaning and disinfecting so their could not be any negligence even though in the past cleaning fluids were left out for a dog to drink and was hospitalized. If I would have gotten any type of help other than I am sorry I would not be doing this. As it is you could be handed your dog back dead and and "I am sorry" is the courtesy you get. Kyle Adams

One was out of shampoon/conditioner the other filthy so I needed to clean it before using it - the collar to hold the dog was broken also. My dog food purchase for the the day with tax totaled 95.98. I am 80 years old and was (which is the first time ever) not asked to help carry out. It was raining and one of the clerks said (I was pushing the cart, purse and dog in hand) I will hold the door," I responded would you please bring in the cart, the response was leave it on the sidewalk I'll get it later. Concept is similar to a self serve car wash bay. There were two downsides. First, the vacuum was out of order. Second, there is no temperature adjustment for the water. It came out way too hot for our German shepherd and he overheated enough to make him throw up. The ability to adjust the temperature would have gone a long ways towards making him more comfortable during the wash. Not sure I would go back given the water temperature.

Patrice and Dr. Erin are just wonderful human beings and the peaceful, dignified and loving death they helped us give our little bean was everything. We were able to send him off in his comfy place at home with his favorite people... And Dr. Erin and Patrice fit in just like one of the family! We laughed and cried and hugged and at this moment, can't say enough thanks. :)

It all started about 7 days ago when I took my puppy in for a first time checkup, I had told the vet about my puppy's diarrhea, and and brought a stool sample. The next day got a call saying she had Giardia, and prescribed panacur-c and said it should be cleared up in a few days. Two more days pass and I see little improvement as well as extreme lethargy, less eating, and coughing, added to the symptoms list, which I called and asked if this was normal. They paid little attention to the coughing symptom and said I could come in and get an anti nausea and an antibiotic. The way he phone call seemed was that I could bring her in but in the end it shouldn't mater as long as she got the meds. I stared the meds and waited another day, and on Saturday night I could tell the issue was not being corrected, I called the vet at 1:30 am when I started to see my puppy going downhill and the coughing was still happening. I explained the symptoms again and asked if the coughing could be more serious, the vet told me she should be fine till Monday and to wait, it was probably stress related and also as long as there was no wheezing she wasn't concerned, at this time I told her I heard a crackling sound and struggled breathing, again this was shrugged off as nausea and stress. The impression I got was that I was being paranoid and over reacting about the symptoms. I wish she had told me if I thought the symptoms were bad enough that I could go to one of the animal hospitals that were open for urgent care. I waited a few more hours till Sunday since she was still eating, drinking, and had some energy. But on Sunday morning she stopped eating and drinking. At this point I started to panic more. I called the vet, at 10am who was on call only to be direct to a voicemail box of, "this mailbox is full and can not accept messages at this time, goodbye." After calling multiple times only to get the same mailbox being full I decided it was time to do something else and not wait till Monday. This was an emergency. I called every vet in Chippewa only to get the same voicemail again and again. I understand it's Sunday but emergency's happen anytime and any day. I got a quick response when I called Oakwood Hills Animal hospital in Eau Claire. They took her in within a half hour after explaining the same symptoms which I told Riverveiw animal hospital vet. At this time she was almost lifeless and unable to eat or drink. They were wonderful and took note of every symptom as well as taking her into intensive care immediately. They told me she had pneumonia, and a fever and she would have to stay overnight. They gave me a 50/50 chance of survival and shows me the x-rays of the damage. I leave her there overnight and hope for the best. Luckily the story has a happy ending, as of right now she has made extreme improvements, the vets there call me multiple times a day with updates as well as explaining every step of the treatment process. I'm told as of now I'll be able to take her back tomorrow and that they love how active and lively she is. While I have no complaints of the staff not being happy or friendly at Riverveiw animal hospital I can never forget the lack of being able to reach them in case of an actual emergency. I had asked the vet when I brought her in, "what happens in case of an emergency, or if I have questions in off hours?" Which she told me that in that case to call the Riverveiw animal hospital, get the number from the voicemail of the vet on call and call them. In my case that voicemail was full, the phone was shut off, and my puppy needed help. I'll never even consider taking her back there and I hope no one else has to ever experience the same panic or disparity I had with this practice. A caring and passionate vet would care about my concerns and not push me off till it works with their work day. If you're going to be on call, then please be available, or at the very least clear your voicemail out.

They were able to get us in fast when no one else could. The techs, receptionist & doctor were all helpful and sweet to us. Clean clinic too.
