I needed a last minute appointment for grooming and was able to get in at Petco. The online booking process was simple and easy. Nichole did a great job grooming my Yorkie and I plan to take him back. They also have a good rewards program. This is the first and last time I will ever take my Oliver to Petco... He got the worst haircut I have ever seen.... They left Chunks in his undercoat, basically like they just Tore it out. He was matted and a little bit bad but I believe with the 5 hours that they took for them to just shave him and tear out the undercoat and leave chunks missing out of his forehead they could have maybe lathered him up real good with some conditioner or something let it soften up and then comb it out since it did take them 5 hours.. After picking him up and his 20 minute ride home his heart was still racing when he got home. I will never ever take him or any other animal to them ever again and I will never recommend them to anyone.... I called spoke to the manager, her reply was, well he was matted and if you would just brush your dog more when you gave him a bath.... also she made the comment that hes a mixed breed... Really lady... Yes he is two pure breeds that they Specifically breed together to make him.. $65 dollars... what a shame ... read more

I've always been very pleased with the groomers at the PetCo in Council Bluffs. I've taken them to another pet store with a grooming department, but I almost had to drag my dogs in after they've been there one time. They love going to Petco so I know they're treated very well, and I have never been unhappy with the haircut any of my six dogs have received there. read more

They didn't listen to what I asked for my pups haircut. She does not lot good. And they asked me to leave a tip before seeing her. If I had seen her first I would not have tipped. read more

They did a real bad job giving my Aussie a haircut and trimming his nails they completely didn't do around his hind legs and they butchered one of his front nails to the point where it has turned black and possibly on the verge of losing it plus now I have to give him temperament drugs just to take him to the vet this business can go belly up will never go back read more

Went into this petco and was surprised by how much healthier all their tanks looked than the Omaha stores. I was actually greeted in the fish department shortly after arriving (which never happens at Omaha stores) he offered his help and let us know where he would be in the store if we needed Him. I would like to recognize Toby as being an amazing employee. He helped me out right away when I found the fish I wanted. Didn't even have to use a net which I absolutely love to see when catching delicate fish. I will definitely be coming back to this store before the Omaha stores. read more

Took my rescue in to be groomed. He'd been left outside for the last couple of years and hadn't been properly groomed so I didn't have alot of hope they could do much but shave him. They did end up having to do so but I appreciate that they exhausted all efforts first. He was treated very nicely and he came home looking handsome and so much cooler for the summer. read more

I buy my cichlids from this store. The employees that are in the aquatic area are pretty knowledgeable with some of them having their own fish and firsthand knowledge. Never had any problems and always have had good conversations with the full time employees. read more

Always a lot of dead fish in the tanks, went to look at the aquarium plants and no one was around, so I reached into the tank. Some one finally came around and told me not to put my hands in the tank they were battling black algae. Needless to say I won't buy plants there. To get help you have to wonder around for awhile and search for someone. It just wasn't worth the time to deal with. read more

Awful. We attended puppy play night with our 3-month puppy thinking it would be fun but it turned out the employee in charge spent the entire time choking and alpha rolling various dogs. It's one thing to break up some rough play and give puppies time outs, but this was completely over the top. Over and over, she grabbed dogs' collars, held them to the floor for extended periods, and had other dogs trample on them. Even the people who use corrections in training would generally agree that a group of less than 6 month puppies is the last place you want to start throw punches because it is so critical they have a well-controlled, positive experience. I really wanted to be open-minded and I asked her a few questions to learn from her, but she was crazy defensive. As the alpha rolls and choking escalated, I became worried what would happen if my dog did something she didn't approve of. Finally, I asked her to let me pull away my dog and give him a time out, should problems arise with my dog, because I just wasn't comfortable with pinning him to the floor. The employee literally started shouting at me that pinning them down is the only way to get them to play right and I should leave. It's sad that she was so defensive - it was clear at this point she was out of her element and acting on impulse and not rational training. Petco needs to vet its people better. The point of a puppy socialization group is to help your puppy learn good manners -- why would you risk turning your good dog into a fearful biter? Research on alpha rolls and choking is clear that it can elicit an aggressive response in dogs because they can increase the fear and arousal in the dog, especially in those that are already defensive. Check out American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's position statements if you are curious. You'll have a better puppy socialization experience at almost any other group in town and there ARE other options. It's like night and day from the puppy play you see at the Nebraska Humane Society groups on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. They have been awesome experiences every single time and I learn things from the other trainers and owners. I guess I'm done with Petco -- how convenient there is a Petsmart nearby. Ironically, when I asked the nearby Petsmart trainer if she used alpha rolls and choking in their puppy class, she responded incredulously, "of course not! they're puppies!" How telling. I am very, very happy with how my dogs were handled today at Petco. Both pups were washed, trimmed, and had their nails clipped in under an hour and a half. Then when I went to pick them up, they weren't crying or scared, like at Petsmart. And I was told that they took my Chihuahua, Watson, out of his kennel and played with him when they realized he was terrified of the kennel. I am one super happy pet momma right now. And they told me Watson and my lab, Abby, were perfect dogs during the grooming! Petsmart said they weren't the best, and they couldn't clip their nails all the way. So I will be getting my pups groomed at Petco from now on :) read more

I love this PetCo and ALL it's staff. I bring my girls in for grooming and they do a wonderful job. The staff treat my dogs like family. We have been coming for grooming for over 2 years and feel that I can trust my 2 Pomeranians (puppy mill survivors) with any and all of their grooming staff. We have also signed up for classes and have been going for about 6-8 weeks. Our trainer, Christine, has such compassion for dogs and knows exactly what she is doing. She has always explained why we are teaching them what we do. The positive training model she uses has made such an impact on them that we are seeing great progress at home. I appreciate the positive puppy socialization we get when we come to Petco. I also love the puppy play groups. It's nice to see all the pups interact and learn what it means to be a member of a pack. One reviewer made statements about "choking" and "alpha rolling" and I can tell you that I have been coming to this Petco for a long time and have never seen this behavior. Please try this place out and see for yourself what is real. It is a wonderful place and members of EVERY department are helpful (including management and aquarium staff) and have helped in the socialization of our fluffy balls of joy. They were not helpful at all. I witnessed an employee harass a group of teenagers who wanted to buy coral for a science project. Very disappointed with the service due to great prior visits. Definitely not going back to that one. read more
