They told me it would be $58 for everything and when I went to pick him up it was $65. They also felt his coat before they cut him and said he had very minor mats but that ended up being the reason they increased the price. I have been to several groomers before (including PetSmart), none of which have increased price due to matting, considering they are chopping the mats off anyways?? My initial review is below. I was contacted by The manager of this store (Wes). Wes was very apologetic and concerned about my dog's health. Petco offered to take care of my vet bill. I will be back once the canine flu epidemic is over. My dog was groomed at this Petco located at Lennox on 10/27/17 and developed canine flu a few days later. My dog has been extremely sick and have been concerned that he will not survive. I would avoid this location near Grandview. We had a terrible experience here! We have gone here for years for pet supplies and haven't always had the best experience. We even do repeat food delivery. Tonight we went to use the self bath and a lady walked up to us and said we couldn't use it because she hurt her hand. We explained we just wanted to use the self bath and we didn't need her assistance. She told us she wasn't able to clean up after us so we couldn't use it. We went to petvalu on High Street instead. We had an awesome experience there and they had really nice bathing area. We will probably switch all food and pet supplies to petvalu. read more

We do not have dogs or cats, but we do have fish. We love our fish, and this is the best pet-store-for-fish that we have found (we like it even better than that huge aquarium store in Dublin). The people who work in the fish section are all SO knowledgeable, and incredibly nice and helpful. They really know what they're talking about and we always appreciate their advice and guidance. A special shout-out to Kyle who is ALWAYS amazing! Also, Petco's prices for fish, fish tanks, aquarium supplies, etc, are WAY better than most other places in town (at some times, we have found them to be 50% cheaper than other places!) - especially if you sign up for their PALS reward system. Do NOT send your dog here. I was very desperate because my dad was in the hospital and I had my dog in town with me for a few days and I couldn't find any other groomer for a last-minute appointment. I called Petco grooming and was able to get him scheduled and do you want to know why because everyone else knows that they're horrible and no one else will schedule them that's why they have availability. With an hour and a half notice the morning of my appointment at noon they called me and told me that they couldn't see my dog at noon and that I needed to come in at 9:30 in an hour and a half. I have a job and a life I can't do that I desperately needed their help and they are unprofessional and rude. read more

For the love of god please do not go here. We have been going here to get our dog groomed/bathed for over a year a total of 4 to 5 times. It is December and our dog is a cold weather dog, and is even used as a sled dog in some parts. I drop her off, there is only one other dog there, its 9:15am. The person working says "Do you just want the regular?" I say, "Yea, the undercoat trim thing". She then shoves some paper for me to sign and I leave. Fast forward 5 hours and 15mins later!!! (it's never taken more than 3, for anything) We come back and they have shaved her to the skin!! Apparently getting shaved once to the skin out of 5 times is her "normal cut" ( a cut we only do in June/July). It's the beginning of winter. The groomers witty response "Buy a coat for her", more rude than witty, had the I don't know why this is my problem attitude ring to it. The incompetence just kept flowing from this place, they always ended with "Well you signed the paper and I did ask". "We are really busy." I am sorry I did not know the proper terminology for dog groomers, when I say "the undercoat thing" that would tip most semi-competent people off. It would also tip semi-competent people off when it is the middle of winter and you are shaving the dog to the skin. Next, they say we don't have to pay and then basically just stand there with stupid looks on their faces. So, I relay this entire story to a manager (so some sort of co-manager as they said 3 were working but none were the actual store manager). It takes 10 mins, only to have her get another one of the "managers" because "she didn't get what the problem was". This "manager" said "well our grooming department said they told you what they were going to do and they are really busy." He kept repeating this response to me, and even then the story of the groomer and what they told me had changed a couple of times during this encounter. So my reply was: One, they never said anything to me, and two, if you are taking in more dogs than you can handle it is not my fault, you incompetence is not my problem. So his final words, "Sir, I can't put the hair back on the dog". So now we can't take our dog to upstate Michigan to romp in the snow with other dogs, (I was wanting to try out sledding this year) or just go snowmobiling or do anything for any length of time because she shivers. And she freaking loves the snow! Now every time we look at her I just feel anger towards the entire store because our dog will be cold and can't do everything she loves to do in the winter. Finally we then called PETCO HQ, they were really nice, but are just going to relay the info to the district manager who will relay it to the actual store manager. I have a feeling, based on how the "co-managers" treat their customers they will just defer to the groomers once again. Because what does it really matter if we ever shop there again. With our 3 cats and 1 dog we spend about $150 every 6 weeks or so in there, so I guess it's just not enough to care. Please Yelp friends never go here again. read more

I don't do the dog thing, so whatever on all the grooming comments here. I do the cat thing though, and our poor polydactyl needs a special diet (high fiber). The wet food selection here is top notch. They have a lot of natural and special diet varieties. We signed up for their store perks card, and got 10% off the first time there. The second time there we cashed in a $5 off $25 purchase coupon. This is one of the only pet stores in columbus that has a litter refill station as well, making litter cheaper than buying it at other stores, just recycle your buckets. Service has always been friendly, and it looks like they keep their foster/animal/tank areas pretty clean (something that petland and jack's have been awful at). I think it's quite a decent pet store. read more

Now, let me first begin by saying that I was hesitant about Petco. Not as a huge pet superstore but as a caring, able-to-handle my 80 lb paranoid mutt. In his defense, Bart has seen and been through a lot from what we know. I adopted him 3 years ago from the humane society as a dirty, skinny, hairy mistrusting mess. Nearly 2 years into this love affair, I needed a professional groomer. Bart is, to say the least, hairy. At best, we have determined that he is part retriever (hairy) and chow (hairier). In addition, he loves to be outside, and loves to be in water (or mud if no water is present). As you can imagine, I had one dirty dog on my hands. Now before you get all animal rights on me, yes I do bathe him when he needs it. We brush him, hell, I've even tried brushing his teeth. Here's where the problems arise. He may love to swim and splash in the most toxic mud he can find...but the bathtub might as well have piranhas in it, because he's not having it. I've suffered through just enough of these flailing, hair flying, overly damp experiences to not be eager to approach them again. Fast forward to about 9 months ago. It's early December and I'm having an open house/holiday cocktail party. This means several of our friends, dressed in nice party going outfits, being inside my house...with the dog. As he is a part of the family, I of course wanted Bart to be present. As far as personality goes, he's fairly social, especially if you are holding food. Not only that, boyfriend and I had not been dating long and I really wanted to exhibit my hostess/I can raise a functional living being status. So...Bart had an invitation. The morning of the party, I decide he probably should be clean, if not trimmed up. When all grown out, Bart tends to resemble part lion, part hyena. Beyond looks, his hair has a tendency to stick to anything made of a textile--couches, carpets...and my guests' nice clothes. So here I am, weighing my options. I could A) Trick him into the bathtub, suffer through the bathing, brushing, toe trimming and teeth brushing. If I'm lucky, Bart may have gotten 75% clean, gotten one toenail clipped and I may have retained enough sanity to shower myself before my guests arrived...or B) get on line and find a dog groomer that takes not only walk in's, but neurotic, scared of their own shadow walk in's. So, I run across Petco on Olentangy Rd. I have some errands to run over there anyway, so I give them a call. "Hello, do you take walk ins?...Great...umm, well...we'll be there in 20 minutes." As I'm driving across town I stare at Bart in the rear view mirror, as he happily looks out the window, thinking we must be going to the park, or vet (he's a freak, he likes it there, but that's a topic for another review). Some things run through my head. First, this is going to take forever. I figure since I'm taking him in, I'll have the works done...bath, cut, teeth, toes...it all. No worries, I have plenty to get done while I wait for him. Second, I have to be honest, this is not our first trip to a groomer. About 6 months prior to that, Bart was staying with my dad while I moved into our new house. My dad thought it would be a nice gesture to get Bart groomed as a surprise to me. He took him to our local groomer back home, one that my family has used for our pets for over 20 years. Should be no problem right? Less than an hour after dropping him off, my dad gets a call that they are unable to have Bart as a client because he is neurotic, panicky and a general pain. Ok, she didn't say that but might as well have. So you can see where my apprehension comes from in trying this groomer thing a second time. To make a long story short(er), it was a raving success. The groomer at Petco, Kristin, I believe, was great. She not only bathed, clipped and brushed my beast, but she was able to trim ALL of his toenails, something only achieved by my vet while Bart is sedated for some other procedure. A few hours later, I get a phone call that he's ready. No problems at all she says, in fact they loved him so much, they let him hang out in the office with them after he was done. Beaming with doggy parent pride, we pick him up and he is gorgeous, smells great and even his usual dragon breath is slightly less heinous. All in all, great experience that has kept us coming back and recommending it to our dog owning friends. Thanks Petco, you have tamed our beast! read more

I've been waiting to see how everything turned out with my dog's health (and if the manager would follow up on him like she said she would- she did not). I took my dog to get groomed there for the first time a couple weeks ago, and the next day he started pooping a bright green leash. Long story short, somehow the groomer let my dog eat the entire leash that attaches the dogs to the top of the grooming table (was he just left alone on top of the table?) and had been pooping out long pieces of the leash for about a week. Thankfully he's shown no signs of a block that would require a foreign body surgery and eventually it all just passed through him. Did the groomer tell me that he ate a leash? No. Will I ever bring my dog to have them care for him in any way? No. read more

I purchased Healthy Select Chicken Breast Strip Treats from this store. Immediately after feeding my dog these treats she became very ill. I took her to the emergency room and had to give her charcoal to absorb any toxins from the treats. The Vet said that he had received literature warning pet owners about these dangerous jerkey treats that are produced overseas. The next morning both the vet and I called the store manager at this location to ask him to take the treats off the shelf. I went in later that night and saw that the store was still selling the treats! I'm so digusted with Petco and the manager for continuing to sell a very dangerous product. Luckily my dog will be ok but other dog has died from kidney failure from these types of treats. I would avoid this place at all costs. They do not care about the health or well being of your animals and knowingly sell dangerous products. read more

Dropped of my one dog to get groomed, clipped nails, and and have his under-coat thinned out to prevent so much shedding. I brought my pitbull to get her out of the house and they said they could even fit her last minute. They did a great job with both dogs, and the pit is a pain in the butt for claw trimming, but they did great. Really appreciated it. read more

I'll admit it I'm the girl who dresses her tiny little dog up in clothes. My dog has an OSU jersey, many t-shirts, and several costumes. This year I was hoping to dress her as a bumblebee for Halloween. Target usually has great costumes, but they were out of extra-small. I had to pick up dog food anyway, so I popped in to Petco. I was surprised to see the meager selection of dog costumes. They had plenty of Halloween t-shirts, but not very many costumes. But they do have lots of spooky toys. In an effort to be green (read: cut down on electricity), the lights are dimmed/off after dark. I actually thought it was closed - nope, just being cheap. read more

I come in here because it's convenient and somewhat close to home. I've had my dog groomed and nails clipped at the grooming salon a couple times. To be honest, they did an ok job but took hours! The place is ok on service but I always think that the kitten cages need to be cleaned out better. Come on, you're trying to help homeless animals. Great job to Petco for that but please keep them clean and in a healthy environment! They carry most products but the place is not organized clearly in a way that makes sense. read more

I have had a different grooming experience here. We rescued a dog and have used their grooming services here twice. Each time the groomer (different people each time) have groomed our dog exactly as we've asked and have been so friendly and kind. They do a great job and our dog has major separation anxiety so it's appreciated. I highly recommend their services ad while other items are overpriced the staff is so wonderful and always knowledgable (shocks me since they're a chain). We'll be using their grooming services permanently. read more

I took my Golden Retriever for a haircut this weekend. This is after I had to reschedule because they didn't tell me I need my vet to fax in her rabies information and I only found out when I brought her in for her appointment. I told them I don't care really what she looks like I just wanted her buzzed and any knots out - nothing crazy this was for hygiene and care not looks (she loves to swim). I picked her up and she looked great! I asked how she was and they said she was good - just didn't like the drier. So today I was further inspected and she has a raw patch under her ear!! It looks like they straight up shaved her skin off. I understand things happen especially given the short cut but I can't believe they wouldn't tell me!! I'm furious. Also on the phone they said $50 and I asked even tho she is a golden and I wanted her buzzed and they said maybe it'll be a little more - they charge me $75 before tip!! I will absolutely not be back. I would expect a company like petco to do whatever it takes to prevent injury to a pet, and find it alarming that no one even had the decency to tell me that my pet was injured during a standard cutting process. read more

A MUST READ BEFORE GOING TO PETCO GROOMING! Ask for Kathy, never ever ever go to Kim. I gave three stars, but I really wanted to give 0 and 5 - that's how different my experiences were with groomers. Let's talk about the 5 star groomer first - Kathy. Kathy is warm, friendly, and above all is exceptional at grooming. I always request Kathy, but one time my boyfriend took our dog there and didn't request her. When we picked up our dog from his bath and nail clip he had four bloody nails and the rest were barely clipped. Kim is the 0 star groomer, who spouted off that bloody nails happen all the time and it wasn't a big deal. She was unprofessional and defensive - never apologetic or remorseful. She claimed that Kathy probably had three or four people to hold down my 38 lb. dog. I guess since she didn't have enough help, she just decided to butcher him. I told her that I understood that accidents happen, but I would have preferred that if she couldn't handle it, she not do it. I also informed her that I was not paying for the service. Then, she got really mad and started claiming that she belonged to "PETA, owned two rescue dogs, and would never hurt an animal." I couldn't care less what organization you belong to just don't make every paw on my dogs foot bleed. The manager was fantastic and didn't even question me not paying, in fact he asked if there was anything else he could do. Once again, choose Kathy, never ever Kim. read more

I want to start out by saying that a few months ago I would have given a much higher score, but something changed while I was home for summer vacation and not for the better. The animal sections are lacking both in animals and decent looking cages. I'll start with the mammals since I went for a mouse (several times) for my snake who is on a hunger strike I'm trying to break her from. They haven't had them FOR WEEKS! They have barely anything over there, and if it was one week I would say oh maybe it was busy and they sold things but it has been weeks with nothing. I had to drive to another nearby store for a mouse which was a pain but their cages looked way better so it was still a good trip. The reptiles used to look really nice before I left, great selection and clean cages with lots of decor so the reptiles looked like they felt safe and happy. Now? Not even half the cages have any reptiles and the ones that did looked dingy, bare and not well cared for, the frogs had dry soil and the humidity was all off in all of the cages. The only reptile cage that looked good was the chameleon, so at least one gets some love. The fish also look super bare but at least most of the tanks were clean looking. The way too many oscars crammed into a small tank made me feel like I was at a walmart or meijer fish section so also not great. Overall I don't think I will be stopping in for supplies or to window shop anymore. The store itself looks clean and nice and the people seem friendly but the animal section has gone downhill and Ill just save myself a trip and go elsewhere for mice since they never have them anymore. read more

Our anger isn't toward the Petco at Lennox, but at the corporate policy of not accepting exchanges without a receipt. My wife and I just went to the Petco at Graceland (N. High St. in Columbus) to exchange a leash. My elderly mother gave us one that was too small for our big new dog. It was an unopened, perfectly packaged Petco brand leash. They would not allow us to upgrade because we didn't have a receipt. Then the clerk said it was because she couldn't be sure if we actually purchased the leash at all. When I walked in I went straight to the counter, for goodness sakes. She insinuated that WE STOLE THE LEASH! We have a new dog. It looks like our expenses will be about $50 a month for food and supplies. Needless to say, we won't be shopping at Petco ever again. read more

My pup and I have gone here for grooming twice. My dog is a heavy shedder and I asked for the deshedding treatment on top of the regular full service treatment the first time was with a very nice male groomer who was excellent. My dog was fresh smelling for weeks, he was shiny and there were no little stray hairs on top of his coat. For weeks when you petted him no stray hairs were falling off. It was great! So we scheduled a second appointment and I guess a different person was assigned to do the grooming. This time sucked! They charged me more and the results weren't anything like the first time. He had all kinds of hair just sitting on his coat. He wasn't shiny and he's still shedding just as much as before. I'm not even convinced they did the deshedding treatment. I'm very disappointed with the inconsistent service here! read more

Took my dog this morning for a last minute nail trim. Was completely impressed with the cleanliness of the grooming facility and the politeness of the groomer. I've gone to Petsmart for years and their space is always very dirty, muggy and not cleaned well. I ended up getting my dogs nails trimmed, drimmeled, teeth clean, ears cleaned and brushed for just $25. Just getting nails trimmed and drimmeled at Petsmart is $20. I will definitely come back to Petco! Also, a big thank you to the kind groomer Dee who made my typically anxious dog feel calm! read more

Yikes. We took our labradoodle in to get a haircut and they completely shaved her down to the skin!I understand she had a little bit of matting (she has before and they've never had to cut her like this) but this is absurd! I brush her a few times a week and the mats were not that bad. She is miserable with razor burn all over her body. They trimmed her nails down so far that she keeps licking them due to them hurting her. It seems that they just didn't feel like spending any time on her so they just shaved her that short. Please don't go to this location for grooming. I know we are not anymore. read more

This is the only place we bring our dog and have since he was a pup. I always request Dee, the manager of the grooming area. She's usually training people and can fit me in. She always remembers Zeke and really loves him. She carefully questions me on what I'd like for his cut, but I usually lean on her expertise and am never disappointed. He loves coming. This is a large chain type pet supply store. A large corporation, not local. Good for some things, not so good for other things. A large supply of foods for cats and dogs. All the usual stuff too. They let you take your dog inside so that's nice and they have free dog treats at the check out. We don't have groomable type dogs (only rescue mutts) so I have no idea how that end is. The location is handy and there's tons of parking. BTW do not buy dogs and cats there- adopt and rescue instead! read more

Most of the time I go to this location, there are only two employees at the registers and none walking the floors. Only one time have I received help from an employee walking around, and she was actually pretty great. The store barely has the variety offered online and only offers up to size large of dog items, which is extremely inconvenient. The store itself is not pleasing to the eye either. I know pet stores that allow pets in them are going to be a little stinky, however this store smells so bad you cant really shop. You need to get in get what you need and get out. They have a good selection for both cat and dog items and their prices are OK. I bought a beta fish here, it died after two weeks. I am not saying I am the best with fish but that was quick. I love this place for my 70 pound goldendoodle. Barb is excellent. I have gone to swanky boutique-style groomers who maimed and gave my dog razor burn, Petsmart groomers always ask for details about the trim and where to fluff and where to shave. If my dog comes out with the cut I didn't expect it is because I was unclear or forgot to offer my specifications. As in all things... communication needs to be clear. Don't forget that hair grows.
