This is the email I sent to them on 6/22/25, regarding an experience the week prior. I never heard anything back from grooming: I feel that I need to reach out to you regarding the experience I had last week. I brought in my two English labs, Amber and Honey Bee, for nail trim and dremel. They are 4yo and 9yo, respectively. I have taken them multiple places for nail trims and there has never been any issue with them. Monday I was concerned when the person only took Amber back alone, then when it took nearly 10 minutes and the person working the desk went back "to help her." I could hear her yelping. I probably should have left with Honey Bee when Amber came back to me, but I had already paid, and quite frankly, was shocked when they said she didn't like the dremel. Honey Bee also took awhile, apparently she was also "quicked" at least 2 times. When she came out she was very gimpy on her back paw and continued to lick it when she got home. To make all of this worse, when she brought Honey Bee out she apologized and then said that she "wasn't a professional." I expect that when I am paying $50 (and I always tip well, even that day) for my dogs to have their nails taken care of (typically a 10 minute total experience that does not involve them getting injured) I am paying for professional services. I had called ahead to see if a groomer were still there and I was told that "they could do their nails." I specifically asked for a groomer! Now I'm worried that my dogs will have issues getting their nails trimmed because someone injured them who should not have even been working on them. I had to wait to address this issue because I was so upset. My husband was livid! He had bought a dremel for me to learn to do their nails, but I was afraid of hurting them so I continued to pay for their nails. I'm concerned to see how they do the next time they need their nails trimmed, but it won't be at your location. For the sake of all dogs, don't let people trim nails who aren't professionals. read more

GROOMING - Horrifying Experience Took my dog in to get groomed today, she was badly matted but Petco has always been able to groom her with her matted fur. I got a call half way through the appointment saying they couldnt finish her because her matting was so bad. I was understanding and felt horrible. When I picked her up she was crying and had cuts all over her legs. There was fur coming off her and huge chunks of hair hanging off her body. I understand that you cant do a job because of the matting, but the condition I received her in left me sobbing in the car when I saw her and the pain and suffering she went through. Please please please dont come here if your dog has any matting, they do not know hot to handle matting or when to say no or stop before it gets too bad. She has gotten lots of treats and pets while I figure out what to do with her since the vet is booked. read more

I just LOVE this place. I dropped off my dog for a weekend visit. The staff is very friendly and always excited to have our dog. They even told me which of his friends are visiting. There is no better place in Columbus. My dog also goes to their daycare. He goes crazy in the car when we make the drive. Then when we bring him home, he sleeps. Pet owner beware of this place. Total lack of professionalism, reliability, or to even care when they make mistakes in the care of your pet! The very first trip took a German Shephard dog to this place for a bath, they mixed up the clipboards and shaved the entire dog?! Tried to think this was truly an honest mistake and tried to use their services a couple of other times. Each time they made careless, negligent mistakes in the pet's care. The final trip; tried to discuss the situation with the manager, I was talked over, and down to, then was told I was to be blamed for the issue I wanted to discuss because I didn't ask ahead of time about how they would treat my pet before leaving it in their care? Furthermore, they informed me that if gave them a negative review, then they would flag my file and we would be banned from ever coming back? So, much for customer retention and satisfaction! I was charged, with no notice, extra for my dog's "bad/difficult behavior". Never offered any detail as to what my dog did. My dog is only two years old. I admit he is skittish but he's been to this groomer two times before and all was fine. I called about an hour prior to check on how things were going and they didn't say anything about him being difficult. read more

I have been boarding my dogs here for a couple years because of their convenient location. It is very pricey but I use to be okay with the price because of their report cards. They are growing increasingly inconsistent with their report cards the past couple of times I have boarded them. They use to do it every time you purchased daycare or an extra service like a walk or treat during boarding. I just got back from an 8 day vacation and I only received 2 report cards even though I purchased an extra service each day. My brother boards his dog here too and noticed the same thing so he called and asked about it. They told him they only do report cards on the third day which doesn't make sense, because I only received one on the 2nd and 4th day and then they stopped. This happened the last time I boarded my dogs too and I contacted them about it. That time they waited a couple of days to send me pics of my pet in lieu of a report card, which is better than nothing. I also noticed they kept misgendering my female dog and I asked them to correct it. They said they would, but then they still misgendered her when I picked her up. I don't mind if they misgender my dog because she doesn't know the difference, but it makes me wonder if they copy and paste their responses. read more

We had a very negative experience at Puptown Lounge. We have had our yorkie for almost 14 years and have been to many groomers and have never had a worse experience than we did today. It took this place 6 hours to groom a 5 pound dog, then when I came to pick him up they told me while grooming him they cut his skin and had to put bandages and disinfectant on him. The Person at the front desk decided to strongly grab where they cut him while I was holding him to show me that it didn't hurt him and aggressively rubbed the would and it did hurt him. What kind of establishment cuts a dog then roughly runs the wound where they cut him in front of the owner?! I will never be back. I love my dog like he is another child and am sharing this to in hopes that you and your pup choose another place that cares about their dogs safety and comfort. read more

Our dogs have gotten kennel cough every time they attended puptown. This has never been an issue at other places we have put our dogs. Not sure if they check for vaccinations or even cared after we reported the kennel cough to them. We even prepaid for playtime and will not be back!! read more

I found this place because of Yelp reviews. We had to get a last minute grooming for our dog and every place in the area seemed to be booked out. I called Puptown Lounge and they asked what time I wanted to come in the following day. We were so happy because we were in a time crunch needed this grooming before the holidays. The staff is always so nice on the phone and even when dropping off and picking up. They always finish our dog quickly and he is normally ready in just a few hours time. They always give him a nice little bandanna depending on the time of year it is. They also have daycare and boarding here which I could not believe because it was so quiet in there! Most places that do daycare and boarding you can hear the dogs before even walking into the building. I asked where they do the daycare and he pointed to right over the wall in the lobby. I looked over and was shocked to see about 20 dogs in there just walking around and relaxing! You would have never known they were all back there since they were all so content and quiet! We typically have a family friend watch our dog when we go away but if we had to board Puptown lounge would be top on our list. read more

In the past, I hav had several bad experiences with grooming. Puptown Lounge has become my new go-to groomers! There was a fantastic one I loved in old Dublin, Inu Shiba but it is *extremely* expensive,, I took a chance on Puptown Lounge. The are always very friendly on the phone and in person, and most importantly, they do exactly what I request, and even save all my preferences on a note card the groomer is given. There is often same-day availability, are accommodating if do make an appointment and need to reschedule, and they just added a new, grooming-dedicated building next to their daycare and boarding building. They are awesome. Our frenchie had some anxiety about us leaving and stopped eating a day or two before. We brought special food and treats for him. They went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable by adding chicken broth to the food and were more than happy to give us updates as to how he was eating and assure us we did not need to come back early from a vacation because of their care and attention. read more

I love Puptown Lounge. I drive from the other side of the city for grooming for my German Shepherd and Frenchie. They do an incredible job. My Shepherd has anxiety and does not like getting groomed by anyone. They are exceptional with keeping him calm and giving him a great experience. I've tried numerous places, however nothing compares to PupTown and I will always bring my fur babies there. read more

I have 2 big labs with lots of energy -- they go to doggy daycamp at least 3-4 times a week. When I moved to Columbus, I had a terrible experience with a big chain, and after some research decided to give Puptown a try. First, both dogs are excited to go to daycamp, which was not always the case. They both get hyped up as soon as they know it's time to go. Puptown also does boarding. I travel frequently for work, and over the past 2 years my dogs have stayed many times. Puptown has always been able to accommodate them, even during the holidays, and I rest easy knowing they are in good hands when they are there. My dogs also get groomed about once a week, and they always do a great job on their fur and nails, and they come home with a little bandana around their neck. Their prices are very very competitive. Package pricing makes doggy daycamp about 30% less than the big chain, grooming is almost 25% less, and boarding for two dogs is probably half what it would be elsewhere. Most important: all of the staff at Puptown are so friendly, and take care of my dogs like their own. If you are in the market for any of these services, I highly recommend you check them out. read more

After four years of getting my dog groomed and giving him baths at home, I take him to puptown ONCE, and he is now traumatized. I've been told by other groomers now that they forced the dryer on him. Common sense tells you to stop when a dog is freaking out over something and not to force it on them, clearly the groomer didn't have any or doesn't actually care about dogs. The fact that he doesn't just jump in the bath like he used to makes me think many other things happened during his appointment that shouldn't have. You can't say it was just a bad day either cause he had NEVER had problems and loved being pampered before. I wish they would fire the groomer, but they can't even admit to what they did. Along with myself, I have talked to three other families who have stopped going to puptown. If you don't love dogs and work with them to help them be comfortable you shouldn't have this job. Just moved here and trying to look for a friendly, warm place for my dog child. As I stepped inside, the place smelled a little funny. The haircut on my dog was a little uneven, but overall okay. Also, this place is not caged free. My dog is used to roaming around to get a feel for the area. She gets anxious especially in new atmosphere, but she does pretty well with her old groomers. I'm sure the other groomers are fine, but this place is not for us. read more

THE. BEST. We've been taking our two dogs to Puptown for about three years and couldn't be happier. They've received grooming, done day care and been boarded. I never worry leaving my dogs because it's like giving them to family for a fun weekend away. The dogs are so tired from all the fun and love that they are just couch potatoes for the next couple of days after boarding over a weekend. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets. The staff is so warm and welcoming when you walk in for drop offs, they treat your dog like their own with lots of petting and attention. The facilities are always clean and tidy! I took my German Shepherd there for daycare based on friend's recommendation, my dog was bitten by another dog and the staff didn't seem to care. The staff's(old lady name Robin) response was" it's just like kids falling down in the playground " and said "it happens all the time." She also said that dogs fight, she had to send dogs to vet in the past and it happens. I wasn't notified that my dog was bitten and I found out during the pickup. My dog was super hyper, dirty and smelled like kennel. This place is horrible. My poor dog has two puncture wounds on his nose :( read more

I just picked my dog up from his first stay here and am so pleased! The staff were great to work with at every touch point. My dog needs daily medication and they were sure to review all of his paperwork (including food and medication information) when I dropped him off. I was able to call each day and get an update on how he was doing. I dropped off a lot of medicine, food, and toys with him and got it all back in the same bag at pick up. You can add a tip to your credit card payment or put cash in the tip box out front. We will be back next time I have to go out of town! read more

My miniature poodle Leonardo had a wonderful experience at Puptown! The staff was very friendly to me and most importantly him. He gets anxious about the groomer because he had a bad experience when he was younger at PetSmart. Everyone took extra special care of him and when I picked him up he had one of the best haircuts I've ever seen. For all my poodle or doodle moms out there you know that fur type needs major upkeep and I was so impressed with the cut / style. I could tell Leonardo loved it too. We will be back! read more

I've taken my dog to Puptown Lounge a few times when I've had some busy days that would cause her to be locked up for long hours. I like the fact that you don't have to make an appointment so if something comes up last minute I can just swing by with no problem. They split the dogs up into big and small play groups and have separate rooms for each. There is also a fenced in outdoor area with playground toys and even a baby pool for warmer weather. The staff is always super friendly and really seem to care about dogs. Once we arrive my dog jumps out of the car and runs up to the door, so it's safe assume she likes it there. The staff is really good about knowing which dog goes with which owner, making pickup seamless. They'll even tell you a bit about your dog's day and how he/she got along. Puptown Lounge also takes pictures of the dogs every day and posts them to Facebook at the end of the week. It's nice to see what your pup was up to. It's $21/day for daycare, but you can save yourself some money if you buy a package. Puptown Lounge also does grooming, so for $10 I will also get my dog's nails trimmed so that I don't have to deal with the hassle. My dog always leaves Puptown Lounge smiling and instantly falls asleep when we get home. You can't beat that! read more

I took my dog Lola to Puptown Lounge when I was in desperate need of last minute daycare. I have never taken Lola to doggy daycare before, but I felt comfortable leaving her with the people at Puptown Lounge. They were very friendly and gave me a tour of their facility. They went over all the details of what Lola would be doing and where she would be throughout the day. Lola was scared to leave me at first, but when I called to check on her later they assured me that she was having fun. When we picked her up in the evening she was happy to see us of course, but exhausted from all her playing, it was great! Puptown lounge is a small place, but they have great prices ($20 for a full day of doggy daycare!) and the staff is super friendly. They have a decent sized fenced in area for outside play and seperated areas inside for the big and small dogs which are always supervised. read more

Took my pup here back in July. I didn't bother writing a review because I had a previous bad experience at another groomer; so I thought, maybe it's me and my expectations are too high. Just got my dog groomed at shampoodles in clintonville and they completely restored my trust in groomers. So, now I'll share my review on puptown: When I dropped her off, the staff was fine. Not overly friendly or anything. The groomer came out and sat down and did a consultation with me. I Didn't really get the vibe she enjoyed what she was doing. When I picked up my dog after she was finished; Her haircut wasn't really what I wanted- and I could tell she was shaken. They then handed me her "report card" for her visit. The groomer never even came to talk to me. Basically the report said how poorly behaved she was and how she needs to come back in more often to help that. I was actually shocked, no one had ever mentioned anything to me about my dog being difficult. My dog threw up in the car on the way home, and proceeded to act skittish the rest of the day. Not to mention she was burned badly on nose and feet. Not ok. I felt like these people at puptown gave my dog a bad report so they could get more business out of me. Thanks but no thanks. Great experience at Puptown!! Our dog is 12 years old and this was the first time we had boarded her anywhere (usually have someone stay at our house while we are gone) and I have to say I was extremely pleased with our experience! I was worried because I had never boarded her before but I had nothing to worry about. She stayed for 4 days and got groomed while there and I didn't end up with a scared dog so I consider this success!! She is a bit dog aggressive so she didn't get to experience doggy play time but I know she was well attended to, fed and played with. We didn't do any "river walks" as it was so cold the week we boarded her, but hope to do this for her next time so she gets some exercise. The grooming looked great and she even had a cute little bandana to boot for Valentine's Day! She slept all evening and night....must have made some new friends and loved the excitement because she was exhausted!! :) Thanks Puptown!! read more

We LOVE Puptown and will definitely be back! We had a rambunctious puppy after a long trip to Columbus and we needed a place to take him over the holiday weekend. We called Puptown and they were able to take our pup on short notice. He had a blast playing with the other dogs and was bathed and trimmed for us when we picked him up. I have taken my dog to a few different doggie day camps and this is mine and my dogs favorite so far. They have a huge outdoor area, take tons of pictures and post them to social media later in the evening. My dog doesn't even wear a name tag on his collar, when I picked him up for the first time they knew him by name and remembered him when I took him back the next time a week later. Baxter is so happy and totally exhausted when we get home that I know he had a great time. The deduction of one star is because the first drop off and pick up were very informal and casual, really no real welcome or questions asked. You simply sign your dog in and they take him away. Similar situation when I picked him up, they almost didn't even charge me because they assumed I had purchased a pass. However once becoming an established customer, this is great.. in and out quickly. They do not provide daily report cards or food (but you can provide your own) so those may be things to consider. They also offer grooming while at camp, additional "upgrades" and you can purchase packages rather than paying per day. read more

I LOVE Puptown Lounge! I've only used them twice so far, but I have a very high energy pup and the latest time bringing him to day care resulted in him passing out literally 20 seconds after closing his eyes and he then slept for the rest of the evening! (that NEVER happens) I've also used their grooming services and I think they are very fair priced and my pup left fresh and clean. Even the time I didn't get him a bath before leaving day care, he was visibly dirty, as that's what happens when dogs play all day, but he didn't smell bad at all! He actually smelled pretty decent. The only complaint I have with this place is that I wish they told me how my pup did during day care. However, if I ask they are happy to tell me, I would just appreciate something consistent, like a report card or something. But I will continue to take my pup here for his play time until I move in the fall! Can't say enough good things about this place. read more

Brought our pup here for the first time at the end of October and loved it! The groomer sat down and talked to me about every little detail, he looked awesome when I picked him up! Came back 8 weeks later for the same full groom and they had his name wrong, couldn't find his reservation, didn't have any record of our names, asked repeatedly how I wanted his cut to be done. They said "short or short short?" I replied "short". Well, if it was any shorter he'd be bald, so what is short short?? All this can be forgiven, however when my fiancé picked him up they said casually "we need to talk to you about a little cut on his ear." That little cut turned out to be a gouge missing from his ear. They blamed it on him getting anxious towards the end...well I have several responses to that. 1. After TWO HOURS any living thing would be tired or annoyed. 2. I'd be mad if my haircut was uneven and too short. 3. You're a dog groomer...you certainly deal with some crazy pups, but this little 5lb guy is as gentle as a butterfly. At the end of the day if you cut my dog, don't make me pay full price for your hack job that physically harmed my dog. read more

I have never had an issue going here when I have taken our dog to get a grooming. The staff is friendly, and Daisy always smells great and is in a good mood after she is done getting groomed/cleaned here. The only thing I don't like is they take the animals in the back and you are not able to watch them clean/cut them. This is where we take our dog for day care! I love that they have online scheduling (so you know quickly and easily whether they have room for your pup that day), a heated outdoor area (as often as they can go outside, they do go outside), and grooming onsite (there was a really nice early spring day that my dog came back smelling great-my guess is that the dogs got muddy and they bathed them all free of charge). They'll feed your dog if you need them to and my dog always comes home exhausted that night (and will moan like she had the hardest workout of her life if you go to pet her). They also wrote us a little note about how she did on her first visit. I know it would take a long time, but I wish they would do that every day they are there. I do wish that PT would invest in a webcam. They're not that expensive and it'd go a long way in peace of mind (although PT is super nice and encourage calling on your lunch break to check in. Which is great if you're an anxious puppy mom like me). They told us, "we're getting one soon!", but when I was talking with other frequenters, it turns out they've been saying that since at least 2013. They encourage you to look at photos they take throughout the day on their Facebook page, but they don't post the photos for the whole week until Saturday. That means you can't see what happened with your dog on Monday until the following Saturday. Overall though, PT rocks! I love leaving my pet with people who genuinely love dogs and strive to be good to them. read more

These people are very nice and seem to really care about what the do so that's a plus. Again, super nice. I understand that they are a small operation and fully accept everything they tell me about their limitations due to size. What I don't understand is how everything is "in progress." Webcams in doggie daycares are pretty standard nowadays, yet they explain that the service is "in progress." Why? I bought a Foscam for $150 on Amazon and set it up in 30 min. You're telling me a business cannot spend $500 on a few cameras and website infrastructure for a standard service in the daycare industry? It surely isn't due to time. It would take less than a day to mount and wire the cameras. Secondly, the back patio ground consists of pebbles. Makes sense from a permeability standpoint. Unfortunately I overheard a fellow customer telling Puptown that she will have to take her dog elsewhere because her dog has been eating rocks. Additionally, my dog comes home caked in pebble dust everyday. Puptown said they plan on laying out faux turf soon. Again, why can't this get knocked out in 1 hour? Measure, buy, cut, and roll out. 1 hour max. I'm still giving them 4 stars because I know they mean well and I really want them to succeed. They just need to know that holding off on simple 1 day improvements can and will cost them customers. They already lost the business of the rock eating puppy and I am on the verge of taking my business elsewhere because my dog is so gritty when I pick her up. read more

I went in after work one day to ask about boarding, and hopefully to see the facilities. I did this because of all the good reviews on Yelp. Staff said they were too busy - to come back on Saturday. That I did, and was told I couldn't see it then, either. They were not busy at all on Saturday and were incredibly rude. It must be filthy back there. All the good reviews for this place seem to involve the daycare, not the boarding. read more

First I have to say that I used Puptown as a groomer for years with my Maltese who unfortunately passed away at the beginning of the year. Her grooms were fine and there was never an issue. The issue I had was with the doggy daycare. After loosing my maltese I went to Franklin County Dog Shelter to adopt and came home with a very sweet pit mix. She was well socialized with other dogs after spending 2 months in the shelter and being utilized as a "helper" dog helping to evaluate the behavior and socialization skills of incoming dogs. She also came home to my cat who she is mostly afraid of and belly crawls over to whenever she's allowed (by the cat, not me) but mostly ignores. So...I took her in for daycare on a Saturday and after about 2 hours was called and asked to come pick her up. When I got there I was told the other dogs wouldn't give her space and she started to get "alpha" and they didn't want her to be aggressive. Aside from the fact that "alpha" is nonexistent in her personality my problems are this, why wasn't there a person breaking the dogs up and redirecting their play? Where there so many dogs (too many dogs) that each animal didn't have an appropriate amount of space? Finally, my dog didn't actually do anything other than get harassed, why was she the one ejected. The only answer to that question is breed bias. I waited several months to post a review even though I was really disappointed. I waited to make sure I knew my new dog as well as I thought. In the 6 months since she has regularly visited the Godown Road dog park with NO ISSUE. She has been boarded and gone to doggy daycare at Pet Palace in Hilliard with NO ISSUE and with glowing report cards. She has had oodles of play dates with other dogs, who sometimes play rough with her, with NO ISSUES. Best scenario they're greedy and allow too many dogs for daycare, denying the animals the proper amount of space to both play and relax. Regardless of the issue, I won't go back or recommend them. GO TO PET PALACE IN HILLIARD FOR DAYCARE! They're hands on, monitored playgroups with less dogs per group and more space to play. read more
