This was, I think, the worst Petco I have ever been to. I walked in to get my money back for my dead beta fish, and while waiting for someone to help me, I saw so many dead fish that weren't picked up in the tanks, more than I can count with my hands. The whole aquatic environment was horrible. I'd be embarrassed to be an employee there. I will never buy a fish from here again. read more

Though this store is clean, well stocked and workers are mostly friendly, the overall customer service is lacking. I brought in a coupon today for my dog food. Apparently it specified it was for a 4 lb. bag, whereas I bought a 12 pound bag. They would not honor my coupon. Didn't even make an effort to ask. Just no. I want to shop locally to help stores stay open, but forget it. Why should I when they don't care about their customers? It was a very low amount coupon, so its not even the dollar amount. It's the attitude. I can get the same food for as good or BETTER price without leaving my house. This isn't the only incident, but it is the last one. You just lost a customer. read more

If you're looking for a pet store ran by people who love pets, this is the place. Since I bought my German Shepherd puppy a week ago, I've visited this Petco at least 4-5 times. Not only are they genuine dog lovers, they are full of knowledge which they are all to happy to share. Katie and Paul have gone out of their way to make sure I got what I needed and to share ideas that have been very useful. Also, Cathy is an absolute great trainer. Scheduled what I thought was a haircut appointment for my poodle. When I show up to the appt the guy says it's a bath and brush. I told him I don't need a bath and brush he needs a cut. I asked if he could be fit in at all. Without caring to look up anything to see if they could make it work he just rudely said no. I said ok that's frustrating I swear I selected haircut, now I am not blaming him I am saying I swear I selected haircut like stupid on me. He said you did it, you selected a bath, you scheduled it. Wow. Nice customer service. I then get home and receive a text that my appt for my second dog is now cancelled. I will not be returning to let out clearly! Was not accusing you of anything , was merely frustrated which is allowed when we make a mistake. I did not say you made a mistake. You then cancel my other dog. Terrible grooming service! We scheduled an appointment via their online service for Saturday. We get a call Thursday saying the time slot we selected is not available due to their online site not being up to date w their scheduling. We complied so rescheduled our dogs appointment to Friday @ 3:30. Come Thursday, they call to confirm her appointment @ 4?? We told the person on the other line that we were told 3:30. To which the lady replies "the person whom your dog was scheduled with has her schedule blocked off from 3 to 3:45 for lunch." Unhappy, we just said "fine". Friday is finally here and we get a call @ 9am saying they need to reschedule her appointment AGAIN!! Pissed at , we told them that this is her 3rd time being rescheduled. Their response.... "oh" .. so instead of keeping the appointment, we went to their competitor PetSmart. We called and were able to make an appointment for the very next day! Never got rescheduled and they even finished earlier than they projected. We originally planned on Petco since it was closer to the house, but we're willing to make the drive to PetSmart. I'm officially done with this company. I have been a customer for years, and I'm not one to complain about anything, but this place is awful. I have red eared sliders, I go in about twice a week to purchase the night crawler worms. It's a 50/50 chance that when I open up the container the works are dead. I understand things happen, but when I have to go back and get a new container of worms I would think I wouldn't be charged again. The manager didn't even apologize, as this has happened four times now. His explanation to me was well you should check the date. Shouldn't you check the date? Isn't that your job? So when I go in I have asked them to open the container to make sure they are alive before getting home. They treat me like it's an inconvenience to open it. I'm sorry but it's an inconvenience to get all the way home and come back because your worms are dead! I won't shop here ever again! read more

I find that they really poorly take care of the fishes that comes to the store. The only reason that this store does not get 1 start is because they do have good customer service, and they do carry better inventory for aquariums compared to other pet stores. read more

I wish I took the opportunity to remember the guy's name, but one of the guys who was working there when we came in was so helpful. Really, everyone here was nice and helpful, but he really stood out. He was sweet, personable, and efficient. While he was helping other people, he was also tending to us, and then as he was tending to us, he was helping other people. Everyone who worked here asked if we needed any help looking for stuff. Not one person walked by without interacting with us. Petco is a little pricier than Walmart or Petsmart, but living in San Diego, I have to support San Diego businesses. Also, Petsmart doesn't allow bully breeds at any of their classes, so I don't support them for that reason. I also love that Petco has the bulk dog treat bar! My dog has gone to the other petco for classes and grooming multiple times but after seeing their recent reviews I was worried about taking her to the other location, I tried this location. As I walked my dog into grooming I got such a great feeling from this salon manager. She was kind and really seemed to care. She introduced me to the staff that would be taking care of my dog and they all seemed great! My dog was happy as she was coming out of there and looked great! Thanks petco salon! read more

Groomer does a nice job on the dogs. She works well with them, I am always happy with the cut, and my dogs love going in. Major downfall is the scheduling issues. I have had scheduling problems the last 3 times in a row my dog had appointments. Two of those appointments I ended up having to cancel other appointments I had for my dog because they did not change things in their schedule when THEY would call to ask to change my appointment times. Unfortunately I will not be going back for grooming because of all of the scheduling problems and the fact my dog has had to stay for about 6 hours the past two times as a result of poor schedule maintenance. I will however continue to shop there. They have products my dogs like and are reasonably priced. read more

Called in advance looking for a saltwater fish, was put on hold for over ten minutes and was eventually told the fish I was looking for was in stock. After waiting inside the store for a couple minutes for someone to come to their fish department I went to the register and asked for help in the fish department, she paged someone. Waited five more minutes, nobody came to help and I finally walked out. Customer service shouldn't be this unaccommodating, also their workers weren't even wearing any attire that remotely showed their employ with petco? Just in regular public clothes?? read more

I am never going back to the store because they not only act like they don't want to be there but they were talking to my mother and I like we were idiots when the situation could have been handled very differently. My experience with this store was very disappointing. I went in, selected six bags of various flavored Blue Buffalo cat food and proceeded to the check-out. I had an online coupon for 20 % off in my phone which I presented to the young man at the counter. He told me that he had never see that before and can therefore not honor the coupon. Before I had a chance to say anything, the young woman behind him chimed in, "We don't accept them here." I asked to speak with the manager and was told that she was not in. I left the store, went to my car, and called the corporate customer service line. The corporate representative called the store while I was still on the line with him and spoke with the store manager. He told her to accommodate me and then told me that I could go back in the store and use the coupon to make my purchase. When I went back into the store, I was again told that I could not use the coupon and the manager was not in. Their competition, PetSmart honored my coupon and even hooked me up with free will call service. I can order online and simply pick up my order which is waiting for me at the front of the store. I have never been turned down for online coupons at PetSmart. read more

I reluctantly took my two Maltese to the Petco grooming salon in River Park. I say "reluctantly" because their grooming manager Debbie has a tendency to add additional charges after my dogs have been checked in by other groomers. The last appointment in early November was no different. I checked in both dogs with another groomer, because Debbie was a supposedly on her lunch. The poor groomer was visibly overwhelmed, as she expressed being way behind, and didn't have the support she needed to catch up. When I questioned why my former groomer was no longer there, she shared that she "couldn't take the stress of being there anymore." A second groomer came out, and the two of them checked my 2 dogs in. I clearly requested a different cut for each of my dogs. Low and behold, I get the call I dreaded from Debbie stating that there would be additional charges. When I i picked up my dogs, they were sshaven down to their skin and the only real hair that was left on them, looked like toupees on the top of both of their heads. Because they tell you during drop off if your not happy with their grooming services the cut is free, I immediately phoned the store the next day. When I expressed my dIsappointment with the manager on duty, he told me that he didn't have the power to issue a refund. In a nutshell, this wasn't the first negative experience I've had with Debbie, and her groomers comments were all the confirmation I needed to know that their grooming salon is in desperate need of new management. Needless to say, that I will NEVER take my dogs there for grooming again. I am very disappointed in Petco for not standing behind their word to guarantee their grooming services, and regret that I entrusted them with my pets. read more

I wish there was a lower rating I could give them. We've been taking our dogs here since they were puppies for grooming services. They don't like change so we deal with less that par customer service because they're used to this place. Today was the absolute last straw. Never again will I drop a cent here for anything. We've had an appointment set for over a month for services this Sunday. They canceled on us once and pushed it out a couple weeks. Today they called at 2 and then again at 3. Apparently to "confirm" our appointment Sunday. Well I was at work in meetings and could not answer. My husband tried calling them back and left a message at 2:45 for them. They returned the call 30 minutes later saying we had until 3 to confirm and they gave our slots away. Are you serious? So the guy Stevie I spoke to has zero customer service and said they tried getting ahold of me for days. No. That is a lie. I spoke to the manager after I was out of work and he was trying to be of some assistance, but could not guarantee we would be serviced this weekend. That was it. No more. Never. We spend at least 100 a month on pet supplies outside of the grooming service and will never buy a thing there again. They have zero customer service, and do not manage this department at all. They have demanded we pick up the dogs immediately because they were done at it is COVID only to race over there and them not even be done. They've caused us to miss work. Cut our male's butt. And the list goes on. I advise you to go almost anywhere else. We have an appointment at a local groomer tomorrow. Our first time there. More than Petco could do for loyal customer for years. And they were in the wrong! I almost went to PETSMART to buy clippers and do it myself. Thank God I came to my senses. read more

I called today to inquire how much a full service grooming for my 12lb Yorkiepoo. I was informed that they could not tell me how much they charge because they needed to see my dog. I asked for a price range because I do not have the time to spend coming in for a "quote" to learn that it is more than I was ever willing to spend. The person on the phone struggled to answer my questions and could not clarify where their price differences were and how they would determine my quote. I have taken my dog to a number of different groomers locally and I have never had an issue with someone advising me over the phone the cost for a full service groom. I asked to speak to a manager to ask for clarification in regard to how they determine pricing. I was then informed that if my dog was matted then I would be charged $7 for every 15 mins the groomer spent on getting them out. First of all, I find it ridiculous that as the consumer I am expected to pay for something that I have no way of confirming took place. Secondly, I don't feel that I should have to pay for how long it takes a person to do something. While I understand that a matted dog may cost more. I don't feel that my money should be dictated in part by the efficiency of the individual grooming my dog. I never see a large amount of dogs being groomed when I go in and now I understand why. read more

Please stay away from the Petco grooming salon. I have been going to Petsmart for years & have always been happy. I decided to give Petco a try since they are 5 min away from my house and I had to fly out of state on short notice. I have a 3 pound Yorkie who is sweet & will let anybody groom her. I dropped her off at 11:15 and did not get a phone call until 4:30. I called 2-3 hours after I dropped her off to check on her & they they told me she was not done yet. I got a phone call from the groomer who was practically in tears telling me that she nicked my dog. I was really nice & told her not to worry about it. After really checking I realized that the groomer actually CUT OFF A PIECE OF MY DOGS EAR. I filed a complaint to the general manager & all he had to say was that he didn't want to lose me as a customer. If you want all your pets body parts still intact when you pick them up then stay away from the Clovis Petco. read more

Terrible customer service. The General Manager has no idea how to build customer loyalty. The Store Manager told us that they would participate in the Canidae frequent buyer program where you hand in 12 UPC's and get a free bag. We went to check out with a $200 shop and tried to use the 12 UPC's to get a free bag and the Store Manager denied ever telling us that they would participate and kept talking about how they would price match, obviously not a great listener. Needless to say, we went back to pet Extreme and will not return to Petco. read more

I purchased puppy training classes on black friday... I was told before the sale and the day of the sale that the classes were 1 day a week and that you would schedule a day to go after the classes were purchased.... I was also told that the trainer Hayden would call me to schedule my first class... well today was a week and I had still not received a call... I call to see what the issue was... and why I had not received a call to schedule my first class... Hayden answered the phone and said that he had 50+ people to call and schedule and just hasn't had time to call everyone that he had only called 10 people.... I ask if that meant he didn't have time to do all the ones that had signed up and he no I can schedule u now... So I tell him that my schedule changes because I'm a nurse and I dont get the same days off every week but that u can come once a week to classes just will ha e to be a different day each week... He tells me that I have to come the same day each week and need to get that day off each week... again I tell him that I'm a nurse and that it doesn't work that way in a hospital setting that it isn't possible.... So now I have to go get a refund for the classes and will have to pay full price at another store that has more than 1 trainer... all of this could have been avoided had they only sold the appropriate amount for 1 trianer to handle and told the customers that you had to come on the same day each week... very frustrating... I understand that one person can only do so much but also as a customer I expect that what I purchase can and will be fulfilled and honored... read more

We took our 6 month Maltese to Petco for a haircut, grooming. The woman in charge of the grooming, Natasha, was extremely helpful. She recognized an allergy with our maltese that was causing tear staining, and recommended a food for him that would help. She spent time answering all our questions, and we are new dog owners, so we had a lot of questions. She did a great job with the grooming... our puppy got a cute cut, wash/blow dry, ears cleaned out, nails filed down, "facial" to help the staining on the white face, teeth brushed... and when we picked him up he had an adorable little tie on! The grooming salon really went above and beyond! Kim also assisted Natasha with our dog. I'd recommend them to anyone! read more

I took my dog to get his haircut for the first time today and they did such a great job! I am above and beyond pleased with what they did for my little guy. They were especially patient with him since he was a little feisty and squirrelly during the cut/shave and I am forever grateful with how nice they were. i went into petco and bought a pet food container, took it home and found out that the container was damaged. we took it back the same day with the receipt my husband went inand he was acused by both the salesperson and the manager of breaking it. we could not believe that these people could be so rude. i dont know if it was racially motivated or just piiss poor customer service but we will never set foot in that stor again. read more
