I used to get my dog groomed here and had great experiences. Unfortunately, I moved away and thought I'd find another groomer closer to home and that hasn't been the case. I decided to take my dog back and they were great! They remembered her from past visits, although it's been years! They are personable and affordable. My dog was unexpectedly in heat and I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to keep my appt. They were understanding and made it work. This was her first groom while in heat and she did very well with them! I've had nothing but great experiences here and plan to return! Next time, I plan to be a bit more specific and take her when she is not in heat. They also take cute photos of the dogs after they're all cleaned and groomed and send it to let you know when they're ready to be picked up! Very memorable touches! Thank you, Star Mutts!

This review is long overdue. Gwynn is super sweet and always keeps my Chewie looking so handsome. I always have to book his appointments far in advance. Her Saturday's tend to stay booked! For a good reason too. She's very thorough and great with the doggies. She has a little area where they can roam free which I love. She also takes her time after each visit to snap a cute photo complete with props and a theme based on the month. I love that she does that. I enjoy getting the photos every time we stop by.

Love Gwynn, the owner. She genuinely cares for all the fur babies and she does an amazing job grooming our dog. We don't live near the salon, but we drop off our dog, and return a few hours later when we get a text or call. I have been bringing my dog to Star Mutts since 2013 and have always been happy. My dog has long hair and is high maintenance. Star Mutts' prices are reasonable and I always feel it's money well-spent. Gwynn makes sure she knows what style we like for our dog's haircut, and she goes above and beyond to make us happy. Gwynn and her awesome staff even set up a photo booth and take cute pics of the dogs after they've been beautifully groomed.

I love taking my Dixi Darling here. They are excellent and making her look her very best. I so enjoy the pictures Gwynn sends me, (See Below) somehow it makes it so much more special. Petco stopped taking my Dixi because she is so old, has cataracts and tends to nip when being groomed, because she hates her paws touched and because she cant see well, fast movements seem to scare her. Gwynn seems to have the love and patients to work on her and has never turned her away. As you've read, there is a month or two waiting list, but she is worth it. I trust her with my sweetie pie. Thank you Gwynn.

They are incredibly unprofessional and rude!!! My dog is a sweet 30 pound terrier who I have groomed in the past with no trouble. She does not like her feet touched which I informed them of when I dropped her off and told them if she wasn't tolerant no need to worry about her feet and toenails. They were unable to finish her legs, feet and toenails but proceeded to charge me extra for being unable to complete my dogs groom labeling he aggressive MY DOG IS THE SWEETEST this place is an absolute joke

I have been going to Star Mutts for about 7 years. It is a bit of a drive for me, but I really regretted trying the place closer to my house and quickly returned to Star Mutts! This is not just a "turn 'em & burn 'em" kind of business. It is literally a family that loves dogs, cares about the dog parents and loves what they are doing. Thank you Star Mutts! What a delightful find! Warm and friendly. Unless a dog doesn't like other dogs or is aggressive, they don't cage them. They get to play and visit while they wait for their humans to pick them up. Reasonably priced and what a lovely job they did! I will be going there regularly now. read more

My little one needed her nails cut and because of a very bad experience at a National grooming place I was so reluctant to take her anywhere. A friend recommended Star Mutts. They put her in a little fenced area to get her used to the smells and sounds. After they felt she was comfortable they picked her up and spent some time talking and cuddling her before they clipped her nails. Such wonderful kind and patient groomers. She now doesn't have a problem getting her nails done. read more

Let me tell you this I am I love with how my dog came out !!! The owner is super nice and very real with you unlike some other big company groomer where they stay shady and lie. I forgot to catch the other groomers name but she was also super nice and they were both super professional, they were also super welcoming. When Angel and I first arrived to the location, I was super embarrassed cause it has been a super long time since he was groomed he was dirty matted and just all out didn't look like a approachable dog, but now he looks like a whole different dog. From his coat looking super shiny and white to smelling sooo good, they both worked their magic on him !! I 100% recommended coming here you might think it doesn't look much on the outside but don't let that fool you Great professional pet stylists inside plus they have all sorts of little hats bows handkerchiefs they out on your dog super adorable!! We LOVE Star Mutts! Their attention to detail is unmatched. They treat my old doodle with care and give helpful suggestions for his arthritis and skin patches. We've taken him in a couple times already and they remember his needs. They are booked out well in advance, but if you're willing to wait, they're happy to schedule your next appt after each visit. So worth it! They also send a picture when your dog ready to be picked up. It's a small gesture, but I love receiving that text. read more

Brought my chihuahua in to get his nails cut (he hates getting his nails cut more than anything in the whole world) and he was screaming and biting and making a whole scene and the groomer was so nice about it. She could tell that I was freaking out because he was being embarrassing lol and she reassured me that we're welcomed to come back and was very sweet about it. The other dogs that were in the building were groomed so nicely and were super happy. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Great Groomer! Puppy gets to play while she waits! I picked her up smelling good and all dressed up! Her haircut was fabulous and I couldn't stop kissing her! Our chow looked great after we came to get him. I loved how he wasn't crated but able to roam in a little gated area. They we're able to fix some areas our last groomers messed up on and our dog was really happy when we picked him up. I definitely recommend checking this place out and we already have the next appointments set. read more

My first time taking my dog there and they did an amazing job! He looks and smells wonderful!! My fiancé drop him off and he said the groomers were very nice and helpful I loved that they didn't crate my dog they let him play with other doggies and they even sent us the cutest picture of him after his grooming was done I have found our forever groomer...I will be recommending everyone I know to go there...thank you Star Mutts! read more

I had a really good groomer for a few years and she moved, so I needed to find a good place. I've been looking for a good groomer for a while for my two Yorkies and found Star Mutts on yelp. Specialties

Star Mutts Pet Grooming is different then most groomers and/or grooming shops. We set up appointments for your babies through out the day. We do not have babies dropped off in the morning and ask you to come pick them up later that afternoon no pet should be put in a cage for the entire day waiting to get groomed. We also do not cage your pet unless necessary. We have a nice space within the shop for them that is spacious and secure. We offer a wide arrange of grooming and bathing packages to fit everyone's needs. Need a late appointment or maybe a early appointment we will always work with you. We are often asked why we got into the grooming business here is our answer and our business motto "Because We Love What We Do"

History

Established in 2009.

Gwynn the owner and groomer of Star Mutts has a back ground in caring for people as well as animals for many years. She trained under another groomer for about a year with the understanding and agreement that she would be opening up her own grooming business. What made her decide to open her own grooming business if out of love for animals and after years of taking her dogs to groomers both very good and some that where not so good. She decided that this is what she wanted to do. She believes in giving back to her community and really loves what she does!

Our dog needed a cut bad cus his hair was growing out like crazy. He's never gotten groomed before…read moreso we didn't know how he would react. Found this place on Yelp and this was our second choice since our first choice did not answer their phone. We made a quick appt over the phone and it was smooth sailing. We ran a little bit late and tried to call while on the way but they were not picking up. We finally got to them literally a light away from there and they said they couldn't hear the phone cus of the dryers. We finally got there and we dropped him off. They said to come back within 2-3 hrs which was fine with us cus then he should be done right after our son gets out of school. They never called or texted till way later. I assume they had a lot of clients. Went back and got him all cleaned up. No special haircut or anything cus from what they said, our fluffy frenchie should not be cut like shaved off a lot cus they said his hair might not grow back a lot. So he got a good trim under his butt, behind his legs and the part that looks like a lions mane. They cut his nails but said it was hard cus he wouldn't really stay still. They cleaned his ears. They couldn't brush his teeth cus he was moving too much they said. So the lady told us to try to train him on that?.. the regular trim came wit cleaning ears and cutting nails so it was I think $80 or $85. I think it would've been $10 more for teeth brushing.. they added a lil bandana as well to his neck. So cute. The dude we talked to when dropping him off was koo but the lady after picking him up was a lil stiff and sounded frustrated.. the place is kinda expensive compared to our first choice that offered $60-$65 for the same thing. The place walking in had shelves that was all empty. Not sure why..

I have family members that bring their dog here, and we will not be returning. edit as of 11/09/2024 I was in contact with the owner, Marilyn, this morning. Over the phone she was great, cooperative, and understanding. She offered for me to come pick up cash from the business. I drove over about an hour later, and Miss Marilyn absolutely did a 180. She chastised me for "not specifying" that I wanted my dogs neck trimmed. She told me she fired her employee and she left in tears (not my issue - but she made it out to be). She let me know that "blasting her business on yelp" affects her family. I think what really affects her family is her gaslighting attitude. If you don't want your business reviewed on yelp, dont have a business page, and don't offer subpar services. I feel terrible for the employee caught in the crossfire but thankful she no longer has to work under such and unkind and unprofessional woman. Be aware, if you do not praise her services you will be attacked publicly.

We are so grateful to find a staff so professional and compassionate about what they do. We really had a hard time trying to find the right groomer for our dog ACE that unfortunately he did go through some difficult times and probably even some trauma..
