After some recent news stories about grooming incidents at various PetSmart locations, I decided to start bringing my Pekingese / poodle mix to Petco for grooming. We've been coming here for maybe the past 9 months and I've never had any issues. The staff is always very friendly and the prices are reasonable in my opinion. Today she got a bath and haircut, nail buffing, blueberry facial, and teeth brushing for $71. She looks great! She's very timid and the groomers always go above and beyond to try to calm her down and make her feel comfortable. I have no complaints about the grooming here. read more

Don't bring your pet here for a nail trim. We brought our puppy today for the 2nd time. The 1st time was fine, but this time both her front and bottom paws are/ were bleeding. I am very angry that they would be so careless. No wonder my puppy was crying so much. Never, ever again. We are forced to put medication and socks to try and protect her. I wanted to warn other pet owners, so they don't have to experience this horrible experience. The customer service can also go both ways. Sometimes they are very helpful, while sometimes they don't even acknowledge you. It's also a bit overpriced for the things they sell, but I don't think I will be coming back to this store. I am curious to see if other customers have experienced this and just didn't posted a review on Yelp. read more

Good evening, I would like to share an experience that I had tonight at your Bel Air, Md. store. I called to check on the time that your store was open, and I was told 8pm tonight. I took my granddaughter to the store, as she gets very excited visiting pet stores. We normally shop at PetSmart or Tom's tropicals in Perry Hall Md. This weekend, we were at our beach house in Ocean City Maryland, and we were so impressed with that OC store that I told my granddaughter that we would shop at the Bel Air store, when we got home, to get her a few fish. We could have purchased them at the Ocean City store, but I didn't think that they would survive the ride home. We did purchase some cat toys in Ocean City from your store. This was the end of my pleasant experience at your company. After calling your Bel Air store about hours of operation, we arrived at your store at 6:45pm, giving us an hour and a half to make our purchase (or so I thought),,,My Granddaughter found the tanks with guppies. She found the tank with the swordtails, and she found the tetra tank. I noticed that about half of the tanks had their lights out. There was an associate dipping a few dead fish from a different tank near us. I asked why are some of lights were out. She told me that they start to close the department at 6:30?? I asked if I could just get 2 guppies and 2 swordtails for my granddaughter. She told me that the aquatic specialist was closing down. She was the one dipping dead fish. Why couldn't she dip 4 fish out for us? She told us, with no empathy for my granddaughter to come back tomorrow. I could have dipped 4 fish out myself. These were not sea anemones or any fragile salt water fish. This were simple fresh water, easy to catch fish!!! This is a 20 mile round trip that I didn't even mention to her. I drove right past a much closer PetSmart to get to your store, which I also did not mention to her. I don't think that I will ever make a purchase in any of your stores, after this poor customer service. I am the manager of a large grocery store, dealing with 18,000 to 20,000 customers per week. Do you think that I would turn down a cake order, because that department is closed?? Someone would help our customer. Do you think that we wouldn't cut a watermelon if the produce was closed. Someone would cut the melon. Your clerk could have easily dipped our fish, or at least been more sympathetic. My granddaughter was very upset, that she could not get her fish. She is 5 years old and even wrote her own letter, which I will share across many social media platforms. I will use this as an example, when I train new associates, and I will ask new hires what could be done differently. Thank you for reading my complaint... So upset with the interaction with the grooming manager today. After receiving TWO email confirmations for my dog's grooming appointments, my appointments weren't honored on either of the days. I presented my email confirmations for both appointments but they must mean nothing. Yesterday, they had double booked (I guess) and they took the other dog over mine even though I had the email confirmation! Love this location. Aside from there never being any staff members to assist you lol.... But i don't care about that! I know for the most part what i need when i go into the store. But sometimes I do have questions, I have an english bulldog with a lot of allergies.... So some things I have to double check to make sure she can have them. I love their brand of food they offer, I think their prices are better than petsmart and I also feel they are higher quality. I will come back! read more

I visited Petco after a few disappointing visits to other pet stores looking to stock my newly cycled fish tank. The associate who helped me was incredibly knowledgable on fishkeeping, the tanks were all big and clean and the fish active and healthy. I picked up 20 fish and some brine shrimp, now I found my new pet store! read more
