With so many pet store options so close together, this happens to be my favorite of them all. Service is always friendly from each staff member and they're always looking to assist in any way. Yes they're not as big as Petsmart or Petco but they have everything I need including crickets that they sell by the units and not force you to buy a dozen at a time. They carry all top shelf quality dog food too and can suggest what's best for your 4 legged family member. Plus the other "larger stores" have so few employees working that you'll need to track a staff member each time you're in them. Give them a try and see the difference. I ended up getting a Guinea pig for my 7 year old daughter 3 days ago . I have a 2 year old son that became obsessed with guinea pig and it became a danger to him . He would open the cage and throw its "bedding" over he's head , on the floor , on the bed in which the guinea pig urinates and deficates every 15 minutes in . When I would put the cage up high on the dresser or table , my 2 year old son would spend all day climbing up on the dresser to the point where the dresser almost fell on him . I decided to return the guinea pig back to the store for the safety of the guinea pig and my sons . The girl at the register jessica didn't want to return the guinea pig after I spoke with the manager and told me it was the dumbest thing she's ever heard for a reason to return the small animal . She bahaved so unprofessional and acted if she wanted to fight because I needed to return the guinea pig for the safety of my son . read more

If i could put 0 star i would. On tuesday 24th of September at 2pm a manager and 2 employees who attended me were not helpful at all. They refused to get my broken/defected toy refunded or exchanged for a different one, it hasnt been nothing more then 24 hours since i bought the toys. In comparison to all other Pet Supermarket's I've been to, these guys ROCK!! Everyone was sooo friendly to me and Isis Prissy (my lovely pooch) The staff must have knew I was a new momma because they explained alot of things to me and even held little Isis while I had to shop. I'm usually a Petco-faithful lady, but my husband said to give the smaller place a try that was closer. I didn't want to, but acquiesced and said ok. Well, I'll be heading back to Petco, even though they're a little farther away, where I've never had an issue. So here's a story of poor customer service for everyone else, and a customer service lesson/training for Ivan, the "manager". My poor 15 year old dog had some sort of allergic reaction to something and his foot was in BAD shape and he started chewing at it. I ran in before work and grabbed a neck cuff, but it turned out to be the wrong size (measurements on the packaging were way off) but I had to run to work. I gerry-rigged something to hold him over until after work, when I could run back to the store and exchange it for the correct size. I finished work in South Beach at 8:25pm. I knew I was going to have to haul tail to get to Pet Supermarket in time, but I pulled it off. I was literally 2 lights away and it was 8:57pm (they close at 9). I called ahead and explained to Kelsy (who answered the phone) that I understand they close at 9, I don't need to shop, just switch the item because my dog's feet are about to bleed if he chews them any more. She stated that they closed at 9 and if I wasn't there by then, I needed to come back the next day. I pull up to the front door (literally RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT) as the clock goes from 8:59 to 9, I walk up to the door. She is coming to the door at the same time. I hear her tell the manager, "She's here. This is her." He told her they wouldn't help me because he closed the register, so she locks it. I know, I was shocked too. Now, mind you, he knew IN ADVANCE, so since he closed the register and already had money pulled out and counting (yes, I actually saw him with the money already pulled out and counting), he closed it before 9 or was chomping at the bit for the clock to go from 8:59 to 9 and deny aid to a customer he knew was about to pull up. So, I was up and down all night taking care of Einstein because I didn't want his feet to bleed before getting him to the vet. Tired, I dragged myself there to exchange the cuff the next afternoon after getting up early to have my dog's foot cared for that morning. It LITERALLY took about 1 minute (because the cuffs are right by the front door and cash register)! Ivan would not have died, nor would the store have been hit by a comet, had he shown a shred of compassion the night before. *** Here's a lesson in customer service from someone who worked as a manger in retail and, when I was moving, customers came to the store just to tell me thank you for years of excellent service and that they were sad to see me move away: Customer: My pet's foot is about to bleed and I have to exchange the cuff I bought this morning. I just left work and I'm 2 lights away. My GPS says I will get there AT 9, but I'm trying to get there quicker. Competent Manager: I'll have the cuff waiting for you at the counter. TA-DA!!! Excellent customer service! A pup whose feet won't be bleeding that night, a raving review of your competency, and a loyal customer. read more

I came in this afternoon to buy some food for my pet and as I passed by the reptiles I saw these two poor babies looking so stressed out. I'm honestly infuriated with the way this place seems to treat their animals. Chameleons aren't supposed to be kept in the same enclosure they're very territorial animals and I recall during a previous visit to this same store asking an employee why they kept two chameleons together and they told me "oh when we see them get grey we separate them" like what?! Why would you wait until they're at that point especially so young this stress could kill them :( this is a pet store maybe get staff that actually care about the animals ? You can see how a chameleon is supposed to look in the third picture, that's my lil guy. You guys sell these chameleons for $80 and their enclosure for beginners is like $150 I would know I've bought all my things from this chain. If you can't keep up with the needs of the pets just don't keep them in store because this is just heartbreaking. read more

I went in to purchase a fish today, and shortly after I got home, it died. I felt so bad and a little embarrassed that it only lived under my care for like two hours. However, I took it back in and they didn't ask questions, they simply asked if I would like to return or exchange. I was so relieved that they kept me feeling positive. If ignorance and stupidity were a commodity, this site would have the market cornered. Example: They were unable and unwilling to process a Visa Gift card(s) that are universally accepted... this is a major chain store... Dunkin Donuts next door took it, home depot took it... every store takes these Visa cards... cashier had glazed over eyes, ended up just starting blankly at me until a manager walked over, tried one time to process the Visa card and just walked away. She helped me get the right sizes, colors, everything for my new chihuahua. She even recommended getting the little bells so no one would step on my little fur baby. I use to come to pet supermarket all the time with my dad. We either had to buy fish food bird food or a gold fish for me lol. It brought back so many memories when I come here with my friend to but food for her cat. It has everything you could possibly need for your pet even a doctor area and grooming area what an update. This is a typical south Florida store where the management seems intent on hiring nice kids, 18-23 who are pet lovers and certainly want to be helpful but in many ways give them no training in customer service or even in working with a knowledgeable idea of their own merchandise. I come here to use my pet oriented coupons for additional savings but sometimes I don't know why I bother; the poor check out counter help inevitably look at me with the blank stare of a mongoloid and seem flustered and bewildered by the simple mathematical act of subtracting fifty cents from a coupon for cat food - it gets so annoying; they have to call over a manager - the one beleaguered manager who does seem to know his arse from his elbow and actually tries to sufficiently help the other 20 people roaming around asking questions willy nilly. Being south Florida and this being a pet store it means you have the negligent parents who seem (and can one blame them seeing what garbage they've bred) far more concerned about Fluffy then they do their own adolescents running amok unattended. You also have the local divas abutting the abusive children with their favorite mascots tied to glittering faux diamond leashes oohing and aahing over the latest grotesque frock to embarrass an already humiliated Chihuahua or some other poor small dog with. So what should be a 10 minute checkout experience is a 45 minute nightmare and why oh why do I go back? Because I too am a simple schmo who honestly believes if I pay $1.00 more a can for healthy organic cat food that honestly wouldn't look too bad on a wafer served up to guests as pate my simple street beasts who would be all too happy with a can of tuna will live longer and love me more - in short I return because I am a fool. read more
