On Sunday morning, Skylar was experiencing concerning symptoms, and his regular veterinarian was closed. I called VEG Miami, explained the situation, and was encouraged to bring him in. My veterinarian had previously recommended VEG, and despite the 45-minute drive, I'm so glad I chose them. Parking was initially a nightmare, but once I learned there were dedicated VEG client spaces, I was able to move my car. A very kind gentleman on staff even took Skylar inside while I relocated it. That kindness set the tone for our entire visit. From check-in through discharge, everyone was compassionate, patient, professional, and genuinely caring. We were immediately given a private room with a sofa, where Skylar could be comfortable and less stressed. We arrived around 9 a.m. and left after 2 p.m., and we were never rushed. We stayed in that room throughout the visit, and Skylar was allowed to recover fully from sedation before going home. The team performed labs and X-rays, carefully evaluated his condition, and explained the findings. They also raised a concern about a medication Skylar had taken longer than recommended and ran additional tests to check for harm. Thankfully, the results were reassuring. Dr. Brannon was outstanding: patient, knowledgeable, informative, and genuinely attentive. He listened to my concerns and made me feel heard. He even offered more economical recommendations regarding a surgery Skylar's regular veterinarian had suggested. Emergency care is expensive, and VEG Miami is no exception. But I have no objection to paying premium prices for premium care. What especially touched me was that Dr. Brannon personally came into our room to apologize for the treatment quote and express his hope that I understood. As a business manager myself, I assured him that I completely understood and appreciated his thoughtfulness. He didn't owe me an apology, but that gesture spoke volumes about his compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Brannon, Nurses Manuela and Dayana, and CEC Priscilla. I wish I'd gotten everyone's names, because every single person we encountered was spectacular! My previous emergency veterinary experiences were at Knowles 24 Hour Hospital in North Miami. While its doctors were always excellent, my experiences with the other staff were less positive. VEG Miami's exceptional care and service made a remarkable difference. And the kindness didn't stop at discharge! On Tuesday morning, VEG texted to check on Skylar and invited me to call with any follow-up questions or concerns. Outstanding! What could have been an overwhelming day left me grateful, reassured, and confident Skylar was in excellent hands. Despite the distance, VEG Miami will be my first choice for emergency care for any of my pets. This was one of the most traumatic experiences my family has ever gone through. I brought my dog to VEG because he was repeatedly vomiting and we were terrified something was seriously wrong. Instead of leaving feeling that everything possible had been done for him, we left without our dog and with serious questions about his care. From my experience, the entire process felt more like a money-making assembly line than compassionate emergency veterinary care. Every step seemed to involve another charge, another estimate, and another financial decision while we were scared and emotionally vulnerable. I understand emergency veterinary care is expensive, and I was willing to spend whatever I reasonably could to save my dog. What bothered me was how much the financial side seemed to dominate the experience. After stating what was going on with my dog, I asked to give him X-Ray to find out what was going on. They insisted on bloodwork first and diagnostics to charge me $1700. Then they decided to do the X-Ray which was determined all along that he swallowed something. My dog had swallowed an underwear and was actually able to pass it. But this is why question the practice. My dog was in good spirits at this time. Not until the harsh abdominal examination by Dr. M that he was given that even my son said why so hard, my dog's condition worsened. He started vomiting again then diarrhea with blood. For less work for them, they added a rectal tube. At this point he had not passed the article of clothing but it was almost there. I'm in the medical field and questioned. How are going to add a rectal tube if he needs to pass an item. They said it's fine and gave me some excuse adding more distress to my poor dog. At this point, everything went down hill. I felt increasingly pressured toward euthanasia. I am now left wondering whether that was truly the only option, whether more could have been done, and whether enough time was given to see if he could recover. Lack of practice, sympathy, and education lead to all this. The hardest part was the lack of compassion. When a family is facing the possible loss of a beloved pet, they deserve patience, clear explanations, alternatives, and sensitivity. Instead, I felt overwhelmed, pressured, and emotionally cornered into making a permanent decision. My dog was not just a pet. He was family. I have requested his complete medical records because I plan to have his care independently reviewed. I never received an exact explanation of our dog's care and what they were going to do. Just more costs. Of course, I have not received anything after requesting this. I can absolutely say that our experience was devastating and left us questioning everything. I just received a phone call saying, hey, your dog's ashes are ready. Come pick them up. I strongly encourage anyone bringing a critically ill pet here to ask detailed questions, understand every charge and treatment, and seek a second opinion if your pet is stable enough to allow it. We trusted VEG during one of the most vulnerable moments of our lives. We left heartbroken, angry, and wondering whether things could have ended differently. All this in less than 24 hours! My male cat Kona had urinary blockage. As he's my first male cat, I had no idea what to do but I…read moreknew it could be deadly so I got him to VEG right away. They got us into a treatment room, went over a few less invasive options but while none of that worked, he got pain meds and they cleared the blockage under a light anesthesia. I was surprised he had to stay for 48 hours, but they explained why it was important. He got a recovery cage in a quiet cat room and I was able to visit a couple times a day till he was ready to go home. The vets and nurses were all helpful in answering my questions. Kona has been home for 3 weeks now and doing great on a new diet and a fancy new water fountain. For anyone who goes there with their pet, here's a few details I can share: There is plenty of parking there. They have a lot of patients and some are in more dire situations than your pet and I think they do their best to triage who needs what and when. Due to that, there's times when you may have to wait a bit to get someone to come over and answer a question. They have a little area with coffee and drinks. They have a few rooms with couch beds in case you need to sleepover with your fur baby. They even have blankets for humans. They can text you and call you 24/7. Sometimes you have to wait for a Dr to get on the phone but as I said, some patients are in more urgent need. Once Kona was stable, I did my best to respect that. If your baby has to stay overnight, the staff does visit and give them attention to check on everything periodically, they are not just left in the cage. They will send discharge documents to you and your regular vet. I have been there before with both my cats when they had diarrhea for too long and got dehydrated. It was a much less dire situation then, but that was a positive experience too.

First she recommended me to leave my dog overnight for a cost of over 5k than when I said I wouldn't leave my baby there she started saying my dog was not responding to the treatment and very quickly her new alternative was euthanasia. So if I had paid 5k to leave my dog there would I pay 5k to have her euthanized the next morning? The whole interaction with her was awful and it was just not worse because I was basically unable to think straight. I left with a 2k bill and without my baby. When I asked for the exams she said she did, they sent me a few things but even though I paid for a ultrasound I didnt get any images. I emailed them about it and they say they didnt save it. Why would I pay for something and they would not keep it to share with me if needed? When I emailed them questioning I receive no response. One disappointment after another. I have other dogs so I already did my research on other Emergency vets in the area and I hope you do as well instead of taking your loved pet here.
