I called on Sunday for an emergency visit because my cat seemed to have ingested flea treatment. Dr. Jimenez answered and asked me of my cat's symptoms, what product I used, and asked me to call him back when I find the active ingredients in the treatment. I called back and he says my cat will have to stay over night. My husband drops him off in a soft carrier, it felt strange and foreign due to the coronavirus situation so he pulled up to the drive-way and the Dr. picked up my cat from the car. We did not know what the procedure was like, no signing, no payment, and it was just a waiting game from then. He called 3 hours later with diagnostics and says I can pick him up the next day. I ask how much and the Dr. says $200 for ER AND $75 for Anesthesia. After the phone call he sends me an invoice of $956.71 I called the next morning and the receptionist answers "Please hold! We're very busy this morning"..... lol I don't give a !!!! if you are slow or busy just tell me "Please hold" and go on with your day. Hearing a frantic employee at their job is aggravating enough that I have to anticipate the condition of my fur baby. I finally talk to the Dr. and he tells me to pick up my cat midday but to call before arriving. My husband had to pay via phone prior to picking him up. Then they delivered my cat to the car after 30 min. Results: My cat is not gagging, throwing up, and is less lethargic than prior visit. He is still sneezing. His tail is up and he's walking around. He ate and now uses the litter which is relieving. All in all, as long as my cat is healthy then I'm ok with paying the $950 for my cat's ER visit. However, customer service could have been better, a follow-up would have been appreciated with care advice when taking the cat. For some reason my cat now smells like urine but... it's fine because he's alive right? read more

3 weeks ago I brought my kitten here. She was puking and hadn't been eating more than 1 tbsp of food per day. She was lethargic and visibly nauseous. This clinic asked: is she a new cat?; maybe she's still acclimating. I assured them this wasn't the case. They dismissed my concerns. I requested, and eventually paid for, emergency services because walk-ins were full (but not for the right price) and got nothing. Still I stressed that she needed fluids and was visibly nauseous. Kelly said she would issue her fluids and cerenia for the nausea. I took my cat home and she puked immediately. This is a sign that she wasn't given the cerenia. When I called Raul - the owner - dismissed me until I wrote a bad review. Then and ONLY then was he so inclined to ask me to bring my kitten back for further examination in order to get me to edit my review of him. I informed him that he lost my business and would be taking my cat to another vet. Immediately the other vet identified the symptoms my kitten exhibited as FPV or feline distemper: a virus that is do dangerous to cats that there is no cure. She only had 1 vaccination b and came in contact with the virus. With supportive care she lived another week before dying. I wonder how many cats his team carelessly exposed that day. I wonder if he cares that my cat died. I guess I don't have to wonder. I know the answer. He doesn't care. Hopefully no other animal has to die because of an owner that blames staff and cares only about the money. read more

Dr Jimenez is a very professional vet whom I've been taking my two Maltese to Dr Jimenez for over a decade. He is genuine and knows what he is doing and a caring person. Poohbear my boy is 12 and Cocoabear my girl is 8 (left in the picture) He knows what he's doing and does a great job managing all the different dogs that he cares for! That's the difference, he CARES for your dogs, it's not just a business to him. The prices are most likely less expensive than anywhere else on the mainland or especially the beach! Vets are doctors, doctors are expensive so just get over it. Frankly, I think his prices are better than anywhere else on the beach or the mainland. He doesn't try to max out the prices on everything which is what most of the other Vets do around here, THAT'S why I have been going to him for more than a decade! The first time I encountered Christine I swore I would never Come back. However due to circumstances I had no option. Well, nothing changed and she still has a terrible attitude and treats customers horribly. Alex the girl at the front is also terrible! "Oh by the way you're going to get a fine because your dogs vaccines are out dated by 3 months...well Alex I brought my dog FOUR months ago and Two months ago and no one mentioned that to me!"it's the owners responsibility to know" she said about 5 times. Should I even add the fact that 2 months ago we paid $600 for an X-ray check up from a surgery and never got the results? The doctors said that there was a "power outage" and the photos were "lost." Ok so when do I get my refund? Oh you're not getting a refund because it's out of out control". RIDICULOUS. Also almost every time I've ever gone in the doctor is out on an "emergency". I don't think the doctor is even there or doing the work. I think the nurses with the terrible attitude are doing the procedures because the actual doctor is NEVER there.... We had a horrible scare late night with our 7 year old Spring Spaniel Tyson . The dog was wheezing and vomiting blood . The only place close to our house that we knew was open was Biscayne Veterinary Center . I was skeptical to go there at first because there were some unfriendly reviews on Yelp but due to the dire state of our dog we went with it . We arrived at close to midnight and within 10 minutes Dr Jimenez arrived . Due to Covid we handed over our dog Tyson to Dr J outside . The Doctor immediately took some x rays while we waited outside and advised us that his lungs were full of liquid and that he would immediately start giving Tyson medicine and oxygen to help him with his breathing . He told us to go home and would be in touch . Around 1 am he called us with an update that our dog was in critical but stable condition . From that point on Dr J would call us twice a day every day for the next 5 days giving us thorough updates . Tyson was in Dr Js care for a total of 5 days . My family could not be more grateful to Dr Jimenez and his staff they did an incredible job and saved our dogs life . In addition the final bill was extremely reasonable and fair . read more

Dr Jimenez is great. I actually met Dr Jimenez at the morning coffee spot near his office. Very friendly guy and then proceeded to switch vets and bring my frenchie to him. My dog had a very serious back injury and Dr Jimenez met me at 8 pm on a Sunday called me that he sedated my dog put him on nsaids and next morning called me to tell me condition deteriorated and sent my dog to the best neurosurgeon in town for successful back surgery. Pepe treats with Dr Jimenez on a regular basis for occasional issues. My 11 year old Boston Terrier had an acute pancreatitis attack over the weekend and Dr. Jimenez whom came highly recommend, not only answered the phone at 7am on a Sunday morning but met me at his office within 30min. He immediately hospitalized my dog, diagnosed him in a day or so and began therapy. My senior dog was very ill and dying he required around the clock care and was hospitalized for four days. Dr Jimenez went in at 3am to check on my sick pup and feed him by hand. In all the years I have had vets and in several different cities I have never had one do this. I have had good vets, that's not hard to find however I have never seen one work with the dedication Dr Jimenez does, he is honest but incredible kind. His staff is gracious and helpful as well. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. I typically don't write reviews, but this situation warranted a review. I have a 3 lb malti-poo who was stepped on and fractured his leg. I took him afterhours to the ER and saw Dr. Jimenez. Dr. Jimenez kept him overnight to do some X-rays. He told me he would consult orthopedic specialists and we would discuss the treatment options with me the next day. The next morning, I picked him up and we went over the options. He told me inserting a plate via surgery would be too complicated to do on a dog so small. So, he said the best option was to just immobilize it with a cast and let it heal on its own. He seemed to care and know what he was talking about, so I trusted him. I should of paid attention to some of the red flags. Every time I called the clinic with a question, the receptionist would answer and tell me that someone would get back to me, but no one ever did. I would have to just keep calling until I was lucky and got a hold of him. I brought him in one week after, and then every two weeks after that. Each time they did X-rays on his leg and the vet said the bone looked like it was healing well and that there was a "95% chance that it would heal properly." I took him to see Dr. Jimenez 4 separate times. I was moving from Miami, so when I took him for his last checkup/x-rays, that's when I realized something was wrong. He told me that the bone didn't look like it was healing well--it wasn't healing straight. He advised that maybe I should go get another opinion from another vet...which he knew I was going to do anyway, because he knew I was moving. When I asked for the records of all my visits and X-rays, he was missing the X-rays and information from an entire visit. I moved back to Orlando and took him to an orthopedic specialist. They were alarmed when they saw the condition of my dog's leg. They said the fracture was NO WHERE near healing. In fact, the fracture had rotated 90 degrees. Because of the non-healing fracture, there was not enough blood supply to maintain a healthy bone, so my dog was at risk of LOSING HIS LEG if they didn't act fast. The surgeon stabilized the fracture (which had rotated 90 degrees) via an internal fixation with a small plate and bone graft to improve the chances of healing. If it wasn't for the orthopedic vet, my dog probably would've lost his leg. The surgeon didn't understand how Dr. Jimenez could have advised me the way he did--the chances of healing were almost none, especially after the second and third X-rays showing nearly no signs of healing. Also, anytime an ER vet gets a complicated fracture like that, it needs to be referred to orthopedics. I should've maybe taken my dog to other clinics for second opinions, but I really thought my little one was in good hands with Dr. Jimenez. It's really disappointing that people who devote their life to taking care of our animals can be so careless :( Even though thousands of dollars were spent, I am just so relieved that my dog's little leg is healing properly now! Thank goodness I moved from Miami, because if I hadn't...who knows what would've happened!!! Long story short, I recommend you save yourself the trouble and take your pet elsewhere. read more

If I could, I would give these guys a zero star review. I used to use these guys as my back up "emergency" vet because they are closer than my preferred vet. Not any more. They are alarmist in their diagnosis, their front desk is terrible in terms of customer service, and they are 100% in it for the money. Example #1: Brought my male cat in to them because he had blood in his urine (classic UTI). Without looking at his chart, Dr. Jimenez said, "What a fine looking cat, he looks and acts well cared for for his age." Upon hearing and reading what the what the issue was, however, he changed his tune and suddenly was telling me that my cat needed to be hospitalized for "kitty dialysis" for at least two days probably longer. I declined because I wanted the opinion of the vet that's treated my cat for the last 8 years (spoiler alert: He didn't need hospitalization, he needed antibiotics and is now on the mend and back to his old self). Example #2: Another visit, they pressured me to take x-rays of my female cat. The tech--not even the doctor--proceeded to tell me that her organs were pushing up through or against her esophagus and she probably had cancer. Their recommendation: expensive surgery. Again declined treatment from them, shared the x-rays with my normal vet who shook his head--there was neither misplaced organs nor was there cancer. She had an inflamed liver because of an infection... which we treated with antibiotics. Example #3: Just talked with whomever answers their emergency clinic phone--a man--and he literally laughed at me and hung up on me when I asked a question about potentially circumventing tests that my regular vet had already run if I brought my cat in because she needs an appetite stimulant. I get how emergency vets work, but I also don't expect to be laughed at by some front desk clerk. I won't be paying another red cent to this clinic and neither should you. read more

I have taken a friends dog to this place and they were very helpful but most recently during this Covid-19 situation my pup Goldie was very sick and not eating and lethargic. I was very worried about her. I called and made an appointment. They had me wait in the car to be safe while they took Goldie inside. Dr. Jimenez communicated with me throughout. I took her home with instructions. I was still worried the next night and I called. Dr. Jimenez answered the call, said he would check her chart and call back. He did. Went over everything with me and said if she wasn't better by morning to bring her in. She was better. I was so impressed by the care and quick response from the Dr. and the cost for everything was reasonable. I highly recommend this veterinarian. A great Dr. with great bedside manner. Dr. Jimenez is one of the few who actually cares out there. Took my baby Jorge to the animal welfare hospital in south Dixie after noticing he was having a hard time breathing. They took x-Rays and claimed that he had fluid in his lungs and that he needed an oxygen chamber and they could only after oxygen for 30 min and I would have to take him else where. Mind you elsewhere was trying to charge me $800 + for oxygen and blood work. Frantic and desperate my friend recommended dr. Jimenez. I went to his office with the X-rays of my kitty and explained to him how tight on money I was he was very understanding told me to bring the cat and that we would work everything else out after. He gave my Jorge 2 antibiotic shots and he was good as new within minutes. Normal breathing by the next morning and all his tests came out negative. Always get a 2nd opinion and know that dr. I came here to check out my dogs teeth! Since she's a little older she had to get blood drawn to make sure she was okay to schedule a next appointment to remove some teeth and take out all the dirty she has in some teeth. She is not only old but she weighs less than 5 pounds !!! She got her blood taken, after coming home and checking her there is a HUGE bruising spot in her neck, I wouldn't even consider it a bruise it looks like it would be internal bleeding, it's horrible after taking blood from her neck! I called to tell them what was wrong, and the lady said that's normal it happens with a dog moves, what! That bruising doesn't look like my dog just moved it looks like they beat her up in there, usually I'm able to go in with her and watch the doctor do his work, but due to covid I had to stay outside in the waiting room. This isn't normal, the amount of force they put on a little dog is unbelievable. This could've killed her due to her size, no way two big a** men would need that much force on my 4 pound dog. I would not recommend coming here during these times and not being able to see what they are doing to your dog. read more

I do not recommend this Vet. . It's a lot of smoke-and-mirrors. I've been to various Vets. in the last 12 years on Miami Beach and in Miami. Some have been good. Some have been over-priced. We go to Greater Miami Animal Hospital; normally My dog was having stomach issues. I was leaving town for a trip. I didn't want to leave her with the sitter having problems; obviously. Unfortunately, our Vet. was on vacation. (Summer, July.) I waited 1 hour and 40+ minutes for him to show up for the appointment. I was told by the receptionist that, "He had to go home after surgery to clean-up." Seemed odd to me at the time. He arrived apologetic. Typical, Miami b.s. claiming, "There must have been a shooting on 79th St...the traffic was stopped..."?! Obviously, that wasn't the case. Whatever, lame excuse for making appointments and showing up so late. He knew I was not in the mood for his nonsense. More importantly, he took some expensive x-rays of her stomach, prescribed an antibiotic, and took her blood. He was not going to send her blood to the lab unless I approved it. There is a substantially high charge for sending it to the lab. That's never happened before. No Vet. has ever asked me if I wanted the blood sent to the lab and the fee is always significantly less.(I have all my receipts from all our visits over the years.) He charged me for some 'disposal fee'. I've never seen that before. They offered me a minimal "discount" for the Vet. being so late. $500+ later he really did nothing for my dog. He certainly did not solve the issue. Their creative way of charging for bad service will be reported to the Better Business Bureau and Department of Business and Professional Regulation. I don't mind paying for good service and a resolution. This was not the case. read more

I can't believe it's almost been a decade since we started taking our schnauzers to Dr. Jimenez and I've never written a review. All I can say is he is an amazing veterinarian and human being. The last three years have been quite a journey with our Choco. He was diagnosed with cancer but Dr. Jimenez really fought for him. After spleen surgery he told me he really thought based on his age he had another two good years left in him. Especially because he was strong! He was 13 at the time. Dr. Jimenez became like family and whenever we called him he was available to talk to us and give us honest but compassionate advice. In December Choco was not looking good. We took him in and Dr. Jimenez advised that his cancer had returned. Choco was almost 15 and he had lived a very loved life! We did not want him to suffer. Well almost two years later and our Choco passed away peacefully yesterday. We called Dr. Jimenez at 5:30pm on Saturday and he told us to meet him in his office immediately. He knew it was time and he wanted to make this process for Choco and us as easy and painless as possible. We can't thank him enough. I would not go to any other vet. He is the best! read more

I just took a stray 2 days ago, the vet didn't even call me to discuss the animal or call the next day to see how he was doing. After I told them I couldn't afford the treatment, they just told me to come pick up the dog and that's the last I heard of them. I ended up going to Animal Welfare Society. Please for the love of your pet stay away from this place. I brought my cat in for simple bloodwork due to sporadic seizures. Jimenez said it was the liver and said she had another seizure during the bloodwork and died. After a second opinion from another vet, certain vets use a cheap sedative that 1 out of 8 cats respond fatally to. Not having my cat eat or drink anything before the bloodwork and then Jimenez sedating her because she was too "frantic", caused my cat to go into shock and killed her. This is a doctor that has no fucking clue what he is doing and should have his license revoked. The feeling of him killing my cat and not being able to do anything about it makes it hurt even more. read more

The vet diagnosed my dog with a colon infection and said the blood and worms was due to a food change. They took a worm exam and said it was negative. which I found hard to believe since I literally had pictures of his earlier feces with WORMS in it. I was charged a ridiculous amount for some 7 day colon treatment. A few days ago when I'm walking my supposedly all healthy and better dog, I noticed worms, big ones, so I know he's had them this whole time. How can they slip up on something so common and something that I literally showed them pictures of. I agree with the first review, THIS PLACE IS ALL PROFIT AND NO LOVE! read more

We didn't have a choice as I was concerned about my dog. We paid $412 and came back 2 hours later to pick up my dog. Dr. Jimenez acted like he had done the stitches free. He didn't have any directions for us as to what to do or how to care for the dog. The stitches came out the next day. He did a terrible job with the wound all together (I posted the photos). I had to take my dog to another bed the next day. As I didn't want to take him here again. Paid another $400 but that's when I saw the difference in the actual work. When we walked in he didn't acknowledge the dog once. Did not talk to him. Just directed us to put him on the table. He treated him like he was an object. Terrible service, very unprofessional. I owe my dog's life to Dr. Jimenez and his team. My dog was viciously attacked at 1am last Saturday night and had major organ damage in addition to bleeding profusely. I called Dr. Jimenez and his answering service immediately routed my call to him. He met me at his clinic within 10 minutes, and came to my car to help bring my dog inside. With the extensive damage, I thought for sure I would be advised to put him down, but Dr. Jimenez operates on him all through the night. He has been extremely proactive in keeping me updated about my dogs treatment plan, and he graciously works around my work schedule to give me time to visit with my dog even after normal business hours. He treated my other dog last year when she stepped on a bee and had a stinger embedded in her paw and I never forgot how gentle and compassionate he was to her. He picked her up and started signing to her while petting her and she let him examine her paw even though she was in a lot of pain. I can't thank him enough! Please keep his practice in your contact list because if you ever need emergency surgery for your animal you will not find a better resource. read more
