I have been going to Helpet for almost 2 years now and they have always been helpful, transparent, caring and available. As for pricing - they are incredibly reasonable relative to other vets I have seen in the local area. My senior dog recently had a horror story Rover incident and needed emergency attention - I CANNOT THANK the staff enough for their kindness, attention and support we received during this incident. I took my little cat to HelPet to get neutered and vaccinated. It's a super chic and modern vet center. The vet was kind and spoke to me about all my concerns. I didn't feel rushed. I felt like an important client and that Dr. Henaoi truly cared for my pet. They called me as soon as Casper was neutered to give me updates and the nurse/MA was very kind and patient with me when she explained the medications and post care. If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is extremely OVERPRICED. This is not the first time I have had issues with them either. Not only do They limit your orders so you have to pay more for preventative medicines, but they overcharge you for office visits, possible procedure quotes and basically anything else they can rip you off for. The amount of money they charge for dental cleanings etc. I ONLY used this vet due to it being next to my condo. DO NOT RECOMMEND. We have two senior dogs and their health problems were beginning to become very frequent and they needed a serious new routine. Unfortunately we had to part with our previous vet provider, they essentially could not support the dogs. Luckily in our backyard is Helpet. Such a amazing office with a supportive staff. We are so appreciative towards Dr. Henao and her approach to our dogs. Our Basset Hound has progressive arthritis and she has been our captain in crafting a routine for her. Review I'm not a "write a review" kind of person, but my experience at Helpet was so unbelievably bad today that I feel the need to warn others. I called and tried to schedule a dental cleaning appointment for my dog, and they said that the dog needed to come in for an examination before they could schedule. They also said that he was due for his Bordetella so I made an appointment that was supposed to cover both. I took time off of work to attend, and upon arrival, they still allowed me to go to the room, and once I was inside told me that they had no Bordetella vaccination in stock, something that they've known since this morning (my appt was in the afternoon). They then told me they made another mistake and no examination was needed prior to scheduling a dental cleaning for a dog. I I said OK and went back to the front desk where I tried to schedule the dental cleaning and it was then that they shared that the doctor that handles the dental cleaning is out on maternity leave and therefore isn't taking any of those appointments for at least another 45 days. All of these details should've been handled by providing accurate information over the phone instead of having a client take time out of work and pay for expensive midtown parking for multiple mistakes made by the office. This is not the first time I've had a bad experience at this location, but it is the last because I'm choosing a different vet from now on. It's a shame because Dr. Rivas is great with the animals, but the office is managed so poorly that it's not worth the headache. Do yourself a favor, and choose a different vet. read more

They are happy to take your money to bring your pet in for routine checkups. Don't expect them to call back if your pet is very sick and you need help. I brought my pets there for 2 years. My cat is very sick and won't eat. I called several days ago and no one will call back. I called today and talked to the receptionist - they said this is normal for them and I shouldn't expect a call unless the vet happens to have time during lunch. Too bad for my sick cat. I can not recommend this vet more than 5 stars, so I'm going to do my best to give justice to the 10 stars I was going to give. This is not a paid ad, this is just my personal experience. So, here goes! Reeba is 12, old, and very picky. I've never been one to brush a cats teeth and that's totally on me. So I decided it was time to get her teeth cleaned or pulled. They say 3rd times the charm, we after two other vet offices (who's name I will leave out) who completely missed the point of animal health care and any other illness Reeba had, I finally found a doctor at Helpet who was upfront and clear with me about his pricing schedule and associated costs. Clarity is key folks. This doctor saved the day after being jerked around by the two previous experiences with no clarity at all. How much clarity does Helpet give the customer? He quoted me prices before she was even seen, polished her up with additional meds to cure an underlying infection that I thought was ear mites, and sent me a digital copy of all the office visit records, the photos of before and after the surgery, and a copy of the xrays. It really doesn't get better than that. (My previous experience was a vet who hand wrote everything and worked on such an antiquated system, he also patronized me saying a full mouth extraction was upwards of 10k- which is ridiculous ) This office is clearly popular, as when I arrived to pick her up, there were at least 4 other owners waiting. But it's also clear that the staff can handle the pressure, and with complete grace, professionalism, and kindness! I can see why they are popular! Keep it up Helpet, you have a rockin' team, and I'm grateful I found you. My trust is in full swing here. read more

I do not recommend this vet unless you literally live next door. I guess I'm fortunate to have had good vets up in NY who feel more like family. I called Helpet days after I adopted my dog because it seemed to have pneumonia. I asked if they had the same resources as a hospital in case he needed to stay overnight, to which they replied "yes". This was false. They took hundreds of dollars from me and then instructed me to take the dog to another animal hospital, leaving me double billed!! Additionally, they continued to refer to my male puppy as "her" and "she". When they suspected he may have an ear infection, they didn't even check until I asked them specifically. After asking they concluded his ears were infected, but didn't even give me the treatment. The only reason I even have the treatment is because, while I was putting my puppy in the car, one of the staff members watched as an employee next door stole my phone and then left work to do whatever with it across the street. Once I retrieved the phone back and called in to complain to the doctor, did I get a chance to ask (and pay additional $ for) the ear medication. When I asked why they did all of these things they simply said it wasn't their responsibility to "recover" my phone (I was 20 feet away putting my dog in the car), and that they're glad THEY healed my puppy's pneumonia (they didn't - the animal hospital did). They may be good people. They may be good doctors. But their service is something I haven't seen in a while: horrible. They need to learn how to run a business that both benefits them AND their customers. I strongly recommend against using Helpet. read more

Stole my money far as I am concerned. Went in for a general checkup and a couple biopsies during which doctor recommended blood and urine testing, to which I agreed. After agreeing and paying they said they couldn't collect the urine sample and I would need to collect it myself and drop it back off. They never mentioned in person a deadline to drop off the sample. They called me twice about the (normal) blood work and (negative) biopsy results, and again mentioned nothing about the urine test. They emailed me twice about those results as well, again nothing about the urine. Well apparently on the second page of an attachment in the emails for the (normal) bloodwork results there was some fine print about needing the return the urine test in 30 days. I didn't see that (obviously) so when I ultimately did bring back the urine they refused to provide the test or refund any of my money. I emailed them about this complaint and they said they would get back to me but they never did. Best case negligent, worst case unethical. read more

They are always very attentive to my dog and are understanding of the amount of questions I ask as well as my level of nervousness. My dog got very sick last week and I had to leave her there for the day to be hooked up to an IV. When I called to check up on her, the doctor himself gave me an update on how she was doing and calmed my concerns. She is better now thankfully and I will continue to bring her in for her annual visit. While pricier than my previous vet, the pricing matches up with the area. read more

Horrible service. My dog was diagnosed with a life threatening staff infection. Dr. Rivas did not let me know this infection was passed down to humans (low risk) I have an immunocompromised person living with me. Totally unprofessional. I tried calling to understand the diagnosis better and was told he was off for 2 days and I needed to email him. I asked for a call and said no one could call me back. As can imagine I had a notepad full of questions since now this infection affects humans. Very very unprofessional on his part. He didn't make me aware of this zoonotic disease. He also didn't give me proper instructions on how to administer my dogs medication. Dr Rivas made it clear I was ruining is day off. I have it all on email. He didn't like the ton I used with his receptionist when I became frustrated over the phone over his lack of care. I'm sorry doctor but the severity of a staff infection should be handled in a more professional way. You should sit your clients down and explain it all at length. You should also make the owners aware that there IS A RISK for them to catch a staff infection. Dr. Rivas didn't like my intensity over the phone with his staff so he told me to find another vet. ha pretty epic response. Beware all owners. This office is has not responded well to my dogs infection or gave me proper instruction with care. In fact his email stated I ruined his day off. Imagine a patient dealing with a deadly staff infection to be told to email the doctor and the doctor responds you ruining their day off. I will be reporting him. Having met several vets in the lifetime of our senior dog Freddy, we are extremely pleased and thankful for the care and expertise of Dr. Rivas! Freddy had an unspecified mass in his belly, and the surgery has been done, although complicated, very well. Even though Freddy is almost 15 years old, he now walks seemingly better, is again alert to his balls! and that in just two weeks after the surgery. The healing process wasn't too simple, and we have received excellent and adequate care and support from the doctor and the nurses. Took my brand new puppy here for the first time- we were late , and before closing time and the team WAS AMAZING! Never once made me feel bad for being late and they were gracious, patient, and took their time and were efficient with the entire service. A tech met me outside due to Covid restrictions & the Doctor called me after his checkup for the update and such... they ended up treating my little guy for an hour an a half ! They stayed an hour after closing and I was so impressed and thankful! Highly recommend !!! read more

I made an appointment at Helpet on an emergency visit. I was anxious because my pup had blood in her stool and I was scared thinking it may be Parvo. As soon as I called, the tech on the phone made me feel at ease. She helped me arrange a same day appointment and was great at managing my expectations when it came to fee's. Before reaching out to them, I've called around and got mixed messages on fees and issues that stressed me out more. Once I arrived I was greeted by a woman and man vet tech (forgive me I forgot your names) who were very welcoming. They gave me a lot of good information being that I'm a first time owner, and gave my hyper pup a lot of TLC. Dr. Rivas was kind and took a step by step approach to figure out what was wrong with my dog - which I appreciate because some tests are painful. Both Dr. Rivas and the male vet tech gave me great advice on the next few steps and we left the office feeling relieved. I highly recommend Helpet! read more

Highly recommend Dr. Valentina Henao! She genuinely cares and loves animals, which definitely shows in her quality of work and dedication. Dr. Henao has such special care and attention to detail with my precious fur baby, treating him as if he was her own. She is very thorough and takes her time to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan to ensure that my puppy is in good hands with the best care. Dr. Henao is also a great communicator as well as in her follow-ups, which provides tremendous peace of mind. I have been bringing my puppy to Helpet since October 2021, and I couldn't be more grateful to have found Dr. Henao, who is by far the best vet! The staff at Helpet is also nice, the place is very hygienic, everything is very efficient and technologically advanced. What a great experience. My Trudy wasn't feeling well and my last vet gave her medicine that they knew would hurt her stomach and liver because she already has a preexisting condition so they kind of just didn't seem to care. I made a same day appointment at helpet , got right in, they were quick, clean, polite and respectful which is not easy to find in Miami. Then they changed her medicine to something gentler and she was so much better within a few hours, they had reasonable pricing and Dr. Rivas even emailed to check in with me a day or two later. I really feel like they care and want to be helpful while my little pup heals. I will definitely be coming here from now on! read more

ZERO STARS, DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. I'm disgusted with this place. I called at 7:20pm because I got home and saw my four month old kitten had a little more than normal diarrhea and asked if I could bring her in to get looked at. The girl puts me on hold to "talk to her manager" and then comes back on and says no they're not going to look at her because "if a one month old PUPPY has nonstop diarrhea it could be really bad you have to take him to the South Miami emergency pet clinic." Mind you I clearly said that I had a CAT that was 4 months, she was acting normal and energetic and seemed fine except for the diarrhea. Oh and I also mentioned that I literally live across the street and could be there in 5 minutes and they literally refused to treat or even see my cat. Never in a million years would I have thought that would happen. I am honestly DISGUSTED with this lack of empathy and I will never bring my pets or even consider this as an option.
