My male cat Kona had urinary blockage. As he's my first male cat, I had no idea what to do but I knew it could be deadly so I got him to VEG right away. They got us into a treatment room, went over a few less invasive options but while none of that worked, he got pain meds and they cleared the blockage under a light anesthesia. I was surprised he had to stay for 48 hours, but they explained why it was important. He got a recovery cage in a quiet cat room and I was able to visit a couple times a day till he was ready to go home. The vets and nurses were all helpful in answering my questions. Kona has been home for 3 weeks now and doing great on a new diet and a fancy new water fountain. For anyone who goes there with their pet, here's a few details I can share: There is plenty of parking there. They have a lot of patients and some are in more dire situations than your pet and I think they do their best to triage who needs what and when. Due to that, there's times when you may have to wait a bit to get someone to come over and answer a question. They have a little area with coffee and drinks. They have a few rooms with couch beds in case you need to sleepover with your fur baby. They even have blankets for humans. They can text you and call you 24/7. Sometimes you have to wait for a Dr to get on the phone but as I said, some patients are in more urgent need. Once Kona was stable, I did my best to respect that. If your baby has to stay overnight, the staff does visit and give them attention to check on everything periodically, they are not just left in the cage. They will send discharge documents to you and your regular vet. I have been there before with both my cats when they had diarrhea for too long and got dehydrated. If you need an emergency vet, go somewhere else. Taking a dog to emergency is already a horrible situation to be but when you meet a vet who pretends to care while taking as much money from you as possible it is even worse. I have to say that part of the staff really seems to care but my experience with the vet Raluca Anghel was not the best. She pressured me and made me feel horrible as I tried to decide what to do about the situation. First she recommended me to leave my dog overnight for a cost of over 5k than when I said I wouldn't leave my baby there she started saying my dog was not responding to the treatment and very quickly her new alternative was euthanasia. So if I had paid 5k to leave my dog there would I pay 5k to have her euthanized the next morning? The whole interaction with her was awful and it was just not worse because I was basically unable to think straight. I left with a 2k bill and without my baby. When I asked for the exams she said she did, they sent me a few things but even though I paid for a ultrasound I didnt get any images. I emailed them about it and they say they didnt save it. Why would I pay for something and they would not keep it to share with me if needed? When I emailed them questioning I receive no response. One disappointment after another. I have other dogs so I already did my research on other Emergency vets in the area and I hope you do as well instead of taking your loved pet here. read more

If you are in an emergency, this is the only place in the area I would ever trust. Before we came to VEG, we sat at another ER for 2.5 hours only to be told Jack wasn't 'critical enough' to be a priority and we had to continue to wait. I knew in my gut something was wrong, so we left and rushed straight to VEG. The second we walked into VEG, they saw him immediately, and I truly believe the attentive staff is the reason he's still here today. Jack is a senior with a Grade 5 heart murmur and Addison's Disease, and it turned out what he was experiencing was a life-threatening Addisonian crisis. His care is a delicate balancing act, but for 48 hours, the team was so meticulous, managing his IV fluids with total precision to save his kidneys without hurting his heart. Throughout it all, they treated Jack with so much love and attention; he was as cared for as if he were their own. Seeing my little man walk out of there with high energy and his appetite back feels like a miracle. They didn't just stop at the emergency, either; they even reached out to Jack's internist to make sure she understood exactly what took place so we can have a solid long-term plan for his medications. I am a licensed wildlife rehabber in the Tampa Bay Area. I specialize in Raccoons and utilize both Tampa VEG locations. They are wonderful. They see wildlife at no charge to the rehabber. When a girl down in Fort Lauderdale reached out to me about a raccoon she saw get hit by a car, I had her rush it to this VEG location. I sent my license over to them and they agreed to care for the raccoon and do X-rays to check for injuries. They told me they would have to charge, but it would be discounted. I agreed to pay the bill because what other choice did I have? And I also understand that they don't have the same program that the VEG locations here have. No big deal. I paid the $825. X-rays came back with no injury. While still searching for a rehabber local to the lady that has her, she kept her in her garage. At 2:30am (on 2/26), she found blood in the cage. With no visible external bleeding, and being unable to get ahold of me for advice, she did what anyone else would do and rushed her back to this VEG location. She was shocked to find that where they were kind and empathetic before, the team she was met with was cold, uncaring, and seemingly unwilling to help her. She frantically tried getting ahold of me, unsuccessfully. She was willing to pay the bill, she just wanted this raccoon to get the care in desperately needed and deserved. While there, they witnessed it defecate blood. Common sense would lead most people to think maybe there is an internal injury. What would be done for a dog or cat? That was not done here. When they asked her what she wanted them to do, she said "in a perfect world, a veterinarian would be here and the rescue would be answering" and they said "yeah, that's in a perfect world." Indicating there was no vet there. Now they are claiming there WAS a vet there by the name of Dr. Prito (not sure of spelling). They told her to bring the raccoon to Wildlife Center of Florida and leave it in the carrier for them to find in the morning. If you go to their website, they CLEARLY state not to do this. They want you to keep the animal in a safe space until the morning when they open. Fortunately, the lady that brought her in knew that wasn't the right thing to do and said no. At this point the young man (Anthony) who was "helping" her told her to surrender the raccoon over to VEG and he PROMISED her he would bring it to Wildlife Center of Florida. He promised to text her updates and never did. At this point I knew it wasn't good, but was still hopeful. I managed to get ahold of the Medical Director at this VEG to get to the bottom of things. He immediately laughed at me and told me "yeah, it was euthanized. We sent the head off for testing." Shocked, I asked him WHY? He said "it tried to bite a member of my staff and we have to test it for rabies." TRIED. She did NOT bite them. Like any scared animal, she lashed out. How could you euthanize an innocent animal for that? Because it's a raccoon? I'm appalled and will be filing a report with the state as this is unethical behavior from veterinary professionals. read more

I have always had fantastic service at each VEG I've used. My dog had a foreign body obstruction and her needs were beyond what her general vet was able to provide. I went to one emergency hospital for overnight hospitalization and was very unimpressed by what I experienced. I then went to VEG Ft Lauderdale and was warmly greeted by the staff. Dr. Casali took detailed note of the timeline and treatments my dog had received so far. He was able to communicate his expected treatment plan, at what point that treatment plan could change (depending on response to each step of treatment), and then performed the foreign body surgery. My dog spent 33 hours at VEG, and each nurse that tended to my dog was fantastic and caring. Nahyr, Brit, and Hannah took fantastic care of not only my dog, but of me as I did not leave my dog's side. My dog is a fearful dog, and all of the staff took care to respect her needs. By the end of our time at VEG, my dog was able to be hand-fed by Nahyr and even took a liking to her. In addition to the nurses, the front desk staff were also caring and attentive. As every pet parent hopes to never experience an emergency with their pet, I take comfort in knowing the staff at VEG are ready to take on the challenges this field brings. My 11-year-old pup Bella she is a pitbull mix with mastiff and hound started losing weight from 58 to 50 lbs in estimated five days. I went to my normal vet which is wonderful Stevens animal Hospital ( Patient for 10 years ) we saw Dr Lucy , Where they did every test possible, including bloodwork, Addison's testing, cancer, testing, x-rays, and ultrasounds,. Only thing found was low red blood cells. Otherwise she's A wonderful and healthy dog. The best anybody could ask for. They put her On antibiotics and steroids and recommended a blood transfusion. I did my due diligence and called around. All I can get You have to come in and pay for an evaluation. No one would confirm they had the blood, which was unsettling to me. Not to even say arrange or confirm blood is available. Then I called VEG - Veterinary emergency group in Fort Lauderdale. I spoke to a really nice woman on the phone and then transferred me directly to a doctor. Doctor said we do have blood And we can do a transfusion if needed an estimated cost would be around $2000 to $2500 it can be More if she needs medicines. That was very assuring to me. I called Stevens animal Hospital later that day and spoke to my vet veterinarian again to ensure it was the right hospital and they said absolutely you can go through the whole procedure with them bed side start to finish. It's a great place. That night about 8:30 PM we brought her in. They had her tested. Had the blood transferred and started the transfusion around 12 PM. Midnight Anthony was one of her Vet tech technicians. He was wonderful couldn't ask for a more compassionate educational person to go through an emergency like this by 6 PM. She was done and discharged. It hasn't even been two days and she's already gained 2 pounds and she's becoming normal again. The diagnostics was $1100 and the transfusion was $2100 She's only 11 And relatively healthy. $3200 is the least I can do for her. She's the light of everybody's life when you meet her. Tomorrow Tuesday, her Addison's and additional bloodwork come back to see if there is a diagnosis. Fingers crossed. Dr. Stevens animal Hospital and veterinary emergency group. Are wonderful and caring. Dr. Lucy or the staff calls every few days with information if they have it on the testing. Update 12-6-25 Bella saw Dr. Lucy again at Stevens animal Hospital, where they did bloodwork on Tuesday and Friday. We are waiting to talk to a internist specialist to see if we can add additional medications as needed She is stable, but definitely has non-regenerative anemia We are still in a wait to see pattern as the medicines do their job She is stable now, but may need another transfusion which we will definitely go back to VEG if needed We are all praying for Bella. There's still a good chance. She'll start making her red blood cells again. 12-9-25 hello is still stable 10 days after the blood transfusion. She's doing better than everyone expected but not out of the woods yet. Added one more medication and will take good day by day . May have to go for one more blood transfusion Well definitely go back to veterinary emergency group. read more

Lauderdale, 3 different times (things happen on the weekends, you know). We dealt with Drs. Marti & Dr. Casoli. They had my trust within a minute!. Nurses & staff as well. Within 24hrs my Sparky was stable and is back to his usual (prima-donna) self. Minus ONE STAR for 2 reasons: #1: Their 'discharge protocol' is not user-friendly, lots of pages with info repeated, details in some, not on another. Its good for them, but you must DECIPHER it. I took my fur baby here and was throughly impressed! I'm a nurse and my sister is a vet and owns her own practice in another state. This clinic is clean and all the staff are so amazing. we were triaged immediately and saw a vet within a few minutes. My dog has severe separation anxiety and being able to be by his side the entire time made this such a better experience. The Dr we saw was through and so good with my shy shelter rescue. Im sure I could have waited to bring my pet in to our regular vet, but like so many of us it kills me to see our fur babies in pain. Upon walking into the clinic my experience was nothing less than exceptional! They immediately got me and my cat into a private room and began to figure out the best plan of action. I have a semi feral outdoor cat that I adopted so it wasn't exactly a walk in the park bringing this guy in....! But everyone there was very accommodating and it turned out way better than I expected. I recommend for your animal emergencies! It's expensive of course, but they understand and are willing to work with you! Shoutout to Dr. Colman! He was primarily the doctor I saw for my dog's case. I trust him completely. He showed that he cared, he took the time to answer any questions I had, and also explained everything very clearly. It's an open floorplan which I think is actually really beneficial. They're open 24/7. If your animal is hospitalized, you can stay with them the entire time! Kudos to everyone at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital. Nea talked me through traffic and to their front door where she met me and helped with the carrier. We were greeted by Murray who acclimated us to the hospital and took Marvy to Dr Jennifer. He detailed the plan of action and we discussed the possible fees. I was given the opportunity to ok or eliminate line items and awhile later Dr Jennifer spoke with me about possible issues involved. I was very pleased with being in the loop during the entire diagnostic process; and once Marvy was released to go home (3 hours after we arrived) Chris handled final medications and brought the carrier to my car. A surprisingly pleasant experience after a fearful day with a sick pet. And their coffee area was a welcome and much needed respite. read more

Do not take your pet to the Fort Lauderdale location. They did a C-Section on our dog. Within the same day they said come get her she is ready to come home "on the same day"! We brought our dog and her two puppies home. That night our female puppy passed. The next morning the mother was not looking so good. We rushed her back to VEG. They gave her some antibiotics and morphine. 30 minutes later the mother passed away. They just looked at us and said well maybe it was a blood clot. These people have no empathy whatsoever. read more

Had a little scare with an allergic reaction, called ahead of time and they were all set when I arrived. Place is super nice and clean, and the staff were really welcoming! My fur baby was feeling better in less than 20 mins. Also payments are super easy, as they offer Apple Pay as well as Affirm. Will def come back! read more

First off I want to state that the night staff at this facility are amazing! We are visiting from out of state and our puppy Jackson got stung by a bee at NIGHT on the sidewalk. He yelped and I checked and saw nothing, I assumed he got bit by an ant. We kept walking, but when we got back to the house he kept chewing his foot. Then suddenly his face started swelling (within seconds)! We administered Benadryl and looked online for the nearest emergency vet, which happened to be VEG. We called and they told us to bring him in. We rushed him over and they were able to see him immediately. The staff were so attentive and Jackson absolutely loved the attention! They managed to find the super tiny stinger in his paw and gave him steroids to reduce the swelling. We stayed at the clinic afterward to make sure he was all good. He woke up this morning and he's back to his normal goofy non swollen self. Huge shout out to the amazing staff at VEG and we really appreciate all the attention you gave Jax. Also the prices were very reasonable for an emergency vet. Would rate 10 stars if we could! read more
