My dog was sedated for treatment. The team who took care of her on December 24th around 1 am was excellent!

The team the night I took my dog for urgent care was excellent. Everyone from the front desk (I didn't get her name), the nurse (Sheenan, I think her name is but not sure), and the veterinarian were perfect. I was greeted and talked to patiently during check in. The nurse was fast, a total pro, super helpful as she also noticed my dog's overgrown nails, she did so much in just half an hour. The veterinarian is so nice, thorough, very kind, comforting, and calming. Having this team made me feel calm that my dog is in great hands. It's very much appreciated, especially during the stressful holiday season. Thank you to all three who were awesome in every way and for taking great care of my dog. I wish every vet visit can be this great!

    Ruby says thank you!

A few months ago, my dog ingested 40,000 mg of ibuprofen. This is over three times the lethal amount for a dog her size and 40 times the amount that would cause G.I. damage, my dog typically weighs 50 pounds but dropped down to only 36 pounds when this incident happened now a few months later she's up to 47 pounds! thanks to VEG my dog is now only experiencing very mild kidney damage and on track to making a full recovery! I only found out that she ingested this medication a few days after the fact, as she was being Pet sit by somebody and I was not aware, I went into VEG 3 days after the initial ingestion they worked with my financial limitations and we're very patient and understanding they explain things very in depth and truly do care about the dogs they see I have never experienced such a positive environment when taking my dog to a vet they demonstrate amazing sympathy and I cannot recommend this place enough! Thank you VEG boynton for helping my dog pull off this miracle!

The morning we were able to have Billy back home! Thank you!

They were so caring to our dog and us!! From the moment we walked in the door in the middle of the night. They took us straight back and started his care. They involved us every step of the way. They let us visit as long as we wanted. If we weren't there, they would call and text to update us. We never had to wonder how it was going or if there was a good time to visit. We were welcome at any time. Even watching them care for a big emergency that came in while we were there. They comfort the dog and owner equally. Everything about the care of our animal and us was amazing! We are so thankful to everyone there!!

This is Merlin in his prime

The staff here made an excruciating painful process easier. Without warning I had to put down my dog and best friend of 16 years, the staff was amazingly courteous, caring and understanding. Furthermore worked with us on the price and a payment plan when our finances weren't ready for the new cost. This was also after we had rude treatment by two vets just before when we just were trying to figure out what was wrong. The staff here is amazing! Thank you for all you did for us and Merlin

From the very beginning, they made sure not only that Dirk was being cared for, but that I was supported as well during a very difficult time. Every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine. The staff took the time to answer questions, walk me through options, and ensure I felt informed and not alone in the decisions I had to make. What meant the most to me, though, was what happened after. I received (handwritten) signed condolence cards from their staff. That small but meaningful gesture spoke volumes about the kind of people they are. It showed that they truly care - not just about the pets they treat, but about the families who love them. Even though this was an incredibly hard experience, I'm grateful that Dirk and I were surrounded by people who treated us with such kindness and respect. Thank you for taking care of him, and for taking care of me.

Living in NC we were able to get her enrolled in the Yale Canine Cancer trial. We drove to Richmond VA several times for those special vaccine treatments and needed to find an Oncologist in FL who would work with us. This has been a scary tightrope of hope in this long road to goodbye to my best life partner. I sent the other DVM files ahead of time so PERC could be prepared but wasn't expecting they would've actually thoroughly reviewed and checked all that. It was volumes! From the moment I walked in the very talented and skilled Nicole greeted me in a private room with my dog. Today, our second visit to thoroughly update the ultrasounds and X-rays, I could t help but cry with relief that Nicole is thoroughly familiar with the volumes of documentation and my dog's particular case. This is such a hard struggle to do by myself, but I truly feel the team of Dr. Zaidi and Nicole mean my dog is in the caring hands of people who are as concerned about her as I am. We hope to be able to continue for the entire season with this wonderful Specialty Veterinarian Practice. They remember the details of complicated cases and they truly care with compassion for the humans as well. Most highly recommended ! I'm so glad we discovered this board certified Dr Bushra Zaidi and her excellent facility in here South Florida.

I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience at Pet Emergency and Referral Center…read more I came in specifically because my primary vet does not have a CT scan machine, and my 80 lb dog has a growth on his chest that needed imaging. When I checked in, I clearly explained that I was there for a CT scan. The younger staff member at the front desk was polite and checked me in without issue. After waiting, I was seen by Dr. Jessica Martin. She checked my dog's vitals and examined the mass, then confirmed that he would need a CT scan--which is exactly what my primary vet had already told me, and the reason I came in. However, she then informed me that their CT machine cannot accommodate a dog of my size and recommended I go elsewhere. This was extremely frustrating, as it could have been addressed before I was checked in, given that I clearly stated my reason for visiting. The situation became worse at checkout. I was told I needed to pay for the visit, which I questioned since I came in for a CT scan that could not be performed. The younger front desk staff member understood my concern, but another employee, Gretchen, intervened. During the discussion, Gretchen told me that I had not said I needed a CT scan when I checked in, and even stated that if I had said that, it would be a different situation regarding the bill. At that point, the staff member who originally checked me in overheard and confirmed that I did clearly say I needed a CT scan. Despite this, Gretchen immediately reversed course and stated that it didn't matter, that a consultation was done, and that payment was still required. This contradiction was frustrating and made the interaction feel dismissive and unfair. While a brief exam was performed, it ultimately resulted in the same conclusion I already had, without providing the service I came in for. Better communication upfront could have avoided this entire situation. I also want to specifically note the conduct of Gretchen at the front desk. Her tone was dismissive and argumentative, and her inconsistent statements during the interaction only added to the frustration. This reflects poorly on the professionalism and customer care at this facility. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

If you are considering using this animal hospital for even a goldfish, please do yourself a favor…read moreand DO NOT. dr. Netzly, the "veterinarian", is not only unprofessional, rude, petulant, and unsavory, he is a consummate liar. I made an appointment to simply have a rabies shot given to my beloved dog. When I saw that I was five minutes late for her appointment, I called the office and communicated the fact that I would be a bit late for the appointment. I arrived exactly twelve minutes late for the appointment. This "dr" stated in a response to my review that I was 40 minutes late. A lie! And later in the appointment he told me that I was too stupid to find his offices. FACT I assume that my Ph.D. is not ample educationally for his belittling, his rudeness and his unprofessionalism in his less than modern, uncomfortable and shabby offices. I brought Sophia into the tiny examination room with a muzzle that I requested as I know that she doesn't like to be prodded and needled. I held her and this "dr" entered the room, without a hello, without introducing himself to me and asked me if I was holding her. I stated to him that I was. He said to me, and I quote, "I heard that bullshit comment before." I stood up and calmly asked him not to speak to me in that manner. He looked at me in the same manner that Sophia looks at me quizzically! I should have left at that time as I realized his negative energy and attitude was from being twelve minutes late, but I didn't. So I said let's just do this and be done with it. I grabbed Sophia around the chest and secured her muzzled head while he injected her. Somehow she then managed to wriggle backward out of the muzzle and my grip and, unfortunately, bit the "dr" on his wrist. He became inconsolable and began yelling to the vet tech to call the humane society that my shepherd mix was a vicious dog. I pleaded with him to please reconsider, that I was so sorry that she had reacted that way but he was resolute (not realizing at that point that this would be considered an occupational hazard). Then I told him that I was a Vietnam Veteran and to please give her a break for my sake. His response, and I quote, was, "I don't give a shit who you are or what you did." Sophia never bit anyone, prior to this incident and the only report on her was her off of the leash. Another lie by this 'dr'. It is my humble opinion that he should seriously consider retirement before he inflicts his negative emotions, his nasty attitude, his ramshackle offices and his unprofessionalism on another unfortunate, unprepared animal and owner.

If you are in an emergency, this is the only place in the area I would ever trust. Before we came to VEG, we sat at another ER for 2.5 hours only to be told Jack wasn't 'critical enough' to be a priority and we had to continue to wait. I knew in my gut something was wrong, so we left and rushed straight to VEG. The second we walked into VEG, they saw him immediately, and I truly believe the attentive staff is the reason he's still here today. Jack is a senior with a Grade 5 heart murmur and Addison's Disease, and it turned out what he was experiencing was a life-threatening Addisonian crisis. His care is a delicate balancing act, but for 48 hours, the team was so meticulous, managing his IV fluids with total precision to save his kidneys without hurting his heart. Throughout it all, they treated Jack with so much love and attention; he was as cared for as if he were their own. Seeing my little man walk out of there with high energy and his appetite back feels like a miracle. They didn't just stop at the emergency, either; they even reached out to Jack's internist to make sure she understood exactly what took place so we can have a solid long-term plan for his medications. Mitch, Kat, Jamie and the rest of the nurses were so incredibly kind, and Dr. Kagan's expertise was the only thing that gave me peace of mind during the scariest 48 hours. The VEG team leads with both science and a massive amount of heart. We are so grateful!

I went to one emergency hospital for overnight hospitalization and was very unimpressed by what I experienced. I then went to VEG Ft Lauderdale and was warmly greeted by the staff. Dr. Casali took detailed note of the timeline and treatments my dog had received so far. He was able to communicate his expected treatment plan, at what point that treatment plan could change (depending on response to each step of treatment), and then performed the foreign body surgery. My dog spent 33 hours at VEG, and each nurse that tended to my dog was fantastic and caring. Nahyr, Brit, and Hannah took fantastic care of not only my dog, but of me as I did not leave my dog's side. My dog is a fearful dog, and all of the staff took care to respect her needs. By the end of our time at VEG, my dog was able to be hand-fed by Nahyr and even took a liking to her. In addition to the nurses, the front desk staff were also caring and attentive. As every pet parent hopes to never experience an emergency with their pet, I take comfort in knowing the staff at VEG are ready to take on the challenges this field brings. As someone who has been in the animal welfare field for 19 years, I can safely say Dr. Casali and the whole team at VEG are the example to follow.

I have never been more impressed with a medical facility -- and that includes every human hospital I've visited with family members for surgeries and ER visits. This is truly a top-of-the-line operation. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff treated us with extraordinary kindness and compassion. They were reassuring, supportive, and genuinely caring. In one of the most frightening moments we've had as pet owners, that level of humanity meant everything. Roxy was hospitalized for three days, and the care was exceptional from start to finish. The ICU is spotless and highly organized, and there was someone by her side 24/7. We were allowed to visit from 10am-10pm, which made a huge emotional difference for us. Communication was constant and clear. The team explained every step, was upfront and transparent about costs, asked for approval before doing anything, and was conscientious about the bill even when we told them to do whatever was necessary to save her. Every doctor and nurse we encountered was incredibly intelligent, highly trained, and deeply compassionate. It is obvious they genuinely care about their patients and their families, and it shows in everything they do. Eric, one of the ICU nurses, even had his personal bulldog donate plasma to Roxy -- an act of generosity and care we will never forget. When we returned a few days later for a checkup with Dr. Ghantous, the follow-up care was just as impressive. Not only was the medical guidance excellent and thorough, but the entire team -- including ICU vets and nurses -- remembered Roxy, came over to check on her, and were genuinely happy to see her doing well. That kind of continuity and heart is rare. This is the most impressive medical facility I have ever seen, human or veterinary. They deserve enormous recognition for the level of skill, compassion, and professionalism they provide. I would not think twice about bringing my dog here again, and I would strongly recommend ACCESS to anyone and everyone I know.

I guarantee you they will kill your pet. The reviews here are true…read more ACCESS failed my pet and they will fail yours too. My cat had CKD and was treated very well at VEG. Then I took her to Access for additional care as a primary and they were difficult. Her values worsted at ACCESS. They inserted a feeding tube in her and when I slowly became aware of their unhygienic practices (caged pets, urine in blankets unchanged for 2-3 days, food in water bowl, difficult front desk staff) I immediately wrote a negative review for people out there. They immediately shut off all care for my cat including all prescription medications as a way to punish my cat to send a strong response to my negative review. They delayed releasing medical records so no other emergency vet could immediately treat her and no primary could prescribe her medications in time. She was in critical condition when they abruptly cut of service. They left me without feeding syringe to take home and give food through the tube. I had to go to an emergency to get tubes and meds. I contacted many hospitals across Florida and they were not shocked about Access as they are aware of them being difficult. Her condition got worse and so I took her back to VEG and they ran blood work. Turns out my cat had astronomically high values for white blood cells and very low platelets. Access did not run the full blood work to catch any of this. She got internal bleeding and sever infection from being at Access cages and overall poor / unsanitary conditions. Her blood work was never done to catch any of this. They only ran 2-3 values while ignoring full comprehensive care. Her blood work looked great on the 26th of April when she left VEG and just within a month of care at Access she was as good as gone. Plateles so low that additional testing at other clinics would put her at risk for more clots and bleeding. I assure you that no care is better care than Access. After going…read moreto previously to a different animal hospital twice and my kitten still having difficulty urinating we saw Dr. Simona on 11/24 & within 2 hours she was able to exactly pinpoint the why my kitten was having the difficulty & referred a surgical consult w/ the owner of the practice Dr. Jason. Dr.Jason is also excellent & consulted w/ Dr. Simona because it was something rare to see in a little kitten. Dr Jason first tried a minor procedure to try to avoid doing the major P.U. Surgery and I have know regrets that we did try this first. However my kitten within 48 hours was still having difficulty urinating & we had to end up doing the emergency P.U. Surgery which Dr. Jason came in on his day off to accommodate the emergency surgery which I am truly grateful for. Dr. Jason & the staff including Dr. Rachel and the front desk as well as the nurses kept me up to date during the entire hospitalization process & I was allowed to visit which was great. During visiting hours when an exam room was available the staff was able to let us visit in the exam room which was appreciated and very good for both the pets & pet parents. Post surgery bringing my kitten home he had another complication which became an emergency when he was straining to poop. I brought him back in & Dr. Michael consulted another Dr there I forgot his name but also super nice & they did abdominal xrays and gave my kitten an enema. The enema initially helped but when we got back home my kitten was still not pooping after a few days so I contacted Renee by text the excellent Staff Liason and she was able to ask questions of the doctors for me multiple times regarding getting a temporary medication to help my kitten be able to poop without having to keep coming in for another enema. I also had questions because we can't bathe a pet after surgery & this is the hardest part of keeping the area clean since the pet has a cone on and trying to gently clean the butt the area is very tender and challenging to do. I wish the recheck was a little sooner for this very reason because my kitten won't let me near the area to gently dab it but I did take the Dr's advice to use vaseline there which I think helped a little bit. If you ever had a pet needing surgery wearing a cone these are all things to consider. I am very thankful & appreciate of the entire staff & especially Dr. Jason for helping save my kitten's life. I am also very thankful that I had pet insurance which covered about 80% of the costs. Anyone reading this should just get pet insurance because you just never know when you'll need it. The upcoming recheck is next week about 2.5 weeks after the surgery. The hardest part of the post surgery recovery at home is telling a kitten he can't run and jump. What I have done to keep my kitten from running & jumping is put soft towels and pillows all over the floor and just play gently but even still a kitten will jump on the bed despite my best efforts. The Gabapentin pain meds prescribed makes him drowsy which is actually good for recovery but the pet is still alert and responsive and wants to play. I would definitely recommend this hospital and the internist if you need specialists because the local ER vet isn't able to solve the issue then it is absolutely worth traveling to see these specialists. The only thing I would say could be better is installing UL certified Far UVC Light 222nm to clean the indoor air quality. While most staff did mask upon request the masks were surgical masks which are not respirator masks and don't really protect for airborne particles. Most of the staff were accommodating and masked & put in on the correct way & at least tried but there were some techs that didn't bother to actually put it on correctly by actually having both their nose and mouth covered by actually tying the big baggy blue surgical and wore it like a bandana and this made me uncomfortable when it wasn't done correctly by certain staff but thankfully most of the staff was very conscientious & accommodating. With the Bird Flu cover up happening nationwide as well as internationally and knowing it can be transmitted to other animals including cats as well as humans I would advise all medical healthcare professionals to wear a respirator in any healthcare setting and any public indoor building that doesn't yet have UL certified Far UVC Light 222nm installed in the ceilings. If there was Far UVC Lights sufficiently in a bldg all over with enough coverage then it would be safe enough to be bare faced when the Indoor Air Quality is covered with every square inch. I do know they have UVC in the HVAC which is something however Far UVC light or upper Room germicidal light as it is called or 222nm is still needed for the times we are living in. Read Carl Zimmer's book called "Airborne" for more on this topic & google Dr. David Brenner at Columbia University & Far UVC

I rushed my sweet, sensitive, nine-month-old puppy here the night of May 29th after being referred…read moreby UrgentVet, who was unable to treat him for a blockage in his stomach after being there for two hours. Before I continue, I must say that the staff here was friendly and informative, but my puppy didn't receive the urgent care he needed until it was too late. After we arrived at LeadER, my puppy had to wait to be seen as we waited on his X-ray from UrgentVet. This was not the hospital's fault, but time was very precious, and we were already two hours into trying to get him care. This all started after my puppy swallowed part of a dog toy at some point earlier in the day. He threw up nine times at UrgentVet (I told LeadER this), and was coughing, panting, and shaking. When the X-ray finally came through to LeadER, the vet took my boy in the back to be put on an IV overnight to see if it would flush out the blockage (this was recommended by UrgentVet and LeadER agreed this was the route to take). The next day at 1:00 p.m. when I called to check in (I got a text at 8:30 a.m. saying my puppy was doing well and I felt relieved), the vet said my puppy didn't pass the blockage from his stomach and surgery was required to remove it. I was willing to do whatever it took and approved the surgery. The vet then said he just did a repeat X-ray and saw that my boy had aspiration pneumonia and put him on antibiotics. At the time, I didn't know much about aspiration pneumonia and trusted the antibiotics would help him. Not long after, the surgeon called and told me they were prepping my boy for surgery but wanted me to know that the aspiration pneumonia made being under anesthesia risky. He asked if I was okay with this and I double-checked and asked if this was the right move. He said the blockage was the primary concern and that he'd do the surgery quick. He did mention, again, that it was a risk. I agreed to it, and was nervous, but thought my puppy would come out of it okay. He was a young, healthy, brave boy. Not long after, I got a call that the surgery was done (it was quick), but that my puppy was in critical condition due to the aspiration pneumonia and that I should come to the hospital because they might lose him. I rushed to the hospital. They let me in the back to be with my baby boy. He was on oxygen and couldn't breathe on his own. He was unconscious. At this point, the team was doing all they could. They brought in a ventilator and performed CPR the first time his heart stopped. I kissed my boy and told him to please hang on. I prayed. He didn't wake up. My heart and my world shattered. My sweet boy came into my life at a time when I needed him most. He saved my life, and I wish I could have made the right decisions to save his. My puppy was treated too late. I learned the aspiration pneumonia was due to the vomit getting into his lungs. He was throwing up so much the previous night, but nobody seemed concerned about that. The whole night he was on the IV, the morning after, and that early afternoon, nobody knew he had aspiration pneumonia (I'm making myself sick imagining him in the cage on the IV for hours and hours, in pain due to the pneumonia). They realized right before his surgery when he got his repeat X-ray. Then the anesthesia made it much worse. They should not have put my puppy under in the condition he was in. I didn't know this until it was too late. While the vet refunded my money, it means nothing compared to my puppy's life. I wish they handled his situation with urgency the moment we walked in the door. I wish they treated his aspiration pneumonia first. They did all they could at the end and were supportive, but by then, it was too late. Please don't buy your puppies and dogs toys they can shred and swallow. This is a living nightmare for me. My innocent, loving, playful, happy rescue boy was robbed of his life. The pain of his loss is unbearable.
