I went over to the Bloomingdale pet supermarket to look at some fish, and I ended up seeing a lot of dead fish and beta fish containers in unhealthy conditions. The employees were nice about it and claimed they are usually on top of it but some of these containers were looking very neglected. Ended up not getting any fish tho due to them being in unhealthy conditions some beta containers were in mason jars that seemed to be rusted from water- including one dead beta fish. Purchased a pet food item, however, I selected the wrong brand. Returned the packages unopened less than two hours after I purchased, with the receipt and bag and was forced to accept a gift card, rather than a refund. Unacceptable and ridiculous! Why? I understand if the product was opened or no receipt, but this was not the case, yet this store will not provide a refund. Will never shop there again. Wow!! Just wow!! Never in my life have I had a worse experience at a store. First off I inqured about purchasing a finch, the lady tells me "I don't think there for sale" I replied why are they in the store then. She says "I don't know why there here" I asked could you go find out. And she acted like it was a big deal to find out. Finally she trys to ask another employee who I think was the manager named ebony? Who walks by in a rush says yes their for sale and proceeds to quickly turn away. I had to stop her again to ask how much, she says there all different prices and turns and walks away again. I stopped her again and said we'll how much she replies with the same reply. I then ask can you give me a range she abruptly answers idk 20-100. Again she trys to walk away. So again I had to stop her and point out and which one. She didn't know the price takes a photo. I didn't know what she was doing so I asked again do you know the price. She rudely replies I'm trying to find out what kind it is. Finally after a long horrible and rude back and forth she finally tells me it's 54 and proceeds and just stare at my as I look at the bird. I dont know what is going on here or why I was treated so horribly but this was just the worse, which is sad because they have a unique selection. Kaleb is AMAZING! My dog has a lot of skin issues and he is so knowledgeable about all of the different brands of food. We have been several times and he is the best. I found a ramp this past visit and he opened the box to show it to me as well as price matched! Then he carried it to the car for us. I was impressed with the fact this place is not a boutique pet store based on the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness. It also doesn't have the smell of a normal pet store. This place opened a couple months back and it is just around the corner from my house so when I needed to get some pet food it was a easy decision to make to go check this place out. My usual place to shop is quite a bit further to go. The service is top notch, the staff is learning their craft on the job, but their leadership is there to correct and provide better answers to questions. Their rewards program beats that of their competition. They often have rewards that make sense, for example buy X amount of dry pet food and get the wet for a reduced rate, the brands with these offers are not the obscure or ultrahigh priced ones either. Also their rewards program sends coupons for usually $5 off a monthly purchase, so if the brand offers are not to your liking, these coupons soot your needs. I am sold on this place, especially with the price of gas the way it is cannot necessarily afford to drive all over the place. Their prices are comparable with their other competition. read more

I was very skeptical of the new raw dog food that was recommended by an associate. It was an more expensive brand but wow my dogs love it so much. The texture is perfect. The bite size is perfect. We discovered this location several months ago. The staff is incredibly friendly and always helpful. That said, my review here is primarily targeted at how they label their sale merchandise in the stores. My partner and I recently traveled here to purchase dog food...we buy Wellness. Wellness brand is relatively expensive food, so savings are pretty important when you stumble upon them. We usually buy the 55-60lb bags for three small pups. When we recently ventured to the store to buy the food, my partner had a $2 off coupon, and we noted when arriving to the shelf housing the bags that there was another $2 off promotion. Now, I will say this. In general, when you are in a grocery store or any store that stocks shelves with like items and there is a sale, 9 times out of ten the store will paper the shelves with tags stating whatever the promotion may be. For instance, in a freezer for Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream (there are at the very least 20 flavors) beneath each flavor is a tag reading some sort of promotion- 2 for $4.99 (you get the picture) and there are at the very least 20 tags denoting each item. Well the same was the case for the dog food. A tag about every 6 inches noting the sale...with the smaller bags and the larger bags. So, in an instance like this we did not read the small print because quite simply, just about every square inch of the shelf was tagged with the promotion. So, we thought- AWESOME SAUCE...coupon + additional savings equals $4.00 off! YAY. Well we get to the counter only to find out that we were wrong, the fine print only referred to the SMALL bags of food, but at the time, the sale tags were everywhere. I guess the lesson in all of this is for consumers to read the fine print, and for stores to be forth coming and to be honest in their marketing, you cannot always rely on that fact. I would suggest that this store and others be more diligent in their practices and I will bring my reading glasses more often when shopping Pet Supermarket. read more

I purchased a baby bearded dragon for my son for Christmas. By the time we left the store we had invested over $200 on dragon, tank and all of the necessities Kim told us we needed to keep the little guy happy. 2 weeks later we noticed that the dragons eye was swollen, and after another week took him to a local vet. We were advised that our pet had a systemic fungal infection, a bacterial infection and was riddled with pinworms. We were also advised that much of the advice we had been given at the store regarding care and keeping of bearded dragons was wrong. The bill at the vets was over $200 and we were sent home with several medications for the dragon. At our follow up visit 2 weeks later we agreed that he was not improving rather gating sicker. The vet prescribed some new medication but was not hopeful. After another $50 at the vet that day our pet died just a few hours after we got home. I visited PetSupermarket the next day to speak to the staff in regards to what happened and was told quite rudely that there are no guarantee notes on pets, and they disagreed with the fact that the vet suggested that we were sold an unhealthy baby dragon from the start. What a miserable customer service attitude to take when someone,s pet has died. We have a household of other pets and I won't give a dime of my money to this store ever again. Shame on you. read more
