Pet supermarket of course is a chain that all pet owners have probably visited or at least heard of before. I usually visit a larger chain store across the street but will come to pet supermarket too. I decided to leave a review for the one close by my home in West Boca after a recent visit. I personally have never had a bad experience at this location. Although a smaller store, they always seem to have my food in stock unlike the larger store across the street. that being said because it is smaller, they do not have as big of a selection as some of the other pet chains, but, they do have everything you need, including a good selection for both dogs and cats as well as small animals. They have a aquatic area as well as live animals for sale. On this visit, I noticed that they just installed a pet wash area too which is really cool. Typically the staff is attentive and even today the young gentleman who checked me out was super friendly telling me all about a new product that they were displaying at the register. However, I was somewhat disappointed because I saw another shopper and her young child excited about a guinea pig that they were interested in purchasing. I stopped to admire the little creature They were looking at and have a quick chat with them. They were enamored by the little guy and wanted the opportunity to get him out of the cage and visit with him. The mother asked one of the staff if somebody could take the guinea pig out for them. The staff was busy, understandably, with restocking the shelves as they just received a truck full of merchandise that was stacked throughout the store. So the young worker told the lady that they were too busy to help her with the guinea pig and that maybe she could come back later. I thought that was extremely rude and very disappointing Because this woman and her child were clearly excited about the guinea pig and we're probably going to purchase it. I told her she should seek out the manager or at least another staff member to ask if somebody could help her with the guinea pig. For me that was horrible customer service especially when you have a young child so excited to possibly be purchasing his first pet. When I was making my purchase, I even mentioned it to the young man who was checking me out, so I hope that somebody finally went to help her. Like I said, I've never had a problem there, but this was disappointing to see. Overall I've always had a pleasant experience at pet supermarket and will continue to visit when needed but hopefully they'll train their staff to honor the customers needs first so something like that does not happen again. read more

Two months ago I took my two puppies to give them a bath at the Pet supermarket in Boca Raton in fifth Avenue shops plaza I took them to the bath section I saw fleas I called the young lady I told her and her answer was (okay) without expression any concern . Suns down I've been fighting with the flea issue I even had to give my puppies complete haircut in order to get rid of the fleas. I did purchase front line from the same shop which he did not do any good. Today I went I complain to the manager she was a very nice I bought it but she was not able to give me any accommodation . I went to return an item, with the receipt, and was holding it in line waiting to be helped at customer service. Then, an employee walks by (a young girl, probably in high school), and immediately demands "are you stealing things?". She proceeded to excuse her actions by saying she's "had a busy day" and was angry I didn't laugh at her "joke". She said "I'm sorry YOU are having a bad day" since I didn't find it funny she accused me of robbing a pet store with a receipt in hand. If you're so concerned, call the police? The training at this store is abysmal and this incident was unacceptable. I thought this store cared much more about their customers, who are loyal and come often to find the best for their pets, and would treat them better. Matthew answered the phone later because apparently there was no manager present (no shit). I suggest they come back soon before employees run them out or business. I'm still waiting on a response from a manager or owner to settle the matter. read more

Pet Supermarket is a great place to shop for your pet's food, treats, toys, costumes, clothes and paraphernalia. I recently brought my darling dog, Onyx to go shopping and enter the Halloween contest and parade. Onyx is a Black Labrador Retriever. He was in ecstasy, meeting several new friends, both dogs and humans. He behaved himself perfectly. He was respectful and nice and friendly to his new friends. He went as a big pumpkin and kept his costume on throughout our visit. In fact, most of the dogs were very well-behaved except for one snippy pirate. We bought Onyx several new toys that he enjoyed immensely when he got home. He got an oversized tennis ball that was just the right size for him to play catch and retrieve. He can't swallow it or destroy it without a monumental effort. He also got 3 indestructible squeaky toys in the shape of tree branches. He just loved them! Onyx picked out a beautiful S-shaped nylabone. He really enjoyed browsing the many, many toys, foods and treats and smelling the smells left by other visitors to Pet Supermarket. It was a great, enjoyable day out for Onyx, even though he didn't win the drawing for best costume. It was a totally random selection. After all, how can you compare one beautifully costumed dog to another? Everyone went home a winner, having a wonderful time showing off and meeting fellow beautiful pets and owners. My husband went and got some toys and things for my puppy but some did not fit him and he did not like. He went to the pet supermarket in Coral Springs and was very happy with the help that he got. So I went to return three things at the pet supermarket in Boca Raton off of Glades Road and had a very great experience with cashier 32960. While she was refunding me the money to my credit card the manager on duty, Candy, came over and yelled at her to stop talking with me because that there was another customer in line. It was offensive to cashier 32960, to me and to the customer behind me. I've never seen any manager in my life act so unprofessional and all I wanted to do was leave the store. This should be handled and I am sorry that the cashier I was speaking with had to be so embarrassed. Shame on her! read more

Their Fish are DYING IN ALGAE and they do NOT CARE!!! I Asked for the Manager and he wouldn't come out for over 10 minutes even though his office door was Open and another employee told him why I was waiting!!!! Every time I go there's its to get fish. Every single fish I buy there has died days later. Thankfully you are able to return dead fish (I know creepy right?!) don't forget to bring a sample of your water and they'll test it for you. Which I've done many times and the fish always die. The staff is very nice and helpful if they're not busy because there's usually only 3 people working at a time. read more

I am only giving this a 1 because I had no choice. This is not about this store, the staff here are nice and pit's about this company which is the farthest thing from a customer service company that I've dealt with. The systems were down yesterday so when I wanted to exchange something I was told I couldn't. I could come back or buy the items again and then come back to return the other ones purchased. Either way, an inconvenience to me the customer. I bought them again since I needed them them hence why I went up there and then went back again today to return the other ones but since they were originally bought with a gift card, it was put back on a gift card which I have no use for and MasterCard is not going to accept to pay the other ones off. Now I have to work even harder and send the gift card back for them to send me a check. I work in a restaurant and have for over 25 years. Our power went out last week, so our systems were down. I didn't tell one customer that wanted to pay with cash that they couldn't because I couldn't get into the register and they would have to use a credit card that I could write down my hand or figure something else out. No, I made it work, I wrote them a hand check and figured out how to make it work and convenient did them the customer. That's not how you do business and that's a shame. The store I dealt with was very nice and only did what they were told which was to not provide appropriate service direct from corporate. In today's world with more people wanting to go to local business, this is an even bigger shame but I will go to corporate business just not yours. One of the cleanest pet stores along with friendly and helpful staff! If something is out of stock, they have no problem to either find a store that has it in stock if you need it immediately or call you when it is re-stocked on shelf. :) read more

The staff here is excellent. Helpful to all customers and willing to go the extra mile in helping consumers save a little on pet expenses with current discounts and/or active coupons. I was assisted by Milyna last week and she couldn't have been any more helpful from entry in the store to check out. She is a customer focused person who makes a great impression for the store. The only reason I did not give this store 5 stars was that inventory is sometimes lean on the products I use most frequently. read more
