Not a recommended pet store.
Roderick B.

I am looking for finches and having difficulty finding a pet store that has any real knowledge about them. The young man at this business spoke as if he had no knowledge at all about the two finches they currently had in the store. This is very disappointing because after 19 years of working with animals this is the reason true pet stores are disappearing. Please have someone on staff that actually knows about animals and can speak to potential pet parents so these wonderful creatures can have a forever home. I absolutely do not recommend this business because they have not made the effort to provide accurate information about the animals they are making money off of. Heartbreaking!

Typing this from my car after terrible service.

The customer service at this location does not exist other than someone ringing the sale and asking if you are a member. This was my 1st time returning to this store in many years as I lost my previous pet. Because my experience was always pleasant, I returned today to get food for my new puppy. As I walked in, no one greeted me. I saw a young lady associate seated on the floor behind the cash register on her phone, so I know my presence was known. I walked the aisle to find the dog food and ran into another associate who looked me directly in my face and said absolutely nothing. Once I found what I was looking for, I headed to the register to check out. The young lady got off the floor and proceeded to ring my purchase but ONLY asked if I were a member. I said no, and she didn't even offer membership information. There was an error with the tap screen for the card, but again, she gave absolutely no instructions. All she asked was if I wanted a receipt after my purchase was complete. I have no idea if this food is more expensive at PetSmart or anywhere else, but I do not care. I will NEVER return to this specific location, and I am willing to pay more for a pleasant experience elsewhere.

I really enjoy this Pet Supermarket at Ansley Mall, more so than their other locations and Petsmart.

sometimes 5-star reviews are goodbyes. this is exactly that type of Yelp entry…read more Whole Dog Market was recently acquired by another company, and they are taking on the name of "Pet Wants." I'm sure it will be a lovely experience as much of the staff will be staying on. I found out about the acquisition on a recent trip to pick up the kibble I've been purchasing there for the better part of 3 years. the folks notified me that they will no longer be keeping Fromm products in stock (available via special order) and that I should transition to Pet Wants kibble. based solely on that interaction, I don't think we are fully grasping what it means to switch the kibble a dog has gotten used to--or the inherent stress and effort it takes to gradually shift the dog's (or cat's) food. I wasn't happy about that. I love the staff here, and our dog got his name from an inspirational visit back in 2022. but I'm just not getting the point of selling to Pet Wants, nor am I "with" the concept of force-switching (lack of a better term) to in-house kibble. I'll probably go back, but my primary visits will be to Highland Pet Supply, which keeps all Fromm products in stock. thanks for the memories!

There is plenty of parking with the private lot. Along with many other stores in the shopping center. The store is open and bright. It is easy to find items in The Whole Dog. The items are organized well. Also the space is not cramped so you have plenty of area to move around. I loved all of the grain free food options! It can be hard to find different types of food. Especially with good ingredients when you read the back of the bag. I did not have that issue at The Whole Dog Market. They also had dog foods at a variety of price points. They had a large refrigerated and frozen section. Also an area with probiotics, calming chews, and much more for your pup. And of course large treat wall! The customer service was phenomenal! We were greeted upon arrival. The associate asked if we needed any help we told her we were browsing. She said to ask if we needed any help. We ended up having a few questions. And every single question we had she answered completely. She obviously knew the products in the store well. She also gave us suggestions or substitutes for products if they did not have them. Basically if you are in Atlanta and you have a dog the Whole Dog Market is a place you should visit!

We got our pet's vaccines here recently when we missed our normal low cost pet vaccine monthly clinic and it wasn't that much more. The staff were sweet with our dog and the paperwork wasn't too bad, although the heart worm medicine they tried to sell us wasn't the cheapest. On our last visit we paid about $40 for a basic bath for our dog which seemed kind of pricey (I don't understand why the "materials" are a separate and extra cost, why not just include that in the price, I don't want to feel like I'm purchasing tickets on Ticketmaster). We booked our appointment and they told us at our on time drop off to come back in 2 hours. When we expressed surprised they told us this was better than some of the normal wait times. So I'm getting that this is the standard car dealer oil change, you have an appointment but it doesn't actually mean much? I'd rather choose a place the appointment team is meaningful in the future. Other than that, they have a good variety of supplies, toys, pet accessories, and food options of course here and the staff seem knowledgeable and friendly.

Renique was the salon manager, and under her leadership, everything ran smoothly. It's clear she left due to an unfavorable work environment, and the atmosphere has gone downhill since. My dog, Prince -- a vibrant senior who has always been calm and well-behaved -- was unfairly labeled "overly sensitive," denied services, blacklisted, and blocked from booking grooming appointments online. This never happened under Renique's gentle, professional care. These actions raise serious concerns about how animals are treated at this location. We'll be following Renique to her new workplace, no matter how far, because she treats Prince with the kindness, patience, and respect every pet deserves.

I was told multiple times that they could. I showed up. Our family found the perfect mini Goldendoodle. Filled out all the paper work and when I went to pay was told they couldn't enter the card manually. Working in IT, I knew that was a lie. I showed them how to do it on the clover Point of Sale system they use. They then told me that the owner wouldn't allow it to happen. I called Mr Hunt, the owner, and explained my situation and what I was told. He told me his employees know better and without saying, called me a liar and scammer. I told him to pull the recordings, but I doubt that will happen. He then offered his stores financial services which are absolutely ridiculous compared to what I currently have. They lost a substantial sale and a customer for life. I'm also aware that these front counter workers make money from sales. I feel bad that the girl helping my family missed out on this commission, but unfortunately the owner prevented that. I could tell she was heart broken. I should have read all of the ratings and took them to heart before driving this way. The only way Mr Hunt keeps this store running is by manipulating people into terrible financial deals.

It's obvious the staff are pushing sales for either commission or some other incentive that is not finding perfect matches and getting animals good homes, and incredible pressure was applied to walk out with a $5050 dog right then and there. I would do explicit research before ever supporting this Petland or any other.
